SWF export positioning in web page

Hi,
I have some questions about the SWF version of the Indesign Files.
I would like a bit more control on how it sits in a webpage if possible.
If I export as normal, the SWF file sits in the top left side of the page.
If I export and tick the box to include the pagecurl feature, it sits in the middle of the page.
Is it possible edit the setings to get the swf file to be centred on a page without the pagecurl option?
If I open the generated html file in Dreamweaver the page is basically blank.
Would the only option be to import the SWF file into a blank page and center it using tables?

Are you looking at the code? Unless something has changed with CS 5.5 you should see the javascript that loads the swf at the top of the page in the DW code view. Look at the bottom for the load parameters:

The page curl version doesn't really center the swf object, it just makes the width and height parameters larger than the page, which creates a top and left background border. If you want to center the swf inside the browser window you'll need to add a table or divs

Am looking at exporting the Form view on APEX to be exported to PDF.

In order to get a PDF, you need to generate a Report....in PDF format.
If you are using the APEX Listener, you can initiate the download of the PDF by calling APEX_UTILS.download_print_document() (I normally place this in a Process)
BUT -- You have to create the Report (under Shared Components) and a Template (also under Shared Components).
The white paper in my first post gives you the HOWTO "[Create] Custom PDF Reports with Oracle Application Express and the APEX Listener".
Start by creating a Report (in Shared Components, bottom right) that uses a simple SQL statement like:
Select * from emp where empno = :P15_EMPNO
You may need to hard code the parameter before you hit "Download XML" button.
The XML that you get from clicking "Download XML" satisfies the "Step 1 - Create an XML Data Source" found on Page 11 of the document.

When exporting files to web pages Aperture keeping losing files, so for instance, if I choose to export 600 images to a new web page, it might do 524 images but not the full 600. I've tried resetting Aperture, it's the latest version etc etc. Help please!

I have 3600 images which I need to upload as sublfolders, each with their own URL and at the moment Aperture is dropping of anything from 1 to 90 images.
This is critical as people need to see each and every on of these images online. So if a file has 600 photos in it, Aperture should make a URL with 600 full image pages. And this is what it's not doing. On small files, say 30 or so it seems to work well, it's when it gets to more than that the problem starts.
I've used Aperture in the past under previous versions and not had this problem.
Any help would be great.

Thanks for responding (as it seems as though no one else has been able to provide any insight as of yet)! Not sure if you saw my recent post, but the version of Aperture on the 2008 MacBook has been upgraded to 3.1.2 (not sure how; I bought it in 2009, but only have OS X 10.5.8... which apparently can't house 3.1.2 of Aperture, but hey, like many other anomalies i'm encountering, I'm no longer surprised!). I am unable to upgrade it any further, as it warns me that my OS X does not fit the requirements. I exported the projects as libraries; however, like I posted before, apparently these are from too old of a version for the new Aperture (3.3.1) to handle and import.
It's getting to the point where I'd almost pay to upgrade the OS X on my previous MacBook (10.5.8) to something newer in order to THEN update Aperture to a newer version; however, my previous MacBook simply cannot handle this (the specs are awful -- hence my decision to save up and upgrade to the newest MBP with Retina).
I've spent hours upon hours transferring files, libraries as projects, previews, versions, even masters (though, apparently some of them aren't accessible?) with no luck. I've rebuilt the library and reprocessed everything. And this is all after having to return one MBP already since Aperture 3.3.1 is glitch-y as it is, and froze everything for having a "managed library". So, now that I know that I have to deal with a referenced library in Aperture... I just need to actually transfer my previous library to my new one (hopefully WITH adjustments since these are years worth of photos and work).
Again, any help is appreciated. I've lost enough sleep, time, and vision health over this at this point.
Also, I know Migration Assistant is an option, I was told that it wouldn't work properly anyway because of the different operating systems, and the potential for problems.

How can I export to a web page with movies?

I just noticed that when I exported a folder of pictures and movies to a web page, only the pictures showed up. Is there a way I can use the export to web page feature and see my movies?

