  • Crystal Report 2011 does not display when keyfigures are zero

I am using Crystal report 2011 with BEX Queries as Data Source. I am not able to see some of the characteristics values when keyfigures are zero or null. In BEX query there is a costCenter Characterstic, few costcenter characteristics values are zero for some months but BEX Query is designed to show as spaces even if the keyfigures are zero for those costcenters. When I am using the same Bex Query with Crystal report 2011 all the costcenters with keyfigures as zero are not showing up on the report. Can anybody suggest how I can show the characterstics values even if all the keyfigures are zero. (I have not selected any kind of suppression in section expert in crystal report), (In Bex Query CostCenter- Properties-Advanced----Access Type for Result values are set to Master Data)

    Hi,
Have you made sure the correct Transport files have been loaded on the SAP system? Since you're using CR 2011, you need to make sure the Transports that come with this version of CR are present on the SAP system.
Could you see if the workaround mentioned in SAP Note: 1391673 works for you?
Here's a snippet of the SAP Note:
SAP Development team of BW BEX MDX Interface suggest the following implementation:
Since Crystal Reports is not correctly interpreting the character used to represent NULL values (by default the value: X) please use the Customizing transaction: RSCUSTV4 to change the sent value.
Please note, this is a Global setting, and will also modify the behaviour in BEx application.
WORKAROUND: Create a formula field based on the selection that always returns a number - converting null to 0.
Create a formula in BEx for the KF.
    Edit the Selection
Edit the formula to behave like:
    COUNT ('KF') * 'KF' + 0
    ('RKF' + 0) * 1
Not generally acceptable since it requires duplicating fields.
Also, business may not accept 0,00 for a NULL result.
    Hope this helps!

  • Suppress embedded field blank lines in Crystal Reports XI is not working

    Hi,
We have a text box in a Crytal Reports XI report which has address information in it as follows:
These are individual fields from the database. We check the  "suppress embedded field blank lines" option for the text box and preview it in the designer and the suppression works as expected in that when the unit field is blank the whole address line isn't suppressed. However when we run this report using the Report Viewer control in a VB.NET 2005 application the whole address line is suppressed when the unit field is blank.
This appears to be a bug in the suppression logic when the Report Viewer is used to view a report. While yes we can embed a formula into the address line this adds extra maintenance and confusion which is not necessary as it works as expected in the report designer.
I have seen others which are having a similiar issue and the only suggestions are to create your own suppression using formulas, etc. which is only a bandaid and is not the best solution as the suppression works as stated in the designer but not in the viewer embedded in an application. Please indicate if this is a known bug and if this issue has been addressed and fixed in a new merge module.
We are running Crystal XI 11.5.0.313 for the report designer and have deployed the needed dlls to run the reports with our application using the CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm merge module.
Thanks in advance for any assistance in resolving this issue!

  • How to suppress a blank section in crystal report

how to suppress a blank section in crystal report. although i have set the property
"suppress blank section "=true ,still i m unable to suppress my section
please help me to cope up this issue.
    thanks in advance

One recommendation I make, when troubleshooting suppression issues, is to put a visible border of the section, area or object to be suppressed, and borders for all objects contained in the section or area.  This will help isolate what's suppressed, and whether the section is truly blank or has content that's blank.
Furthermore, I recommend indicating which SDK and what version you're using when posting.

  • Crystal report 2011 - Suppress formula?

