Sun studio 12 express

I have question about sun studio 12 express. We now have project group that we can create multiple free project and group them together.
I checkin all the proejct in the CVS but can't find the project group file.
What I mean is if I checkout projects from cvs I can open it project group on another workstation.
My use case.
1. hello1, hello2 and hello3 projects.
2. I create project group Level_0 which includes all three projects.
3. check in cvs
4. chekout cvs module on another workstation
5. I loose the Level_0 project group
why???
How can I store project group in cvs so I can checkout and open all the project at once. In reality I have 50 projects with various levels with dependecies.
I really need this project group. It's like workspace in PC world. :-)

This information is not project specific, but IDE specific, so it is stored only in your userdir and can not be shared.
Sorry,
Vladimir

    Hello!
    I googled "SSServiceTagSupport.java:257" and found out that it is filed as IZ 154094 against Netbeans:
    http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=154094
    Actually it was reported many times:
    http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=151921
    It suggests a few workarounds.
    Workaround 1:
    "Simple workaround is to disable registration using command line option -J-Dnb.registration.enabled=false"
    Workaround 2:
    "The file ~/.netbeans-registration/6.5/registration.xml is empty, so I have this file erased and restarted the IDE.
    After this step, the file was not regenerated, but the IDe starts now without this problem."
    Please, try one of them.
    Thanks,
    Nik

    Thanks.

    Possibly the actual CC (or cc) command lines are not correct. The proper way to say not to link libCstd is the command-line option -library=no%Cstd. Then you don't need to add the default system libraries like -lc to the command line.
    Can you show the actual CC command lines that are generated by the makefile? They should be in the compilation log. I'd also like to see the command line(s) used to create dynamic libraries, if any, and the final executable.

  • Sun Studio Express Feb 2007, lingering dialog box upon Debug

    When I try to debug a project (say the Freeway sample application) in Sun Studio Express Feb 2007 on Solaris x86, Ultra 20, the following dialog box lingers. I am able to close it manually and debug normally however:
    Loading library
    /usr/lib/liblayout.so.1

    Yes, I've also seen this a number of times. I don't remember what was the problem exactly (dbx <-> IDE miscommunication?), but I believe it's gone now. Please wait for stable release , it should be available soon.

  • Difference between Sun Studio 12u1 and Sun Studio Express...

    Hi,
    on my open solaris:
    SunOS opensolaris 5.11 snv_111b i86pc i386 i86pc
    I've installed Sun Studio Express to get the C/C++ compilers. What is the difference with the Sun Studio 12 suite (which is about 200 MB larger than the Express one)? Also I saw there are patches for Sun Studio 12 (last one Jul 20 2009) that might have a fix for a problem I just reported. How can I install such patches?
    Patch: http://sunsolve.sun.co.jp/search/document.do?assetkey=1-21-126498-14-1
    Cheers, Fons.

    Studio Express is a pre-release or beta release. Some features may be missing or not functional. It cannot be patched. It can be replaced by a later release.
    Sun Studio 12 update 1 is an actual, supported release, later than the most recent (as of this date) Studio Express. If you install SS12u1 from packages (using the installer GUI for example), you can download and install patches for it as they become available. (Installations from a tar file cannot be patched; they can be replaced.)

  • Sun Studio Express - February 2008 download link points to internal site

    The download link at http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/downloads/ssx/readme.html, part 4 points to a Sun internal
    site (http://dscpreview.sfbay/sunstudio/downloads/express.jsp).
    Can this be fixed ?

    Not exactly the same topic, but it is not currently possible to download the express edition of Sun Studio due to an error that occurs when submitting an email address. The error given (from http://subscriptions.sun.com/util/sunmail.jsp) is:
    Error  :  Requested action failed for the email address [email protected]
    SunMailThread : nullAttempting to use the "Send Comments" link is also met with failure. After I fill out all the information, it sends me to a page with just the first and last name fields highlighted, as if to tell me they need to be filled in (yet - they are), but there is no form to submit on this page. Hence, I am stuck.
    So, I come here in hopes that both these problems get fixed sometime!