Are you using iWeb to create your web page? If so then the only options from within iPhoto for exporting are a photo page or blog page. You need to export only the photos and once in iWeb create a separate movie page and import that movie to that specific page via the Media button at the bottom.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. SWF not Playing in Web page

I have a swf embedded in a webpage that is not playing when accessed on the server or client machines. In the index.htm I have the following: When I go to the page in the browser I get no image or error message just nothing shown. What am I missing? Thanks Mark

I am receiving the error message 2148 on connection refresh. Here is where I am at now with the work flow:
1. Published a swf that is connected via xml maps to a folder called call center on my server.. When I open the swf from that local location on the server it works perfectly(open from file not thru http). Updates and functions on refresh.
2. Server is an application server running IIS. Using Front page to publish files to local intranet web pages. Import the swf to frontpage embed into index.html inside a flash movie player. Save, when viewed thru Internet explorer the error comes up 2148. Accessed from the server thru HTTP or on the network can see the dashboard and functions after you click OK to turn error off, but when you refresh the connection the error comes back.
3. Have global settings to the rootwww folder as always allow.
4. Have a crossdomain policy file in the root directory rootwww saved as crossdomain.xml:

Exporting albums to web pages

iPhoto had an option under export to 'export-to-web-page'. From what I can tell, that functionality has been removed in Photos. Does anyone know how to do that in photos or maybe have a recommended plug-in for the Share menu that would do it instead? I used that export-to-web-page to make our family blog (along with Dreamweaver) and now it will be more trickier to do.

Are you saying that you are dropping in 3 photos? Or 3 albums full of photos? Just how many photos? There is a limit of 99 photos per photo template. It won't accept more if you have dragged in more than that.

Iphoto2 verses iphoto5, exporting photos to web pages

I am wondering how different the feature of exporting photos to the web page in new iphoto5 version verses iphoto2 (which i have) is? does it have the option of the aligning images in the table cell, choosing the font's face and size. where i can find this information, please?

Swf play speed and web page speed are Different

Any idea why the swf's visual speed is different when viewed
as a swf or viewed from a browser page?
Some factoids: I have Flash 8.0, Action script 2.0. I have
published the swf (and related html) locally. 15 fps. The flash
contains animation, and an event audio.
When I author and adjust the timing of the audio and the
animation in my flash file it is synchronized. Further, when I
preview the animation it is synched. Also it is synched if I view
the swf from the hard drive.
However, if I invoke the swf's html file, either online or
locally, the visual significantly lags the audio.
It is not a matter of swf size as the swf is .4 meg. It is
not a matter of computer resources as the computer I have is the
latest model nicely equipped Dell.

well, it's not so strange the difference in size.
As I wrote before, it's iWeb that create a new background image for every page.
In the page menu>layout you can choose the background image. My original background image file is just 152Kb.
But in that menu I setted the file as "Tinted image fill" and "Tile".
So iWeb "tints" my original file with a color and change it from jpg to png and then, istead of just "tiling" the image to fill the length of each page, it tiles the tinted image to fill the length of each page and then create a file of that length. So it's not a real tiling, and the background_1 file become different for every page.
In an other web site I just chose a background image and tiled it. Well the bg. file created by iWeb is smaller than the original one and it's really just tiled, so the file is the same for every page, even the length of pages is different.
The problem is the "tinted image fill" setting. As I wrote and as you tested, if you use a graphics editing software, you can create by yourself the "tinted image file" and then use it as background in iWeb without the "tinted image fill" and "tile" setting on, but just "image fill" and "tile" setting on.
The files you dowloaded from my site are not the original one. The original bg file is white with the paper pattern and it's 640X480 152Kb jpg file. You cannot find it on the site, it's just in my hard disk.
So I have to tint the original white paper pattern file with the green I like by a software and then save it as a small jpg file. In iWeb just set this new file as bg "image fill" and "tile".

Getting multiple swf files on a web page to work on multiple computers

I'm designing a test course for 50 people using Captivate 5. This is how my course is designed:
1) I create individual Flash files (.swf) for each topic and place them on a folder in my local server.
2) I create an INDEX html page with <a href> links to all the topics. When a user clicks on a topic, the get redirected to another html page. On this page the .sef file is embedded and the flash file starts playing immediately.
My question is, is it possible for 50 users to access the INDEX html page and will take up tests simulataneosly. That is, 50 users will be accessing the same embedded flash file at the same time. Will this cause any issues? Will the flash file be loaded on all computers at the same time? Will the loading be slow..

To add to Lilybiri's post...
Generally, Flash files are not 'played from' the server - they are downloaded to the user's computer and played from there. So the only impact your situation would cause is if your server can't keep up with the demand of having to send the data to those 50 users at the same time.
There's really no guideline for this... Is your server...decent? Good network connection, pretty fast serving and hard drives?
If it's a decent server at all, it shouldn't be a problem. Once the server delivers the requested test (Flash) file to the user, it's done until the next file is requested (next link is clicked). If any worries, perhaps stagger the 50 users by a minute or two, if possible.
You don't mention any reporting. No tracking of these tests to any centralized location? Plainly no LMS involved, right? If you're not sending any results back to the server or other centralized location, you've even less to worry about.