I'm not new to Crystal reports 2011, but I am new to this forum. Excuse me if my question is already answered in another discussion thread, but I've searched the forum, but could not find an answer easily.
In my report I need to total the amount per day per security. If one of the totals per day have a negative amount, my report should show all dates for that security.
To make it more clear to you I've put in two examples
    Example 1:
From date      PfGrp        Por         Security      ISIN          Custody     Amount
    15-1-2015      aaa           por_a      Sec01        123456      Cust01      5000
    15-1-2015      aaa           por_b      Sec01        123456      Cust02      -6000
    16-1-2015      aaa           por_a      Sec01        123456      Cust01       5000
    16-1-2015      aaa           por_b      Sec01        123456      Cust02       1000
    17-1-2015      aaa           por_a      Sec01        123456      Cust01       2000
    17-1-2015      aaa           por_b      Sec01        123456      Cust02       1000
    Expected output:
From date      PfGrp        Por         Security      ISIN          Custody     Amount
    15-1-2015      aaa                          Sec01        123456                         -1000
    16-1-2015      aaa                          Sec01        123456                          6000
    17-1-2015      aaa                          Sec01        123456                          3000
Output expected because the total amount on 15-1-2015 is negative. Because of this negative total amount the other dates have to be shown as well.(although they are positive)
    Example 2:
From date      PfGrp        Por         Security      ISIN          Custody     Amount
    15-1-2015      aaa           por_a      Sec01        123456      Cust01       5000
    15-1-2015      aaa           por_b      Sec01        123456      Cust02       6000
    16-1-2015      aaa           por_a      Sec01        123456      Cust01       5000
    16-1-2015      aaa           por_b      Sec01        123456      Cust02       1000
    17-1-2015      aaa           por_a      Sec01        123456      Cust01       2000
    17-1-2015      aaa           por_b      Sec01        123456      Cust02      -1000
No output expected because all the totals per day are positive.
    Regards, Peter.

    Hi Peter,
    Try this please:
    1) Save the existing report with a new name. You should now have two copies of the same report - let's call them A and B.
    2) Open Report A.
    3) Insert a Group on the Security Field first and then on the Date field. Set the Date Field to 'Print for Each Day'.
    4) Create a formula (@Groups) with this code and place this on Group Header #2:
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    stringvar groups;
    If Sum ({Amount}, {Date}) < 0 then
        If Instr(groups,{Security}) = 0 then
            groups := groups + {Security} + ",";
    groups;
    5) Suppress all sections of this report except the Report Footer.
    6) Go ahead and Insert a Subreport. In the Insert Subreport dialog box, browse to the Report B and place it on the Report Footer.
    7) Edit the Subreport so that it has the same groups as the Main Report (or Report A)
    8) Right-click the Subreport > Change Subreport Links > Move the @Groups formula to the Pane on the right > Uncheck the option 'Select data in Subreport based on Field' > Click OK.
    9) Get inside the Subreport > Click the Report Option > Selection Formulas > Record and use this code:
    Not({Security} IN Split({?Pm-@Groups},","))
IF you have some existing selection formula in there, then you would need to add this condition with an AND clause.
    Hope this helps.
The reason we have to add a Subreport is because you're trying to suppress a higher group based on a summary that appears on a lower group.
If you're reporting off of tables, you should be able to use a SQL Expression Field to display the summary for Group #2 and use this summary to suppress the higher section based on another logic!

  • Condition suppression in crystal reports

I need help in conditional suppression of data in a crystal report I have created. It is hard to explain so I will show you with example data that has no reference to real data.
Here is an example of non suppressed data in two columns.
    Column A     Column B
    ****               a1
    ****               a2
    ****               a3
    ####             a2
    !!!!                 a1
    %%%%        a5
I need to be able to conditionally suppress the above example to show all records in Column B where the value in column A is the same and one row of Column be has the entry of a1. The data should look like the following after the conditional suppression.
    Column A     Column B
    ****               a1
    ****               a2
    ****               a3
    !!!!                 a1
If you compare the two examples you should be able to follow what I am after. You can see that the following entries in column A, **** and !!!! also have the entry a1 in column B. For this reason I want them returned. I also want all other values returned where this is seen. You can see that the second example of data has three records in Column B where the entry in Column A is the same and it has a1 in column B at least once.
I hope you can understand this, it was very hard to explain. Let me know if I can offer any further information.

