Switching to GoDaddy

I'm publishing my iWeb site to a folder and then I want to upload to my new GoDaddy hosting account (not .Mac). My site is currently hosted on a different Web host (Schogini) and I am using Apple's Mail for my eMail. I transferred my Domain name to GoDaddy as well.
Is Fetch the best way to upload (that's what I've been using, but haven't paid yet and am wondering if there is a fine free alternative)?
How do I switch so I'm receiving mail through GoDaddy instead of Schogini.
Do I just upload my site to GoDaddy and then wait for the Schogini one to expire?
Maybe I should be asking GoDaddy these questions, I just like this Mac community more. Thanks.

You'll need to set up a new mailbox in Apple Mail using the information for your GoDaddy POP3 and SMTP mailserver information.

If you've already paid up in full at Schogini and there is no way to cancel and receive a prorated refund, then it really doesn't matter. Just start using your GoDaddy hosting to get your site up and running.

Godaddy hosting switching question

If I decide to switch to Godaddy for their web hosting services, wil I lose the password feature in iWeb to protect my sites? How can I get around this if I go with Godaddy? Are there any other things I should be aware of that I will lose by going with another hosting service?

I followed suggestions from others to use them and
then was sorely disappointed with the usability of
their admin tools. Unbelievably bad interface.
I'd be curious about the details. Are you mainly talking about their domain management facilities? Or did you have problems putting sites on the server or with server performance? Would your problems apply to someone with just one domain?

GoDaddy IMAP automatically deleting/disappearing emails from Inbox, solved!

We're running a unibody Macbook 13" with Mac OS X 10.5.8, all patches, and Apple Mail 3.6.
When we moved from Earthlink POP to GoDaddy IMAP, we almost immediately started losing emails from the Inbox. They would literally disappear before our eyes.
We checked online, found others with the same problem, and no actual fixes (some workarounds, such as switching to GoDaddy Exchange email).
I called GoDaddy for help today. Aside from the usual run-down: Are you sure it isn't configured as POP? Did you check that any other devices aren't getting the emails as POP?, we finally got a new solution I hadn't heard before:
Turn off Auto Purging.
If you log into GoDaddy Webmail, right-click on the Inbox, and click Auto-Purging, a little setting pane comes up.
If Auto Purging is already turned off, turn it off again anyway, and make sure the little pop-up confirming the setting has been saved comes up in the bottom right corner.
This seems to have fixed the problem. We've gone for about an hour now without the emails disappearing.
What's more, I got lucky and found that the emails had been thrown into the Trash by the Auto Purge feature, so I could retrieve them (some of them disappeared before Time Machine could back them up).
One important possibility: I discovered that I had mapped the Trash folder to Deleted Messages and not to GoDaddy's Trash folder. So I set this to point to GoDaddy's Trash thinking that this might help. It MIGHT have been what fixed the problem, but it's not likely.
A few other notes to help you guys:
1) We weren't losing emails from any IMAP folder except the Inbox.
2) I tried setting the IMAP folder path to / but that broke the subfolders.
3) After turning off the Auto-Purge and dragging the deleted emails back into the Inbox from the Trash (using Apple Mail to do so), there were duplicates of these emails in the GoDaddy Webmail Inbox that did not show in the Apple Mail Inbox.
4) Using other mail clients like Thunderbird didn't help. The iPad and iPhone would eventually lose the emails too as everything sync'd up with the server.

I've had the same problem... As with MOST of the e-mail problems with the PRE the best solution is to delete the account and reload it... I've had to delete and add my account twice!!!
PALM better fix the e-mail functions or a lot of people (my self included) will get real fed up deleting and adding the account every two weeks...

IWeb / GoDaddy issues...

After MMe went (tear...) I've switched to GoDaddy for hosting as they keep my domain, and I thought it'd be easier....
Yet, after publishing my site I'm noticing a few big issues...
1. It takes ages to upload my site (www.cliftonparkavenuebaptist.com) like nearly 2hrs.
2. When I get to about 95% there is a connection error with the server and it stops. What happens then is that two or three audio files haven't transferred over and are 'red' on the sidebar.
3. When I quit iWeb and restart - every page on the sidebar is 'red' and I need to upload the whole site again.
My page is up which is something, but to spend this length of time, each time, for even the smallest change is ridiculous.
Any ideas, help would be greatly appreciated!

Have a look at the audio file names to make sure that they have no spaces or special characters in them.

Animated gif only plays one time??

An animated gif created in Photoshop and exported with 'loop forever' output only loops once on my home page. I have not resized, cropped it or added any effects but as it plays once Muse can't have rasterized it.
I am using adobe muse cc 7.1 build 329, OSX 10.9

Thanks, I just tried it directly in the browser and it works fine. When previewing in the finder window on my desktop it works fine as well.
I have had animated gifs working fine previously on the same muse site as a browser fill and as buttons.
Nothing has changed about the way I make the animation but these are some variables that have changed:
- update Operating System from OSX 10.8 to 10.9
- udate to current muse version
- switch from Godaddy - wordpress hosting to Adobe Business Catalyst
- upload via 'publish' within muse rather than via 'upload to FTP host' within muse.

How do you get e-mail on your iPhone through webmail powered by Horde?

