Switching from At&t to Verizon - Absolutely horrible experience

I have been an At&t customer for 2 years and decided to switch to Verizon on August 16th. I ordered Droidx through Verizon store and the guy entered the wrong address. The phone was not delivered and sent back to the warehouse. Now, I already started receiving bills even though I dont have the phone. After going to the store many times and fighting on phone with Verizon support they decided to credit the bill. Now, to get Droidx I was asked to pay 350 again as they said the money would be credited back to my account immediately as soon as the phone is received by the warehouse.
Today I called up Verizon support and they informed me that they would send a cheque. The problem with support and the  {word filter avoidance} verizon store is they keep giving me the wrong information. I am still paying money to At&t because of this mistake. In the end, I am losing money and time. Here is what i feel about verizon: At&t are openly shameless about the fact that they have poor customer support while Verizon shows that it has good customer support but in reality they are worse than At&t. I regret the decision to switch and I wish someone could fix these issues.

You have 30 days to cancel your Verizon service less a $35 restocking fee and possibly an activation fee on your phone line.  I would reccomend that you do this if you don't like the level of service you're getting from Verizon.
What you are experiencing is basically how they do business, so if that's not satisfactory, they want you to leave.

  • Switched from AT&T to Verizon today, have a question or two

Well, I switched from my iPhone today to a Motorola Droid, and I transferred my phone number from AT&T to Verizon, and I'm curious about a couple of things:
Text messaging isn't working 100% - I can send and receive texts Verizon to Verizon, for example, I can't text my Mom, who's still on AT&T. Is that because it maybe still transferring? Or activating? I can make calls to my Mom, and other friends not on AT&T just fine.
If it is transferring/activating, what's the usual amount of time that it takes?
I've restarted my phone several times, and it hasn't fixed it, fyi.
    Thanks in advance

Make sure that your iPhone is turned off. I have had a problem when i was switching devices on a line on verizon and didnt turn the old device off... but once i turned the old device off then it was resolved.

  • Switched from ATT Bold to Verizon Tour

Does anyone know how many speakers does Tour have? Of course the rep @ verizon was happy to get me, he immediately told me that Tour is upgrade from Bold. So far I do not think so.
    Bold had Wi-fi, Tour doesn't
Bold's speakers were so much louder, I am not even sure Tour has 2 speakers
Bold had a solid steel feeling, Tour is light but plastic
Also I heard Tour has faster processor? is that true? Cause it freezes sometime while I am navigting sometimes.
    Any comments are sincerely appreciated
    Thank you

    Correct, the Bold 9000 -  (624Mhz)
    Tour –  (528Mhz)
But the Tour really is just as snappy as the Bold, I think... the newer processor is the Qualcomm processor and it is no 2nd rate chip.

  • HP officejet Pro 8500A - problem with wireless setup switching from ATT Uverse to Verizon FiOS

I had this all-in-one printer set up and working on wireless through ATT Uverse router in one city.  just moved to another city and got Verizon FiOS.  Now when I try to set up the wireless connection, the printer will connect to the router, but my computer cannot locate the printer.  It gave a 169 IP address which doesn't seem right.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software on my computer, but when going through setup on the computer, it can't find the printer automatically or by me typing in the IP address it shows on the printer.  Not sure what I have done wrong.

  • Is it possible to switch from Verizon Yahoo email account to a basic Verizon.net account?

I have a Verizon Yahoo email account, and have not used it in a while. I recently started using it and realized that I hate the Yahoo portal (garish ads, cluttered interface, etc.).  Does any one know if it is possible to switch to a basic Verizon account. At this point I don't care if it is the classic Webmail or the new Message Center.

Yes.  I did just that a few months back.     You can't do it thru the self-service portal however.
While I don't know if there are different requirements in different states or service areas which may affect who can switch, etc., what I did was use the tech support chat and explained to them that I didn't want the "Yahoo" experience any longer.   Explained I was trying to switch to AOL just to get away from Yahoo but that it wasn't working thru the portal -- but once we started chatting I told them that I really didn't want AOL either -- just wanted the Verizon branded basic experience not a partner one.  Took them about 15 minutes and the first line person had to involve and engineer behind the scenes to make the change, but they got it done without skipping a beat.
If you use a client other than the web client to get your email (like Outlook or Thunderbird or on a mobile device), you will have to reconfigure their POP and SMTP settings afterwards.

