  • Text2gui Swing developer tool

    Hi all,
    I'd like to announce my new product, text2gui, which makes Swing development much faster.
    text2gui lets you specify a GUI hierarchy using a syntax that is much easier to write compared to Java. Here is an example of a GUI description:
    contentPanel.layout=box axis=y
    contentPanel.contents=[
    {jscrollpane viewportView=%pictureLabel},
    %controlPanel
    pictureLabel.icon=$icon
    pictureLabel.border=etched
    pictureLabel.hAlign=center
    controlPanel.layout=box axis=x
    controlPanel.contents=[{glue},
    %indexLabel, {strut}, %indexField, {strut length=20},
    %backButton, %forwardButton, {strut length=20},
    %randomCheckBox, {glue}
    indexLabel.text=Picture Index
    indexField.dispatchType=jformattedtextfield
    indexField.value=$pictureIndex:ruw
    indexField.prefSize={width=50, height=20}
    backButton.icon.location=Back24.gif
    backButton.pressed=$back:w
    backButton.tooltip=Go to the previous picture
    Because descriptions are parsed at runtime, you don't need to recompile any code
    to change the GUI. Also, your application's GUI can be upgraded after deployment, even at runtime.
    These descriptions are stored in resource bundles, so GUI's described by text2gui are very easy to internationalize. Unlike the i18n stuff supplied with the JDK, text2gui makes every property of a component
    locale-dependent, not just strings.
    GUI descriptions can reference two types of variables: the % prefix means to reference another resource
    bundle key, and the $ prefix means to reference values in a map passed to the text2gui converter. This means that GUI's built with text2gui can have properties determined at runtime.
    GUI descriptions can also contain BeanShell scripts, so descriptions are self-contained and usually don't need compiled Java code to manage them. But text2gui is extremely flexible; you can put your own components in a hierarchy, or pull out components from the hierarchy and manage them manually.
    The Java code required to create a GUI hierarchy looks like this:
    JPanel panel = (JPanel)
    DispatchingComponentConverter.DEFAULT_INSTANCE.toComponent(
    bundle, "contentPanel", argMap);
    Once a component is created, its properties and the properties of its parent components can be updated and changes to the properties caused by user input can be watched, through a simple interface. Using this interface allows your application to be implemented using model/view/controller (MVC) architecture.
    I believe that text2gui will dramatically reduce your Swing development time and will improve the maintainability of your code, and allow you to deploy your application in multiple languages easily. So, please check out the site:
    http://www.tacosoftware.com/products/text2gui/
    text2gui is normally licensed for commercial use -- once you purchase a license, you can redistribute the library without paying royalty fees. Freeware developers can get and re-distribute the library by paying a nominal fee.
    Please try my product today -- you can download an evaluation version for free!

    gk,
    Go to Shared Components > Definition > Status. Change to "Available".

    hi tw
    I did my certification in SAP SD from Bangalore by month of October 2012, after that
    i received only one opportunity to attend interview at Capgemini, I cleared my
    interview but unluckily project was canceled and they haven't done any recruitment.
    your view is add on Knowledge, still I am maintaining studying, at least every day 7hrs plus, but problem is, job market or industry not have need of certified person, companies prefer to get 3 years real time exp persons more willingly than certified fresher.
    I had discussed with few of the HR managers, their reply was, in certification course there is no real time project training, it’s just about overall SAP concept, so we prefer 1 or 2 years exp people.
    So my opinion is going for SAP SD certification is useless and money wasting.
    Thanks

  • Does Swing development is as easy as web development in Jdev?

    Hi
    thank you for reading my post
    are there same facilities in swing application development in jdeveloper ?
    I mean does Jdeveloper has same wizards and facilities to develop Swing GUI for databases as it has for ADF FACES ?
    for example does it has drag n drop to create data entry/search forms ?
    thanks

    Jdeveloper has visual support for swing development. You can drag and drop data controls on panels, specifying what components should be used. Jdeveloper also has support for jgoodies forms layout, which is a good layout manager for data entry panels.

  • Swing Guru needed ASAP

    Anyone that is a Swing Guru or knows someone please help.
    My client is working on cutting edge technology. They need 3 developers with experience in Java, Swing, and multithreaded applications. 2 yrs exp GUI design and development. Need one or more of the following skills: JXTA, JNI, WebDav.
    This postion is full-time and is located in Dallas, TX.
    You can email your resume to [email protected]

    Figure some of the normal Java riff raff might also
    be helpful.
    Swing = Java pretty much anyways, right? "pretty much", yes. But there's much to know in Java, and there are people who know some parts much better than others.
    Anyway. I suppose that event behaviour may be due to the fact the rendering components are not added to the component tree, but merely renderered at certain positions. I don't think you can change that.
    What you can do, however, is, for instance, add an EventListener (say MouseListener, MouseMotionListener, or MouseWheelListener) at the top-level (the Table), get the rendering component at the location of the mouseevent, tranlate the event (there are a few methods in SwingUtilities for that -- you have to adapt the coordinate space), and reach it down.
    Somebody of the Swing forum might know of a more elegant way, though.

  • New development - need new roads added and 33 lot address locations corrected

    Hello, I am in the new homes and residential development business. I just developed a new residential development and I need to get Bing to update their roads and addresses. The addresses and roads have been in existence since about August 2014. I would have
    expected them to be updated by now but the roads are missing and the address locations are incorrect.
    I have figured out how to get in touch with and submit bulk data to Google (Map Content Partners), but I cannot find an access point to Bing. I have gone the route of reporting mapping errors via Bing Maps, but I
    was wondering if their is a way to give Bing bulk mapping data to update new addresses and roads. I have shape files that include parcel boundaries, road centerlines, address blocks, and address points. I have also included the lot address and correct location
    coordinates below.
    Any help appreciated.

    It doesn't look like our data provider has this data yet. Note that in order for new addresses and roads to be added our data provider usually needs to drive to correctly capture all required information. I'll pass this information on to them so they can
    get this updated.

  • Oracle SQL Developer needs some work

    I just downloaded a copy today (1557) for Oracle 9.2i / Windows XP Pro
    Oracle SQL Developer has a few glitches...
    A compiled and working package (compiled in SQL*Plus and TOAD) opens and shows 2 errors in a SQL Query involving a CASE statement. Invalid CASE clause on an ELSE and unexpected token on an alias at the end of the case.
    Compiling a package should display a message saying successfully compiled and the state of a package should always be on display!
    Opened an SQL script but could not execute it as the icon's didn't become active.
    Couldn't then run the script.
    These basic problems would put any serious developer off using Oracle SQL Developer.
    Also background color scheme should be gray and NOT white. White is hard on the eyes. This is just basic UI stuff.
    Oracle, you need more senoir developers!

    Justified to the top left of the sql window, you see the execute buttons. On the top right, you will see a drop down list box. After opening a file, this drop down list box is not selected. Select your connection and the execute buttons on the top left will enable.
    For PL/SQL use a slash / at the end for it to execute.
