Suggested RAM for weblogic 4.51?

Hi all,
for a "medium-sized" web application, with a requirement for 1000 concurrent
users, is there an optimal amount of RAM for the system? All weblogic says
is that 64MB is required to install, but
it says nothing about the RAM-vs-load curve. Is 100MB (what we currently
have) way too low?
Am I correct in thinking that, however much RAM we put into the system, we
should set the starting and max heap size to 80% of that amount in
startWebLogic.sh?
Thanks

  • Suggestion for buying RAM for my laptop T420

Looking for suggestion buying 8GB RAM for my latptop T420
I recently bought a used T420 which came with a 2GB from an online site. Machine woks all great with the current config. I would like to install 8GB RAM to make it faster as I have been installing lot of softwares on it.
Bit confused what to look for as products have keywords like DDR3 / PCI slots / 1333MHz, 1.5V .. not sure what to get.. can someone suggest what should I be getting ? If possible can you share a link ..
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    This is from Toms Hardware;
"2x4GB allows to run in dual channel, but no, not 2 times faster, a single stick operates as a 64bit device in dual channel the two sticks operate together as a 128bit device which in reality provides for up to an appr 15% gain in performance vs single channel - the lower the latency at a given freq the better performance, however have to take into account the freq also a 1333/CL7 set can't touch a 2133/9 set in sheer performance + the higher the freq the higher the bandwidth so the more data can be dealt with in a single clock cycle"
However, the best choice for you now, since you're upgrading your RAM is to go Full Monty on it and get 2x 8GB paired, because if you only decide on getting one, then you might have a hard time finding a matching 2nd module later. But there would not be a significant performance hit you'd take from getting a different module, not anything you'd notice at least. It's just good practice to get them paired. My 2 cents.

  • Are there suggestions for managing Multiple VMWare Fusion systems sharing files with a MacBook?  Suppose I have enough ram for 3 servers to share files.

Suppose I have enough ram for 2 or three VMWare fusion systems to that could benefit from file sharing.  Is it possible to configiure each VMWare funsion instance to have a common read only file share on my desktop and a common read/write area on on my desktop?
This would allow me to extend the power and mustle of my Mac Book Air, Retina Display system to its best advantage.  Whether native Mac processing or speciality linux or Windows systems as needed.
I am having trouble allowing more than one system to share the same read only and the same read/write areas so that software does the file locking and merge controls.  Even if these do not share a common read/write area, it would be truly handy for drive space management for them to share a common read only area.
    Thanks for your thoughtful input.

It really denpends on the os running in the vm and what the permissions are set to on those shares.
I run a few vms on both a mac at home and windows at work and all other computers in my home or at work can connect to the vms without any problems. Even multiple computer at the same time.
It also depends on how you have set the vm up for networking. If you are setting it up as nat, instead of bridged, that can also cause problems access it from multiple system. With nat the vm is on its own network branch.

  • Setup issues: Apache plugin for Weblogic

    Hi,
I've spent couple of days without success trying to configure apache plugin for weblogic. I've configured in accordance with bea documentation and it works fine in windows environment but fails in Solaris 9.
Plugin log file says it's processed the request successfully but I see error message in browser saying it can't find the jsp file. It works fine if I access the weblogic box directly without going through apache.
    I'm using Weblogic 8.1 SP2, single server.
Please find below the messages appear in browser, plugin logs, and apache version.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes it is IBM Http Server, but it works fine from Windows accessing the same weblogic server I'm trying to connect from Solaris.
I see 500 error in the apache access log file.
I've also tried with by setting "MaxRequestsPerChild" to 0 in the apache config file but no good.
Please find below httpd.conf file content.
    ==============httpd.conf===============
    ServerName eus0000168.eu.verio.net
    # Based upon the NCSA server configuration files originally by Rob McCool.
    # This is the main Apache server configuration file. It contains the
    # configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
    # See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/> for detailed information about
    # the directives.
    # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
    # what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
    # consult the online docs. You have been warned.
    # The configuration directives are grouped into three basic sections:
    # 1. Directives that control the operation of the Apache server process as a
    # whole (the 'global environment').
    # 2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server,
    # which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host.
    # These directives also provide default values for the settings
    # of all virtual hosts.
    # 3. Settings for virtual hosts, which allow Web requests to be sent to
    # different IP addresses or hostnames and have them handled by the
    # same Apache server process.
    # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
    # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
    # server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do not begin
    # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
    # with ServerRoot set to "/opt/IBMIHS" will be interpreted by the
    # server as "/opt/IBMIHS/logs/foo.log".