Petteri, SWFObject is much better because it loads the JavaScript so you don't see it inside the HTML page, but it still wraps the swf in a div which by default will be positioned in the upperleft of the browser window.
This is the only way I've been able to center using SWFObject—note that it's the "flashcontent" div style that does the centering not the align embed parameter:

Playing swf file by onclick in html web page

First time poster so please forgive any protocol lapses. I'm trying to play an AS3 swf embedded in my web page by an onclick javascript function in my page. Have tried many different ways, including the ExternalInterface class but no luck. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have a feeling that I'm overlooking something very basic.

No need to be sorry... one other thing... the url to the swf uses the "public_html" directory as a lead-in.

The public_html directory of a web site is typically where a web site's content is placed as the base for a web site on a host server. Unless you have a directory named public_html within what is probably already the public_html folder, then you do not want to specify that. It is more probably supposed to be...

If you look at the various images that are specified in the html code, they do not specify that directory. So if the swf is in the same folder as them, you do not want to be specifying the public_html part of that address.

Can't export a web page

I've just upgradded to iLife '08. When I try to save a web page the same as I had with the previous version of iPhoto, it doesn't work. The following steps are taken:
Highlight eight photos in a folder
Select File>Export
In the Export Photos window, select Web Page tab
Make other selections on the page and click Export
Then I've tried various file destination folders and the Desktop
When I click OK, an Exporting sub-window appears for a moment, then it changes to say
Unable to generate web page and only gives me the option to Cancel
It gives me no clues as to why it is unable to generate a web page. It has created the folders for the Images, Pages and Thumbnails but there isn't anything in those folders. I believe this is the same steps I used many times with iPhoto '06 to create a web pages.
Does anyone have an idea on how to save web pages with the new iPhoto? How can I revert back to the old version of iPhoto?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. See if this will help.
Next, log into another account or boot into Safe Mode and see if you can export to a web page. If so then there's something amiss with your account. If not, then a reinstall of iPhoto seems appropriate.

Linking from SWF files to web pages

Hi
I'm using the latest Flash CS3.
Basically, I want to link from the SWF file to a webpage.
Here's what I've done so far.
Created the FLA file, imported the quicktime movie into it
etc etc.
I've then added a behaviour by clicking on the inserted
movie, then BEHAVIORS >WEB> GO TO WEB PAGE> and filled in
all the relevant text for the link.
Then I have saved the file. Then I have published then OK.
I have embeded the SWF file in a web page, but when I click
on the movie, it shows there's a link, but it won't link to the
webpage.
What am I doing wrong? I dont understand.
Can't get my head around this!
When I go to the FLA file, then publish preview > flash,
and the movie appears on its own, the link works... but the SWF
file doesn't.
Basically what do I need to do to make it work.
The coding I am using in my web-page is:

Settings for Exporting DVD Video to Web Pages

I have some short family dvd's that I want to export to some web pages.
What's the best method to :
1 extract the dvd content
2 create media for web viewing
BTW: I think I'd rather use MP4 with h.264 (rather than .flv) for this set of media
Q :
1 - what are the best apps for extracting from dvd and then encoding the MP4
(handbrake - quicktime - squeeze etc?) mac is preferred - or pc is ok too
2 - for the 'average' dsl/cable connection what are the best (safest) video frame sizes and bitrate settings ... I was thinking something like:
480x320 and bitrate xxxx?
or can I go as big as
640x480 and bitrate xxxx?

Embedding connect asset (captivate project) in web page

How do I reference a Connect address (asset) such as from the Connect server that don't end in an html file using the embed command in html so that the content shows on my web page?
a.    I tried the flash object and movie in dreamweaver CS3 but I couldn’t get it to work.
b.    If I upload the swf files to the same server as the web page I can use the embed command to push the swf files on a web page. I bypass the html page that makes the plugin announce a security warning.
c.    If I do that the FLVs don’t play using Captivate 3 on an http server.
d.    My Captivate projects works when I play the URL from the Connect Server and the FLVs play but I can’t embed them in a web page. Can I see some sample code.

Thank you for your response, this was helpful, however the problem remains as to how the video is seen in the frame. Unless I specify a height for the iframe, (which I don't want to do as it need to be responsive) the height of the captivate project has huge borders, margins which I can't seem to get rid of when it is part of an iframe?
