hello friends!!
I have to make a major project in java.could yuo suggest
me any.

Well nothing's impossible - and i was'nt pulling legs when i was suggesting those projects - in fact i also liked the idea of an IDE, compiler, etc. Meanwhile and Operating System in Java is a possibility

    I'm about to dive into a major project that will use lots of

    and probably 10-20 class files. Not too big, but I'm expecting a
    massive amount of CFCs, probably 30 or so. Has anyone used MS Visio

  • Would you do a major project in LR4 right now? (looking for feedback - I am not ranting)...

    I have a major project this week where over 6 days I wil need to generate a couple of hundred keepers and produce slide show from them for an incentive trips awards banquet. I am not interested or concerned about using LR4 or LR3 for the slide show, I have a seperate workflow in FC7. The photos also upon my return to states are also posted to a photo sharing site for the members of the incentive trip to download for their personal use. This puts a premium of on metadata and keywording.
    I am an enthusiast shooting Olympus E-5 and have used LR4 since the Beta to process some weekend projects. I have found that Process 2012 is, as promised is much better at dealing with highlights and shadows and prefer how the process deals with ORF files. Much truer colors with less tweaking. For whatever reason, Process 2010 never has dealt as well as my taste would like with the E-5's RAW files. Never hd this issue with my previous 4/3 Oly bodies. Needess to say LR 4 for my needs was/is a big hit with me so far.
    My apprehension is if it is wise to create a 3000 plus image catalog over one week in LR4 Beta, betting that the catalogs will migrate to LR 4 1.0 when the Beta is over. And if there are bugs I have not encountered that would slow me down so much that the reduced work in tweaking RAWs in LR4 versus LR3 would not be worth it? (note- I have been doing redudant saves of the RAW files with my smaller projects but potentially losing as big a catalog as this project takes would be a pain even ifI had redudant original RAW. This is BTW work I am doing that while not "professionally" it is for my employer."
    I am seeking opinions here because I am really on the fence. Be gentle those of you who are far more experienced in these matters than I am.

    But, I'd give it a go, knowing the concequences.
    I put small shoots through, my racehorses in training and some more basic shoots, I've run a couple of magazine shoots through LR4.
    Rob Cole and others have commented that there may be issues getting whites to white for deep etching, so a product shoot against a white background may be an issue.
    I have a complex workflow for my mainstream clients, so that still goes through LR3. To stack, set white balances and export to TIFF, to enblend bracketted images and import the resultant TIFFS back to LR3, make the web gallery courtesy of theturninggate and then present that to my clients
    Their chosen images then have the meta data written to them, and are exported as a catalog to a separate hard drive - to maintain the same folder structure  so I can import them back into the catalog when LR4 final has imported my LR3 catalog. and these exported TIFFS are imported into LR4 and the meta data added, and all the edits done here.
    As a professional I want to go back to the backup RAW images, but I do have frequent catalog backups, and I'm loving the LR4 improvements. I can get results far faster with the beta than with LR4, I am using the library, map, develop and web, I've never used the slideshow, I dont make books, and I've still not unpacked my fabulous Canon printer since I arrived in Cape Town 4 years ago.
    However as most of the reviews of LR4 have indicated, there are very few changes to web and the library does not seem to do much more than it used to.
    Yes I get crashes several times a day, but not once has LR4 told me it was having to "repair" the catalog, it just opens and I have to find the last catalog I was working on. The time taken for LR4 to apologise and contact Adobe is so little, that the time I save in editing 10 photos more than covers that crash 3 times.
    However, I do back up my catalog several times a day.
    Victoria, Hal, etc are correct, not a chance is the sensible option, as its a beta and with a new pipeline, process and prowess, and with bugs to iron out, and the beta catalog could crash and corrupt and you'd need to open a backup catalog, or it could even break the sidecars, or the metadata in the DNG files.
    Re Hals comment that LR final may not read all the beta catalogs data correctly, that is an issue. But i've tweaked many images from LR3.x to LR4 already and 99% of my images go to clients and then can be thrown after they've received the final images. (Why should I store their photos? Its up to them to backup, I simply cant offer a storage service)
    As for personal images, how many people go back to images 6 months to years later and fiddle a little? I do, so a tweak to make it LR4 final from LR4 beta is not an issue.
    JUST SAY NO FOLKS, it may be nice, but its dangerous.

