Super class methods not shown when Model is generated

I have some EJB's that return a result class, that extend a common class.
eg:
public class Result extends AResult implements Serializable {
method getMethodA();
method getMethodB();
public abstract class AResult implements Serializable{
method getMethodC();
This EJB has been exposed using a web services and I am trying to construct a model based on this WS.
The in the moded, while doing the context mapping i cannot see the
getMethodC()
from the superclass.
However the code for the model seems to be correct i.e. the proxy classes generated have the correct structure.
Anyone encountered this before? Is this a bug?
Thanks,
Manik.

thanku very much for the answer.
I am trying to execute the methods of another class using reflection. So I have to consider the inherited methods also. For that, I have to differentiate between standard classes & user-defined classes.Assume that u have one GUI screen where in once u select a class all its methods including inherited methods have to be displayed.
I can get the the superclass using the method getSuperClass(). But inorder to get the protected methods of superclass what is the method to be used ? If I use getMethods(), it returns only public methods, where as getDeclaredMethods() returns all the methods. Since I have to execute only public & protected methods, what is the best way to solve this ?

  • Overiding super class method to an abstract  method

    public class Super
    public void doSomethingUseful()
    public abstract class Sub extends Super
    public abstract void doSomethingUseful();
    What is the OO principle behind this?
    When do we need to override a super class method in subclass as an abstract?

    Lets first look at a simple design pattern called "Template Method".
    public abstract class Library
    private void collectBooks()
    // collect books here
    private void putBookInShelf()
    // put books in shelf here
    // abstract method sortBooks()
    public abstract void sortBooks();
    public void processBooks()
    collectBooks();
    sortBooks();
    putBooksInShelf();
    this class is an abstract class giving an abstract method called "sortBooks()", what is it useful for? We can make a subclass and implement sortBooks() to sort the books as we want (title wise, author wise, date wise, publisher wise) and then simply call processBooks() to process them.
    One Sub class may look like:
    public class MyLibrary extends Library
    public void sortBooks()
    // sort books by title b/c I like them sorted out by title
    Another sub-class may look like
    public class HisLibrary extends Library
    public void sortBooks()
    // sort books by Author, b/c he likes his books sorted out by author
    Now client will say:
    public static void main(String str[])
    MyLibrary mylib=new MyLibrary();
    mylib.processBooks(); // books will be processed by sorting them title wise
    HisLibrary hislib=new HisLibrary();
    hislib.processBooks(); // books will be processed by sorting them author wise
    So in Library class, method "sortBooks()" was a template method allowing subclasses to sort the books as they want while all other functionality was implemented by Library class itself.
    Now if we go back to your example, a method which is concrete in super class that you converted into an abstract method in sub class ( doSomethingUseful() ) is now a template method, which alows the sub classes of this subclass to do something useful what they think is useful or in other words you are allowing subclasses of this subclass to implement this template method as they want by using their own algorithm.
    Now why whould you do that? answer is that you don't have access to the code of super class, otherwise you must have made this method abstract in super class in the first place.
    Note that the code may not compile, I tried to come up with an exmple and did not pay attention to compiler demands.
    I think I cleared my point, It was tough to explain though.
    Good Luck.
    Khawar.

  • Can we chagne Super class method parameters in Sub class

    Hi,
    I created a super class.  In that class i created a method. That method is having 4 input parameters and 4 export parameters.
    I created a sub class for that super class. I need to use only 2 input parameters in this class rather than 4 parameters. I want to delete 2 Input parameters in the sub class of the super class method.  Is it possible.
    If possible. can we give an simple code or pseudo code?
    regards,
    krishna

    Hi,
    I think you can not.
    Because, only public attributes can be inherited and they will remain public in the subclass.

