Swf doesn't appear in Firefox

I have recently switched to Flash 8 and have run into a
problem in getting my swf files to appear in Firefox when they are
downloaded from the web server. They do appear in Firefox when I'm
doing the design work. They also appear when using IE. I can also
see other swf files from sites with Firefox. I only can't see the
swf files with Firefox that I have created with Flash 8. Any ideas
on what I'm doing wrong. As a side note, I was able to successfully
create swf file with Flash MX.

This is nonsense. The shadows worked perfectly fine in Firefox with sites produced in iWeb 06. It is the iWeb08 developers who broke it by reimplementing shadows in a way not supported by Firefox. It is THEM who should take the blame. They are costing me days of extra work.

I am a novice with Dreamweaver, but managed to create a site.
I placed a repeat background image by using Modify>Page

The image cannot be displayed because it contains errors. It
    doesn't load

  • I have updated my website. The updated version doesn't appear in Firefox Yahoo searches, but does when I use Internet Explorer. Shouldn't it update immediately? This problem has gone on for over 24 hours!

Using Firefox, I updated my website yesterday. When viewed using Yahoo in Firefox, the older, previous version of my website was displayed.
It is now over 24 hours since my update, but Yahoo in Firefox still displays the out of date website.
This does not happen when the website is viewed using Internet Explorer - Internet Explorer started to show the updated version immediately... Why hasn't Firefox?

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.

  • Can someone please tell me why my flex swf isnt appearing in firefox?

Like the title says, could someone possibly explain to me what im doing wrong with embedding this swf? **My code works fine in chrome**...But doesn't appear in FireFox, and it look compacted in IE, like its only set to a 5% height or something.
All I want to do is have the swf scale  to 80% width(then i use the margin:0 auto; to center it), then 75% height. Theres a header, small ad at the top, and a footer at the bottom. All while being compatable with Chrome, FF, IE.
Incase possibly this matters..in my Flex Project I set the swf height and width to 100%. I figured since it's being embeded inside the `.mainContainer` div, the swf would then assume its parent(mainContainer)'s width and height wich is set to width:80% and height:75%. **And it does it chrome just fine** but like i said above the swf doesn't appear in FF. I thought maybe i should note this incase it's necessary information to solve this bug.
I didn't think this would be too hard but I can't seem to get the swf to load in FF. I'm seeing the swf making connects to some netConnections and stuff like its there, i just cant see anything.
    -What am i doing wrong?
-Is there a better way I should be implementing the swf?
-How can i figure out whats wrong on my own in the future?
(im so used to working in Flash builder on flash projects, the debugging is so simple, informative, and easy to use. With only having access to "inspector" in chrome which never spits out any useful information I feel like im coding in the dark compared to using eclipse)
    **EDIT:**
1 more thing I should mention. Pretty much the entire "embed" code provided here was auto generated by Flash Builder. I created .mainContainer around the "embed" code and all the extra  divs around it... my header, footer, ect. Without any of my extra content, the swf appears just fine like you would expect it in firefox. SO my point in saying this is i do not think its **literally** the embed code. Because that embed code works in FF. It's just how im implemented my header, and div around this flash content that seems to break the code in FF for some reason.

Thanks to those of you who have responded. It is just frustrating because I absolutely love this phone. I just was shocked to see these ever changing colored vertical lines and sometimes just light grayish stripes throughout my screen. They come and go. Constantly changing, sometimes disappearing and then showing up again in a different app or simply when I pick up my phone after leaving it sit. The problem is where to start? I'm thinking straight to the nearest Apple Store on Monday morning.

  • Swf file doesn't appear

    hi
i'm a completely new with using flash and dreamweaver. so please sorry for this question.
i used a template from flash and converted it into a swf. after i integrated that swf file into
my dreamweaver template. now on my local browser it does work but as soon as i upload the
    file the swf doesn't appear.
the specific website would be http://www.shivaslounge.ch/pix.html
thank you so much for a help.
    patrick

    What Ned said.
    Rephrase:
"Upload to your server the Scripts folder which DW created for you when you inserted the Flash."
PS: upload the entire folder to your server, not just the .js files. The code which loads the Flash is looking for the .js files inside a folder named Scripts. Doesn't currently exist hence no Flash appears on your webpage.

  • How do I get firefox to save tabs when I quit the program? This doesn't appear to be available in 4.0

On previous firefox version, when I quit the program, a prompt would ask me if I wanted to save tabs. That doesn't appear to be happening with 4.0 upgrade. Can I still save and quit?

