SxS card plug in

I have Final Cut 6.0.6 and am looking for a plug in that will let me import footage from xdcam that has already been delivered into files on a drive for me. Is there such a thing as an SxS card plug in?

if the files are still in their native camera format and full original file structure then you can use Sony's free XDCAM Transfer app to import and rewrap the clips as quicktime movie files ... if you have the MP4 media files only then you can buy and use Calibrated Software's MP4-EX Import tool : http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/MP4EXImport_Mac.asp

Exporting XDCAM from Premiere CC2014 to SxS Card

Hi There,
I am Running Adobe Premiere CC 2014 with My Sony PMW-500
Occasionally I need to master my edit to an SXS card.
I export an MXF OP1a from the time line with the settings relevant to my camera.
I then open Content browser and select the SxS card.
I then Select import and then select the newly created MXF stream.
All this writes perfectly but unfortunately it creates a ‘XDCAM ROOT’ file system which my PMW 500 can’t read.
Ive looked in all the preferences of content browser but can’t see anything that will give me anything different.
Do i need to firmware update my PMW 500 so it can read XDCAM ROOT folders?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm- wouldn't it make much more sense to get a proper video I/O device for your Mac and send finished projects out direct from FCP X that way? Basically you're using your camera for that now and losing a ton of time & quality for not much gain. Check out the T-Tap from AJA: does precisely what you most likely need and is super cheap:

How to export from FCX to SxS card reader?

I am on a production team for a hockey broadcast. We need a way to export our projects from FCX onto an SxS card reader so that we can get our highlights and other packages into our trailer.
We need to Export as Xdcam with MXF with Mp4 wrapped into it.

Walt: If I'm correct in understanding that the question is how to copy pictures onto the card when the frame can't be connected to the Mac, the solution is a $10 USB card reader. Remove the card from the frame, insert it in the reader, connect it to the Mac, and copy the pix from that folder Terence has advised you to export them to. Then return the card to the frame.

SxS card won't appear on desktop

I have a number of 17" MacBook Pros and can use SxS cards to import XDCAM video on one of them. The installed software on the one that works is XDCAM Transfer 2.7.1 and XDCAM EX Clip Browser 2.00.00. On the non-working laptops the clip browser software is version 2.00.01 and they are also the year newer unibody models.
When the SxS cards are inserted, they simply don't appear on the desktop. I'm assuming something needs to be updated but I don't know what. I also don't find a place where I can get help from Sony so any help from here would be appreciated.

You need the (free) Sony Application XDCAM Browser (or XDCAM Transfer) to re-wrap the files from your SxS cards for use in any Editing Application.

Adobe Bridge Auto-Start when Flash Card plugged in

If this is the wrong forum, my appoligies....
I am using Adobe Photoshop CS2 with Max OS X 10.4.8 on a PowerBook. When I plug in a flash card reader (with a card) than Adobe Bridge automatically starts and this is not what I want - I just want to open the Finder.
I have searched through all the preferences I can think of and can't find anything relavent.
I have had Photoshop Elements and Adobe Lightroom installed at various times but they are all currently uninstalled.
This is a real aggrivation. Can anyone shed any light on the problem?

In that case, try going to your user>library>Application Support>Adobe>bridge folder and move Adobe Bridge Opener Preferences.xml to the trash. Does that help? (Don't empty the trash, because if it doesn't do anything, you might as well put it back again.)

MacBook Pro (Unibody) with Sony XDCAM EX-3 SxS card does not work !

Having bought my 2nd MacBook Pro now with intel chips etc. I was horrified to discover that when I downloaded the XDCAM EX : SxS PRO Device Driver (Mac V1.0.1807) it screwed up the MacBook Pro by taking 10-15mins to get to the desk top. I called a friend who bought the last version of MacBook Pro and it works fine. So where do I go from here.

I just got off the phone with Sony Tech Support and here's what I found out.
-yes they are absolutely aware of the problem (yay!)
-there are conflicts with the SxS driver and the new trackpad driver (hence the loss of some multi-finger gestures and general system sluggishness)
- they're writing a new version now. beta should be next week. then a 1.1 release "2-3 weeks from there"
-the new drivers should be announced on the website sony.com/xdcam under the software section
when I had the driver installed, it did allow me to view the clips on an inserted card. so basically we just need to bear with this for a little while so Sony can fix things. The guy on the phone was incredibly helpful and obviously knew what he was talking about, couldn't thank him enough.