  • How to pass importing parameter of super class method to subclass method?

    hi all,
    i have defined  a class
    CLASS CUST_REPORT DEFINITION.
      PUBLIC SECTION.
        METHODS:DATA_RETRIVE IMPORTING  CUSTID_LOW  TYPE ZCUSTOMER-ZCUSTID
                                       CUSTID_HIGH TYPE ZCUSTOMER-ZCUSTID.
        DATA:IT_CUST TYPE TABLE OF ZCUSTOMER,
             WA_CUST TYPE ZCUSTOMER.
    ENDCLASS.                    "cust_report DEFINITION
    The method DATA_RETRIVE   in this class  has two importing parameters named CUSTID_LOW   and CUSTID_HIGH.
    then i have defined subclas of this clas.
    LASS CUST_ORD DEFINITION INHERITING FROM CUST_REPORT.
      PUBLIC SECTION.
        DATA:IT_ORD TYPE TABLE OF ZORDER.
        METHODS:DATA_RETRIVE  REDEFINITION,

    ENDCLASS.                    "cust_ord DEFINITION
    Method DATA_RETRIVE   is redefined.
    So how to pass importing parameteres of super class method to sub class method with the same name.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi,
    I tried like this.
    METHOD DATA_RETRIVE.
    CALL METHOD SUPER->DATA_RETRIVE
          EXPORTING
            CUSTID_LOW  = I_CUSTLOW
            CUSTID_HIGH = I_CUSTHIGH.
    ENDMETHOD.
    But  parameters I_CUSTLOW and I_CUSTHIGH are not getting values after call to method.

  • Calling the super class method from the subclass

    Hi all,
    I have a question about inheritence and redefinition of methods. Is it possible to call the superclass implementation of a method which is redefined in the subclass in another method of the subclass?There are possbilities like creation of an explicit super class instance or delegating the super class method implementation to another method which is also protected etc. What i mean is, is there a direct way of calling it?We have ,me,   as the reference for the instance we have(which is the subclass instance in this case), is there also a way of pointing the superclass implementation(with super we can reference in the subclass redefinition, my question is if we have such a parameter in other methods of the subclass too)
    Thanks in advance
    Sukru

    Hi,
    The super reference can only be used in redefined methods to call superclass implementation . So probably what you can do is use upcasting and access the required superclass implementation. I can think of only this way...;-)
    Ex data lr_super type ref to cl_superclass
    lr_super = lr_subclass.
    lr_super->method().

  • Is it possible to OVERLOAD a super-class method in a sub-class?

    Hi all,
    I have a query that
    Is it possible to OVERLOAD a super-class method in a sub-class?
    If it is possible, please give me an example.
    Thanks,
    Hari

    Hi,
    Is the method int Display(int a){} overloading
    the super-class's void Display() method? If
    possible, please clarify this and how it would be
    method overloading?
    hanks,
    Hari
    Hi Hari,
    Yes, it is possible. Look at this piece of code:
    class Senior
         void Display()
              System.out.println("Super class method");
    class Junior extends Senior
         int Display(int a)
              System.out.println("Subclass method: "+a);
              return(a+10);
         }> }
    class example
         public static void main(String args[])
              Junior j = new Junior();
              j.Display();
    System.out.println("Subclass method
    od "+j.Display(5));
    Is this what you were asking? Hope this helped.Hi,
    I guess you guys are confused here...
    Overloading is achieved by methods in the same class...
    Overriding is across a superclass subclass methds.

  • ActionPerformed method not working when applet is loaded in browser window.

    Hey there guys. I need urgent help from anybody who has experience in deploying websites whose code is in java.
    I am having two problems as mentioned below...
    first, I have made a simple login screen using java swing and JApplet. there is a single button to login. the action performed for this button accesses a private method to check the username and password which are there in atext file. the applet is working perfectly in appletviewer but when i load the applet in a Internet Explorer window using HTML's Applet tag, the button is giving no response at all even when i enter the correct username and password.
    I guess it is either not calling the private function that is checking the username and password from the tes=xt file or it can not access the file. Please help as soon as possible as this is related to my college project.
    I am attaching the code herewith. Suggestions to improve the coding are also welcome.
    the second problem is that while writing my second program for generating a form which registers a user the html is not at all loading the applet into the browser and also if im trying to access a file to write all the details into the console is showing numerous amount of error after i press the button which i can't not understand. the only thing i can understand is that it is related to file access permissions. If anybody could put some light on the working of worker threads and thread safe activities of SwingUtilities.invokeandWait method it would be really appreciable.

