Sun LDAP to SQL server provisiong

I am a new to Sun IDM.
I am planning to use Sun IDM for a simple provisioning requirement. We have all our external (yahoo, hotmail type) users in our sun LDAP and need to be synced (one way) to a sql server based on certain group type. So far from sun documentation I could figure out that I have to
(1) switch on retro change log of source LDAP.
(2) configure a active sync adapter.
However, I am not sure where to start. I just configured the source LDAP as a resource and did a (full reconciliation) from it. Here are my questions.
(1) should I configure the source LDAP user as "service Provider User " OR "Identity Manager User". Asking since, the users are outsider, not our employee.
(2) After the "Load from Resource" operation I see list of accounts pulled from the LDAP. However, I don't see any other attributes other than userId (account Id) in the "List Account" page. do I have to customize the ../accout/List.jsp page ?
(3) what are the next high level tasks to sync the changes to a sql server ?
Thanks!

Thank You Roman, Looks like I need some more spoon feedings to overcome the initial learning curve.
I did what you suggested. Created two resources (Ldap & SQL Server). I could load the accounts from the LDAP resources. Now I wanted to do the followings:-
(A) Load users from Ldap to Sql server based on the filter say "userAssociation=Finance", where 'userAssociatation' is custom attributes in the LDAP for the user object.
(B) Continue the above said provisioning for all new users from Ldap.
I tried to Edit "Synchronization Policy" for SQLServer resource. My question is,
(1) Where in the "Edit synchronization policy" screen I can mention the rule "userAssociation=Finance" ?
(2) I have enabled the "Retro Changelog Plugin" for the LDAP. Do I have to mention this somewhere for this Ldap to SQLServer provisioning ?
Thanks!

  • Creating a connection pool using SQL Server 2000, Sun ONE Application Serve

    Has any one succesfully configured SQL Server 2000 to work with Sun ONE Application Server 7 on Windows 2000 server service pack 4? I am embarking on a new J2EE project and I need to configure it as soon as possible.
    The problem I am having is that, when I ping the data souce name, there is a connection error.
    I have set the data source name and other details as follows:
    Under JDBC, I have set the parameters for the connection pool as follows:
    Data Source Name:      com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    Database Name:          jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;DatabaseName=Test
    User:               test
    Password:          test
    In the JVM settings page, I have set the prefix class path as follows for the location of the Microsoft JDBC
    drivers that I downloaded as follows:
    c:\microsoft\drivers/lib/msbase.jar
    c:\microsoft\drivers/lib/msutil.jar
    c:\microsoft\drivers/lib/mssqlserver.jar
    Under JVM Options, there is a strange setting which I don't understand: perhaps this is the cause of the
    connction error?
    -Djdbc.drivers=com.pointbase.jdbc.jdbcUniversalDriver
    Please help????

  • Unable to connect Informatica on Sun Solaris to a SQL Server datasource

    Background*
    We have a fully operational OBIEE with OBIA Apps infrastructure running with Informatica PC8.6 ETL suite. Informatica services are running on a Sun Solaris 64 bit platform.
    We currently extract data from two Oracle EBS 11.5.10 sources. Now we are trying to extract data from a new MS SQL Server 2000 source into the OBAW.
    Problem*
    I'm trying the use the native ODBC 5.2 Data Direct driver to connect the the data source.
    I've gone through and completed the 9 steps of the 'Connecting to an ODBC Data Source' chapter in Informatica on our Solaris Unix box.
    I've made the following changes to the *.profile*
    # ODBC HOME
    ODBC_HOME=/oracle/Informatica/PowerCenter8.6.0/ODBC5.2
    export ODBC_HOME
    ODBC_INI=/oracle/Informatica/PowerCenter8.6.0/ODBC5.2/odbc.ini
    export ODBC_INI
    PATH=${PATH}:$ODBC_HOME/bin
    export PATH
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:$ODBCHOME/lib
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    I've also made changes to the odbc.ini file as suggested:
    [MSS_DB]
    Driver=/oracle/Informatica/PowerCenter8.6.0/ODBC5.2/lib/DWmsss22.so
    Description=DataDirect 5.2 SQL Server Wire Protocol
    Address=MssServer.xxx.co.uk,1433
    AlternateServers=
    AnsiNPW=Yes
    ConnectionRetryCount=0
    ConnectionRetryDelay=3
    Database=MIS_Report_DB
    LoadBalancing=0
    LogonID=myuser
    Password=mypwd
    QuotedId=No
    ReportCodePageConversionErrors=0
    InstallDir=/oracle/Informatica/PowerCenter8.6.0/ODBC5.2
    I've created the Connection--> Relational --> ODBC connection on Workflow Manager
    I've specified the username/pwd and connect string MssServer.xxx.co.uk@MIS_Report_DB. I've called it exactly the same as MSS_DB specified in the odbc.ini
    When I run the workflow. It fails but doesn't throw up any error/error code in the session log. The last 3 lines of the Session Log below and then it just bombs out within 5 secs.
    PETL_24006 : Starting data movement.
    TM_6660 : Total Buffer Pool size is 4234808 bytes and Block size is 468312 bytes.
    DBG_21438 : Reader: Source is [MssServer.xxx.co.uk], user [myuser]
    If you ping from the Unix server it says 'MssServer.xxx.co.uk is alive'
    Can anyone suggest what we need to do different or spot something obvious?