We recently had our website redesigned and when that was done our e-mail switched from GoDaddy to webmail powered by Horde. Since the change, I have not been able to get our mail correctly on my iPhone 4 and iPad. Things worked perfectly with GoDaddy, but has not worked at all since the change. I am using Entourage on our MacBook Pro with the webmail, and it is working fine. Any suggestions on how the issue with the iPhone and iPad can be fixed?

I was able to finally get it set up by using IMAP, changing the outgoing server port, and leaving the "optional" sections blank.
Incoming:
Host name: mail.domain.com
User name: [email protected]
Password: entered password
Outgoing
Host name: mail.domain.com
User name (optional): left blank
Password (optional): left blank
Use SSL: Off

What type of server should I buy?

I currently have a Windows SBS 2003 server. I am a health care provider with 25 computers. We have used an application that has been a DOS based program for years. We are getting ready to convert over to a cloud based practice management
system. We will still need to run our DOS based program for at least two years. The DOS program runs on a 32bit not a 64 bit. We have 8 computers running XP. So I have asked my local IT guy of 20 years what he thinks we should
go to next. I also got a quote from a different IT company. Of course they are recommending two different things I do not know what I should do.
My local guy wants to install 8 new computers with windows 8 (which my boss does not want) and all my other13 computers have Windows 7 Professional. Then he wants to install for my server SBS 2011 Standard for emailing we would use Exchange 2010.
The SBS 2003 server is an exchange server but he never set up the email portion.
This other IT company wants to install windows server 2012 standard edition R2and he would install Vmware esx 5.5 virtual server platform so that I can have 1 computer in my office that would run an Opto 32 bit server and then use a
different "server" to run my new practice management system which is a cloud based system. Plus file share anything else I want to setup. Then he wants to install Windows 7 pro on the new 8 workstaions that we need.
The quotes are about the same but I feel that I am getting more for my money with the new guy and the ability to grow. As well as maybe better security and reliability. HIPAA wants your system to have bitlocker disk encryption software. Not sure which
system has that.
Please advise I know very little about computers so when my IT guy talks he wants to talk me out of the virtual platform and I think it is because he doesn't have that much experience with the set up. Virtual server is not a hosted virtual server.

Seems like digicert ucc certificate is costly. Earlier I used them for a year then switched to Godaddy. Its time for renewal as godaddy certificate expires in few days. Recently one of my customer referred me this cheaper price UCC certificate

I checked list of recommended certificate authorities by Microsoft and comodo is there, so I don't have any question about compatibility. I found this ssl2buy is comodo reseller and offer ucc certificate just for $45 discount price (regular price is $60).
I reviewed this reseller reputation and it seems good and also contacted their live support and seems everything legit.
I tried their product and it seems 100% compatible in exchange environment. I used .local domain names to add in UCC certificate but later I recognized (advised by their support team) that CA/B forum depreciated .local names in SSL.
Do you recommend we should stop accessing server with .local and hostname?

Seeking hosting/reg alternative to....

I'm seriously considering switching from Godaddy to another hosting/reg company. I've used Godaddy for years and liked their pricing and simple registration process but I'm looking for a few more meaningful features.
Can anyone refer me to any reg/hosting companies where they have been around awhile and offer good service & features?

Issues with "go daddy" email

I'm setting up do daddy email on my iPad, I can receive and even send email, but I can't get the curser into the subject line or into the body of the text? The settings appear to be correct. Anyone have any ideas?

Just trying to see if others have the same issue and what they did to resolve it - besides ditching godaddy and finding someone else, which I will do at a last resort. I never had these problems with Cox, but Cox does not support IMAP, so I switched to GoDaddy because they do. Been having sporadic problems ever since.

I have iWeb '08 and just switched from Mobileme to GoDaddy and using Filezilla. Now when I make changes through iWeb it doesn't actually publish to my desktop folder. In fact, it doesn't publish at all but says that it did.

What's the format of your video? That will give you a hint as to what plugin is failing (or missing).
If you don't know, what's the URL of your site - it shouldn't take long for someone to work out the specifics.

I made a new home page, since my old home page had seemingly unfixable problems, and I would like to switch now, on GoDaddy. How to switch?

Should I simply delete the old page and then name the new page what the old page was named? Will I need to do things inside of GoDaddy?

You can update your site from Muse either with all files selection or only modified files.
So you can select modified files if you want only change with specific pages.

Firefox diverts most new windows to tabs, but there is an exception when a website uses a script to specify the window's dimensions or removes some toolbars. To remove the exception, you can make a change under the covers. This could be awkward for genuine dialog windows that don't make sense to view in a separate tab, but if you find it more annoying than useful, you can easily switch back.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(3) Confirm that the '''browser.link.open_newwindow''' preference is set to its default value of 3 (divert new windows to a tab instead), or right-click > Reset to get that value
(4) Double-click the '''browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction''' preference and change the value from 2 to 0 (that's a zero) and click OK

0 = apply the setting under (A) to ALL new windows (even script windows)
2 = apply the setting under (A) to normal windows, but NOT to script windows with features (default)
1 = override the setting under (A) and always use new windows
(C) browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external - for links in other programs
-1 = apply the setting under (A) to external links (default)
3 = open external links in a new tab in the last active window
2 = open external links in a new window
1 = open external links in the last active tab replacing the current page
