Supermatch THZ8571SKTKW colors out of wack
Hello,
My original supermatch monitor THZ8571SKTKW (build april 1995) attached to a G3-BW works fine for many years now.
I just laid my hands on another supermatch monitor 21" (same model, build march 1994). This monitor image outlines are fine but colors are off. What is supposed to be red is blue. What is supposed to be blue is yellowish. I also get some red colored images, which leads me to believe the monitor color beam is ok.
I plugged the monitor into a friend's PC. Same result.
Changed an old PowerMac 9500/150 videocard over to my G3. No luck, videocard not recognized.
Hard/software: Blue/WhiteG3, OS10.2.8, original videocard ATI Rage 128. On the outside both monitors have 13W3 female
connectors. Under the hood everything appears identical.
Since both monitors are multisync I wonder if the color problem on the one monitor would be repairable at all. Is it dumpster time yet?
Any suggestions towards a solution are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

G3 b/w Mac OS X (10.2.x)
The monitor interface has only 5 real signals:
Red (analog intensity)
Green (analog intensity)
Blue (analog intensity)
H-Sync [start/end of one row of dots]
V-Sync [start/end of one screen]
Each of those has its own return/ground that goes with it, with the two syncs often sharing a return, and each of the colors often "wrapped" in their return in a mini-coax arrangement.
Older Macs typically use a 15-pin two-row connector DB-15. pins 4, 7, and 10 are inputs read by the Mac at startup to determine the type of display attached. Often when a display show no picture, or can't sync up, it is because the adapter to the display's connector (very often 15-pin VGA three-row) omits the pins needed or does not provide the correct combinations of power, ground, and wiring-together with diodes.
I see the adapter as the easiest place to swap wires. It is also the most intuitive when you revisit this problem three years from now. It can usually be opened and allow a few wires to be swapped. The cable ends are usually "potted" -- filled with epoxy or plastic to keep them quiet and trouble-free. They are very difficult to modify because you need to dig the wires out of the plastic first.
In this case, you should consider getting one that is already wired correctly -- that may be easier than swapping coax wiring inside the adapter.

Aspect ratio out of wack on TV

The Same with caption when switching from dif scenes in BattleStar Galictica it would be a 2 setence caption on the bottom of the screen but it would only display 1 setence.
The Tv we have been watching these on has been a 42inch HDTV widescreen. Now on this TV ive tryed every possible dif display combo and ive also tryed all 3 dif video options on the ipod itself with no luck.

Widescreen should be optional, but if your using HDTV you may prefer to set for Widescreen.