  • Switched from Brighthouse to Verizon

Hi, I just switched from Brighthouse to Verizon & my computer is online but my husband's isn't.  Verizon said I needed to change the ESSID # but can't figure out how to do that.  I think we are connected by wireless but aren't positive.  We are using WRT54 GS-7.0.  It's a wireless router.  My husband's linksys says it is connected but can't find an internet connection.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.  Hope I made sense.  Thank You.

Actually it was something really simple.  Just had to wind up hooking the cable up to his computer, couldn't be wireless no more.  Verizon & Linksys made it sound so complicated telling me that we could try this or try that but there was a 50% chance he would never be able to have internet capability again if it didn't work.  Didn't want to take that chance so decided to ask this forum.  Thanks for your suggestion, didn't really understand what you meant so we just played around with it & finally got it.  Thanks again for trying to help.  Laurel

  • I think it was a bad idea switching from ATT to Verizon

So we have been a Verizon customer for 6 days. I started looking into the online billing for my account.
Right off the bat we owe $259.47 without doing anything.
So I look into the billing details. OK so they prorate some expected usage...whatever.
It's the equipment charges that concern me, A LOT, with this "Edge" program.
    It's simple math.
We purchased three phones, but I will focus on one of the Samsung Galaxy 5s devices for sake of discussion.
The price tag at Best Buy said $299 with new plan activation.  Great.  Let's just say $300 to make the math easy.  Again, just to note we were switching from being LONG TIME AT&T customers to Verizon for the first time.
I digress. When I look at the equipment charges, the Edge balance (six days in mind you) is $569.81.  Simple math tells me that $300 does not equal $569.81. So I'm paying way more over the span of 20 months than what the phone was actually priced for at the store. Better yet, the first installment of the 20 installments is $30.81.  So let's see $30.81 x 20 = $616.20.  So I will be paying DOUBLE over the span of 20 months over what the device is actually worth.
    WHY?
    I have this problem x 3 phones.
Would have been cheaper to just buy the phones for $299 and not done the Edge plan.  This isn't much of a deal at all.
Looks like we need to cancel and go back to AT&T ASAP.  This edge program is a huge ripoff.

The prices at Best Buy are not honored at Verizon Wireless.
The Edge Program takes the full price of the devices not any discounted prices.
That would be why you are seeing what you are seeing on your online account details.
Add in taxes and administrative fees per line, insurance if you have it, prorated service and the month in advance makes your invoice higher on the first invoice.
After that you pay the price of your plan plus taxes and fees and that $30.81 per device.

The link above is for the Edge program.
    Good Luck

  • Hi, I have a Powermac with Mavericks and an iPhone 5S. I just recently switched from Verizon with unlimited downloads to limited of 500mb per month. I just purchased a Powerlink Outdoor Plus which is supposed to increase the network range for over 1 mile

Hi, I have a Powermac with Mavericks and a recently purchased iPhone 5S. I just  switched from Verizon with unlimited downloads to limited of 500mb per month, so I purchased a Powerlink Outdoor Plus which is supposed to increase the network range for over 1 mile. I am still getting the same distance range with my iPhone with the Verizon router. I was wondering if I need to make adjustments in the Network Settings. Does anyone know about this particular subject?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Okay, I'll admit I don't know much about your configuration. A standard cellular package for a cellphone means you get your signal from a tower somewhere.  It won't have anything to do with a router which will be a WiFi connection from a router.  If you're talking about that, the Powerlink appears to be a directional antenna.  You should get better transmission/reception in the direction it is pointed, but likely worse in other directions than if you were using an omnidirectional antenna.  I presume you have it all hooked up correctly so the router is actually using the Powerlink antenna.
By the way, those distance ratings are always exaggerated.  Maybe you'd get 1 mile if there was only dry air between you and the antenna and no trees, buildings, etc., and that would probably be just barely getting a signal.  You should see improvement but don't go to a coffeeshop 1 mile away in a city and expect to see your router.  We have a directional antenna on the roof of our house that looks like a satellite dish and I barely pick up the wireless service node a block away (with apartment buildings in between).  Thre may also be a difference between using it to send a signal and receiving a signal.  You might even need two, one at each end, to get 1 mile.