    # at <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mpm_common.html#lockfile>);

  • How to configure a error queue for weblogic jms topic

    Hi guys.
I want to configure a error queue for weblogic jms topic. Wanted: The message goes to error destination when messages have expired or reached their redelivery limit.
    1. using jms transport configure proxy service:
    Retry Count :3
    Retry Interval:10
    Error Destination: ErrorTopic
    Expiration Policy: Redirect
I tried use the proxy service to consume message from the jms topic . and generation an error in the proxy message flow. But the message didn't goes into the error topic.
Any suggestions for this topic? Can anyone provide some helps or any useful links.
    Thanks in advance.

    1. using jms transport configure proxy service:
    Retry Count :3
    Retry Interval:10

Expiration olicy: RedirectUnlike File/SFTP, JMS proxy service definition does not have the concept of Error Destination. To accomplish similar functionality go to JMSQ on (for which proxy is configured) server console (http://localhost:7001/console) and configure the Error Destination. Following URL will help in how to configure JMS Q.
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/ConsoleHelp/taskhelp/jms_modules/queues/ConfigureQueues.html
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/ConsoleHelp/taskhelp/jms_modules/queues/ConfigureQueueDeliveryFailure.html
I tried use the proxy service to consume message from the jms topic . and generation an error in the proxy message flow. But the message didn't goes into the error topic. If every thing is configured as per above step, then the after retries, the weblogic server will put the message into JMS topic configured. Your proxy will receive from this topic.
Let me know if we are not on same page.

registration in web.xml of the default application. For whatever reason this makes
              it not work.
Remove the JSPServlet registration from the web.xml file. It will be automatically
registered (I guess default behavior) and will then work.

    Hi,
I was getting same excepction when tried to configure weblogic server (10.3.3 and 10gR3) through BPM Configuration Wizard, so I end up doing everything manually, like setting up JDBC data sources, JMS Server, JMS Modules and created DB (Directory & Engine).
Now, I am stuck at the last step of deploying the EAR files generated using BPM Process Administrator, they EAR's are generated fine but while deploying them to Weblogic server (through BPM Process Administrator), getting following exception (for "01-eng-bpmengine.ear")
<Servlet: "engineStartup" failed to preload on startup in Web application: "/albpmServices/bpmengine".

my assumption is JDBC Data Sources or the Directory/Engine database have some column name mismatch.
Let me know if somebody has a solution for this, or if I am doing something wrong.
NOTE: just found out that this happens only on Windows 2003 server, but not on OEL5 (Oracle Enterprise Linux 5).
    Thanks !!

i am getting following warning when i run my web logic managed server
No login command was found for 'WebLogic Server 10.3.5.0 Fri Apr 1 20:20:06 PDT 2011 1398638 Oracle WebLogic Server Module Dependencies 10.3 Thu Mar 3 14:37:52 PST 2011 Oracle WebLogic Server on JRockit Virtual Edition Module Dependencies 10.3 Thu Feb 3 1.
    Would appreciate suggestions to resolve.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Add -Dweblogic.StdoutDebugEnabled flag while starting the managed server and then post the verbose error message in your next post
For setting the flag follow the below steps
If your using Linux box and not using node manager to start the managed server, add the below line startManagedWebLogic.sh file
    JAVA_OPTIONS="-Dweblogic.StdoutDebugEnabled=true ${JAVA_OPTIONS}"
    echo "JAVA_OPTIONS=${JAVA_OPTIONS}"
If your using Windows box and not using node manager to start the managed server, add the below line startManagedWebLogic.cmd file
    set JAVA_OPTIONS=-Dweblogic.StdoutDebugEnabled=true %JAVA_OPTIONS%
    echo JAVA_OPTIONS=%JAVA_OPTIONS%
If you are starting the Managed server through the node manager then use these flags From Admin console : servers >>>. MS1 >>>> server start >>>> Arguments :-Dweblogic.StdoutDebugEnabled=true

  • Jolt for weblogic (5.1) and encryption ?

    Hi.
I'm trying to use encryption between Jolt for Weblogic clients and Jolt servers
    (JSL/JSH), but I can't get it work.
The JSL's "-Z" option is set to 40, and it boots without errors. Tuxedo 6.5 Security
add-on is installed. Everything works fine without the "-Z" option.
However, the Jolt client, while connecting to JSL, always catches a SessionException
    with the following message:
    Reason:NwHdlr: open: J_DH Bad Reply\nbea.jolt.JoltException: NwHdlr: open: J_DH
    Bad Reply
and nothing is logged on the server side...
Is there something to configure or install on client (i.e. weblogic) side ? Has
anyone already succeeded in using Jolt's encryption ?
    Any help welcome...
PS: I have posted this question on several groups, as far as it seems that nobody
    knows about Jolt's encryption...

