Suggestions to create a "Done" button dialog box

I have created an Automator APP to remove certain files using a shell script.
Now I would like to add a "Done" button-type dialog box when this shell script has completed its' task. Is there a way to do this? Thanks everyone in advance.

You could add a Run AppleScript action at the end of your workflow with the following script:

I am not able to help you with the current method you are using - which seems an odd one in that you are using a menu script to do this????
I would have done the page completely differently - instead of slicing it up into a vastly complex table, I'd have added the image to the page and then used an imagemap. Then I'd have used this script to add the popups (as toolitps) that you can be as simple or as complex as you wish: http://boxover.swazz.org/.

How to create a custom file dialog box/vi (win)??

Hello,
I'd like to create a custom file dialog box to handle the reading of my tdms files. Basicly I want to extend the existing file select dialog box with a graphical preview of the data in the selected file. I know I can create all the logic for file selection by hand and use a list box to display the filelist, but I would rather prefer to somehow use the existing windows controls. So is it possible to get the windows file selector on the front panel of a vi and react to the user selection? If so, is there any example available on how to do this? Any other options? I'm using labview 8.2

I wouldn't know that Microsoft provides access to the controls that Explorer and file dialog consist of.
There might be a different and more powerful solution though. The
WINDOWS Explorer / file dialog have a plugin API that allows you to
associate your own application for thumbnail creation with a particular
file extension. That way, TDMS thumbnails will show in any instance of
Explorer and
File Dialog without you having to make your own dialog. Basically, you
would need to compile the VI that creates the thumbnail into a
LabVIEW-built DLL and then wrap this DLL with some C++ boilerplate code
that Microsoft provides. You might want to have a look at the bottom of
this article to get an idea of how the whole thing works:

How to stop "Create New CSS Rule" dialog box

Made the mistake of allowing an Apple tech talk me into an OS X "Install in place". He assured me that all application settings would remain the same as before.
Now, when holding down the "shift" key and typing a word in all caps (in Design View), the "Create new CSS Rule" dialog box pops up and writes:

I am trying to find the setting in preferences to disable this, and since the behavior started after OS X "install in place", something must have changed. I just want to type in design view and not have to deal with Dreamweaver overriding what I'm doing.

...is created anyway.I just want to type a word into an existing div with no changes or dialog boxes or any input from Dreamweaver. I was able to do that before, and cannot do it now. There must be some setting that I am missing in preferences.

How to create a non hiding dialog box in swing

Hi there,
I want to create a non hiding Dialog box similar to MS Word Find/Replace dialog.
The Dialog should not hide when the focus is lost. Instead it should become inactive & should remain on the top.
Could someone please let me know how to create such a dialog in Swing?

Change color and font in two button dialog box

The two button dialog is boring.
I need to change the font (larger), the background color, the button color, and hilite the important part of the message.
Ex: is this color RED ? I'd like to see RED is red.

I think it will be better if you create your own dialog window. Create a vi with all the features you want the dialog window to perform. Edit the connectors of the vi so they return what you want to retrieve (Right-click the upper right icon in the fron panel of the vi and select "Show Connectors"). Then, edit the configuration of your vi so it behave like a dialog box (Right-click the upper right icon again and select "VI Setup..."). Finally, add your vi to your main application vi.

How do I create an event driven dialog box that allows the user to input constants into my program?

My goal is to have a box pop up when the executable for my program is run. The box will have a bunch of fields, and an OK and Cancel button. Ideally, the user will be made to change some of the values, and warnings (with another dialogue box) will pop up if the values are nonsensical, allowing the user to proceed or go back and change them. The constants will be clustered, to be used later in other VIs.
Does anyone have a good template for this sort of VI? I looked at this article: http://www.ni.com/tutorial/8768/en/, but it doesn't go into enough detail to be helpful to me.