  • Switching From The Original BlackBerry Storm to Droid X

Ordered my phone through Verizon on 8/25. My X is expected to ship by 9/9. Anyone else switch from the BB Storm? If so, what should I expect from the X? Is there a big difference?
FWIW, I absolutely loath the Storm. It's the worst phone I've ever owned. So, I'm expecting/hoping for a lot from the X

My wife and I also went from BB to Droid.  She got the Droid 2 (Came in day after I ordered on the phone) to replace her Curve and I got the X (arrived two weeks later) to replace my Storm 1.  What a difference!  Here's the rundown of what I see different so far (had it for just over a week).
    1. Fast!  Everything is fast.  Browser loads pages several times faster than the Storm.  Scrolling, pinch to zoom, and every other aspect of browsing is amazing in comparison.  I used to dread getting on the web with the Storm and would prefer to wait till I could get to a computer.  Not any more! Switching apps is equally speedy and multitasking is awesome.
    2. Much better memory management.  I had quick pull on my Storm scheduled to reboot every morning and was still getting slow and hourglasses by early evening.  I haven't had to reboot my X yet for slowdown.  I also have tons more apps installed.  I was down to only a few apps on my Storm to free up as much memory as possible.  I just keep downloading more on my X with no problems.
    3. The screen does take a little getting used to.  I was in the habit of letting my finger rest on the screen to keep it on with my Storm.  It can be pretty sensitive for typing as well.  I get a few extra letters here and there but I'm getting better.  (Using swype helps alot).
    4. Did I mention it's fast?
    5. Battery life is about the same.  Except I am still playing with the X alot more.
    6. I wasn't a big business user and already use gmail for my personal email, as well as google calendar.  I had google sync on my Storm so the transition was easy there. My wife does use a pop account for her work email so it is kind of a bummer that it isn't push like the BB, but she's ok with it.  Switched from using BB Messenger to Google Talk with no problems either.  If you have a big list of contacts in BB Messenger, keep an eye on an app called CrossTalk that promises to be able to send BBM messages from Android phones.
    7. Kinda bummed there isn't a unified inbox like on my Storm, but having everything show up in the notification drop down is just as good.
    8. It's fast, even without battery pulls!

  • BEEN TRYING TO SWITCH FROM SKY UNLIMITED TO INFINI...

The grass is not always greener on the other side! Althought it certainly looked that way when I decided to switch provider to take advantage of the BT Sport package.
I ordered the full monty Infinity, Phone, Broadband and TV package and did so via a cashback website. Strangely the next day they created separate order for just a phone install and my cashback track "failed". (saving BT £120). Although I've waited so long now I launched an investigation using my own evidence to Quidco and it was granted again!
My Phone line was switched over pretty quickly (realised later that once your phone line has been switched to BT, to switch back to Sky and use their equipment at the exchange would cost a fee of £50! grrr). So I started to feel a little trapped. But tried to be positive.
Unfortunately nothing else happened. I called BT who initially denied there was any order for anything else. Luckily I keep screen shots/emails + original details of my order much to their embarassment. They apologised but insisted they should put order again immediately on phone. (which would have saved BT more cashback but I said no thanks I will do it online). I tried to cancel everything but here I was told I would have to pay £50 to switch phone line back. The cheek! Trapped.
I got a date 23rd of July for my switch over to Infinity, BT Vision Box arrived, engineer booked in on a 8am-1pm slot. Things were looking positive. Took day off and engineer was late but he did ring me to warn me in his defence. He seemed very competent and knowledgeable. After 5 hours though he said he had to leave and that he couldn't get it working although he thinks he cleared a fault on the line. I'm in IT and had a friend who used to be Openreach engineer. So we discussed in detail the situation.
Obviously I do not know for sure, but appears that my FTTC service was a no go because the local Cabinet had no spare ports only five broken ones (he tried about 3 of these). He said he was not sure when more would be provisioned. (I thought surely in advance they would reserve one or check this!). Imagine ordering a Tesco grocery delivery only for the driver to turn up saying unfortunately they didnt have anything for me.
But asI had been messed about for 6 weeks I thought BT will be straight back tomorrow to fix this. Engineer told me I would get a call next day. Heard nothing. I rang up 2 days later to be told the engineers were "deciding" what to do next. Never got a call back.
Unfortunately thats where I have been ever since. Only yesterday was I promised a new engineer on 14th of July after another two calls I made to India and 40 mins on phone talking to very nice but time consuming operators:
KULJEET FINGH (promised me a call back)
SWATI KUMARI - very helpful and believes she has fixed this.
I have had about 3 missed calls from scottish sounding customer service reps but they do not leave me a number to reach them. When I do call I get the India overflow or level 1 scripted service who don't know anything about the voicemails I received or my previous calls. Each calls takes ages to get through navigation then explain the situation.
So now I am thinking to myself, why oh why should I let them make me wait about another two weeks. I am struggling to find a reason to stick with BT.
Should I give up and give let Sky try and install Fibre?