    I have no idea what could be causing this. I can find one link to it on this forum: http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9488983 . But the only answer to that query says it is the same as another bug which appears entirely different, not to mention being very old (while talking about an imminent fix), and being related to a different OS and (I think) a different version of sun studio (express vs. normal?).
    Any ideas? Could it be related to having gcc/g++ on the machine?

  • Recommendation for new features in next Sun Studio releases

    Hello,
    I have started using the Sun Studio Express recently and as a feedback to your opening to receive proposals to new features in the next releases of the Sun Studio collection I would want to point some aspects of interest to the programmers in writing good software for embedded systems and not only.
    First of all, with regards to the subject of great interest to me in this moment, multicore/multiprocessor parallel programming, I would appreciate the following :
    - if the compiler would be extended with new directives to allow the programmer to measure the load of each core and/or processor that is available to him.
    - if the compiler would be extended with directives to allow the programmer to get the core ID on which a specific section of code is executed. As en example consider o multithreaded application and in the associated function for each thread read the core ID and function of this value perform specific actions.
    - if the compiler would be extended with directives to allow the programmer to get the ID of the processor in the system - supposing a specific system has many multicore processors. (I don't know if this is possible).
    - if the compiler would be extended with directives to allow the programmer to specify the core and/or processor on which it wants to be executed a specific process,thread,function,(maybe instruction).
    With these macros I think a lot of things can be exercised, one that I think in this moment is the posibility for the programmer to implement his own algorithm of load balancing for the cores and processors of his system.
    Another point I would recommend would be that the watch window in the Sun Studio IDE to permit the selection of the format in which the data to be displayed.As an example if I have a U32 variable to be able to select in the watch window the integer ,hexadecimal or binary format in which I would want to be displayed.
    Another useful thins that I sought at other IDEs would be a popup window or something similar to select how to see the source code: as a .c file , as an assembler code , or as a mixture of C and assemble.
    That's all for the moment, if I see something else I would post another message.
    Thank you,
    Steve.

    These are OS functions, not compiler's. Solaris has a wide selection of ways and tools to assign processes and threads to cpus; processor_bind(2) is a function you can call and pbind(1M) is a tool you can use on a running app. There are more, just google for it.

    Good point. I'll check if there already is an RFE (Request For Enhancement) filed and file one if it's not. Thanks for letting us know!

    But there is disassembly window already. See screenshot here: http://developers.sun.ru/images/stories/sunstudio/images/sun_studio_dbx.png

  • How to change Makefile file name in sun studio for linux 11?

    Greetings,
    For historical reasons, our makefiles are called Make.bld
    Sun Studio refuses to accept these as makefiles.
    It'd be a big pain to modify our entire build system to take makefile as the name.
    Is there a way to instruct sun studio to accept a different filename for makefiles ?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    There is no supported way of getting the Sun Studio IDE (or NetBeans) to recognize
    Make.bld as a Makefile. However, the solution Nik pointed out with a .nbattrs file will
    work.
    Here is a complete file which, if copied to each directory containing a Make.bld file
    will work. However, if the directory already contains a .nbattrs file you should edit
    the existing one and add the <fileobject>...</fileobject> lines rather than overwriting
    the entire file.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE attributes PUBLIC "-//NetBeans//DTD DefaultAttributes 1.0//EN"
    " http://www.netbeans.org/dtds/attributes-1_0.dtd">
    <attributes version="1.0">
    <fileobject name="Make.bld">
    <attr name="MAKEFILE_TYPE" stringvalue="foo"/>
    </fileobject>
    </attributes>
    Note: I split the DOCTYPE line myself. It should be a single line in the file (although
    its probably OK if split, I didn't verify that so I'll suggest a single line).
    I should warn you that the next release of the Sun Studio IDE will no longer use
    .nbattrs files and you'll need a different solution. A preliminary version of the next
    release is currently available by downloading Sun Studio Express 3. The IDE is
    significantly better than the current one! You also get a lot of the same features
    by downloading NetBeans 5.5 with the C/C++ Development Pack.

