Swf and links in dreamweaver

Can anyone help me figure out how to make my swf files (animated buttons created in flash cs4 / as3 ) work in my dreamweaver site (cs4) as links to go from one html page to another ?
Thanks in advance for anyones help,
[email protected]

I cannot open CS4 files, but in any case, you made things easier for me to go thru by actually creating buttons. Select the button and give it an instance name in the Properties panel, let's say you name it "btn"
In the actions layer, insert the following code...
// this is an event handler function for the event listener
function gotoPage(evt:MouseEvent):void {
     var url:String = "http://www.url.com/webpage.html";
     var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
     navigateToURL(req);
// this is an event listener assignment for the button
btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, gotoPage);
I showed the above function coded as I did so that you can see the individual pieces that make it up.  Those pieces could be combined into one line...
function gotoPage(evt:MouseEvent):void {
     navigateToURL(new URLRequest( "http://www.url.com/webpage.html"));
And if the html pages are in the same domain, you should be able to use relative references for them rather than absolute.

  • Swf files and email links in dreamweaver

    Good evening everyone,
    Need some help please
    I have a button (swf) made in Flash and brought into Dreamweaver to act as an email link when clicked.
    When testing, an extra browser window named "untitled" comes up behind the main email window which
    pops up fine. I can't figure out where the extra blank "untitled" window is coming from.
    swf was made in cs4 with as3 and imported into Dreamweaver cs4.
    The following is the code used for the swf file.
    var emailLink:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailto:[email protected]");
    email_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);
    function onClick(MouseEvent):void
    navigateToURL(emailLink);
    Thanks in advance,
    [email protected]

    The extra browser window will not appear when you run the file live on a server.  It is just one of the quirks with local Flash testing.

  • .SWF in illustrator and links

    okay -
    I can use attributes to url an object
    But when I export as .swf the link is not working... mouse changes but no clicking action occurs
    thanks
    bonus - -
    is there a way in illustrator to add hover over (mouse over) action in illustrator?
    thanks in advance

    Reinstall the program and trash the prefs.

  • Using Dreamweaver CC 2014. I add hotspots and links my images with no problem. But when it renders live, the links are just a little off.

    Am using the Hotspot tool to map images and link them. But when I test the email or webpage, the links are just slightly off. Thoughts?

    Don't really have it in a format that has a link. But here is the HTML: (and no, it's not in a table. Would that help?)

  • I applied a template to a page with SWFs and now that page does not play the SWFs. Why?

    I applied a template to a page with SWFs and now that page does not play the SWFs (just a blank area where the SWF should be). When I detach the template it will play the flash file. This site will eventually be updated via Adobe Contribute. And I just discovered that when applying a template to a page that uses HTML datasets (Master/Detail),it no longer reads the Master/detail regions and displays a blank. Any thoughts?
    [Moved to Dreamweaver forum by moderator]

    Firstly, you shouldn't really 'apply' a template to a page, you should create a child page by going to FILE>NEW>Page from Template.  Too many things can happen when applying a template the way you are doing it. eg:; editable and non-editable regions not matching up and being asked where to place these regions and in all likelihood, you end up with 2 or more of the same region.
    When a swf file is inserted into a page, a corresponding Scripts folder is written automatically is stored in the root of the site - it is also linked to in the head of the document. What I believe is happening is that when you apply a template to the page, the Template has no idea that there is a swf file on the page and is not aware of the correct link to the Scripts folder.  If you do a test and add the swf file to the template page itself, I bet that the links to the swf and the scripts folder are correct - because DW knows the correct path to the script file.   Hence the reason the page probably works when you detach it from a template.

  • Links in Dreamweaver

    Hi,
    I've just finished making a website for fun, which looks great thanks to Flash and Dreamweaver!
    Anyway, I was thinking of using it as a desktop background (Windows XP active desktop web page), and linking things like my folders and files to
    my tabs, be alot cooler than a boring background =).
    I've used DesktopX and similar shells which are great but they dont support swf.
    So, is it possible to link say My Computer to a button in Dreamweaver or Flash?
    Thanks!!!

    Handy, I agree.

    Beyond that....
    Please suggest the In 'n Out thing to the dev team -

    Meanwhile, you can get the same info by doing a site-wide

  • Flash .swf and .flv player

    I need to put a link, "view movie," on a website page. The movie is an .swf, and I'd like a Flash media viewer to open in a window (about 400x400px) when the link is clicked. I don't need the viewer to be a permanent part of the page -- I just want it to open in a pop-up window that can be closed when the person viewing is finished. I know I can just insert the .swf and it will open on link click in a separate window and autoplay (Dreamweaver CS4), but there are no start, stop or volume buttons on that window, and it doesn't look like I can insert them from the behaviors panel. I don't have Flash on my computer. I just need to be able to allow a movie to be played on my webite.
    Any suggestions for low-priced, but good extensions? If not needing an extension, any other good fixes?
    Tom

    What happens when you change it - does it work?
    If not, you may be better off to ask in the Flash or Dreamweaver forum, as this is not really a Flash Player question.

