Swf files aren't showing up!

I have a real problem! Swf files don't seem to show up at
all! I've tried everything! At first i thought it was the path to
the file but now i reaised they just don't show up at all once i
upload the files.
If you look at the source you can see the flash file
"button1.swf" is there but why the hell isn't it showing up in the
page?
Can anyone help as this is pretty urgent! I'm working on a
job that relies on flash and nothing is showing up!
Thanks in advance
P.s. forgot to mention i'm embedding the swf file into a html
page in dreamweaver. Kinda thinking this has something to do with
it as i've just upgraded to cs3 and heard other people having the
same problem!
Can anyone help?

I have the same problem and I do have the script. I've tried
it with and without a table cell. My page is

  • SWF files doesn't show in flash

    I converted some videos into swf files. I opened them in flash player and they all look fine,  but when I imported one  in flash and put it in the scene the only thing visible was a small white circle, like the one that appears at the center of the objects when you select them. It couldn't be moved, it could barely be selected  and it doesn't show up when testing the movie.  I don't need to edit the video in flash, I just want to put it together with other elements, something similar to this http://mawichan.deviantart.com/art/Oban-WEB-PAGE-381429374
    I have the suspicion that they don't work because they were not originally made in flash, since I have worked with swf files in flash before, but those were banners previously made in flash.
    However I would like to hear the opinion and/or advice of someone who knows more  than me, I am still a beginner.
    Thank you.

    video files should be played in flash using the flvplayback component (or using the netstream class), not converted to swfs. ie, create a fla, add an flvplayback component to your stage and, in the properties panel, assign the component's source to be your video file.  (use a relative path.)

  • Swf file won't show up in dreamweaver?

    I have been racking my brain on this one, and can't seem to figure it out.. I'm sure it is something simple.. that I'm just not getting.. I created a movie clip in flash CS3 and when i preview the movie in flash, It works fine.. However, when I upload the swf file of the movie clip to dreamweaver cs3 and preview it on the webpage, it shows nothing but a blank screen? Any ideas on why this is happening? any input on this will be greatly appreciated, Thank you in advance!

    Thank you for the link.  I can see a still image of a swimming pool, but no movie clip.  I think you need to
    fix the movie clip (post in the Flash forum);
    fix your website (post in the Dreamweaver forum);
    fix your Flash Player installation (post details in this forum).

  • An swf file does not show up in the website even though you can see it in preview and publish

    I created a swf file from a mov file in Adobe Encoder. Thge movie shows up in Muse in both the preview and publish mode.
    Does not show up in the webstie. The html file is in the assets foder and the swf file is in the image folder and the space is blank.
    When i encoded the .mov file I saved it as FLV. Web 1920 x 1080, 16 x 9 5.4 Mbps is the setting for Flash Web Video when i encoded the file.

  • Embedded swf files don't show / slow to load when viewing project online

    I'm playing with the trial version of Captivate 3 and doing a
    mock up of an e learning module. I have a project which is about 30
    slides long and 4 or 5 of those slides have full motion recording
    objects on the slide (that were created when I drag and dropped
    something during the recording process). When I publish the
    project, it creates a separate swf file for each of the motion
    recordings...
    When I upload my published captivate project to my web server
    (the html doc, main swf, and supporting swfs), everything plays
    fine until I get to one of the slides that had one of the full
    motion recordings on it. When I get to those slides, the captions
    keep appearing, the audio keeps playing, etc. but the slide is
    blank - the full motion recording doesn't load.
    It appears that it just hasn't loaded yet, because if I try
    running the whole thing again, then it works fine!
    It's like the supporting SWF file hadn't finished loading but
    the main swf just kept on going...
    This seems like a really big bug to me? I'm pulling my hair
    out :(
    Is there a way to compile the whole project into 1 SWF file?
    Is there a way to embed the SWF files into the main SWF file so it
    is taken into account when preloading?
    Thanks to anyone who has some advice!! help!
    Gaspar