There is a way to do this, but it's going to be a bit tricky.  Assuming that both columns come from the same table, which I'll call "MyTable", here's what you'll need to do:
    1.  Add a second copy of "MyTable" to the report.  Crystal will warn you that the table is already in the report and ask if you want to "alias" it, at which point it will be added to the report as "MyTable_1".
    2.  Link FROM MyTable TO MyTable_1 on ColumnA (as well as any other required fields if necessary).
    3.  In the Select Expert, add the following to the selection criteria:
    {MyTable.ColumnA} = "a1"
    4.  In the report, use the ColumnA and ColumnB fields from MyTable_1.

  • Suppressing NuLL values in Crystal Report

    Hi....
I m facing a problem,i use asp.net and  I have designed a Crystal Report.I had to place Text Objects in the the details section along with the corresponding Records from Database as per the Reports Design needed. Now i want that the NULL values in the report should be suppressed and should be disappeared  along with the static Text Objects. Like as it happens in Grid view in ASP .net
Please Help me to solve this issue..
    Thank you

I think i have been able to do it with little compliated suppress logic.
When i design the report this is how it looks in design mode:
    Line1  Field1
    Line2  Field2
    Line3  Field3
and when Field 2 is null or contains a blank string the output should look like:
    Line1  Field1
    Line3  Field3
    1. Initially just design the text fields and db fields without any suppress.
    2. Check Suppress for Line 2 and use the formula: isnull({Table.Field2}) . Do nothing to Field2. This should suppress Line2 when Field2 is null, you can also add StrCmp({Table.Field2}, "") = 0 for checking blank strings.
    3. Now copy Object Line3 and Field3 and place on top of Line2 and Field2 respectively so that their positions match. Let these newly copied objects be Line3_1 and Field3_1 respectively.
    4. Line3_1 and Field3_1 should be suppressed if Field2 contains a non null value. So for both of them Click Suppress checkbox and add the following in the format formula editor not isnull({Table.Field2})
    5. If Line3_1 and Field3_1 are visible = Field2 is null\empty -> Line3 and Field3 should be suppressed or the output would be like:
    Line1 Field1
    Line3 Field3
    Line3 Field3
    So to remove the duplicate:
For both of them Click Suppress checkbox and add the following in the format formula editor isnull({Table.Field2})
Hope this helps. I will see if I can attach a sample report based on xtreme here.

  • How to suppress zero values in EVDRE Report?

    Hello.
In my EVDRE Report I need zero values to be suppressed.

  • Suppress Export Option Using Crystal Reports Web Report Viewer (viewrpt.cwr

We have an existing Crystal Report that is being displayed using the Crystal Enterprise Web Viewer (viewrpt.cwr) in a call like this: http://<servername>:8080/CrystalReports/viewrpt.cwr?id=<an id value>etc.
When the report is displayed, the toolbar has an export icon that allows the user to export the report to PDF, Excel, etc.
I want to suppress the export feature, but retain the print feature.  I have read the documentation that I could find on the web for this viewer and have been unable to find a way to do this.
Does anyone know how this could be done or a different way to display the report with a different viewer that would avoid having to redesign the report itself?

CMC is Central Management Console. Logon to CMC
    http://server:8080/businessobjects/enterprise115/admin/en/admin.cwr
Now select the report from the folder and click on the tab Rights and click on the advanced option for the user and here Under the report you have an option "Export the report data" check the deny option for this and apply. Now this option will apply for that particular user only, if you want to apply for all the users under one group then click on advanced for that group and change the option.

  • Crystal report - Suppressing particular Group by

    HI,
I have a particular crystal report in which we have multiple group by. Different options are given to the user to select the group by while executing the report. If the user selects a group by 1, and 5 then the report should be grouped by only the 1 and 5 and grouping should not be done on the basis of 2,3 and 4.
I have inserted multiple group by in the report. I am suppressing the groups 2,3 and 4 when only 1 and 5 are selected. The groups are not visible but they still impact the result and the data shown is grouped at all the levels.
Can anyone please let me know the solution for the same.
    Regards,
    Simran

