Sum data for a given day within a given date range

Anyone know how to add data in a coulumn if the adjacent column meets a specific date range? For example I want to add up hours flown (pilot logbook) in each specific month on a seperate type.

Hi Jeff,
Here's a simple example of how you might do this. Before getting involved with the EOMONTH function you can try a less compact (but somewhat easier to understand) approach. Add Year and Month columns to your log. You can extract the values from the date using the MONTH and YEAR functions or just enter them manually. Then do something like this:
The formula in the B2 of the Year table, copied down, is:
         =SUMIFS(Log::$E,Log::$A,A2)
The formula in C2 of the Month table, copied down, is:
         =SUMIFS(Log::$E,Log::$A,A2,Log::$B,B2)
These two formulas look at the cell(s) to their left and pull the corresponding totals out of the Log table.
Think of the arguments within SUMIFS as first the column of data to be summed, followed by column-criteria pairs.  The criteria are in the cells to the left. The columns are in the Log table.

Only a very small fraction of posters will study the posted code to figure it out, as evidenced by the fact, that if the code is not 100% cut-n-paste capable for their assignment, they will come back and complain that this or that does not work, or was not done.

This will be good learning for the OP, why don't you point out what is done badly.
    Did you mean using
    now.add(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH, daysToAdd);
    instead of
    now.set(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH, now.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH)+daysToAdd);?
That is the main crux of it, yes, but homework or not, you should actually attempt to catch and handle the exceptions, rather than simply declaring "throws Exception". Handling exceptions in the homework assignments will cause that to become a habit and you will actually do it correctly without thinking about it. Just like constantly declaring "throws Exception" in your homework will also make that a habit, and guarnatee that you will someday also do that when it counts, thereby causing all sorts of problems (usually for coworkers).
if its something else then please do let us know.
I can also learn how to do it good :)

  • How to get the date for the last day of a week?

Is there a easy way to get the date for the last day of week?
eg a week starts on monday and end on sunday
January 11, 2005 is the start date for the week
January 17, 2005 is the end date for the week
    or
    say
February 26, 2003 is the start date for the week
March 5, 2003 is the end date for the week
I just need a simple way of figuring that out....
I figured out how to get the start date for the week but just can't get the latter..
formatting of the date is not of a concern.. that I know how to do
    thanks in advance

How about something like the following?
         Calendar someDay = new GregorianCalendar(2005,0,11);//2005 Jan, 11
//Note above that January is 0, not 1, as counting starts from 0.
          someDay.add(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH,6); //add 6 days
         java.util.Date  lastDayOfWeek = someDay.getTime();
//If someDay was the start of a week, lastDayOfWeek should now be
//the last day of that week.
         System.out.println(lastDayOfWeek.toString() );

  • VF01 Determine Billing date for billing index and printout to current date

    Hi
we need to determine the Billing date for billing index and printout to current date
What can I do to determine automatically at the time of creation current day to Billing date for billing index and printout?
    please let me know
    Best Regards,

    Hi Beatriz ,
You have two options here. you can chose either of these solutions:
    1.
    A. T-Code: VTFL ( if using del related billing)   For the billing document and delivery, at item level assign the copying requirement 011 or if you are currently using some other routine then you can use following in that
    VBRK-FKDAT = SY-DATUM.
    B. T-code VTFA (if using order related billing)
Similar to A, using copying requirement 011.
    2. You may also try option of Checking in the User Exit for the Program RV60AFZA & RV60AFZA.
Please let us know if this helps

  • Due date falls on 80 days from base line date ........but end of that month

    Hi All
Can any one please guide me in creating a payment term
The Base Line Date would be 80 days from Posting date ........... But end of that month
    Example
Posting date 01.01.2009 so the base line date would be on 21st March
    01.01 ;          31.01 ;                            31 Days
    01.02 ;          28.02 ;                            28 Days
    01.03 ;          21.03 ;                            21 Days               80 Days
But due date should fall on end of that month 31st of march
So irrespective of any day calculated as above in that month  it will always take the baseline date as last day of the month
Its Picking up the posting day as Baseline date from Transaction VA01 -> Additional data tab -> ETD ( Festinated Time of Departure)
From this date it need to calculate the due date as above ( 80 day but last day of the month)
    Please Guide
    Many thanks in advance
    Aadi

