Support for iTunes folders?

Anyone know when Apple will support iTunes folders on an iPod?
It was a great feature addition with iTunes allowed me to organize my music in a folder structure so that, for example, I could put all Beatles music together. Unforunately, none of this carries over to the iPod, so you end with with lots of duplicate playlists that say "Greatest Hits". Yes, I suppose I could back through and change all my playlists under folders to say something like "Beatles - Greatest Hits", but that just defeats the purpose of the folder structure.
What good is having folders in iTunes if they don't carry over to your iPod? Anyone know when Apple is going to fix this?

I'm getting a DNLA error on the upper right hand corner of the SP3 screen.
Also my art work is there on iTunes but a lot is missing with the Media Hub.
I also think for a product to be called "The Media Hub" that the option to play your music should be robust.
As most people by this to run Itunes I'm surprised that the setup is not better.
The conflict with their shadow software and what it takes on from a "personal" folder is nuts.
Why do I want my word documents and gif and jpeg files in my documents folders mixed in with my Photos that I want to view.
Now the Media Hubbhas multiple folders and directors and content I don't want on it.
It also now has multiple instances of Itunes and it still doed nor get iTune "right"
I could have saved $350.00 by just placing a hard drive with a CAT5 cable to the back of my router,  What a mess!!!  Who has the time for this????

Why no support for iTunes running on Tiger?
    WE NEED THIS Apple!

iTunes is completely supported on Mac OS X 10.4. I used, and supported, iTunes on 10.4 for years. If it won't start on your system, something is corrupted. Let us know what version of iTunes you are trying to run and exactly what happens, including error messages if any, and someone can probably provide suggestions.  As it is, you're just asking people to guess.
    Regards.

does anyone have a phone number to actually call support for itunes store

You're probably right - however I only stumbled in here yesterday through Google, I'd not visited the site before and really only registered to say "me too" and look for an answer.
I've never been a huge Apple fan, but when I finally moved to an iPod from Creative and Sony players last year, I was quite impressed. So much so that I also upgraded to an iPhone this year. Never had previous experience of trouble with iTunes and believed Apple's hype about reliability - lesson learnt!
I've found no answers here or from Apple themselves so I probably won't be back - and the iPad and Macbook will come out of my wish list!

  • Has Apple Dropped Match Support for iTune 10?

Over the weekend, my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion and iTune 10 (sorry, I like iTune DJ too much to give it up) was showing all my non-local Match music as grayed out. I tried the usual trick of turning off Match, then turning it on again, but instead of fixing the problem, all the grayed-out songs disappeared completely. I also tried quitting and restarting iTunes, rebooting the Mac, holding the Shift key while turning off Match, deauthorizing and reauthorizing the Mac at the iTunes store, and signing out and signing back with my iTunes Apple ID. Throughout the whole process, the cloud icon next to Music has either been cycling or displaying a lightning bolt (can't connect to iCloud) icon.
I brought it in to work with me this morning, to see if its behavior would change on a different wifi network. Nothing has changed. Also, my Mac Pro (likewise running Mountain Lion and iTunes 10) now also displays the lightning bolt, and none of the music I've uploaded to Match appears to be in iCloud—even the music I just ripped from vinyl and uploaded last Friday. Deleting a song file from the iTunes Music folder and trying to play it on the Mac Pro prompts a message "The song "songtitle" could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
Clearly, as of this past weekend, Match is no longer working on either of my Macs. The files I uploaded last Friday do, however, appear as ready to play on my iPad. So it's obviously not a server problem.
Anybody know if this is a recent, unannounced development? Thanks for any info.

Thanks, Brett, but I tried all those troubleshooting options with no improvement. I discovered that my Mac Pro would upload songs to Match as expected, but not recognize their status in the cloud nor play them if a local song file was deleted from the computer. The only solution I could find was to download iTunes 12 and bid a fond farewell to iTunes DJ. It was either that or simply not renew my Match subscription when it comes due next month. No sense paying for a feature that Apple has discontinued support for in my preferred version of iTunes.

  • Is there Tech Support for ITunes?

Is there tech support somewhere for ITunes or are the discussion lists it?

Thank you! Actually someone already answered my questions. I thought ITunes was the place to go to buy music videos and audios for handheld devices, but I was wrong apparently! It's only for IPODS and for watching/listening on the PC.
I wanted music videos for my PDA (uses Windows Media Player) and music audios (MP3s?) for my phone, and I thought I could buy them here.
I didn't realize that ITunes was it's own little Apple prison where music videos and songs have to remain - and in a format that my devices won't play.
I don't want to sit and watch them on my PC -- I want to take them with me on my PDA and my phone.
I suppose I will have to make my own.

  • How can i talk to a body about support for Itunes account? Itunes is not recognizing my email address or password?

Can anyone help with my Itunes problem? Suddenly I can't sign in with my password, I have clicked on the link "forgot password" and followed the prompts.
It then gives me a window that says an email has been sent to me but I don't get any emails. I sent a note to support and they are sending a window back to me saying that they don't recognize my email address. Seems like I'm caught in a loop!

    Was it this support?

  • Windows 8 support for iTunes 11

I have seen a bit of concern around iTunes support under Windows 8.
I have updated everything ready to upgrade a Win7 Professional PC to Win8 Pro
I have updated iTunes to 11.0.2 64 bit.
My question is....does the current version of iTunes (i.e. 11.0.2 64 bit) support Windows 8?
I am not doing a clean install of Windows 8, it is not practical at all...upgrade is the only reasonable approach.
I need iTunes for iPad & iPhone so it needs to work under Windows 8 before I upgrade
So would be interested in knowing whether latest version of iTunes does really support Windows 8.
It is a absolute show stopper for upgrading to Windows 8!