So many of my playlists are out of order on my phone. Its so annoying. I listent to a lot of mixed CD's. They are all organized in order and play fine on my computer but are all out of wack on my phone. Anyone know what the deal is?
Match on the iphone is so confusing. Really frustrating. Apple makes things so confusing. Dont even get me started on Lion. hahaSounds like you have corrupt program files or something. You may have to manually go thru, figure out whats missing and add it again. What I would recommend doing first is scanning the whole system with your aqntivirus AND scanning with a malware (Ad ware and spyware) Program like Ewido http://www.ewido.com
After that uninstall iTUnes AND quicktime from control panel>add and remove. Doing this will not make you loose any music. Then disable your antivirus and download/install the latest verion of iTUnes from apple.com
If your harddrive crashed, where did you get all your music back from? A backup or off your ipod? -
Order out of wack for sub pages
I am using the following query the the order of the sub pages is out of wack if they were created at a
different time what am I doing wrong.... since I want to organize all the pages all along with the
subpages below them:
select DISPLAY_NAME, ID, PARENT_ID
from WWSBR_ALL_FOLDERS f
where f.caid = 40 AND
f.parent_id <> 0 AND
f.type_id = 1 AND
f.display_in_parent_folder <> 0
order by f.id, f.sub_folder_sequence;^ This is a matter of opinion and usage...
Jennifer, first of all, it sounds like you may have turned on the pref to only have text wrap affect objects underneath. IMHO, that's bad because as a general rule you always want text as the topmost layer so that any transparency effects (eg drop shadows) you apply to graphics tinker with the text as little as possible during flattening/printing. Once you've unchecked that pref, it won't matter if the graphic is underneath or not.
(And if you need a text box not to wrap around a graphic, select the text box and check the "Ignore Wrap" attribute in the attributes panel.)
Additionally, I think Sandee would chime in and say that you really shouldn't be using text boxes on master pages at all if you can avoid it. Set up your margins to the exact size you want the text box to flow into and just place text to the margins instead. -
Color Picker Goes Wack...
When I was doing a vertical gradient on horizontal menu buttons, the little circle in the color picker field/box that is supposed to travel around (while dragging here 'n there) went wack...wouldn't follow the cursor and kept snapping to the other gradient color (an orange) in the color box. Eye dropper in the box eventually worked, but the box has some kind of code problem. Hope you guys don't release another software pkg. as bad as the deplorable, clunky Fireworks. Muse has the potential to be a game changer in web design...but at beta 7, it's rife with bugs and still far from Gold Master status. Better recruit some of the PS CS6 crew...that software is masterfully executed. V1 release will never happen in "early 2012"...regrettably.
MP,
It seems that the issue is caused by a corrupt folder called en_US or similar (depending on language) within the Adobe Illustrator 18 Settings folder, see post #7 by Jules in this thread,
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1595766
so the solution should be to move or rename that folder (or the whole Adobe Illustrator 18 Settings folder).
You can find the folder in Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed.
The folder can also be found through this:
https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
As a temporary roundabout way, you can select the lower rectangle to the right of the rainbow and DoubleClick to apply that to change the top rectangle and the values: the lower colour is the right one. -
Different Colors Out of Reader and Professional
I am printing out the same file to a Canon iR 4580i from Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Standard and am getting different colors. I am using the same Driver with the same settings from each. I have replicated the same difference on totally different computers and networks and devices. This also happens on Windows versions.
It seems like output of Acrobat Pro is delivering RGB files to the print controller and the print controller is doing the RGB to CMYK conversion, however Acrobat Reader is delivering CMYK to the print controller and the print controller is not having to do a CMYK conversion.
I have played with some of the print driver settings with out any sucess.
The file has RGB images and pantone spot colors in it.
Any other suggestions to try? I have attached the file. Why is that a plus? Because of no HDCP?
As far as setup - it was a BREEZE. OS X detected "SAMSUNG DLP" and gave me a sensible list of resolutions. I had to uncheck "Overscan" on another tab so that the dock and Finder menu were not chopped off. Actually, turning off overscan results in a slightly letterboxed (1/2" all around on a 50") picture but I am not sure this isn't fixable with a 3rd party utility...
Either way, video quality is quite good at 720p using VGA. I can't wait to see it (hopefully) with DVI at 1:1. At least I'm hoping that what I'm getting is 1:1 pixel mapping