  • Setting up Connection Pool in sun app server 8.1 with SQL server 2000

    Hello,
    I am trying to set up a connection pool & data source for SQL server 2000 (MSDE 2000).
    Here is what I attempted to do:
    I have a pool data source in a jar file called poll.jar and I copied it to C:\sun\Appserver\lib (Install dir\lib)
    com.microsoft.mspool.PoolDataSource is the pool data source class.
    In the Admin console, JDBC>Connection pools. Selected NEW and made the following entries.
    GENERAL SETTINGS
    Name: MsPool
    Datasource class name : com.microsoft.mspool.PoolDataSource
    Resource type: javax.sql.DataSource
    POOL SETTINGS: default values
    CONNECTION VALIDATION: default values
    TRANSACTION ISOLATION: default values
    PROPERTIES:
    DataSourceName:PoolDataSource
    NetworkProtocol:tcp
    DatabaseName: myDB
    Password:User specific
    user:User specific
    server: localhost
    PortNumber:1433
    I get the following error when I ping:
    Operation 'pingConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean. Target exception message: Class name is wrong or classpath is not set for : com.microsoft.mspool.PoolDataSource.
    Can any one help me if have a solution?
    Thanks in advance.

    You need to copy your jar to ${AS_INSTALL}/domains/domain1/lib/ext (replace domain1 by your
    domain). Another option is to leave the jar in ${AS_INSTALL}/lib and add a entry in the classpath-suffix element of your domain.xml.

  • URGENT ! Using Sun's J2EE RI Server with MS SQL Server 2000

    I'm using the J2EE Server that comes with the J2EE 1.3.1 package from Sun. I'm trying to load a datasource using the free MS SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC, but I'm always getting this error (I've run out of ideas so maybe someone in this forum can help):
    java.rmi.ServerException: RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is: java.rmi.RemoteException: nested exception is: javax.ejb.EJBException: Unable to connect to database. No suitable driver; nested exception is: javax.ejb.EJBException: Unable to connect to database. No suitable driver ...
    I'm using MS SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC, my classpath setting is:
    CLASSPATH=D:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\jre\lib\ext\mysql-connector-j-2.0.14;D:\MS-JDBC-Driver\lib\msbase.jar;D:\MS-JDBC-Driver\lib\mssqlserver.jar;D:\MS-JDBC-Driver\lib\msutil.jar;E:\Installers\Java Related\jdbc dirvers\JSQLConnect3_27\JSQLConnect.jar
    I have the same J2EE_CLASSPATH setting in my userconfig.bat file.
    I've loaded this driver class in deploytool:
    com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    and my connection url is:
    jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;databasename=test
    What's weird is that I've also tested these settings with a simple Java Application and they worked fine, but when I try to use the same for the j2ee server from sun, I always get the annoying "no suitable driver" error.
    If anyone has ever come up with a solution that works, please help. You may post you reply here or better yet, email me at [email protected]
    Thanks a lot in advance !

    Hi,
    The error "no suitable driver" occurs when something goes wrong with the connection URL.so make sure that u are using the correct URL format (check if any of the info is case sensitive etc) or atleast try other URL alternatives (for MS jdbc driver).
    try these changes only through deployment tool->tools->server configuration->datasources->standard.(instead of editing resource.properties directly).
    last not the least - make sure that there is NO "rem" keyword before "set J2EE_CLASSPATH" in the userconfig.bat file :)

  • Updating Sun LDAP Server through custom create group forms

    Hi,
    we have requirement whererin we must create a create group form (custom form) and then update the new group details to the Sun LDAP server. After defining the LDAP Resource, how do I proceed in creating the resource object and configuring the same with the 'create group form ' for updating the necessary attributes in LDAP server.

    There is no way to perfrom LDAP authentication using our product without a mapped group. I haven't used it in a while but the Sun LDAP mamagement tools were very straight forward, creating users/groups issn't much trouble
    First creat the users and groups wherever in the direcotry, then in the group properties you must make the users members of the groups. Map the groups into BO and your done.
    If you wanted someone to setup both your LDAP directory and Business Objects typically a 3rd party professional service may be used. For configuring BO you can open a case with the authentication team in support if stuck. You could get some tips as most of our engineers have set up sun a few times for internal testing.

  • Linked Servers - Sql server 2005 to connect to Oracle 11g using ldap.ora instead of tnsnames.ora

    We have a SQL Server 2005 64bit box that needs a linked server created to Oracle 11g 64bit box. I have all the Oracle client software installed and can successfully connect to the Oracle database using SQL+ on the SQL Server 2005 64bit box. When I create

    I can't find any articles for this specific issues. All Oracle examples tell you to use TNSNAMES. The Oracle server is not under my companies control so I can not force the vendor to use tnsnames instead of OLAP.

    Have you got a resolution?

  • Query ODSEE from windows SQL server

    Hello,
    I have a windows server running SQL EXPRESS 2012 and I need to retrieve some data from an external server that uses LDAP.
    Normally I'm able to query this server using LDP.exe and it shows the version as:
    vendorname: Oracle Corporation;
    vendorversion: Sun-Directory-Server/11.1.1.5.0;
    I have found some examples on how to connect the SQL instance to a Microsoft Active Directory Server and make queries in a SQL-like way, and I was wondering if there is any connector that will allow me to do the same with an ODSEE LDAP server.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    Yes, as I said, I have no problems in launching queries from ldp.exe, but I want to automatize it using a SQL query from SQL server.
    SQL Express 2012 has a built-in controller for Active Directory that can be configured somehow to run queries to a LDAP server. Has anyone configured something like this?
    Thanks

    I'd recommend that you not use the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver to connect to SQL Server. M$ and jTDS are two free type IV JDBC drivers that you should use instead. Put those JARs in the WEB-INF/lib directory.
    The database URL you're using is not correct if you change drivers. Consult the docs to find out what the proper syntax is.