    hi Simran,
you need to create a set of formulae to group on and not use suppression on hard coded groups. for example, create a formula such as
    if {?groupone} = 'Country' then {my country field} else
if {?groupone} = 'First Name' then {my first name field} else
you need to create one formula for every group level as well as a parameter for every group. for example groupfour
    if {?groupfour} = 'Country' then {my country field} else
if {?groupfour} = 'First Name' then {my first name field} else
    if {?groupfour} = 'No Group' then ''
you can suppress the group header and footer for Group 4 when {?groupfour} = ''
please see the attached report as an example. change the .txt extension to .rpt after you extract the contents.
    cheers,
    jamie

  • Crystal Reports 8.5 Multi-Selection Formulas

Let me start by saying that I am fairly new to Crystal Reports design, so I appreciate your patience as I try to describe my issue to you.
I am using Crystal Reports 8.5 with an Oracle database.  The database contains a field that I refer to as a multi-selection field, meaning that end-users have the ability to select zero, one, or all values available to them in that field.
I am designing a Crystal Report which has a checkbox for each of the selection values within the multi-selection field. So, if the end-user selects three of the values in that field, then three checkboxes appear checked, while all the others checkboxes remain empty.  I have no problem getting the checkboxes to appear; that's not the issue.
I have tried using direct table linking and views, subreports, formulas and running totals in a number of different combinations,
to no avail. The results have been mixed; most of the time, only one of the values gets a checked box, while all the other checkboxes are blank. Other times (with some of the subreports) it returns a full set of checkboxes with only one box checked, for each selection value that is chosen in the record.
My basic formula for the field looks like the following, and the formula is repeated for each checkbox (country).
    if {TW_V_COUNTRY.S_VALUE} = "Japan" then chr(253) else chr(168)
The closest I've gotten to this report working correctly is when I link an alias of the view for each country.  If I have a view for two countries and select those two values in a record, both checkboxes appear checked.  However, if I add more views for additional countries and select those values within the record, only one checkbox appears checked.
Has anyone ever done something like this successfully? I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advance.

Okay, I know I've said this before, but this time it really works!
I saw something online about how crystal processes null fields - that if it reaches a null value, it will stop processing it altogether.  Here's what I saw online about null fields: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iadthelp/v7r0/index.jsp?topic=/com.businessobjects.integration.eclipse.designer.doc/designer/Crystal_Syntax47.html
I have successfully created a report that will display all of the appropriate checkboxes - blank or checked.  This method does NOT use custom views.
My report uses a separate subreport for each selection value in the multiselection field.  The subreports are located in the Group Footer of the main report.  Each subreport has PR.ID left outer linked to the VIEW.PR_ID.  Each subreport is grouped by PR.ID.  Each subreport contains a formula for the corresponding selection value:
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    global StringVar VarCH;
    If VarCH = "" then
    VarCH:= if IsNull({VIEW.S_VALUE}) then chr(168) else
    if {VIEW.S_VALUE} = "Swiss Confederation - CH" then chr(253)
    else chr(168);
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    global StringVar VarCH;
    VarCH
Each selection value has an abbreviation: AT, BE, BU, CH, CY, CZ, etc.  So, in the above formula, the only difference for each selection value is the name of the variable: VarAT, VarBE, VarBU, etc., and the actual selection value itself: Republic of Austria - AT, Swiss Confederation - CH, etc.  However, it may work with one universal variable throughout, like VarCountries.
The formula field is placed into the Group Footer within each subreport, formatted with Wingding font.  All other subreport sections are suppressed.  The subreport is placed next to its corresponding text object on the main report.  The subreports are linked to the main report: PR.ID --> VIEW.PR_ID.