    Hi Gaspar,
    Are you using a preloader for the project? If so, the default
    one in Captivate waits for 60% of the project to load before
    playing. Perhaps try to add the preloader if you aren't using one,
    or remove it if you are to see if that makes a difference. In
    Captivate 3, you can change this option in Preferences -->
    Project --> Start and End --> Loading Screen.
    Good luck,
    David
    Edit: I just tried this too and got the same results when
    publishing with all versions of Flash - I was a little surprised to
    see it even with Flash 7 exports, because Captivate has let me
    embed .swf animations into a single .swf project file using Flash
    7. I'm guessing that whatever Flash "engine" Captivate uses to
    create its own FMV .swfs must be Flash 8 or 9. That would be
    something that would be nice to adjust - especially because of the
    lack of the ability to merge .swf files into one file. I guess I'll
    send a feature request again...

  • All text in SWF file doesn't show

    I have 3 text pages in a site that need to be shown in the ScrollPane Component. They are 3 different sizes: 640 X 1150, 640 X 2300 and 640 X 2800. I know that the max depth is 2880 px. When I preview each text SWF file in either HTML or Flash, the text is cut off about 1/3rd of the way from the bottom, but the Pane keeps scrolling with blank space and no text. I've linked each SWF file to it's ScrollPane and the same situation holds true in the Flash site file. It seems to me that it's not the ScrollPane component, It's my Flash file. Do any of you magical Guru's have a reason or solution for this? Thanks for any insight. I'm blind at this point.

    I've solved the problem in a round-about way. I re-did the SWF files in Flash 8! All the text was there when I previewed it in Flash 8 and when I moved the SWF F8 file to the FCS4 folder site the ScrollPane worked perfectly. Looks like a Flash CS4 problem to me. I hope this helps others with the same problem. I'm just glad I still have Flash 8 on my computer! Hello, Adobe or should I say Macromedia? Sorry.

  • Flash swf. file will only show in template and not linked pages

    I placed a swf. file on my template page in a non-editable region. I then updated all the files that were linked to that template.
    I then looked at the linked pages in Dreamweaver and I can see the image of the swf. in all the affected pages.
    However when I check the pages through the browser the swf. is not there.
    I'm using Dreamweaver cs3. Can anyone help?
    Thanks,

    Hi
    I do not use dw templates, but the problem is probably with the linking. Also if your swf file is linking to other files then all your html pages must be in the same position in your file structure as your original, (working) html page, otherwise the link references will be wrong.

  • How do I tell Windows 7 to open SWF files (executable not showing in Program Files)

    Windows 7 asks for a program to open SWF, and I installed Shockwave, but I cannot find the program in Program Files or Program Files (X-86).
    On Windows XP, SWF files automatically opened with Shockwave, but now W7 says I need a plug-in for my Firefox browser to open it with Flash Player.

  • Imported swf file is not showing at all

    Hello!
    I have custom swf that I have created in Flash Pro CS5, in AS 3.0. It calls upon two .as files which are in an "actionscript" subfolder and it reads a .xml which is in the same path as the custom.swf (no subfolder). The swf works perfectly fine when launched on its own (i.e. loads the .as + the .xml files correctly).
    Now, I imported the swf in a brand new Catalyst project, which pretty much just has a square as a background. However, when imported, the .swf shows up as a simple icon with a question mark and has a deafault size of 30x30 instead of 500x500 (unlike other swfs which usually show up with the simple "f" icon and have their correct default sizes). Knowing that on import the Catalyst won't import the .as and .xml files I duly copied them to the "src" folder under C:/users/USERNAME/Application Data/Adobe... etc. I also set up the action sequence "OnApplication Start" to play the .swf
    I preview the project and I pretty much get only the gray square with no trace of any swf whatsoever. I decided I might have the paths setup wrong somehow. So I published and copied my .as & .xml files into the same folder where my custom.swf is (i.e. \run-local\assets\images). When i play the custom.swf there on its own it works fine (as expected). However loading the Main.html from the \run-local folder again doesn't show anything but the square. Then, I also copied the .as + .xml in the \run-local root folder where the Main.swf is located (as I read that they need to be in the same path as the top level container). Again there was no effect.
    Please help me solve this issue. I believe that the fact that the custom.swf is imported with wrong default dimensions (30x30 instead of 500x500) and the wierd icon might have something to do with it. I can upload the source files somewhere if necessary.
    Thanks!

