Symbols on iPad

Does anybody know how to make the ` symbol (its on the same key as the ~ on a normal apple keyboard) on an iPad? Its not on the regular keyboard obviously but its also not on the 123 keyboard or on the #+= keyboards. I pushed and held the regular apostrophe key and it gave me a couple options and none of those work either. Any ideas?

I remember this has been a problem on the iphone and ipod touch (for passwords), but don't know whether it was ever fixed. If not, copy/paste from something else might be the only way. There are some apps that let you copy/paste any unicode character. ` is U+060 grave accent.

Are you using the virtual keyboard to input your password and you cannot see/find the characters you need on that keyboard?
Or are you trying to use a bluetooth keyboard and pressing the printed key does not produce the right character?

Glitchs like that sometimes happen
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If sit still reocurrs a lot, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

After a backup, clicked on upgrade IOS via Itunes. Upgrade failed and now IPAD is locked, showing a graphic of a cable connector, an arrow and an Itunes symbol. Ipad is locked there. How to restore IPAD?

Upgrade my IPAD from 8.1.3 to 8.2 via Itunes (from Windows Computer)
First I backed up the IPAD via Itunes on my Windows laptop.
Then I click upgrade IOS to 8.2 on Itunes.
Later got a upgrade failure pop up window.
Now IPAD is locked with a blank screen showing a cable connector and an arrow pointing to Itunes symbol.
The IPAD does not boot, and the Itunes does not recognize the IPAD.
turning on/off the IPAD does not change the display.
How to restore or reboot the IPAD?

I rebooted the computer and tried once again using a different USP port. This did the trick!. I was able to run the IOS update and it stuck and timed out while the Itunes was indicating that it was verifying the IOS installation (on ipad I could see a grayed working bar). After it timed out the IPAD completed the task, and now it is working again.

Hi I am tryibg to download several apps on my Ipad but the waiting to install symbol is on each of the aps and has been for a long time overnight how do I delete them and try again? When pressing the delete they do not have the X option to do so?

Try the following:
1. Turn iPad off and on again
2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo
3. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
4. Use iTune (computer) to update/download and sync to iPad

I don't see a checkmark on the touchscreen keyboard, even by holding down on the keys to bring up the optional symbols. You can go here and copy and paste. You have to go onto this site while using the iPad. You could bookmark it for easier access.

The keys on the sides of the space bar will shift the keys to a different set of characters. Pressing the ".?123" key takes you to another layout. On that layout the "#+=" key will shift to another set of characters. Between those 3 layouts you should have access to all of the symbols printed on a regular keyboard. You might want to check your keyboard and international settings in the Settings app if you think that may be an issue. If you are using key combinations to get symbols that are not printed on the physical keyboard, let us know so we can see if there is a way to generate the character/code on the iPad keyboard.

Insert symbols with iPad keyboard

Does anyone know how to insert symbols such as a happy face or a heart using the iPad screen keyboard?

Actually you can add a few with the iPad keyboard that I know of
the happy face by typing
- the colon symbol : and the close parentheses symbol )
the frowny face by typing
- the colon symbol : and the start parentheses symbol (
the winky face by typing
- the semi-colon symbol ; and the close parentheses symbol )
These are the only ones I could figure out just by using the iPad keyboard. You do have to remember to put a space before you type one of the symbols or you end up with something like this:)
With a space in place typing the same two characters you get . I hit the space bar after I typed the word "get" in the previous sentence and then typed the colon symbol and parentheses symbol with no space in between those two symbols.

On the keyboard tap on the numbers key then tap and hold the o then slide up to the displayed symbol to get the degree symbol.

IPad 1 charging logo showing but not charging

My father has an original iPad, it had about 10% battery power when he plugged it in to the mains using the standard 10W power supply, the battery seemed to drain to nothing and now it doesnt turn on but shows the red battery icon with the charging symbol, the iPad itself wont turn on at all. It has been on charge for about an hour and still the same, I have charged it with other plugs, leads and plugged into my MacBook Air - still nothing, any ideas? many thanks in advance for your help.

The MacBook Air is probably not capable of charging the iPad.
Try taking in to an Apple Store for evaluation.
The problem could be with your 10W charger or the iPad or, possibly, a bad cable.

HT4623 iOS upgrade has killed my iPad, it won't start anymore.

I just accepted the iOS 7.0.2 upgrade and my iPad has died. All I get is an iTunes logo mid screen with plug/lead graphic and an arrow pointing to the logo.
I've tried all the buttons and even tried a reset, holding both down for 10 seconds, but it's as dead as a Dodo. I'm really wishing I hadn't agreed to this upgrade, can anyone help please?

I know the symbol means it's required for the upgrade to complete it needs to be hooked into iTunes to have it send off information. The computer must be connected to the internet and upon seeing that symbol the iPad has to be connected to the computer. If that doesn't work what I was honestly do is set the iPad down and let it kill its own battery and then the next day plug it in to the computer and listen to it for the sound of a connected device and let it power itself on. If those don't work then you will have to take it to an Apple Store to have it unlocked.
@Custom17 I would have been able to answer that for you, or at least give you the same answer they're going to give you. The reason it "jumps" all over the place has to do with the spatial effects built into the iOS. When the lockscreen is on and you tilt the phone you should see the lockscreen moving (I found the factory "Starry Sky" lock screen is the best example of this. The operating system works with layers building on it so it can manage the different applications going, think wedding cake, so something happening in the background or a wallpaper that doesn't agree with the OS is going to cause little jerks like that. The black square can also be attributed to this, and both issues should be fixed quickly we all hope.

Please anyone tell me how to write the new rupee symbol in iPad.I am using the default system keyboard iOS 5.1.

Type Rupee symbol ₹ in iPhone.
1. Go to settings > general > keyboard.
2. Select keyboards > add new keyboard > Hindi
3. Now go back to keyboard.
4. (Scroll down) Add new shortcut.
5.. In "Phrase" press long "$" and select "₹".
6. In "Shortcut" type "Rs" and save it.
4. Now you can remove the hindi keyboard.
and whenever you type "Rs" it will automatically change to "₹".

Ipad 2 - After update to 4.3.x dead

Hello,
I had the ipad now for a few hours, after connecting it to iTunes it told me that there is a new update.
Ok, donwloaded it and it couldnt be installed. Now I only see the cable and iTunes symbols.
Ipad is not recogniezed by iTunes. Tried the "reset" (holding power and home button) but nothing is happening.
What can I do?

i tryed restore and reseting, no succses, still i can not take pics, it does not offer that option to me.
even on snapture is the same problem, "Still Camerea Required" very upsetting.
i hope ther is somewone to help me.