Capture card plug-in

My company has developed a H.264 HD capture card and I would like to support it in Adobe Premiere Elements 8/9 (PE).
I have a few questions that I hope you can help answer :
1.     Which SDK should I use for the plug-in ?
2.     The card supports only compressed streams, meaning it has to be decoded in PE for preview. Is this type of use case supported ?
3.     What type of plug-in/plug-ins will I need to develop ? Are there examples ?

Basically you should build a WDM filter. It exposes itself as a DirectShow pin which the user can join to.
For capture that would be your "WDM Filter"-> FileOut Filter
For preview (sorry doesn't look like you can do it at the same time unless there is a "Duplicator filter".. Anyhow for preview you would join the "WDM Filter" -> "h264 Decode Filter" -> "Display Filter".

Zac, can you confirm that he should:
     Step 1: make a WDM Filter
     Step 2: use the generic Capture Recoder from Prem PE to attach to the now standard capture device.
Or... does he need to explicitly code for his filter connected to the Win7 h264 Decoder then into Prem PE.
I'm interested to understand how this works. Please keep us up to date with your progress.

MSI A88XM GAMING | Can't boot with new PCI-e x1 card plugged in

Hi,
I'm a owner to an MSI A88XM GAMING motherboard and I purchased a AverMedia Live Gamer HD card last week. After unboxing and installing the card to one of my PCI-e x1 slots the computer won't boot. All what happends is what the fans starts and the power LED turns on, but that's all. No beeps or anything.
I know for sure what the AverMedia Live Gamer HD card is working just fine, as I've already tested it on my old computer. I've also tested if it might have been a power issue, by disconnected everything and running it on a towel outside the case, still the same result. Connecting it to any of the other 3 PCI-e ports gives the same result. All the PSU cables are properly connected and the motherboard has the latest BIOS version on it.
Is there any way to get it to work on my computer? I would really like to avoid switching motherboard is possible. Using a 2:nd computer is also not an option, as I want to be able to just take it with me without any issues.

I've contacted the AverMedia Support, hopefully they should be able to find the issue. It's possible what it might be a firmware related issue.
I've also searched around on the XSplit forum if there's anyone else what have run into the same problem. But couldn't find anything, so I made a thread and asked directly instead. I got a reply from someone on the Support Staff, but he couldn't find anything either.

How did the photos get onto the SD card that you are using ? Photos (and videos) on the card will only be recognised if the card has a DCIM directory off the root of it, and the photos are underneath that directory and their filenames are exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus their file extension (that should be how most digital cameras write photos to a card).

Richard, 945GM2 doesn't have AGP bus anymore. It's PCIe.
However, it's a chipset "feature" that if you had a PCIe external display card hooked on, the chipset will disable the integrated graphics. There is no workaround.

T440s 1802 Unauthorized network card plug in...

I bought a refurbished T440s with a rtl8192 wifi card. It doesn't work for my linux OS so I tried to replace it with Intel 7260.

It looks like that should work. Are you running the latest BIOS? It's possible (maybe) that the card was added to the whitelist in a BIOS update.
Otherwise you will probably need to contact the card seller about this.

SXS Card Glitch

I've been editing xdcam for several months now with no problems. Yesterday I am trying to import several different cards with raw footage on them. The footage plays fine in the browser but when I import it there are several glitches. I have tried reloading, running diskwarrior, trashing preferences, starting a new project but nothing seems it still loads with the glitch. I did get one on the cards to load w/o the glitch last night but am not having any luck with the others. Can anyone please help me?

I'm wondering what format you recorded? Selecting any HQ NTSC record setting using an 8 gig card I can only record 28 minutes, selecting any SP NTSC record setting I can record 39 minutes using an 8 gig card. OK I just recorded 35:11.5 minutes on an 8 gig card recording SP 1080 24p, after opening the XD cam transfer program on my MBP using the PCI express slot I have one clip "AAAA0001.smi in the viewer that is 35 minutes long. Down in the Information & Logging window within the subclip submenu you will see a check box for the AAAA0001.smi clip and two more clips underneath that will read part1 AAAA0001_1.mp2 and part2 AAAA0001_2.mp2 that need to be checked manually. In my test here I had no issues.
