Switch instance from EE mode to SE

Is there any way to switch Oracle instance from enterprise edition to standard?
For example I have Oracle EE with mounted DB.
Can I set some parameter so that after restarting instance will crashes if DB has bitmap indexes (only EE option)?
And is there any way to disable (without restarting instance) all EE features for query processing such as bitmap index conversion or parallel query processing?

The only way to properly convert from an Enterprise Edition database to a Standard Edition database is through an Export/Import operation. The Export/Import operation does not introduce data dictionary objects specific to the Enterprise Edition, because the SYS schema objects are not exported. Oracle recommends using the Standard Edition Export utility to export the data. After the Import in the Standard Edition database, you are only required to drop all user schemas related to Enterprise Edition features, such as the MDSYS account used with Oracle Spatial.
Below are the basic steps you need to follow to migrate your database(s).
1.Install Oracle Standard Edition in different ORACLE_HOME.
2.Backup your databases. Recommended either COLD backup or Oracle Export. If database is critical and getting downtime for consistent backup is not possible, then perform HOT backup before switching database to Oracle Standard Edition.
3.Shutdown database using 'shutdown immediate' or 'shutdown normal'
4.Set your new ORACLE_HOME and other Oracle variables appropriately. Make sure that below environment variables are pointing to new ORACLE HOME.
export ORACLE_HOME
export LIBPATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export SHLIB_PATH
export TNS_ADMIN
5.If you are using any of the below parameters, turn them off before starting database.
SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED
JOB_QUEUE_PROCESS
6.Start database under new Oracle Home.
At this point, your database is running in Oracle Standard Edition but all the Oracle dictionary tables/packages are still in Enterprise Edition. You, also, need to migrate these objects to Standard Edition. To do that, execute following scripts after connecting to Oracle as INTERNAL or SYSDBA
$>sqlplus /nolog
SQL>connect internalOR
SQL>connect /as sysdba
SQL>@?/rdbms/admin/cataproc.sql
SQL>@?/rdbms/admin/catlog.sql
Above scripts will recreate all the SYSTEM objects used by Oracle.
If you are using Oracle RMAN Catalog in your database then you also need to upgrade RMAN Catalog. To do that, connect to RMAN and execute upgrade catalog
$rman
RMAN>connect target
RMAN>upgrade catalog;
7.Shutdown database and restart it.
8.Post Migration Steps: If you are performing any backups using RMAN or any database maintenance jobs such rebuild indexes, make sure to update your scripts appropriately.
§Oracle Standard Edition supports only one RMAN channel. Make sure to update your backup/restore scripts with one channel allocation.
§Oracle Standard Edition supports only 2GB memory allocation, make sure to adjust your memory allocation accordingly.
§Oracle Standard Edition doesn’t support index rebuild ONLINE

HELP!:TB switching to/from car/desktop mode on its own and won't connect to computer

When I charge my Thunderbolt, it will randomly switch to/from desktop mode on its own. Also, it won't recognize the VZW car mount any longer. I have the app to turn on the car mode, but occasionally it will turn off, on its own, as well.
In addition to all this, my computer can't find my TB, no matter what setting I use to "Connect to PC"!

The problems your describing with your device, sound very irritating. Let's get this fixed as soon as possible.
Did this issue start after you downloaded an application? If so please delete the application and retest.

Here are the instructions for USB connection:
USB Mass Storage Mode: Allows user to transfer files between PC and device's MicroSD Card.
The device must contain a memory card and be connected to a PC via a USB cable for this feature to work.
From the home screen, touch and hold the window shade (located at the top of the screen).
Drag the window shade to the bottom of the screen
Enable USB Mass Storage
From the window shade, touch option below Ongoing Notification options, the below window will display once user
has connected device to PC.

Swith from query mode to insert mode

Hello I am calling a form with this
CALL_FORM('f11105.fmx', hide, do_replace, query_only, MY_LIST_PARAM);
In the New-Form-Instance of form f11105.fmx I would like to switch to from query_only mode to not_query_only mode following instructions that can only be executed in query mode.
How can I do that ?