    Hi Aditya,
You may have to create 2 payment terms using the day limit option to meet this requirement.
    Follows the below steps -
    T-code OBB8
    Term 1
Payment terms = xxxx (as you wish)
Day limit = any number between 10-15 (you may fix an appropriate date as you think fit for your business)
Default for baseline date = Posting date
    Payment terms/fixed date = 31
    Payment terms/additional months = 2
    Term 2
Payment terms = same name as above
    Day limit = 31
Default for baseline date = Posting date
    Payment terms/fixed date = 31
    Payment terms/additional months = 3
Logic here is... for all invoices with posting date on or before 10th-15th of a month, 80th day will fall definitely on the 2nd month. Invoices with posting date after 15th, the 80th day will fall on the 3rd month.
You have to take a concious decision on the day limit number. Because 80 days will not exactly work for all the months.

    Mike

  • Display data for last working day of month

    Hi
I am trying to chart values for the last six years but only to plot the value for the last working day of the month, except for the current month where I am taking an average of the month so far. Everything I've tried has so far failed spectacularly. Has anyone resolved a similar problem?

If I understand your dilemma correctly, you may want to create a cross-tab and then create the chart off of the cross-tab. Is the data in your tables that you want to chart on something like this:
             4/30   5/30   6/30   7/31   8/29       Sept.
    Row 1    20      30      10      25      20    (avg for month)
    Row 2    5         10      8       15     15    (avg for month)
    etc.
If so, 1) can you show an example of the data and 2) what kind of chart do you want to create?

  • Getting the date for the previous day

How do I get the previous day's date with LabView 7.0? Is there a built in function that will allow me to do this (taking into account the number of days in a month, leap years etc) or do I have to write my own vi?
    Thank you,
    KB

All you have to do is use the Get Date/Time in Seconds and then subtract the number of seconds in a day. The result is a time stamp that should account for everything.

I am using following query and i need to replace my date field value if it's past 30 days, means Check the I_Date, If with in past 30 days put "X".
    Query

    select l.city, l.state, l.zip, l.loc_name,

I_date should be in format of YYYYMMDDHH24MISS.

  • Obtaining Metadata Browser data for a single collection within a catalog?

I have 8075 images out of 29000 in a catalog. These images are in
approximately 35 folders but are all tied to a single unique keyword. I
have moved the images to a new collection.
What I want is to have the Metadata browser query only the collection to
give me statistics on lens use, camera used, etc. I seem to be only able to
get information here for the entire catalog. Is there a way to have the
Metadata browser query only a portion of a catalog?
If not, how can I export this collection to a catalog so that I can query
    the information?
    LR 1.1, Vista,
    Thank you
    Rikk Flohr

I noticed this too - really a non-starter to use the Metadata browser with a large catalog when you want a more 'local' search.
I keep coming back to the observation that it would be really helpful for the community of users if the LR team could maybe communicate a bit with the Bridge team, and get the benefit of the several iterations of the latter tool.
I still can't do all my work, effectively, in just LR. I switch back and forth between the two.
Is this a case of NIH syndrome in the LR team?

  • Sales order schedule date is a (working) day before Scheduled ship date

In MRP/MPS planning, the forecast consumption is occuring for all sales orders at a date (sales order schedule date) which is always a working day before the Scheduled Ship Date (SSD). What is the logic?
    Time fences are not used.
E.g. Sales order is scheduled to ship (SSD) on 30th Nov, in forecast set > Forecast items > Consumptiion > Detail, the sales order schedule date is a day before SSD.