    Hi Mathieu,
You may need to install a Tuxedo rolling patch. You need at least:
Tuxedo 6.4 Rolling Patch level 210,
Tuxedo 6.5 rolling patch level 47,
    see the following CR:
CR016914 (Jolt only) DiffieHellman Key exchange for Jolt
Also, you may need to have WLS SP 10 installed in order to use
40-bit encryption. See CR 45413 with additional information in the Service
    Pack release notes.
CR 45413: Added an international version of Jolt client which is required to talk
    with International Tuxedo.

  • Regarding New for weblogic portal

    hi every one.
My name is krishnarjun yada. I am the new for weblogic portal applicatons and i have a training on next weak. But i don't know much more about on portal.I mean which topics are there and how to work. I have knowledge on WebspherePortalServer. Please guide me anyone it's very need for me.
Please reply to <email address removed by moderator> ASAP.

    *** moderator note ***
I've removed your email address from the post because a) you are likely to get lots of spam in your email by publishing it in public and b) responses to issues should be posted on the forum, as this is not a personal support service where people should be contacting you directly.
Also please note that this is a forum of volunteers doing their own jobs, and leading their own lives, so to request help "ASAP" or "Urgently" etc. is not appropriate and considered very rude by many people.  Such urgent issues suggest a live system that has got problems and a company is losing money or people's lives are at risk, in which case the issue should be raise via My Oracle Support (MOS) which is the paid-for support channel for Oracle.
The description of your issue, wanting to know more about a product before your training, is not an urgent issue. (Surely the point of the training is to learn it?)

  • How to install Workshop for WebLogic and WebLogic Portal?

    Hi All,
I am new to Weblogic Portal. I would like to start learning Oracle Weblogic Portals..
Can anyone please guide me, how to install Workshop for WebLogic and WebLogic Portal?
As per the ""Tutorials – Getting Started with WebLogic Portal"" (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/tutorials/setup_dev_env.html)
we need to install the Workshop for WebLogic and WebLogic Portal.
Please suggest me where should i get the required environments/IDE?
    Thanks,
    Harish.

    Hi Harish
    1. If this is your first time with Weblogic Portal, I would recommend to download the latest Weblogic Portal Software Rel 10.3.2 from this bottom link. Check Accept Radio button, for windows download windows installer. Its about 1 GB file. This software includes Eclipse IDE, Weblogic Server and Weblogic Portal.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/wlp/index.html
    2. During the installation process, make sure at one point you select Custom mode (NOT default Typical mode). In next following screens you will see all bundles checked EXCEPT for Samples. So make sure you check Samples Check box both under Weblogic Server and Weblogic Portal. Then proceed. This will install full Weblogic Workshop (Eclipse IDE), Weblogic Server and Weblogic Portal. This is the good installation package. Also it will install samples for Portal and Server. If you select all default typical mode, it will NOT install samples. You can install samples later on also, but its good at installation time itself you select custom and check Samples also.
    3. WLP 10.3.2 uses Eclipse IDE. If you are familiar with Eclipse IDE this should be helpful. Otherwise also, its ok.
    4. For learning WLP, in Eclipse IDE, you need to create Portal EAR Project, then Portal Web Project. Inside portal web project create simple jsp hello world portlets and a simple portal.
    5. For Deploying and Testing Portal application you need to create Portal Domain using config wizard. You can see this from Start -> Programs -> Oracle Weblogic Portal shortcut -> Weblogic Server -> Tools -> Configuration Wizard.
    6. You can start Workshop IDE from Start -> Program Files -> Oracle Weblogic Portal ...-> Eclipse For Weblogic 10.3.2
Here are the links for quick start guide for portal development. Please do refer them.

  • Best Amount Of RAM For Web / Media Designer?

    Hello Everyone,
First post and jumping right in.
I'm moving to a MAC permanently and this will be my first purchase (iMac 27" Quad Core). Can anyone tell me the most suitable RAM upgrade I'll be needing? My budget really doesn't allow for the 16Gig right now unless it's really needed.
I do run mostly the Adobe CS line sometimes 3-5 programs at once (Photoshop - Dreamweaver - and most memory hogging-ly Premiere). Soon I will be getting into Final Cut Pro.
Needless to say aside from a myriad of other issues performance and lag-time is why I'm jumping ship from PC.
Does everyone think I'll be pretty satisfied going with 8Gig of RAM to start or given the above info am I wasting time not going straight for the 16Gig?
I've spoken with a few designers and they've told me while the Mac Pro is incredible - it's overkill for what I need storage and ...well...everything else wise and the common saying has been - get the iMac and upgrade the ram.
So I humbly ask you experts. To summarize my wordiness above
8 or 16? What are your thoughts as well as any other great add ons that could be of use to a designer with a large check from a recent project burning a hole right through his pocket?!
    =)