This should get you started down the pathJust replace User data with your cluster and do the data integrity check in the value change event use a simple one button dialog to notify the user which values are out of compliance and disable and grey the OK button untill all conditions are met.

When creating an event the dialog box appears I set the description & time and press save and close and nothing happens. I have reloaded lightening to no avail

When I try to create an event I click on the date and put the information in the dialog box and click Save& Close but nothing happens. THe dialog box just stays there. I have made sure I am on the latest version of Thunderbird and Lightening. I have deleted lightening and reinstalled from the website and still the same thing.
I checked the error log in Thunderbird and this is what it said

I am having this problem. At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2. I am not sure why this is happening.
My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps. I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them. The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage. It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup. With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up. The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete. This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems.

Create shape pop-up dialog box

I am trying to determine what I perceive as a quirk in the Draw Shpe tool (Rectangle, Ellipse, etc.). Usually, I touch the tool, draw my shape and... done! But occasionally through some accidental mouse-motion that I cannot determine, I get the shape plus the pop-up dialog shown below. Can anyone tell me
What mouse-movement, apparently just as I have completed the shape, is bringing up the dialog box?
Is there a way to prevent this from happening in Preferences?
Is this new to Photoshop CC? I have been a casual Photoshop user since Version 2, but I have only seen this in CC, and then, only in the last month or two.

I solved the problem, and, as it turns out, it had nothing to do with Photoshop, but rather with a mouse that had started to go bad. I replaced the mouse and all mouse-motion behaviors returned to normal.

Creating a Save As dialog box with Applescript for Excel 2008

This is going to be part of a larger script. I'm trying to figure out how to make the default save location to where the file opened from and the default file name to the current filename in the dialog box.
Here is what I go so far...

The choose file name command supports a default location parameter that tells it where to open the dialog:
set myFile to choose file name with prompt "Save file as:" default location (alias "Macintosh HD:Users:username:foldername:")
So you need to look at the Excel dictionary to determine the path to the current file and insert it into the script. Every version of Excel has slightly different dictionaries so the version you're running is critical to getting the right syntax.

Excel 2010 missing default suggested file name in Save As dialog box

I’m using Excel 2010 running on Windows 7 (32 bit). When I open a certain file which produces the following message: "A file is in a different file format than its extension indicates", and then go to “Save As” (or “Save”) the
file, the default suggested file name is missing (blank). This didn't occur in previous versions of Excel.
In previous versions, Excel would automatically populate the original file name in to the File Name field.
I have searched all over the net, looking for a way to change Excel so that it will once again populate the file name in this situation.
To reproduce:
Create a new blank workbook
save as type “Web Page”, (i.e. File name: “Blank Example.html”)
Close workbook
In windows, rename file from .html to .xls (i.e. rename “Blank Example.html” to “Blank Example.xls”)
In Excel open renamed file (i.e. “Blank Example.xls”) and click “Yes” when prompted with the “A file is in a different file format than its extension indicates” message.
Do a “Save As” and you will notice that the File Name is blank. In previous versions, this field would contain the current workbook file name
(i.e. “Blank Example.xls”)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In order to re-produce this, you need to answer "yes" to the rename file prompt and then continue with step 5 (above).
The reason for this is not an exercise in futility - I assure you. At my work and elsewhere, when web developers have created features to permit the end user to save web data in Excel format, often times the Excel files are saved locally in Excel's
html format (but with the .xls
extension).
(I actually prefer the .xls
extension, because it is easier to just double-click the file to open in Excel, rather than to select the open-with and then select Excel. a file with the .html extension will default open in your default browser. Now, I could change my default program
for the .html extension, but that would only solve a part of the problem and would not really address the bigger issue and that being that Microsoft changed a behavior in Excel and may not even be aware that it was a much used feature. )
To continue, when I go to open the resulting Excel file, I am prompted with the message that the file type does not match the extension (which is fine and not bothersome to me). It's at this point when I go to save the file that I get really annoyed.
In previous versions of Excel, the default file name would be pre-filled with the current name of the file and the default file type would state that it is a Web html file. I would just change the file type to Excel Workbook and hit enter to save.
I would be prompted with "Are you sure you want to overwrite your existing file?" message and I would click "yes" and that would be that.
However, in Excel 2010, because the default file name is blank, I then need to re-type the name into the field to save the file.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

How to create non-modal dialog box?