On Import, Lightroom Washes Color Out On Photos
I just got done reading a long thread where this was happening to someone else, but they were using RAW. To be upfront, I am current;y running Apple OSX Mavericks Beta and I'm not sure if this issue didn't start with the install of that a few months ago, but its fairly random.
Here is the story: I have batched out a folder of JPGs from Photoshop and would like to import them into Lightroom to Resize them (please ignore whether or not the workflow is something you agree with.) I'm resizing so that I can post them on my website.
I have double and triple checked to insure I have no "Develop" settings to be applied. I import the photos, and they look fine in thumbnails. Then they update one at a time with a washed out color to a bluish / b&w type color. I exported one of the photos to see if it was just a preview and sure enough the color is gone.
It doesn't happen on every import as I just resized a different folder of photos that I had downloaded from elsewhere a week ago and they worked fine. It's somewhat random. I am attaching links to before and after. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Original exported from Photoshop with no special settings:
http://homecutcreative.com/personal/lrdemo/original.JPG
Imported into Lightroom and Exported right back out with no changes:
http://homecutcreative.com/personal/lrdemo/LR-import-export.jpgFinally found the answer.
I'm updating my post with the fix for this issue that was posted above. I didn't find it at first because of all the know it alls who posted arrogant replies on what they KNEW was true but in fact it was something else.
It's sad when people are so smart that they can't imagine that a peice of software could be the problem. For me I believe upgrading to OSX Mavericks caused an issue with my develop settings. I am running Lightroom 4, and highlighting all the photos, right clicking and going to "Develop Settings" and clicking "Reset" Fixed the problem. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with camera settings and was completely an issue with Lightroom settings from an upgrade of my OS, or in the below responses case, an upgrade of Lightroom.
I have never before imported images with an autotune setting or preset of any kind. I always do my editing post-import. However, it appears that upon upgrading to a newer version of LR, my catalog preferences were reset to include a default setting I had never used before. Under "edit" and "preferences" then "presets" tab, under "default develop settings", the box was checked for "apply auto tone adjustments".
I unchecked the box and some of the images reverted back to the way they looked upon initial import (LR's interpretation of my camera's RAW data with no autotuning). However, for some images, I had to right-click on the image and select "develop settings" (in Library module) or "settings" (in Develop module) then click "reset." This set the images back to my RAW or JPG data as it was on import. -
Pulling color out of a gradient w eye dropper
Hello all - this is my first posting here, but I've spent quite a bit of time searching down my answer and haven't found anything.
I have an illustration that contains a lot of gradients. I am trying to simplify the illustration in order to make the file size smaller by removing all of my gradients and replacing the current shape with new shapes containing solid colors.
(I am trying this method because I have tried other methods that have not decreased thefile size enough, such as merging)
I have locked my layer and created a new layer above in order to use my pen tool to create the new shapes. The problem is when I use the eye dropper to get the part of the gradient I need for that shape, it fills the new shape with the gradient, not the solid color I am sampling.
Is there a way to do what I have described?
Thanks! It's not really as accurate as it might be but try holding down the shift key to sample the sereen value at that point.

Vertical spacing out of wack in IE, but perfect in Safari?
I have newbie question about vertical spacing in the frame
based design of the site I am working on. I did not design the
website but I was just asked to take over the basic updating and
maintenance of the content.
www.brainoptimization.com
When I view my site in IE or Safari for Windows it looks just
the way it is supposed to.
But when viewed in Internet Explorer for windows the vertical
spacing in the left column (as well as the spacing between the
first 5 paragraps in the right column) is completely out of whack!
IE for win puts huge chucks of space between the cells where none
was put. Any idea what is going on and how I can correct this
issue? I am using Dreamweaver 8 on a mac. Any help would be
appreciated. Thank you.
Cheers. Not sure how that page would look perfect in any browser
truthfully :-)
In Firefox there are huge pages in the left column. That
mosaic picture is
about halfway down the page. The styling of the paragraphs is
all over the
place because nearly every paragraph on the page has a new
style applied to
it. From the code I can see well over 100 'styles' ....
someone has really
overdone the use of creating new styles - or using the
property inspector to
create new styles for each paragaph. There are numerous empty
cells with
the table structure, many colspans etc., that make for a very
fragile page
indeed - hence the reason for it not working cross
browser/platform.
In all honesty, I would start over - it looks like a simple 2
column
structure and shouldn't be a problem with getting it to
display correctly in
*every* browser :) Sorry for the bad news.
One thing you can try first off at least (I haven't looked at
the code too
much after seeing all those styles)., place the mouse cursor
into the left
column and in the property inspector set the vertical
alignment to 'top'.,
maybe that will move the contents of that left column to the
top rather than
half way down the page... may or may not work - depending on
whether those
colspans get in the way.

Hi need to export Bank Statements into an Excel document, so I can edit and add information. I have downloading the Statement which is PDF format than exported to Excel. I than open the file and the margins are all out alignment. Need to amend and put everything in their correct margins. Is their a easier way of doing this?
If it's imported in to excel you nee to adjust the Columns and rows to fit, in excel. Once its imported It has nothing to do with acrobat.