    Hi, Chris!
    Thanks for giving it a thought but that didn't seem to help :/
    I'll try recompiling it tonight in a few different ways to see if anything changes. I'm testing entirelly on the local drive.Still haven't tried uploading anything from that project to the web.
    Just a s note - the swf is entirely powered by the two .as files (because it just renders some words from an xml) so maybe there might be an issue if the file doesn't really contain much (although i tried putting some colored boxes inside and it didn't help).
    I'll post links to the .fla and the .as files later today.

  • AS3 coding - movie in swf file doesn't show

    I would be so greatful if someone can help with this. I've been sitting for days to find my mistake but my inexperience really holds me back here
    In my spelling game I have letters falling out of the sky - players have to click on them. I tested one letter in this swf. It works as I planned but it was only one letter hard coded.
    So now I have many levels and I added the letters needed for each level in arrays generated through a loop. They trace correctly, but they do not show up in this swf.
    I'm sure I am just missing a bit of code in the function or didn't addChild correctly. I doubble checked that the missing MC is not behind the background by turning the backgroung off, but it is not that.
    Where am I going wrong?
    Here is the relevant code:
    package
        import flash.display.*;
        import flash.text.TextField;
        import flash.events.Event;

                                    trace (activeLevelofTilesArray[i]);
                                    activeLevelofTilesArray[i].x = 399;
                                    activeLevelofTilesArray[i].y= 30;
                                    addChild(activeLevelofTilesArray[i]);
                                function shuffle(a:Array)
                                    var p:int;
                                    var t:*;
                                    var ivar:int;
                                    for (ivar = a.length-1; ivar>=0; ivar--)
                                        p=Math.floor((ivar+1)*Math.random());
                                        t = a[ivar];
                                        a[ivar] = a[p];
                                        a[p] = t;

    part of your problem could be that I am only seeing that you create one instance of every letter but using this letter multiple times in your Arrays
    check this code:
    var a:A = new A();
    addChild(a);
    addChild(a);
    addChild(a);
    addChild(a);
    addChild(a);
    addChild(a);
    for (var i:int = 0; i<=stage.numChildren-1;i++){
        trace("checking");
        if (getChildAt(i) is A){
            trace("A found");
    Flash will throw no error and you might think that you actually put multiple instances of A on stage, but in fact Flash only creates one instance.
    similar thing with your code:
    [a,a,f,f,f,g,g,h,h,i,i,n,n,n,o,o,o,o,s,s,t,t,t];
    addChild(activeLevelofTilesArray[i]);
    will not add multiple instances of your objects if you only use the new keyword once for every letter.
    Another thing: Why do you need WordArray to be dynamic?
    Using dynamic has some caveats: http://flexblog.faratasystems.com/2006/10/02/actionscript-3-dynamic-classes

  • AS3 issue embedding AS2 .swf files

    Hi there,
    I'm attempting to create a menu navigation system with Flash/AS3 that opens up a series of older AS2 activities.
    At the moment I'm testing it with two buttons/two activities.
    The problem I'm having is that when I'm testing the navigation, the first button clicked will open its respective activity correctly, which can then be shut down using the original activity's exit button, and return to the two buttons on my AS3 menu. However, if I then select the other activity from the same screen, it won't load. I'm able to click the original activity again, and have it open, but not the new one.
    If I test the main flash navigation file again and click the other button first (that wasn't working), the other activity opens fine, and can be closed down. However the first button now won't open the activity. So both the buttons work (if they're the first ones clicked), but from then on, only the first button clicked works.
    In the debug panel, it looks as if the AS2 .swf files that I'm attempting to embed are themselves embedding a wrapper.swf file (with navigation buttons) as well as another sub set of shared .swf files for their own operation. Might it possible that these sub swf files aren't being unloaded properly when I switch between the main AS2 movies from my menu system?
    Is there a way to clear/unload everything that's been loaded (even resources loaded by the external files themselves - like a hard reset) between button presses?
    I have no access to the original AS2 code as this was done by another team years back.
    I'd be really grateful for any help or advice that anyone might be able to give.
    Thanks