I'm trying to create a non-modal dialog box. The purpose is to show an alarm for the user but should leave the calling VI continuing to run. I have created such a thing -- the problem is that I can't figure out how to get the dialog box to go away! It stops running but the window just hangs around. See the attached VIs and image.

Enable "Prevent this website from creating dialog boxes" for a page

Firefox has an option to prevent a website from creating a any more dialog boxes. I have a website which creates too many of them, so I want those to be disabled whenever I visit that website.
So, is it possible to disable dialog boxes permanently for a page, or even something that I can do everytime before visiting that page..

JFileChooser centers the directories in the dialog box

Hello,
I have been searching the forums for days looking for inspiration on my problem and haven't found anything.. (If I've missed it, sorry :( )
My problem is as follows:
I am using JFileChooser to create a pop-up dialog box to open and save files. Unfortunately in the box the directories and files are centered making it look quite bad!!
I know the list button is not enabled, but is there a way I can write my own implementation for it? Err.. any help on how to would be great!!
By the way, if I run the app on my local env (Using Forte for Java 4 it looks fine), its when I put the jars on the server that the problem appears..

I just finished dealing with the same problem, which I had caused by incorporating a multiline JLabelUI implementation into my app (http://manning.com/sbe/files/uts2/Chapter27html/Chapter27.htm). It isn't likely that your problem has the same cause, but you might as well check--someone may have snuck it in on you ;).
Anyway, here's what I learned. The file/directory view in JFileChooser is just a JList, which uses JLabels to render its cells. JLabelUI, in turn, relies in the method SwingUtilities.layoutCompoundLabel. There are two versions of that method, and one of them is not "orientation-aware"--if the label's horizontal alignment is set to the default, LEADING, it will be converted to CENTER.
Of course JLabelUI should be calling the correct method, but if you're using a custom LookAndFeel, that may have gotten changed. In my case, the LabelUI wasn't calling either of the SwingUtilities methods, but a custom, non-orientation-aware replacement. Also, you may have a version conflict. I don't know when they added this component-orientation stuff, but maybe the JVM on your server doesn't have it.

Help me out with a simple dialog box task

i have used a single dialog box connected to a case structure..but the problem is it only executes true case after pressing "OK" button.
i need the false case to keep on executing untill "OK" button is pressed.. please heelp me out..

I agree that the spamming of the same question over and over is annoying and makes me LESS likely to help you. However, I will try to answer you.
I believe that you are probably fairly new to LabVIEW. LabVIEW is a dataflow language. As such, each node operates as soon as all of its nodes have data. Your One Button Dialog Box does not produce data until the button is pressed. Therefore, there is no way for the Case structure to execute either the True or the False case until the One Button Dialog Box produces its data.
So, there are several ways to work with this. Several have already been suggest in this or one of the other 3 queries.
You could place the button on the front panel. If it is on the front panel, it will be read immediately and the value of the button will be available. If it is inside of the loop, the value will be available each time the loop is run. So the suggestion to use a button on the front panel would be a good one.
If you need to use the dialog box, you could use a producer-consumer architecture. The dialog would be in the producer and the case code would be in the consumer. I think that this is not as good of a solution, but if this is part of a larger application it may be desirable to you for other reasons. There is an example producer-consumer that you can find in the example finder and I think that there is a template for one as well.
There are other ways to do this as well, but they get more and more complicated and I don't think you have the experience necessary to accomplish them. I also don't think you need to make things that complicated for such a simple task.
