SWF over DIV Layer

Hi,
I'm going trough some difficulties upon trying to make an
HTML DIV Layer appear over a SWF movie clip embbed on a page.
The DIV initial status is hidden(display:none) but in a
certain moment this div must be shown and it should appear over the
swf movie. The problem is that swf movie always appear over the DIV
Layer. I've set up the Z-Index and it did not work correctly.How
can I get this behaviour to make swk appear below the div layer?
Thanks a lot.

Not by the method you mention in your subject line -
All Active content on a page will always rise to the top, so
to speak,
including Flash, certain form elements, Java applets, and
Active X controls.
This means that each of these will poke through layers. There
is not a good
cross-browser/platform reliable way to solve this issue, but
if you can be
confident in your visitors using IE 5+ or NN6+, then you can
use the Flash
wmode parameter (however, Safari does not support this
properly!).

  • How do I put a SWF on a layer in a PDF and turn off visibility?

    I have a PDF file produced from a Word document.  I can embed a SWF just fine with my Acrobat 9 Pro Extended package but what I want to do is more than place it in a blank space on a page.  I want to add it to a layer that I can turn the visibility of on and off with a link so that I can float the SWF over the body of the text temporarily.  I've been successful going to a page via links and bookmarks but I want a link to turn on a layer with the SWF already on it when I activate a button link.  Then I want to be able to go back to the original page view by turning off the layer.  I created layers via Illustrator resaved the file as PDF and embedded the SWF on that layer.  The problem is that I could not get the visibility to turn off with the layer menu.
    Ideas anyone please?
    By the way, I got a letter back from the moderator of the Acrobat Forum when I contacted him directly with this question, He sent me to this part of the Forum with the question I posed to him.  Rules!  There are some but it is not easy to find them!
    Has anyone else had the same trouble I have had with getting oriented and operating on the Forum?  I think that a real live phone conversation would be and easier way to get answers than this Forum is.  I know Adobe is ubiquitous and it would be very expensive but other popular software companies make getting support much easier than this is.

  • Div Layer on top of Div Layer impossible problem

    Hello guys,
    For over 42 hours I've been puzzling myself with this problem.
    Using Dreamweaver cs5.5, i have a text box with overflow:auto, because there's alot of text. On top of this layer I have another div layer with a pic that fades when the page loads.  My problem is the scrollbar is beneath the layer for the pic that fades, so when you try to scroll down the page you cannot because the pic layer blocks it.  In Internet Explorer it works perfectly fine, but not in any other browser.
    Anyone know any way around this uberly frustrating problem?
    Thanks, and take care!

    Thank you for your response Murray....Below is the code.  I appreciate any and all input.

  • Show/Hide Div Layer with CSS (k)

    Is there a way you can control the visibility of a Div Layer
    without
    Javascript? Using CSS perhaps?
    Even though a small percentage doesn't have Javascript
    enabled, I need
    to have something to show. In this case a webpage that has
    button when
    clicked shows a layer.
    Can this be accomplished with CSS?

    Clicks, to the average user's grasp of conventional wisdom,
    are permanent.
    You click and something happens. We're talking about web
    pages here, not OS
    controls -- so a Windows flyout menu that initializes on
    click, works on
    mouseover, and closes onclick is not necessarily a good
    analogy. I would bet
    a tidy sum that any focus group that did not include web
    designers would,
    consensually, be confused by that page. Moreover, the
    behavior is not the
    same in all browsers.
    > ...and on top of that, it is very keyboard friendly.
    > So it is not *that* bad...
    That's the only good thing - but making a page that works
    well for keyboard
    users at the expense of the rest of the world is not logical.
    But hell, if Kirk likes that technique, he is certainly free
    to use it. I
    was just reading through this forum today and was kind of
    surprised to see
    someone recommending that technique.

  • AP DIV layer problem

    Is there any way the AP DIV layer can work in a centered

    Murray, I asked before about the rollover images and the grid
    design with photos. You gave me a solution but I couldn't even find
    some of the things you mentioned. Are you on a pc? I am on a mac.
    Is that why?
    I got it to work great with the divs without centering my
    page in the browser window as it moves.