Well I have an update. I decided to stay as I was so far down the road. They gave me an engineer appointment of 14 of August which was totally disgusting.
I rang up to complain and was promised a call back as they tried to expediate my request. Never happened.
Whilst on these calls I also questioned the validity of sending another engineer unless they first checked that my local cabinet hard an available fibre port. I was promised and promised that they would put the notes on the call and it would not be a wasted engineer visit.
Engineer came today. Wasted visit - no ports on the cabinet.
He was not even sure why he was sent there knowing there were no ports. Talk about the blind leading the blind.
The incompetency of this corporation is absolutely astounding even when their customers are telling them they are going to fail they lie to your face just to appease you on the phone and move you on.
So I ordered my switch from sky to BT on June 6th.. and so far all I have is a phone line.
On top of this I noticed that they have charged me a late payment fee by DD and full line rental for first month. BT were so slow at installing it all that my up front line rental apparently did not cover their initialy switch over. Despite telling me I would not be charged I have been charged.
Now as a web designer I am now tempted to create basic website and use my SEO skills to push it to top of google rankings sharing with everyone of my experience of BT.

  • Unable to find out remaining data from website or My Verizon - anyone else?

For the last few days I have been unable to check data usage from either the Verizon website by logging in or from My Verizon on my phone - it gives a very useless "readout" but there's no way to determine how much data I have.  Guess this has been since the prepaid "system upgrade" a week ago.  Is this the case with everyone and does anyone have ANY idea when this will be resolved?  I just can't face calling customer service.
A work-around is to call #3282 from your prepaid phone - it does tell you remaining data.  I have to assume that it's correct.

I'm in the same boat.  I switched from postpaid to prepaid and it just shows my postpaid acct.  Myverizon app is usless I can't even log in or register with it...

  • Switching from FCP7 to CS6! Two BIG questions I can't figure out...