I would recommend adding 2 x 4 GB for a total of 12 GB; you can then see if that will be enough. Please note: there have been posts here regarding problems of the new iMacs when adding third party RAM for a total of 16 GB; there have been no problems reported if the 16 GB is OEM RAM (such as Samsung or Hynix, which is what Apple has been using). So, if you intend to keep the original 2 x 2 GB, then I'd suggest adding 8 GB.
That is what I did; I do a fair amount of video editing and the iMac is doing just fine with 12 GB. Also, iMacs are quite finicky about their RAM - do not buy any brand "value" RAM - stick with quality RAM from reputable vendors with lifetime warranties, such as OWC (macsales.com) or Crucial (or Samsung which will be more expensive).

  • AM policy agents for Weblogic help

I installed a Policy Agent for Weblogic Server 8.1 When I try to start the Weblogic server after modifications, the portal server throws an exception....
    com.sun.identity.agents.AmAgentFilter not found
When u enter the URL for that application running on Weblogic , it is supposed to be forwarded to the Identity Management page ...but this does not happen..
It is apparently able to read the web.xml file in the Weblogic application but is not able to find the particular class above....nor is it able to contact the IDM.
    Any suggestions?

  • Replace Oracle Workshop for Weblogic with OEPE?

    Hi,
I've been working with Oracle Workshop for Weblogic for over 3 years and it isn't working as well as I hoped. I recently heard about OEPE and thought it might work as a drop-in replacement for OWfW.
Here is the technology stack that I currently rely on OWfW for development:
    Weblogic Server 10.3.0
    Weblogic Portal 10.3.0
    ODSI
    OSB
I develop portals/portlets, pageflow applications, web services, dataspaces, and OSB artifacts with OWfW.
So, I downloaded Eclipse 3.7 (Indigo) and used the Eclipse Update Manager to install OEPE:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27086_02/help/oracle.eclipse.tools.common.doc/html/install.html#update_manager
I selected every possible component and didn't leave any option unchecked for the install.
Now, as I mentioned, I already have the servers installed (WLS, WLP, ODSI, OSB). I was hoping that OEPE would give me the same ability to develop an ODSI dataspace, for example, as OWfW...but it appears it doesn't. Actually, I can't find any tooling support for WLP, ODSI, or OSB.
Can someone confirm that the tooling support for these technologies is missing in OEPE?
    I read this link:
    https://blogs.oracle.com/middleware/entry/installing_eclipse_for_osb_development
which suggests that Eclipse can be used for OSB development but, as I understand it, it requires me to install OEPE in a different way (along with Weblogic Server). Furthermore, I don't want to install Weblogic Server 11g because I already have all the servers installed that I want to use.
Can I get some advice on how to proceed?
    Thanks...
    Kevin

I see. And you're hoping that OEPE would be better. Since Workshop is Eclipse, I would expect the OEPE support from various products to simply be reincarnations of the same Eclipse plugins - and perhaps the behavior to be similar.
"the best way to describe it is "flaky". Intermittently, there are WLS deployment or IDE errors. It also occasionally (and randomly) hangs, is slow, and strange behaviour is very common. Just as randomly, errors will go away."
Seeing the errors (from the workshop log and the server log) would be helpful. Without any other information, my best guess is that Workshop and/or WLS is low on memory, or even that the machine they are running on is low on memory. Workshop memory can be increased with the arguments -Xmx and -XX:MaxPermSize in <workshop>/workshop.ini. The memory settings for wls are in the <domain>/bin/setDomainEnv file.
Somethings that you might find chewing up a lot of memory is many/large xml schemas - they get compiled into xmlbeans and held in memory. If you have several projects in a single workspace, you might consider putting them in separate workspaces.

  • Oracle Workshop for WebLogic is slow

    Hi
I am using Oracle Workshop for WebLogic Version: 10.3 & Build id: 1137967 on Windows7 32-bit OS with 4GB RAM
It is too slow when creating/updating proxy message flow.
Is there any settings to change?

How much memory have you assigned to IDE? How many projects are present in the workspace? Which JDK are you using?
Make sure you have assigned enough memory to IDE (at least 1 GB). Close all projects which are not in use. Try with JRockit if you are using Sun JDK