    Hey Andrew, first of all sorry for that shout, it was un-intentional as i am new to posting topics on forums and didn't new that this kind of writing is meant as shouting. Cool.
    Secondly thank you for taking interest in my concern.No worries.
    Thirdly, as i mentioned before, I am reading i file for checking of username and password. the file is named as "userpass.txt" and is saved in the directory named "@data" which is kept in the same directory in which my class file resides.OK - server-side. That makes some sense, and makes things easier. The problem with your current code is that the applet will be looking for that directory on the end user's local file system. Of course the file does not exist there, so the applet will fail unless the the end user is using the same machine as the server is coming from.
    To get access to a resource on the server - the place the applet lives - requires an URL. In applets, URLs are relatively easy to form. It might be something along the lines of
    URL urlToPswrd = new URL(getCodeBase(), "@data/userpass.txt");
    InputStream is = urlToPswrd.openStream();
    DataInputStream din = new DataInputStream(is);
    So the problem is that it is reading the file and showing the specific output dialog box when i run it through appletviewer.. Huhh. What version of the SDK are you using? More recent applet viewers should report security exceptions if the File exists.
    ..but the same is not happening when i launch the applet in my browser window using the code as written belowHave you discovered how to open the Java Console in the browser yet? It is important.
    Also the answer to your second question
    Also, the entire approach to storing/restoring the password is potentially wrong. For instance, where is it supposed to be stored, on the server, or on the client?is that, as of now it is just my college project so all the data files and the username and password wiles will be stored on my laptop only i.e. on the client only. no server involved.OK, but understand that an applet ultimately does not make much sense unless deployed through a server. And the entire server/client distinction becomes very important, since that code would be searching for a non-existent file on the computer of the end user.

  • Wizard not shown in model after update to SP5

    Hi,
    I updated the CE to SP5. I have a VC model with a wizard control and when I open it now I get an internal error with the following message:
    ERROR: Failed to instantiate core.lyt:Layout aspect for null ('Class' is null or not an object)
    [W] Failed to repaint Wizard1
    I can see the roadmap but content of the wizard steps are not shown anymore. Everything worked fine with SP4. Anybody else with the same problem?

    Hi Guy,
    thanks for the info about the patched SPS5. Is it already available because there is no information in the SWDC about a patched version. In other words, how can I be sure that I really download the right version.

  • Purchase Order History SES not shown when not accepted

    We are working on 2 systems : one is ECC 6.0 and the other is 4.6.
    When i create a SES via ML81N and the SES is not released yet : on the 4.6 version, the SES is shown in the purchase order history, while in the ECC 6.0 version, the SES is not shown in the purchase order history. In ECC 6.0, the SES is shown inthe purchase order history tab after the SES has been accepted.
    Is this a setting in customizing or a difference in the 2 versions of SAP?

    Hi,
    no, it might be a coding error or an inconsistency issue.
    Please check the note
    442091 - Service entry sheet missing in purchase order hist
    In order to repair already existing inconsistencies, you can use report
    RMESSRK2 (from Note 141870 or as of Release 4.6C in development class
    ML_TOOLS). However, the report must be modified in the two positions
    specified in the attachment.
    If you can not find the report RMESSRK2 in transaction SE38

  • Javah problem - super class could not be found !!

    Hi all,
    i have already posted this message but i didn't get enough help to solve my poor situation.
    and this is my problem:
    i got in my project (myProject) MyClass class.
    i wrote in another java class ,in OtherClass.class ,jni function that use MyClass object as parameter to the jni interface, as follow:
    private native int myFunction (MyClass obj); //function in OtherClass
    when i write the javah command line :
    javah -jni OtherClass (in order to create OtherClass.h)
    i always get the following error:
    A required super class myPackage.MyClass could not be found.
    my qoustion is how can i let the javah command line to know about the existence of myPackage.MyClass and how can i create and .h file when i using other class instance as jni function parameter in other class??
    Thanks Sendy.