  • Sun studio in fedora 10

    in my machine
    $ uname -a
    Linux roddur 2.6.27.15-170.2.24.fc10.i686 #1 SMP Wed Feb 11 23:58:12 EST 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
    i am trying to install sunstudio12 package installer, but it fails. in graphical mode, it claims that it is writing a log which actually dose not exist. in batch installer, it fails to detect netbeans, though it should download it(hopefully) if it is not there.
    so what should i do? though the tarball package is working fine but its just my preference to have the package installer. one more thing. in the graphic mode it says that the all the files have 0 Byte....what it means? though the total file size downloaded is same as that maitained.
    plz help

    Fedora 10 is an unsupported platform, which may or may not be the reason for all those installer errors you see.
    Which version of Sun Studio are you trying to install? Anyway, the latest Sun Studio Express (http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/downloads/express/index.jsp) may work on this (still unsupported) platform, but Sun Studio 12 probably won't.
    For all I know, batch installer (or graphical one, for that matter) does not download anything; you have to manually run system preparation tool and this tool will unpack and install missing components (such as supported version of Java, for example).
    Also, worth mentioning that if you have NetBeans already, it can't be used by Sun Studio; it will install it's own private version of NetBeans.

  • Problems with sun studio 12 in suse linux 11

    Hi.
    I installed Sun Studio 12 suse linux with no problems. However, the debugging modules (DBX) are not working any more. When I started Sun Studio, it gave a message about modules that could not be loaded in tha moment. I did not pay attention. But I noticed that all debugging options were disabled.
    Using the module manager, I saw the DBX module was not checked, and I could not change it. I was marked with a red X. So I thought to reinstall the application. However, the uninstall utility doesn't work either.
    According with the documentation, running ./uninstaller does it, but I get the following error message instead
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: uninstall_Sun_Studio_12/class
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: uninstall_Sun_Studio_12.class
    at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200)

    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:251)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:319)
    I tried to uninstall manually, and then execute installer, by using first the software manager in linux and deleting the producregistry file manually. It worked because I executed the installer. However, in Sun Studio IDE, debugging options are still not available despite I "reinstalled" the application. I checked the log files and they say the file uninstall_Sun_Studio_12.class could not be written.
    So my questions are:
    1. Is there any other way to repair Sun Studio? What could be the possible for this module to stop working?
    2. Does anyone have an idea of why the installer cannot write the uninstaller class?
    I found that perhaps problems regarding Java / Netbeans versions could be the problem, but the ones I have installed are those packages that were installed along with Sun Studio, and both are valid.
    Thank you very much.

    Perhaps you can simply delete the Sun Studio 12 installation tree, because it will not work on SUSE Linux 11.
    This OS is not supported, so any problems you see with SS12 on SUSE 11 will not be fixed.
    But we have a newer version, that should work better.
    You can try to download and install Sun Studio Express 2008/11 (extract pre-installed image from tar.bz2 file).
    Here is a pointer to the web page:
    http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/downloads/express
    All you need is to provide a email address, and press "Download Now" button.
    You will see a page, that gives you 2 options to download Sun Studio Express 2008/11.
    Use "Option 2": Download Tarfile Installer
    Thanks,
    Nik

  • Heade files in sun studio 12

    Hello,
    I have Sun Studio Express - February 2007 Early Access Release.
    I intend to use it only in "C" projects.
    I had tried to create a "C" project successfully.
    When I generate a "C" header , named for example list.h, it is created thus:
    #ifndef listH
    #define     listH
    #ifdef     __cplusplus
    extern "C" {
    #endif
    #ifdef     __cplusplus
    #endif
    #endif     /* listH */
    I want to get rid of the "#ifdef     __cplusplus" so next time I will
    create a "C" header file it will not be created. How do I achieve this ?
    Regards,
    Ian

    Hi,
    This is not the time which bothers me.
    This is simply reduant since I am NOT working in c++, and I wish to get rid
    of this lines.
    The question is: how can I get rid of this lines in the template ?
    or is this somehow hard coded ?
    Regards,
    Ian

    I'm a new user in Solaris and SUSE Linux. I like programming and have been looking for development enviroments like Sun Studio for both OS's. Sun Studio 12 is available for both and it comes with Netbeans 5.5. Is it possible to install the latest version of Netbeans without losing performance, or its capability to develop projects in C, C++ and fortran?
    Thank you very much.

    Hello
    Please try latest Sun Studio Express which is based on NB 6.5.
    You can find it on download page.