    Sure.
    Change this -

    to this -
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    body { text-align:center; }
    #wrapper { text-align:left; width:760px; margin:0
    auto;position:relative; }
    /* 760px will display on an 800px screen maximized browser
    window without */
    /* horizontal scrollbars. */
    -->
    </style>
    </head>
    change this -
    <body ...>
    to this -
    <body ...>
    <div id="wrapper">
    and this -
    </body>
    to this -

    and see if that helps.

  • Graphics layer over video Layer problem

    Hello!
    we are blu-ray applications developers and we have a problem with repainting graphics layer over video layer. In MHP this problem is solved using the method call repaint() to the HScene. This Method remove all graphics and paint again. But in Blu-ray is not work correctly. When you have a graphics over video, this graphics don´t disappear when you paint other graphics, because don´t refresh the HScene and all the containers get painted over the others.
    what is the solution of this problem?
    Thanks a lot for your help!
    Regards

    Thanks for your reply.
    As far as I know, targas can only be RGB. I couldn't find a way in Photoshop to work in YCbCr. I have Photoshop CS, so its pretty old, but even on my work computer, which has CS3, I didn't see anything. Next week I'll be installing CS4, so there might be something in that.
    I won't be able to test anything until late tonight, but I'll try several formats to see if they make a difference. I'm wondering if there might also be some kind of option in FCE to convert imported graphics to the correct color space.
    When keying graphics over video in your projects, how do you save them(formate,color space, etc)? Ever see this issue?
    Thanks for your help

  • Advantages of 3-layer architecture over 2-Layer

    Dear All,
    Can anyone please explain me the advantages of 3-Layer architecture ( Core-Distribution-Access) over 2-Layer Architecture ?
    Thanks and Regards.

    The CDA model (Cisco's 3 Layer Hiearchical model) is typically used in a medium to large network - although, it can also be used in a small network, it just might not be financially feasible depending on the company's budget. The 3 layer architecture will also help allocate resources better throughout the network. For instance, the core can do its job and ensure high speed packet delivery, the distribution switches can focus on things like routing between VLANs (or subnets) and QoS, while the access layer can focus on delivering data to the end users. This model also allows much better scalability than the two layer model.
    The collapsed core architecture (2 layer) is mostly used in small networks. It may be used for perhaps, a small branch office. It takes the above CDA model and collapses it into 2 layers. Either the core/distribution and access model or the core and distribution/access model. Depending on the size of the network, it might be a wise financial decision to take this route instead of the 3 Layer Architecture. Although, from a technical standpoint, the 3 layer model is the way to go.

  • Centering Image Horizontally within Div Layer

    I've placed an image inside a div layer. The div layer is 200 pixels wide by 200 pixels high. My image is 480 pixels x 720 pixels. So the layer is smaller than the image. How do I center the image horizontally within my div layer? I've applied a css rule on the layer as followed:
    #pictureframe {
    position:absolute;
    width:200px;
    height:200px;
    overflow: hidden;
    text-align: center;
    vertical-align: middle;
    display: inline-block;
    Because the image is larger than the div layer the image doesn't want to center horizontally. It seem to justify itself on the left side of the div layer even though I've applied a text-align: center on it. Any suggestions.

    Make your division at least as wide as your image.  Height of divisions should always be determined by content inside it.  If you impose a height limit on your division, increased content or text size will fail, causing content to be hidden.  If required to display a background-image, use the min-height property.
    APDivs as a primary layout method seldom works well. Here is why:
    http://apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php
    Also, APDivs cannot be centered as they are removed from the normal page flow. You might try wrapping an APDiv inside a relatively positioned parent container, but without seeing your page (entire code), it's impossible to say for sure if this will work for you.

  • Displaying an swf below an html div layer

    I'm trying to get an swf to display underneath an html div,
    but the browser seems to always put the swf on the top-most layer.
    I read a while back when I tried this before that it wasn't
    possible as the browser would always load plug-in content top most,
    but I notice on thsi site (adobe.com) the menu's are html based and
    display over the promo swf element within the home page. Adobe use
    some fairly heavy javascript to display all the elements to their

  • Overlaying SWF Asset with layer components - Strange behaviors.