One change in Firefox 4 is to by default stop Firefox displaying the warning message, but it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''

I've just downloaded the add-on - Quick Locale Switcher but don't know how to access it because there doesn't appear to be a button for it on the Firefox toolbar?

With any extension, look at the add-on page for that item in Mozilla Add-ons: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/<br />
*Answers can usually be found there: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1333/<br />
*Also the developer's home page for the extension (the link is on the above page): http://www.captaincaveman.nl/firefox-extensions-quick-locale-switcher.aspx<br />
*Also see if there is a forum on the developer's home page (there is for this one): http://forum.captaincaveman.nl/default.aspx?g=topics&f=12

Here's an interesting bit: iTunes will let me restore my iPod touch from backup: it's still running iOS 4.3.3. I figured as much... there's backups showing in the Preferences -> Devices list for both devices (and even my old, long gone iPod touch 2G), but my iPhone (on iOS5) isn't giving me any such option. I remember I had to downgrade before to get the backup restored (something went haywire in the setup assistant, and I couldn't restore a backup from iTunes there)... If it was possible to go to iOS 5.0 rather than 5.0.1 I would just do the same thing again, but iOS 5.0.1 isn't an option. I attached a screenshot. Hopefully Apple can get this nonsense sorted out; I think iOS 5 might be the root of this, somehow.

  • XML Flash banner doesn't work in Firefox

    hey everyone,
I'm using a simple Flash based / XML banner that doesn't
appear to be working in Firefox. I know that I've uploaded the
correct files because it works in IE 6 and Safari for some reason.
It also appears to be working in Firefox when viewing it locally
and when viewing the demo online from where I got the code. I
didn't alter the code so I'm stumped as to why this is not working.
    Any insight to this?? Thanks!!
PS. I'm using Flash Player 9 for all browsers. Also, I've
tried changing the path of the image source, etc. but nothing
    appears to work.

Can you post a link to it.
My best guess is you don't have the <embed tag in your
HTML SWF object. That is typically the only reason I've seen a
flash not work in FF, while working in IE. IE doesn't need the
embed, but FF only uses it. Best bet to avoid any of these issues
is to use the standard method: SWFObject 2.1 to embed your SWFs.

  • Flash control doesn't load in Firefox if offscreen

We use a swf for a page counter that needs to run when the page loads, but in Firefox it doesn't run until the viewer scroll down to the swf.
Is this normal behavior? Is there anyway to force the swf to run at page load?

Did you upload the Flash movie (the SWF file)? Doesn't appear
    to be on
    your server.

  • Stop doesn't appear on the menu bar on Version 29.0.1. How do I install it?

Stop doesn't appear on the menu bar on Version 29.0.1 and I can't find the icon in the customize menu. It just seems to have disappeared. I would also like words under the menu icons. Also the reload icon can't be moved or customized.

  • SWF Doesn't Display

I'm redesigning a site with a SWF movie on the home page but the SWF doesn't display on the redesigned page. Original page displays fine. Same results on IE 7 & 8 and FF - that seems to rule out computer & browser errors. The only difference I see is new page is XHTML while the original is HTML - The code on the two pages is virtually identical except for that.
    Redesigned site is http://www.bath-hancock.com/index.html
Original site is http://www.countryconnectionsva.com/index.htm, on a different host.
Live HTTP Headers shows everthing is being downloaded properly except  http://www.bath-hancock.com/flash/CountryConnections.f4v and  http://www.bath-hancock.com/SkinUnderAallNoFullNoCaption.swf get 404 errors - these files don't appear on the original site and I don't know what they are as I can't find any reference to them in the code for the new site.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Thanks Murray,
Yes, I tried that but didn't know what to exect as I have never done that with a SWF before. I downloaded the
entire old site with DW, copied the files to the new directory, and then uploaded them with DW. I guess I'll repeat the process and see what happens.
Hmmm - I can play the one I initially downloaded in Flash but I get the following error when I try to play the copy:
    Error #2044: Unhandled skinError:. text=[IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2035: URL Not Found. URL: file:///Macintosh%20HD/Users/laurenceheine/Sites/Country%20Connections/SkinUnderAllNoFull NoCaption.swf"]
Checking what was downloaded, I found three more files: SkinUnderAllNoFullNoCaption.swf, CountryConnections.f4v, and CountryConnections.flv. Copied those to the /flash directory and now the SWF plays on my computer in Flash. Uploaded them to the server and it plays w/o the skin (still get that 404 error). Moved the skin to root and it plays fine. Wonder why it plays ok in /flash on my computer but not on the server?
Only issue left is the white background - can I change that somewhere? (I don't do Flash so have no clue.)
    Thanks again!
    Larry