  • Integrating Flash swf or html with Dreamweaver

    I created a swf file to replace my current static background image (page properties) in dreamweaver (the files are the same dimensions). When I try to select it, the swf file is grayed out. So I deleted the background image and inserted the flash swf with a transparent bkgd. When I preview it in my browser (safari) it doesn't work. I like the position of the static file and would like the swf to stay in the same place to compensate for different user monitor sizes. Please Help!!!!
    The current/live site is http://www.sistercirclemedina.com you will see the static image (header_11_01.jpg). I added the revised homepage (index.html) to my site you can find that at http://www.481gddr.com/sistercircle/index.html  The script files required are in a script folder on the hosting server. I also inserted the swf into a completely new dreamweaver document and it does not work.
    If the swf file won't work...why? Should I try to use the js and input that into the dreamweaver code?
    Thank you so much for your assistance and time.

    Check, if all the paths in your projects are "relative" paths.
    If you drag&drop files or link in dreamweaver, DW will most likely use absolute paths.
    Then when you upload  your files, some of this paths won`t exist.
    I also inserted the swf into a completely new dreamweaver document and it does not work.
    You cant really "insert" a swf into a dreamweaver document.
    DW in this case does nothing else then telling the browser (via the <flash> tag where to find the swf. that has to go into a <div>

  • What is the difference between SWF and F4V in the context of Streaming or progressive Download?

    Hello everybody,
    I am absolutely a beginner in working with Captivate and furthermore my technological know how is not that good.
    So, I have problems to understand if the export formats SWF and F4V are both capable to be published in the Internet as streaming video and as progressive Download? Well so, I do not really understand the difference between streaming and progessive download either?
    Furthermore I was asking myself if this issue depends on how I imported flash videos (there are these two options) in my Captivate project during the production phase?
    I would be very thankful for some helping information!
    Greetings,
    Mareike the beginner

    Welcome to our community
    I'm not certain I fully understand the differences myself, but will toss out what I believe to be true about the formats. Hopefully, if I'm incorrect in my bellief, someone with more definitive knowledge will chime in.
    It was explained to me a couple of years back and is my understanding that "streaming" only applies to a video based format such as F4V, FLV and it doesn't apply to SWF. With SWF, you may specify a preload value. So when the SWF transmits from the web server to the PC, a certain percentage has to be received before play begins. But that's not streaming. It's preloading.
    For streaming to occur, the web server establishes a communication channel between the server and the destination PC. This channel is monitored to see what speed is in use. Only enough information is then transmitted to be comfortable at that speed. If the speed improves during the connection, the server serves data at a faster rate. If the connection degrades, the information transmitted is also scaled back so as to accommodate the lower speed.
    With SWF, after it has all been downloaded, a savvy user is able to poke around in their temporary internet files and save the SWF for play later. With streaming, this isn't possible because as the stream is viewed, it evaporates from memory.
    Seriously hoping others will chime in here to confirm or deny this.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Translation from CS5 to Cloud doesn't  work correct, navi and linked images are broken.

    Translation from CS5 to Cloud doesn't  work correct, <navi> and linked images are broken.
    The data of CS5 was created at another PC. I installed Cloud version into two different PC. One has had the site data since dreamweaver CS5 and it works correct in Cloud version. Another PC got the site data from remote server and it doesn't work correct. <navi> and linked image are broken.

    Another PC got the site data from remote server and it doesn't work correct. <navi> and linked image are broken.
    This implies your site is not properly defined in DW.  Go to Site > Manage Sites.
    Or simply go to your other installation of DW and export the site definition file from Manage Sites.
    Save it to a flash stick or other removable drive.  Then import the STE file into your 2nd installation of  DW.