    Hi !
    I am brand new at Flash Builder and Flash Catalyst.
    I have been spending most of my time in Catalyst at first and realized later on that I needed some of the nice features inside of FlashBuilder.
    I created a few FlashBuilder components and brought them in Catalyst in order to speed up my designing requirements.
    After bringing in several SWF assets in Catalyst I stumlbed upon a few curious behavior.
    1. If I load SWF assets in a same page and if they are inter mixed with components layers issued either from Photoshop or made from within Catalyst, I am unable to select most of them.  Only and only if I move them away from the other components, I can actually select them. They also become available when I make a test run, which they weren't before, if they were close or under other layerrs,  but stll visible.
    2. Is there a reason why the names of the SWF are not visual at the layer level within Catalyst ?  All I see once the SWF are loaded is the terminology SWF Asset with the Skin name Wireframe.  This also seems to be creating a conflict in how the SWF components are selectable, since every time I select one of the SWF Asset, it is the one at the highest level in the layer stack that gets selected and not the one that I am attempting to select.
    3. I ran once into a problem which was related to Skin name convention where I was duplicating buttons that always kept the same Skin name, which made it impossible to re-use them, since any modification would affect all of the duplicated components.  Why can't Catalyst create new Skin names in order to avoid this behavior?
    I am pretty happy using Catalyst and Builder, but I gotta say that some of those behaviors are putting a dent in my schedule.
    Anyone would have a few words of advice ?   I am especially concerned with the "perceived" impossibiliy to use more than one SWF asset within Catalyst.
    Thank you.
    lg

    Oops, on looking back at my original post I can see I was not
    clear on an important point. The layers that hold the three
    different swf files are in Dreamweaver, one layer holds
    Parks_Monuments.swf, another holds Land_Seascapes.swf and the third
    holds Cityscapes.swf. As it works now you click on the appropriate
    button on the left and through the use of Dreamweaver behaviors it
    shows the associated swf by hiding the other two layers. BTW the
    buttons are quite crude right now - no over or down states.
    I realize I can't use the layers in an Actionscript to do
    something but would it be possible to add a script to the down
    state of a button so that it would show/hide the Dreamweaver
    layers? I guess another way of doing it would be to put each swf on
    a seperate page and have the script call up it's URL. Seems like
    that would add a lot of overhead and duplicate uploading each time
    the user switches photo categories.
    Sorry for the confusion and thanks for taking the time to
    give me some guidance - much appreciated.

  • FLV in SWF over the web. Possible or Not?

    Is it possible to insert an FLV in a captivate project,
    publish it, and upload it to the web and watch it???
    apparently not. It works locally, it works if you publish to
    the 'C:\' drive and then download the file to another person's
    'C:\' drive and open it. But it doesn't work if you try to open it
    over a network.
    I'm simply creating a .cp file in a folder. Putting an .flv
    file in the same folder. Publishing the .cp file to create the .swf
    and .html all in the same folder. I even take out the full path to
    the .flv file so there is nothing but the filename. It doesn't work
    except locally on my machine.
    It seems ridiculous that this wouldn't work over a network or
    the web. It works if you embed video in a swf and insert it as an
    animation, but that is lame (super huge file size).

  • Is it possible to overlay a PNG over video layer?

    This process may be strange but there's a reason for this madness. We are taking h.264 .mp4 videos into PowerPoint then using the Acrobat 9 extended pro add-on and converting this file to a .pdf. There's possibly a need to put a watermark over the video. However when we insert a transparent PNG over the video in PowerPoint then convert it to .PDF the video punches through the PNG. It seems like the video layer wants to be the frontmost even if listed as part of the background in Acrobat. We can go back to the video and do it there but we would have to process the video again so we're trying to avoid that. Any ideas?

We set the high Z index forApplet div and low for freezing DIV and also tried in reverse. But it is not working..
    How to solve this problem?
    Regards,
    Senthil

    The problem is that applets are not part of the DOM.   This is why most commonly; iframes are used whenever you need to "dynamically" need to manipulate a MII applet.   You may be better off using an XSLT style sheet transform or AJAX / Javascript framework so that you can more precisely control your grids.
    Some people have tried using OBJECT tags instead of APPLET but I haven't heard of much success in this route.