    Just looking at the debugging panel, this is what I see when I try and run the program:
    Attempting to launch and connect to Player using URL /*****/*****/****.swf
    [SWF] Volumes:Data:Documents:*****:****:****:*****.swf - 876582 bytes after decompression
    [SWF] Volumes:Data:Documents:*****:****:****:*****:F11_pr_qu_3:quiz.swf - 176016 bytes after decompression
    LocateFolders.enginesFolder(file:///*****/****/****/*****/F11_pr_qu_3/quiz.swf)
    [SWF] Volumes:Data:Documents:*****:****:****:*****:F11_pr_qu_3:wrapper.swf - 481279 bytes after decompression
    ### Latest wrapper ###
    etc etc...
    Then follows a whole set of loading instructions and trace instructions put in the as2 swf which show XML files being loaded and the program launching. These must have been put in place by the previous programmer.
    When I click the exit button on the 'embedded' swf, the debugging panel shows things shutting down:
    ActivityToolbar clickQuit()
    Wrapper quitActivity()
    EndGame clear(false)
    Now when I click the second button, I should see a similar set of launching greetings etc. instead it bottles out at the following:
    [SWF] Volumes:Data:Documents:*****:****:****:*****:F11_wb_fc_1:flashcards.swf - 94720 bytes after decompression
    LocateFolders.enginesFolder(file:///file:///*****/****/****/*****/F11_wb_fc_1/flashcards.s wf)
    And there it stops.
    If I restarted the program and pressed the second button first, it would show the flashcards.swf activity loading correctly, but would then refuse to load the first activity when I clicked on the button.

    both safari and firefox to preview the page and it still doesnt
    show up. If I use an .swf file however that shows up in my page.
    Any suggestions?

    > mm_menu.js file to server
    That certainly needs to be uploaded, but only if you are
    using the DW/FW
    pop-up menus. It would have nothing to do with Flash or its
    operation.
    > upload all files associated with it , swf fla to get it
    to work
    Again, you do need to upload files that are referenced on
    your page, but
    uploading the FLA files will not do anything for you - they
    are not web
    files, only Flash files to be used locally by Flash.
    > A easy way to preview them to make sure they are working
    properly
    Here's an even easier way - just browse directly to the
    files, e.g.,

  • Unable to preview SWF file.

    Hi All,
    We have a dashboard created on webi report by using Live-Office connection. And i have exported the dashboard as SWF file and stored in my local desktop. When i am trying to open this SWF file, it is showing message "Initializing......" from very long time.
    I am facing this issue only if i selected option "Refresh before components are loaded" in Live-office data manager connections tab.
    If i un select this option, i am able open my dashboard with out any issue.
    Versions:
    Xcelsius: 14.0.2.641
    Live-Office: 14.0.2.682

    Thanks for clear navigation steps. But unfortunately I am unable to find "Advanced" tab within the privacy tab.

  • FLV file don't show on iPhones, iPads, etc.

    I'm on a iMac with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 processor running 10.6.8. I build websites using Dreamweaver CS4 and all my media files are FLV files. I've noticed that none of the media shows on a iPhone, iPad, etc. Is there a media file format that I can use that works for browsers and will show on iPhones, iPod, etc.? I also noticed that SWF file don't show either. Any direction would be helpful.

    Those are Flash content types. Flash doesn't exist on iOS, and won't exist on any future mobile platforms, according to Adobe.