  • Captivate - bitrate suggestions for rescaled project w video only capable of "custom settings" publishing

    Hello all, it seems Captivate really limits your MP4-video publishing/encoding options when you've rescaled the project (e.g., 150% size so 'stage' can accommodate both powerpoint and video).  I want to publish in MP4 video but Captivate blocks my attempts to use any of the 'preset' settings (e.g., iPad, youtube.., etc.).  It will only allow me to publish with "custom settings" which means I need to select the target and maximum bitrates, which Captivate seems to have as 2 and 4, respectively, as defaults.  (9 is the max available, btw).  I can also choose if I want to republish each frame (or 'slide', can't remember which).  I published the first time with the custom setting defaults (2 and 4) and also checked the box for republish each frame/slide.  I just now played the resultant MP4 file saved on my computer and the results are really horrible -- continual stuttering and restarting of the audio and video (and a seeming improper synchronization with the powerpoint slides (somewhat different from the slide change points that I had selected and saved previously in the "edit video timing" option under "video".   Again, this is just from playing it from my harddrive.  I didn't even bother trying to stream it as the results would probably be even worse.
    It almost seems as if Captivate can't even handle the basic task of producing a powerpoint presentation that has one long video spread out across the different slides, with the video sharing space on the (enlarged) stage.

    I have not had extensive experience ( >1 ) but heres my input. I may be missing some info but hope this helps someone.
    Typically during the project Initiation phase, we work on getting the project charter, business case, Scope Statement, Project plan schedule etc.
    So with respect  to OCM, during the prep/initiation/kick off stage -
    1) Producing Change Charter – This helps to set the framework for the OCM. The Change Charter sets ambition, scope and initial attributes of the organizational change process for the entire project.
    Key Deliverables during this step are  OCM Plan, Purpose and Objectives
    2) Business Readiness - provides the decision makers with an initial assessment of the readiness of the business to embark on the project given the scope of change defined in the business case (deliverable from Project Initiation). The assessment comprises a high level view on which stakeholders will be impacted and how dramatic the change is going to be seen from the business organizations side. We would try to include any information on the company's previous change experiences.
    Key Deliverables during this step –
    a)     Initial impact assessment
    b)     Stakeholder map and business readiness. (we would  need to conduct meetings, interview etc )
    3) Change Management Organization – Defining change management organization is a very important as it sets the guidelines on how the proj org should be set up to meet the objectives in change charter. It helps to ensure that our leadership forces driving the changes to the business are leveraged to the maximum potential. In addition,  it sets the direction for the OCM team to support the program sponsors and steering committee members in a structured manner.
    Key Deliverables during this step Sponsorship Strategy (high level document).
    4) Communication plan-  The communication framework defined here will be followed through the project lifecycle. Hence this is a very critical step in the OCM Initial/Kick off Phase.  Typically one would need to identify the target audience and align them with the initial stakeholder mapping/impact assessment, work with the client teams to find out the messaging strategy guidelines if any (if they don’t have then define one), Identify communication feedback loops, and the timeline/key messages for all communications throughout the project.
    Key Deliverables :
    a)     Communication Plan
    b)     Communication Strategy and Framework.
    5) Organizational Alignment Strategy - ensures that considerations has been made as regards to how radical changes to processes and organization the program sponsors wants to allow or encourage in order to achieve a coherent design of system, process and organization.  If Organizational Alignment strategy is given low priority, the project team will end up in in-efficient discussions Or some times totally ignores the aspect of organizational alignment with a resulting gap between the system set-up and the processes by which the company is actually run. So, the business will still be operating but will miss out on realizing the full business benefits of the project. O rganizational Alignment Strategy Document is the key deliverable at this point.

  • HELP! Major Project due tomorrow...need quick fix advice

    I have just finished creating a movie and my deadline to submit is tomorrow. Everything looks good, but when I added in a few clips, following this... it speeds up the rest of the video (i.e. the audio is normal, but the video looks like it is moving in slight/fastforward) is there a quick fix for this? I have not experienced this before...

    You give too little details.
    iDVD can appeear to be frozen, but it still works. This is especially true for the audio encoding. Depending on the complexity and duration of your project, as well as the power of your machine, the encoding phase can take long hours.
    I understand you don't have time for experimenting, so here's what you can try:
    - open Font Book;
    - select all fonts that have a dot on the right;
    - do Edit>Resolve Dupplicates.
    Then try again with iDVD and your project. This time leave enough time, even if a right-click in the iDVD's icon in the Dock tells it's not responding.
    And check you have enough free space: at least 10% of the HDD (general rule for Mac OS X), or 10 GB (some even say 20 GB).

  • Suggestions for archiving projects for possible re-editing

    I make family history movies that often need to be resurrected a year down the track to add a new scene (e.g grandson getting married). I've just stepped up to FCP from Final Cut Express and would like to know two things:
    1. What is the best way to archive a project to an external drive so that I can recall it later with everything intact (media, transitions, titles, everything); and
    2. What files (or folders) do I need to keep from the six FCP Documents folders? I'd like to trash those that aren't necessary.

    Use the Media Manager.
    It will consolidate your project to a single folder and give you various options for your unused footage.
    The FCP user manual has a section explaining MM in detail.