    Lets define a few terms here.
    Java can be a java virtual machine which is what runs when you type 'java' on the command line. It is also represented by the compiler which runs when you type 'javac'. And in your case it also is represented by 'javah'.
    The class path defines where java finds classes that it needs.
    In older versions of java you had to tell it where to find everything. It couldn't even find java.lang.String unless you told it were it was. Now days you have to tell it where to find stuff that you add (or where 3rd party libraries are.)
    There are two ways to define the class path: a command line option and an environment variable.
    A class path can, currently, have three types of things in it:
    -A path to a zip file
    -A path to a jar file
    -A path
    For example
    -Path to zip file in windows: C:\mystuff\mylib\mystuff.zip
    -Path to zip file in unix: /opt/system/projects/mystuff/mystuff.zip
    -Path to jar file in windows: C:\mystuff\mylib\myjar.jar
    -Path to jar file in unix: /opt/system/projects/mystuff/myjar.jar
    -Path in windows: C:\mystuff\mylib
    -Path in unix: /opt/system/projects/mystuff
    Zip files aren't used as much anymore, but you should at least be aware of them.
    Java uses the class path to look for classes which are stored in files. It does this by translating the class name into a file name. It uses packages as directory names and class names as file names. So in your case it would try to find a class called myPackage.MyClass in a file called myPackage\MyClass.class. It would try to find that in any zip files, jar files, in in any paths that you specified in the class path.
    So java is trying to find myPackage\MyClass.class in your class path. It would try to find that in any zip files, jar files, in in any paths that you specified in the class path.
    Right now your class path is probably just "." which means that if you do the following commands
    cd C:\mystuff
    javah -jni OtherClass
    Then java is going to try to find myPackage.MyClass in the following file
    .\myPackage\MyClass.class
    That, because you 'cd' to C:\mystuff, translates to the following absolute path
    C:\mystuff\myPackage\MyClass.class
    So if java doesn't find that file then it is going to tell you that it can't find the file.
    So where is your file? Let's say it is here.
    C:\work\lib\myPackage\MyClass.class
    So you must tell javah where the root is. Keep in mind that 'myPackage' must be part of the path. That is not optional. The root is the directory above 'myPackage'. So the root is
    C:\work\lib
    So now you have a path that is ready for your class path. So your javah command could look like this
    javah -classpath ".;C:\work\lib" -jni OtherClass
    Or using an environment variable
    set CLASSPATH=.;C:\work\lib
    javah -jni OtherClass
    Keep in mind in the above that class path is a generic term and there can be other ways to define it. For example the Sun command "java" allows you to use "-classpath" or "-cp".
    So does the above help?

  • Super class methods

    How to get the methods of current class and its super class using reflection. The retrieved methods should be only the methods of user-defined classes but not methods of Java APIs such as Object or any other class provided in JDK.
    For ex, If Class B is inheriting Class A, i need the methods which are declared only in A & B but not from the Object Class. Similarly, If class C is extending any JDK API such as Thread, I need only the methods declared in class C.

    thanku very much for the answer.

  • Overriding super class methods @ OIM 9x

    Hi All,
    I'm working on a requirement where I need to override superclass method in sub class.The problem is, method defined in sub class is not getting called by OIM.
    My question more looks like Pure Java related,but as it is OIM which uses Struts, calling of ActionForward methods defined in
    protected Map getKeyMethodMap()
    +{+
    +}+
    Super class is OUT OF BOX class and sub class is I m developing.Both superclass & subclass having the protected Map getKeyMethodMap() method with same declaration.
    Can any one give me a clue on this.

  • Method not found when displaying report in viewer CR Basic for VS 2008

    I searched and couldn't find anything regarding this.  When I try to display a report in the CrystalReportViewer, I get the following error message:
    method not found: 'Void CrystalDecisions.Shared.PageRender.set_ExceptionWindowTitle(System.String)'
    If I call PrintToPrinter for the report, it prints exactly as expected with no errors.  The report viewer control is on a separate generic form (since I have many different reports) and the report is passed to that form after it has been generated.
    I can't find any information regarding this error either on these support forums, or anywhere else on the internet.  I've tried installing the latest service pack and also removing and re-adding teh crystal reports references to my project without any change.
    Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Ok, I tried a completely fresh install of Visual Studio 2008 on a brand new Windows XP machine, same result.  I tried to do this on another developer's machine (who also has Visual Studio 2008 Professional), which resulted in this error when trying to load the ReportViewer (sorry for the long text).  It mentions something about redirecting to version 12 of crystal reports in the error message, which is strange because my project references 10.5, and I don't have crystal reports 12, which as I understand is the full retail version of Crystal reports 2008.  Any ideas?