If I use this to call my form, it will work and display the content of the block ATTRIB
CALL_FORM('f11105.fmx', hide, do_replace, query_only, VC_LIST_PARAM); but this can only be used to modify not to insert a new record
If I use this , which allows me to insert a new record, the content of the block ATTRIB is not displaying :
CALL_FORM('f11105.fmx', hide, do_replace, no_query_only, VC_LIST_PARAM);
I read in the doc that Go_Block can not be called from a trigger when Form Builder is in Insert/Query mode so I thought that this was the reason of my problem and I was thinking that If I could swith from query_only mode to no_query_only mode
It could solve my problem . I would call the form with
CALL_FORM('f11105.fmx', hide, do_replace, query_only, VC_LIST_PARAM);
do this in the when-new-form-instance of f11105.fmb :
GO_BLOCK('ATTRIB');

and swith back to no_query_only after

Fixed it!
1. Made sure itunes software was up to date
2. Pressed and held 'home' button and 'on-off' button at the same time for about 10 seconds till ipod reset (I hadn't done this step previously)
3. Connected to itunes
4. Pressed restore and update ipod
Update successful and ipod taken out of recovery mode

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated 12 to 12.1 Update via a project's Help Menu/Update? If not, please do so.

Just how are you trying to do that...
a. Are you in the Elements Organizer 12 workspace, right clicking the photo's thumbnail, and selecting Edit with Premiere Elements Editor
or
b. Something else.
Is there an error message that results when you try to switch "from organizer mode to editor mode" and cannot?
When you mention "....to edit a file (photo)", I wonder if you are not trying to get to Photoshop Elements 12 Editor, not Premiere Elements 12 Editor, from the Elements Organizer 12.
Please supply a step by step of what you are doing so that we can be sure that we are in sync on the details that we are using to work through your issue.

How do I switch from"Offline Mode" when using Firefox on an android device connected to the internet via Bluetooth.

I have been using my tf300. Everytime I try to open Firefox on the tablet while using a Bluetooth connection, the only screen that Firefox opens is a generic screen displaying "Offline mode". Is there a way to switch it to online mode or am I only able to use the browser on a wifi signal??

I am one of the individuals who use a third-party app to tether internet connection from my phone for my tablet. When using the stock browser, i have no problems, but when i try to use firefox, all the is displayed is an "Offline Mode" screen. Try starting iTunes with the shift key held down. If it starts it is probably some old plugin presenting problems.

I had a bright house cable modem that also had built-in wi-fi.
Don't mean to be picky here, but if the "modem" had built in Wi-Fi, it was not a modem. It was a modem/router, also known as a gateway type of device.
A device like this combines the functions of a separate modem and separate router in one package. Turning off the wireless on a device like this does not make a it modem.....it is still a modem/router or gateway with the WiFi turned off.
I think that if I have them replace the current "complicated" modem with a "simple" one I should be able to get the guest network up and running.
That would be correct. Hopefully, they offer this type of option for their customers.

Switching from manual mode to automatic mode

After a year of using manual mode, I'm planning to switch back to automatic mode. I've recreated my iTunes library and I've also saved a backup of the whole thing.
In the Apple knowledge base, I found an article that told me what to expect switching from automatic mode to manual mode ( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61675 ), but I'm not sure how the switch in the other direction is going to work.
Right now I have the same songs on my iPod and iTunes, but they aren't synced. Also, I'm near my space limit on the iPod. If I switch to automatic mode, will it first delete everything on the iPod and then replace it with what's in iTunes? That's fine if it happens in that order.
I've got close to 40GB of music on the iPod, so I'm pretty nervous about making this switch. Any advice is much appreciated.

You should be fine. The only reason that I think it would wipe everythingis if the song information has changed. (Like the artist name is spelled different, or the song name is now capatilized, etc). Since you are still syncing with the same library, it probably won't wipe everything. Also, it's a great idea that you have everything backed up and also on your computer!
Another option is just to restore your iPod and then resync it from iTunes, basically starting over if you like that better. For more info on that, look here... http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
I've seen computers wipe everything before, and then I've seen them just work with the iPod and its songs fine. As long as it is on your computer everything will be fine