    Hello!
So I'm running CS6.01 on my new 27" iMac running OS 10.6.8. I'm excited to be transitioning over to CS6 after the last 6 or 7 years using Final Cut Pro. But I don't have time to mess around as I'm in the middle of projects so here are my 2 main questions right off the bat:
First I should say that I edit AVCHD footage shot from Panasonic HMC150's. I shoot Weddings. About 35-40/year. In FCP, my workflow was...shoot EVERYTHING at 720p60 and TRANSCODE it in FCP to ProRes Proxy. Then I'd CONFORM it to 23.98 (using Cinema Tools which takes all of about 30 seconds to do 400 clips) so that it was all in slow-mo looking smooth and beautiful. Then, I'd drop it all on the timeline and edit. Most clips I need in slow-mo but the ones I don't (eg. the Ceremony) I just speed up 250% and it's full speed. Then at the end of editing I'd batch capture and re-transcode to ProRes 422 and I'm done. It all looks great.
    Here's the important thing:
I edit on a 23.98fps timeline that way it maintains a bit of the film-stuttery look instead of the video/soap-opera look of 60fps footage and also it naturally has everything at 40% smooth slow-mo. I dont want that video/soap opera look that I would get if I edited my 60p footage on a 60p timeline! This is important to me.
    1) I know with CS6 I don't "have" to transcode, but I can just ingest and edit the AVCHD files natively, right? Well, okay, but if I do that will dropping those 60p clips on a 23.98fps timeline give me the same look I got when I use to conform the footage first? Specifically is it just as smooth to just change the speed of a 60p clip by 40% and drop it on a 24p timeline? And what about the stuff I want at full speed...if I drop that 60p footage right on the timeline and don't speed it up it will be full speed but will it look the same as my conformed footage looked when sped up in FCP? Please elaborate for me.
    2) Audio. When I bring in audio clips from my 2 cameras each track has 2 separate audio feeds (eg. 2 wireless mics, a shotgun mic, an internal mic). CS6 brings them in on one track. I read up where I need to "Modify the clips" and adjust the Audio Channels so that there are 2 tracks. Then I'm guessing I just make one track the left track and one the right? This seems to work and makes a separate track that is balanced to the center and has each of the 4 channels as its own separate adjustable track. Am I doing that right? And more importantly...my real question...if I'm scrubbing thru the timeline and I double click on one of the audio tracks to bring up the waveform and edit, sometimes it doesn't come up where I stopped in the timeline. Unless the clips are linked. But don't I have to unlink them to edit them individually? So how do I do this where I can be in the timeline, watching the video and when I hear something I want to adjust, I stop the video and quickly access the individual track (eg. one of the wireless mics) to make the adjustments?
Hope my questions make sense. Thanks SO much in advance for all your help! It took me like 20 minutes to figure out how to post a question but now that I've done it I'm very excited that I've got it out there and hopefully I'll get past my current workflow roadblocks. Thank you!!!!!!!

    Jim Simon wrote:
I'd recommend a different work flow.  Shoot what you want at full speed in 720p/24.  Shoot what you want in slow motion at 720p/60...
I would respectfully disagree with Jim's statement and endorse the OP's technique of shooting at 60 fps for purposes of playback at both normal speed and slow motion at 24 fps.
I think the more creative choices you give yourself in post the better.
Since you (DMH79) are using the same footage for both normal speed and slow motion playback, I think your way is definitely the way to go as long as you are happy with the resolution.
Even if you were not using the same clips at different speeds, I would still disagree with the opinion that you should be able to predict in advance which shots from a hectic live action event such as a wedding you will want to use in slow motion. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it would be impossible, no matter how easy it is to switch modes.
Given that slow motion is a reasonable priority for you, I think there is much less to be gained by shooting at 24 fps for clips that you might use at normal speed than by giving yourself the option of both normal speed and slow motion with a 60 fps recording. (To me the bigger tradeoff is not being able to shoot 1080p at 60 fps, which I think applies to your HMC150.)
I love the look of 24p and will shoot that way for scripted work or if I am absolutely certain that I won't want to use a single shot in slow motion, but for many live events, my preference is to shoot at 720p60, shutter angle 180, for eventual output at 30 fps. I edit in a 60 fps timeline in Premiere, but I export at 30 fps. I find that exporting at 30 fps in combination with the 1/120 shutter speed removes much of the soap opera look (a great description, by the way), but there is no jerkiness in normal speed clips because 30 is exactly half of 60. Media Encoder simply removes every other frame during export. Yet, this allows me to drop any clip to 50% speed and achieve perfectly matched, silky smooth slow motion.
You probably prefer the 40% speed slow motion and added stutter of 24 fps, but regardless, if you do find that controlling the speed via Speed/Duration is equal in quality to conforming, you may want to consider cutting in a 60 fps timeline and giving yourself the option to export at either 24 or 30 fps.
Your last post on this topic was from a few months ago. I also switched from FCP7 and would be very curious to know what you have discovered!