  • Crystal Reports hides rows from source BW query

    Hi Experts,
I currently have a BW query with two structures: 1) key figure structure in the columns and 2) another characteristics structure in the rows.
    Here are additional details:
    1.  I have the MDX connectivity transports installed
    2.  I have successfully linked a crystal report to this source BW query.
My only problem is that if a certain row in the source BW report is blank (meaning it does not have any values), Crystal Reports automatically suppresses it and does not show my full row structure in the output.  I would like the report to show all rows regardless of any data values or lack of.  I do not have zero suppression in BW or Crystal Reports.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I would recommend to extract the MDX query out of your CR report ( Database->Show SQL statement) and use the MDX transaction to test it directly against your BW server. This way you make sure if the suppression takes place already on the BW side or in the CR itself.

  • Performance Issue Crystal Report and Oracle

    Hello,
We have one procedure that takes 3 input parameters and returns Cursor from Procedure that is used to design the report. There is no caluculation involved here and cursor is opended dynamically. We are using Oracle Native connection.
When we click on preview button it takes lots of time ( >10 Mins) to show complete data. While we call the same procedure in application and generate HTML report using Cursor returned it is done in < 15 Seconds. Can some point me where to look into to improve the performance of Crystal Report.
    DB: Oracle 10G
    CR: Version XI

    Hi Vadiraja
The performance of a report is related to:
    External factors:
    1. The amount of time the database server takes to process the SQL query.
( Crystal Reports send the SQL query to the database, the database process it, and returns the data set to Crystal Reports. )
    2. Network traffics.
    3. Local computer processor speed.
( When Crystal Reports receives the data set, it generates a temp file to further filter the data when necessary, as well as to group, sort, process formulas, ... )
    4. The number of record returned
( If a sql query returns a large number of records, it will take longer to format and display than if was returning a smaller data set.)
    Report design:
    1. Where is the Record Selection evaluated.
Ensure your Record Selection Formula can be translated in SQL, so the data can be filter down on the server, otherwise the filtering will be done in a temp file on the local machine which will be much slower.
They have many functions that cannot be translated in SQL because they may not have a standard SQL for it.
For example, control structure like IF THEN ELSE cannot be translated into SQL. It will always be evaluated in Crystal Reports. But if you use an IF THEN ELSE on a parameter, it will convert the result of the condition to SQL, but as soon as uses database fileds in the conditions it will not be translated in SQL.
    2. How many subreports the report contains and in section section they are located.
Minimise the number of subreports used, or avoid using subreports if possible because
subreports are reports within a report, and if you have a subreport in a details section, and the report returns 100 records, the subreport will be evaluated 100 times, so it will query the database 100 times. It is often the biggest factor why a report takes a long time to preview.
    3. How many records will be returned to the report.
Large number of records will slow down the preview of the reports.
Ensure you only returns the necessary data on the report, by creating a Record Selection Formula, or basing your report off a Stored Procedure, or a Command Object that only returns the desired data set.
    4. Do you use the special field "Page N of M", or "TotalPageCount"
When the special field "Page N of M" or "TotalPageCount" is used on a report, it will have to generate each page of the report before it displays the first page, therfore it will take more time to display the first page of the report.
If you want to improve the speed of a report, remove the special field "Page N of M" or "Total Page Count" or formula that uses the function "TotalPageCount". If those aren't use when you view a report it only format the page requested.
It won't format the whole report.
    5. Link tables on indexed fields whenever possible.
    6. Remove unused tables, unused formulas, unused running totals from the report.
    7. Suppress unnecessary sections.
    8. For summaries, use conditional formulas instead of running totals when possible.
    9. Whenever possible, limit records through selection, not suppression.
    10. Use SQL expressions to convert fields to be used in record selection instead of using formula functions.
For example, if you need to concatenate 2 fields together, instead of doing it in a formula, you can create a SQL Expression Field. It will concatenate the fields on the database server, instead of doing in Crystal Reports. SQL Expression Fields are added to the SELECT clause of the SQL Query send to the database.
    11. Using one command as the datasource can be faster if you returns only the desired data set.
It can be faster if the SQL query written only return the desired data.
    12. Perform grouping on server
This is only relevant if you only need to return the summary to your report but not the details. It will be faster as less data will be returned to the reports.