The other day while just using my MBP as per usual, the colors just.. sorta changed. It wasn't like the "White on black" or "Black on white" or whatever setting is in Universal Access. Everything's in pastels, really; a lot of blues and yellows and purples. (My background is the standard OS X background, and it's purple, pink, gold, green, purple...) Things are also a bit noisy. On top of that, the colors are weird as it starts up (e.g., the Apple logo at startup has a weird, noisy outline), and are just as weird in Vista.
I'm guessing it's a GPU issue or something, but I'm a bit busy with college stuff, so I figured I'd see if there's anything else I could try before calling tech support. (It's still under warranty.)This happens to me about 50% of the time when I restart (and has only happened on restart so far). Zapping the PRAM always fixes it, but not very permanently.
I restart more often that I used to because of Bootcamp, so while not a huge deal, this is pretty annoying. I have not yet had it happen when restarting from Windows -> OSX, only from OSX -> Windows, or OSX -> OSX.
Taking a screenshot does not capture the problem, so I'm attaching the following picture taken with my digital camera. This is the standard startup screen, so it should be a bunch of pretty blues, not the hideous mess it actually is!

Color is now wacked after opening a RAW image
I just recently opned a RAW image and did some work on it and didn't notice any color issues. I later opened another file that I was working on earlier today (a website) and noticed my colors have changed. Bright orange is now a dull peach color etc. I've seen this before but I can't remember how to fix the problem. I have tried different color settings, sRGB, 1966, 1998 but nothing seems to work. Please help as I have a tight deadline on the site and there is no way I can hand this off to the coders.
I've attached a png file of what the colour is supposed to look like and a jpeg of what it looks like now.
Ok I just checked the attachments and the color looks correct on both. I know it's not the monitor as other programs like InDesgn display the color correctly. This is weird.dooooobie wrote:
Here is the file profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
That is not your monitor profile.
to calibrate your monitor you really need a hardware calibrator they cost anywhere from $100 to $200
You can use Apples eyeball calibrator in system prefs > monitors but LCDs really need to be calibrated with something like the X-rite EyeOne 2 -
Colors out of alignment over DVI
Hello forum,
I've connected my Mac mini 1.66 Core Duo to my Samsung HL-R5067W via DVI-to-HDMI. I do get an image, and I can correct the overscan using the Display preferences, but the image appears to be "out of convergence". Here's a photo:
http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?image=badcablerq7.jpg
I was pretty sure this was caused by a bad cable, so I replaced it to no avail. I've not seen this sort of artifact before and I can't seem to find any other discussions that cover this problem. I'd sure like to use my HDMI rather than falling back to VGA if possible.
Any clues?
Thanks,

Hello,
I was looking in the iPhoto Library package and under originals I have some directories labeled what the event is named, but most are just a date. Anyway to get those directories to match up with the event names?
Also if I go into recovery mode and tell it to find orphan photos, it labels ALL of my photos as orphans (doubles actually) and then messes up my database if I say no. Any suggestions about how to get this fixed without rebuilding my entire library again? Thanks!Standard Warning:
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
Anyway to get those directories to match up with the event names?
No. As of iPhoto 09 there is no longer a correlation between the Events in the iPhoto Window and the folders in the iPhoto Package File.
Also if I go into recovery mode and tell it to find orphan photos, it labels ALL of my photos as orphans (doubles actually) and then messes up my database if I say no.
How does it "mess up your database"?

Pictures are 90 degrees out of wack
I've posted some pics to our woodturners site and some of the pics are rotated 90 degrees. I've turned them in iPhoto to compensate and reposted them. No help. Any ideas on what the fix might be?
Thanks.
PeppersJohn:
You are using the latest version of iPhoto right? Those files are probably from a camera with auto-rotate capability. It writes a tag to tell other applications that can read that tag how to display it. I think iPhoto will use the original at times when interfacing with iWeb. What I've done is to drag the file from iPhoto to the desktop and then into a Safari window to see it if it's rotated physically. If Safari shows it OK then you're good to go. Currently iPhoto does physically rotate the file. But, as I mentioned, it may not always use the modified version when working with other applications.