Had the same issue on Windows 8.1(x64)  8(x64) 7(x64) and Vista(x86) with the latest iTunes. Removing and Reinstalling all Apple applications did not solve it. After installation and starting iTunes i would just get the end user agreement and then nothing but iTunes.exe process is running as background process without the GUI being displayed. I did notice that after an hour or 2 iTunes would then be open but would immediately freeze when connecting my iPad.
Changed the properties of running iTunes.exe as admin in Win7 compatibilty mode.
So launch iTunes and wait till it eventually opens, do not connect your iOS device right away, but sign in with your Apple ID first.
Open preferences (iTunes seemed to freeze again but preferences window popped up after a couple minutes)
    Unchecked the automatic sync.
After doing that I have been able to connect my iPad which I had already upgraded to iOS7 over the air. Which was risky as I do not have a MAC and iTunes is the only way to perform a restore if the upgrade would have failed.
But still 11.1 seems to be very unstable on Windows, I can imagine that Apple will focus on sorting the bugs in iOS7 for their own devices first but hope they will investigate the issue and come up with a solution later on, as I do think a substantial amount of iTunes for Windows users buy their Music through iTunes and it would not be wise of Apple to leave them in the dark.

  • TS1717 I foolishly downloaded the latest version of iTunes and now it won't run.  I get a message stating that MSVCR.dll is missing and an error message saying error 7 (Windows error 126).  Click on the support link for iPod + iTunes - no support for iTun

Why won't the latest version of iTunes run?  I've downloaded it twice.  Come to that, why isn't iTunes an option in the product list on this site?  Apple did make that, didn't they?

    Hey Jim Tracy!

  • Support for itunes plus file transfer / playback

The lastest Nokia Media Transfer application for the mac allows the transfer of itunes plus (.m4a extension) files, these are purchased itunes tracks without DRM. From what I understand apple have modified the tag data on these files which prevents them from being played on a Nokia phone, the Mac transfer application will process these files to modify this data and allow the tracks to be played.
My question is, will windows users get a similar application, to avoid the use of third party / manual operations, to allow these files to be transferred directly from itunes to my Nokia in the same manner as the mac application?
Its usually the mac being the un-supported OS but appears to be windows in this case !

yeah, Apple have their own way of working with aac/mp4 tags. They add extra bits that other players, unless programmed to read, won't understand, and at worst they won't play the file at all. There is another standard, the Nero standard, and they are similar but the Nero version is more universally recognised. There isn't an ID3v1/ID3v2 for MP4 files, yet. Although, like I said, since 90% of the world uses the Apple method of tagging, that is close enough to being a standard.
It's not that Nokia don't want you using iTunes, or like you said, they would force Mac users to use a Nokia music program. I think it is just that the whole "PC Suite" philosophy is geared around the Windows Media Player way of doing and tagging things. And since WMP doesn't recognise m4a files, neither does the Nokias. To get around this, instead of fixing their mp4 codecs to recognise Apple formatting, they made a transfer program that swaps the tags to a Nokia-understandable format. Which is just silly.
I've tried the Suite Music Manager, I have. Honest opinion - use Windows Media player instead. BUT I don't want to use that either, I have a huge collection ripped/catalogued in iTunes, and I shouldn't have to go about fiddling with tags and swapping software/workflows just so my phone can play it. I don't need to with MP3 so why should I need to with AAC/MP4? It would only take a few lines of code in the phone's AAC codec for it to read these tags, surely thats easier than making transfer programs and Music Managers?
The arguement "Nokia want you buying from the Nokia store rather than iTMS" doesn't hold water either, because I'm never buying from either, as long as I can still buy CDs from the shop.
Like I said, this whole thing may be fixed with the new N95-8 etc. If its not, and Nokia have no intention of fixing it, then my next phone will be an iPhone. I don't WANT an iPhone, but this whole thing is a deal-breaker for me.

  • Second user account cannot load music to iTunes. I've confirmed permission for Itunes folders on ALL accounts and this still does not work!  Any other suggestions?

I'm opened every iTunes Media folder found on this Mac to Everyone for R&W access and still get this message of 'you don't have write access for you iTunes Media folder......'  This is extremely frustrating!

  • Why no support for Smart Folders on the iPod Touch?

  • Apple TV 2nd Gen - Support for iTunes Genius???

    Greetings,
Does anybody know if the new Apple TV supports the Genius capability of iTunes?
Use Case: Sit on couch with cold beer, fire up the Apple TV, nav and pick a song, hit "Genius" and chill.
    Thanks

    ssstraub wrote:
You can do just that. Highlight any song and hold the select button > Start Genius.
This will let you start Genius, but it behaves differently now. It used to be than when I started Genius from a song, the selected song was part of the playlist and I wouldn't have to do anything special to play it.
Now, when I start Genius it gives me a list of songs based on the one I picked, but it doesn't include the one I started from. I also have to manually start playing one of those songs, or select "Shuffle" to actually start playing the playlist.
I'm so used to just starting Genius and walking away. The way it's implemented with the ATV2 is quite annoying to me.

  • Extended Characterset support for Files/Folders

Does anyone have any ideas on how to implement say Japanese folder names in iFS?
It doesn't seem to work natively - even with db configured to UTF-8.
I've even tried from Japanese Windows (where you can store folders locally with japanese characters in filename).
    Thanks

  • How many playlists will iPhone support for iTunes? I seem to have hit a limit.

I seemed to be capped at 35 playlists in my iTunes on my iPhone. Is this the limit - does anyone know? Thanks.

I don't think so. The iPhone will support more than hundred of playlists. Don't know the exact number.