  • Need to load multiple skins with only a single .swf and config.xml

    Hello
    These are part of some instructions that were of a AS3 Mp3 Store I purcased
    Well guys the new AS3 flash cart system can have skins hot swapped in and out with out having to recompile the actionscript code.
    You can even have multiple skins on the same cart and use different ones in different places of your website.
    This is all because the flash cart system itself runs seperate from the graphical user interface that the customer visits.
    When you purchase a new cart skin, or if you edit your own custom skin, you can place the swf file for it in the "skins" directory of your flash cart installation directory. Then in the config file where you "embed" the cart on your website you include the name of the skin you'd like to use (the skin MUST be available in your skins directory).
    The other plus to using the skin system is you can keep the cart application seperate from your site. No longer do you have to have all that ugly php code and cramped swf files floating along side your website html files. No instead you create an install directory then simply embed the cart from where ever it is. The only litigation is that the cart must exist on the same server as the website you are showing it publicly on.
    So right now I have a website with the store set up and working, allowing the buyer  to listen to the tracks, add to cart and checkout after which they are given an instant download link to the purcased files.
    What I want to do now though is break up the songs into differents carts/skins within a dropdown list in my website as quoted in the instructions above, according to genre.
    So I have published 4 different skins  as
    MusicSkin 1.fla
    MusicSkin 2.fla
    MusicSkin 3.fla
    MusicSkin 4.fla
    and have placed these on my server
    The cart works by Index.html > loads the Main.swf >loads MusicSkin.fla which is called by via config.xml
    (<?xml version="1.0"?>
    -<config><skin src="MusicSkin"/><db src="/" sandbox="false" type="sql"/></config>
    I am having trouble configuring how to call on 4 different Skins into different pages on my site if I only have ONE index.html, Main.swc and config.xml files which according to the instructions is possible!
    Hope this makes sense, I get how it works on one skin but not how it works/or to make it work with multple ones on a website.

    Is this possible...anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Really hoping to getting this working soon.
    I am wondering if i have to copy the instances of the different skins into the config file above and each swf and html file loads the corresponding on in the list, or does each instance require it's own config file, which would then be a problem I think, because I could not have 4 config.xml files in the same directory which is what the Action Script is calling on.

  • Use loadSWF load my stage3D game swf and show In AIR , This swf may crash when running

    Problem Description:
    use loadSWF load my stage3D game swf and show , This swf may crash when running
    Steps to Reproduce:
    run my Upload Project . Fill in the login box, any account and password . Because of network problems, you may need to wait a long time to show up login box
    Actual Result:
    this swf crash when running
    Expected Result:
    this swf do not crash when running
    Any Workarounds:
    Test Configuration
    My Hardware and Environment details:
    1.this url's swf load files in worker
    2.this url's swf use SDK is Flex 4.6.0(bulid23201)
    3.this url's swf is Flex Project
    Upload Project Url:
    http://fight.fuhuodao.com/fight/testUrl/!FightAirShell.zip

    The loading of SWFs from AIR has a different Security model than that of the WebPlayer.  There is a workaround to loading plugins in AIR: If you use a static plugin this should work for you.  To do this: Link in the plugin at compile time, and pass the PluginInfoResource to the loadPlugin() method.

  • LINK FOR DREAMWEAVER CS6 LATEST UPDATE

    I HAVE A CREATIVE CLOUD MEMBERSHIP AND I HAVE DREAMWEAVER CS6 INSTALLED ON MY LAPTOP...I RECENTLY CAME ACROSS ADOBE'S ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING DREAMWEAVER LATEST UPDATE SUPPORTING EDGE ANIMATE AND HTML5....
    I FOUND OUT ON ALL THE ADOBE SITES. BUT STILL I HAVEN'T GOT A LINK THROUGH WHICH I CAN PURSUE DOWNLOADING THE UPDATE. I HAVE ADOBE APPLICATION MANAGER TOO INSTALLED ON MY LAPTOP. BUT IT ONLY PROMPTS ME SOMETIMES ABOUT THE UPDATES OTHERWISE I COULDN'T GO TO THAT LINK...
    COULD YOU-ALL HELP ME OUT WITH THIS ISSUE ?

    Before you update you need to read this: http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/release-note/dw-release-notes-092412.html
    The update is a little weird, it drops some key features of Dreamweaver that are very useful like expanded tables mode for one thing, however if you don't use this go ahead and upgrade - there are instructions for what you do BEFORE you update on the page for the link above. It WILL wipe out any preferences that you have setup so you have to export those before updating to make sure that you can add them back once the update is finished.
    Upgrade instructions below - remember to read the document linked above first. Good luck if you decide to upgrade, I personally wouldn't until they fix all the new problems, but it sounds like you have a specific need in mind.
    Upgrade to Dreamweaver Creative Cloud
    This 12.1 upgrade includes fixes from the earlier Dreamweaver 12.0.1 patch release.
    Open Dreamweaver.
    Select Help > Updates.
    In the Adobe Application Manager, select the Dreamweaver update.
    Click Update.

    Hey guys,
    Anyone has any idea why this code suddenly don't work anymore? (It works under internet explorer but not firefox and chrome

    Hi kglad,
    The problem was coming from my server.
    I recently played with some settings  from a "cache control tool" offered by my hosting but i thought i had it back at default. Turns out i must've missed something. Now i have the .html caching on and everything works good on all browser.
    I have another question tho...
    I'd like to know if there's a way to cache an html file without having to ask my hoster to cache all of my htmls...
    I'm using this code now but maybe there's a way to add something that will cache this page specifically?