Satellite P200D-11R sound and graphics crash after waking up from sleep mode

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone here has had similar experiences to mine (below) or can offer any solutions.
I have upgraded my P200D-11R OS to Vista 64 Ultimate to take advantage of the extra performance. I also add that the BIOS has already been updated to version 1.4.
Well, everything works fine with the standard 2Gig of RAM which the laptop was supplied with originally, however, when I upgrade the RAM to 4Gig (2 x 2GB Samsung 667mHz modules), sound and graphics problems appear every time the machine is brought back from sleep mode.
The sound card makes a very laud fuzzy noise every time it wants to play a sound and the graphics produce lots of horizontal lines on the screen. I then just have to restart the machine which means loosing all my unsaved work.
Everything works fine as long as the machine does not enter sleep mode. I have currently disabled the sleep mode to prevent the machine from entering it but I am finding life very hard without it.
I am very surprised and also disappointed at the fact that Toshiba did not test these machines with Vista 64 Ultimate and 4Gig of RAM!
Extra info:
The memory is the same Samsung type as the 1Gig modules supplied by Toshiba originally with the machine, and the part number Toshiba recommends.
I have tried installing other (more recent) device drivers by Realtek and ATI without any improvements.
The memory modules pass all tests and are not defective. They have also been tested on my friends Dell notebook with no problems even in sleep mode.
I have installed my friends Dell 2Gig memory modules in my P200D and they too produce exactly the same results with post-sleep crashes.
My thoughts are that this must be another BIOS issue unless anyone can shed some light on the issue from another angle.

Since you are running a Vista 32bit version, the upper limit of the memory recocnised by the machine is 3.2gb which is the maximum a 32bit operating system can address and use. The diffrence here is that I also upgraded my OS to Vista Ultimate 64bit to get yet better performance out of the 64bit dual AMD processor.
3.2gb of RAM on 32bit OS does not necessarily increase the performance. However, it keeps the performance stable when you open many more programs at the same time since the machine has more RAM to play with before staring to use the much slower hard drive as operating memory (Page File), to keep all thoes open programs running.
A 64bit OS such as Vista Ultimate 64, recognises the whole 4gb of RAM and much more (for instance, 8gb with 2 x 4gb RAM modules). The 64bit OS itself would generally consume more RAM to start with, however, with 4gb I found the general performance to be much better. Going back to the problem however, my P200D-11R with Ultimate 64 and 4gb RAM refuses to wake up from sleep mode gracefully and the graphics and sound crash every time, forcing me to restart.
My feelings at present is that eventhough your machine may be slightly different, I bet if you upgrade your OS to 64bit, the machine will start recognising all of the 4gb of RAM and post-sleep crashes will start to appear!

Hi All, Since updating to Lion, my imac won't recognise the ext HDD (Maxtor) when waking from sleep mode, I have tried another port, diisc utility (Ext HDD not listed in here) but nothing works. I now find that I have to restart the imac to get the drive recognised..which is fine until the imac goes into sleep mode then I lose the drive and have to restart etc etc.....anyone suffering same issue. The Ext Drive worked perfectly until the upgrade..

Thanks for this, and apologies for delay in replying...in between seeing your post I backed up the ext hdd to another mac and used the disc utility to erase and repair and then re mounted the ext hdd. OK. I have then tested the ext hdd being recognised when waking from sleep mode a few times and everything appears to be fine. If this doesn't work (long term) I will follow the instructions as you have suggested....
I now have a new problem with my HP printer (Photosmart Plus) which is not being recognised by a new wireless router..Ok whilst the router is switch on and I have reconfigured the printer..but when the router is switched off overnight and then switched back on...I get a 'printer is not connected' message and have to go through the re configure routine all over. I am minded to think this is a router problem as the same issue is happening to my wifes Mac Book Pro (which is only a few weeks old)...any suggestions..

hi. i tried to run the DisplayModeTest.java file in the Full-Screen Mode Tutorial, and i got this exception:

the solution was to use WinXP :) more seriously, i got an email from a Java developer yesterday and he told me that there is a bug they have to fix, and for now it won't work if you dont have DirectX (>= 8.1 ?), full-hardware acceleration (for the video card) and who knows, maybe some other requirements. try running the program with
java -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true <class>this makes Java avoid using DDraw -- should make the program slower, but runnable...
i have another problem though: cannot run it on a RedHat Linux 9. apparently, isFullScreenSupported() returns false, but this is bullshit, because i have other (non-Java) programs that use exclusive full-screen mode (mplayer, for example). anyone knows how to make it work? thanks.