    Hi,
This is a complex issue; best solution is by using APO/GATP.
If not, then in ERP only, the second best is:
    1) Work with assembly processing in SO, meaning that a production/planned order is automatically created in the customer order during order creation.
    2) Then, after the order is created it is scheduled, and the delivery date proposal is based on that.
    3) Now you can check in the order that there are no capacity overloads, and all capacity required to produce on the proposed date is available. If yes, you're done. If not, it gets a bit complex, since you actualy need to switch to capacity planning, do capacity leveling and dispatch (PP), and the you get a new feasible schedule proposal based on that.
APO/GATP could do all that automatically!

  • Setting default opening date for iCal calendar to be some future date?

Is it possible to set the default date at which an iCal calendar opens to be some specified future date?
I want to enter multiple events for a week-long program that begins on November 1, 2008, into a special iCal calendar for that program, as the dates and times for those events become known between now and then. So, each time I click on that calendar's icon, I'd like to have it open at 1 Nov 08, instead of having to step forward to that date each time I re-open the calendar.
    Any way to do this?

    christ. no answer to this?
i just did this on a trip to boston and i /thought/ i had it fixed when i went to paris recently.
perhaps getting a new motherboard on my MBP means i have to set my settings again to get this to work? does anyone know if this only works by setting a /combination/ of settings on iCloud and in iCal preferences...?

  • How to get XLR to show BPs with no transaction data for a given date range

    Hi -
I am building an XLR report that does a comparison of net sales data across two periods for a given sales employee's BPs.
The report has the row expansion:
    FACT BPA(*) SLP(SlpName = "ASalesPersonNameHere") ARDT(Code = "ARCreditMemo", "Invoice") Group by BPA.CardName
    and column expansions:
    FIG(SO_TaxDate = @StartDate:@EndDate)
    and
    FIG(SO_TaxDate = @StartDate2:@EndDate2)
where @StartDate, @EndDate, @StartDate2, @EndDate2 are parameters that define the two ranges of dates.
The column formulas are, from left to right:
    =ixDimGet("BPA", "CardName")
=ixGet("SO_DocTotal")      <-- filtered by column expansion for first date range
=ixGet("SO_DocTotal")      <-- filtered by column expansion for second date range
The report works fine except for one problem, I would like it to include BPs for which no transaction occurred in either date range as well.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Lang Riley

Really appreciate your feedback!  Those are good suggestions. I should have mentioned that I had already tried both those suggestions.
Removing FACT on BPA in this case ends up returning all the BPs and not respecting the SLP(SlpName = "aName") part of the query.
Using **, i.e., * or #NULL, makes no change in the resulting data in this case.  I had thought that ** would be the solution, but it didn't change the outcome.  I still have BPs for which when their sales employee is used as the filter and they have no transactions for either date range, and yet they still do not appear.
I should further mention that the IXL query, as it now stands, does return BPs for which one of the periods has no data, just not both, and I have verified that applicable BPs with no transaction data for both periods do exist in my data set.  It seems that perhaps the IXL query needs to be restructured?  Please keep the suggestions coming including how this query might be restructured if necessary.

  • Difference between Due Date for All Tasks and Duration per task in an approval workflow

    Hello,
I'm starting to read up and learn about approval workflows in Designer 2010.  I am confused by the fields "Due Date for all Tasks" and the "Duration per task".  I understand that the Due date for all Tasks is the date that all
of the tasks in the workflow must be completed by.  And I understand that the duration means each task has x number of days to complete.
But I dont know whey we need them both.  If I have the task duration set to two days and there are 3 tasks involved, then wouldn't the due date be 6 days from the start?  Why would I have a due date for all tasks that is completely different than
the sum of the duration of days for each task?
    Please help shed some light!

    Hi Michelle,
Due date for all tasks, this setting specifies the date by which all tasks are due. It’s used for serial and parallel
    task.
Duration per tasks, this setting specifies the date by which an individual
task is due, it’s used for serial workflow participants.
Note, when you create an approval workflow, select task process participants(approvers oob approval workflow), we can also
select once at a time(serial) or all at once(parallel).
