Synchronizing table to View in a Mapping.

Hi All,
I am trying to replace my table operators within all of my mappings to their corresponding views.
If I do it from GUI it syncronizes/reconciles well, but I want to do it for all of the table operators in all of the mapping, that's why I tried doing the same through OMBPlus commands OMBSYNC/OMBRECON.. But while doing this I am recieving an error stating that target component is incompatible with the source.
Any Ideas?

Hi,
If I'm correct the document you refer to is using an table object and not a dimension as a target.
Technically it will work because you don't need the dimension information. But there are some steps you have to do to get it working.
1. Create an Unbounded table which is exactly the same as the dimension. (You can use the dimension as a source and delete it afterwards.)
2. Now you can create the MATCHING column.
3. In the properties set the bound name of the table to the dimension.
4. In the properties of the MATCHING column set the bound name to the primary key of the dimension.
In this way the Slowly Dimension Type 2 mapping will work.

    i have a target source 'U_BCK' that cointains some Oracle table.
    I have also created a target schema 'BCK_OWNER' where i create some dimensions and cubes with mappings.
    My mappings connect some table from U_BCK with dimension or cube from BCK_OWNER.
    My repository owner is called 'rep_owner' and i used this user to create every metadata.
    Now i'm trying to deploy, and i don't have any problem until deploying mappings. When i try to deploy mappings i get some errors like ora-06550,ora-00942 table or view does not exist and statement ignored.
    Please help me and sorry for my english...

    The mapping, that drives the data from one table to another is deployed to the database as a PL/SQL package. When deploying your mapping fails, it most often means that the resulting PL/SQL package doesn't compile in the database.
    Using Oracle SQL Developer (or Toad, SQL Navigator or any other tool) connect to the schema on the database where you have deployed the mapping. Open the pl/sql package and compile it. That should show you the place where the compilation fails, and give you an idea as to what table it can not find. Otherwise, in SQLPLUS, you can simply give the following command:
    ALTER PACKAGE THE_PACKAGE_NAME_GOES_HERE compile body;
    show errors;
    As the database user who owns the source tables, make sure to issue a GRANT command for each of the source tables, granting SELECT access to the database user who owns the mapping:
    grant select on TABLENAME to TARGETSCHEMA.

    I'm having yet another problem with OWB, this time when I try to deploy a mapping I get this error:

    Where AYADEV_LOCATION points to the module/schema/location where my source data is.
    Now, I have defined three modules:
    SOURCE, where I defined the tables and other objects from the original database (source data)
    STAGE, where I am performing all the transformations; here I defined all the maps
    TARGET, this holds the dimensions and fact tables.
    Now all three modules point to different databases. The dblink for AYADEV_LOCATION has been created and shouldn't present any problems. The username that I'm using to log on to the source database is current and I can connect to it through SQL+ or any other program (TOAD, SQLDeveloper).
    What could be happening here? I'm using OWB 10g R2, with Oracle DB 10g R2.
    I'd really appreciate any help you could provide.

    Hi,
    I'm still having problems but I found out why these tables are returning errors. The username I've been given by the DBA to connect to the database is CONSULTA, but this user is only for querying purposes, the actual objects reside on a differente schema, of course, which is PROD. So the line:
    "CONSULTA"."ESTADOS"@"PROD@AYADEV_LOCATION" "ESTADOS"
    raises an exception because the table ESTADOS is not located on that schema, but on PROD. If I query the table from SQL Plus with:
    SELECT *
    FROM [email protected]@AYADEV_LOCATION
    then there's no problem at all.
    Why is this? How do I instruct OWB to point to the correct schema or to avoind fully qualifying the table name?
    Please help me, I'm kind of confused here.

  • Table or view doesn't exist when deploying a mapping

    Hello,
    OWB and BI in general is new for me. I have read the tutorials but I have a problem and I don't understand how to solve it :
    I have 2 databases in 2 different services :
    - dbsrc (where I have tabsrc with 2 columns)
    - dbtarget (where I have tabtarget with 1 column)
    OWB connect correctly to dbsrc
    I have made a mapping between dbsrc and dbtarget and I have just joined the second column of dbsrc with the unique column of dbtarget.
    All the steps before deploying are ok but when I deployed I have a warning saying that table or view doesn't exist.
    I have used the debugger and it seems that owb searches dbsrc in the service dbtarget ... I have copied my table from dbsrc to dbtarget and in this case the deployement and the execution of the mapping runs correctly.
    What I'm doing wrong ? Why OWB isn't able to see that my table source is in another database/services ?

    Hi,
    In design center, you need two oracle dbs: one as data source (with a location pointing to you src db) and one as dwh target (with a location pointing to your target db).
    Your mapping has to be in the target db. In the mapping, you use the target table from the target db and the source table from the source db.
    When you deploy the mapping using control center manager, owb will create a database link for you from the target to the source db. The mapping will read the data through that database link and write it into the target table.

    or you can make all column primary key .Anybody seriously considering that as a good idea should understand the implications:
    1. this requires that each row be unique - that's a minor issue normally, but can be a significant problem in some cases
    2. in practically all databases, a primary key constraint creates a unique index - this has many implications:
    a) in most databases, the index stores a copy of the column data that is indexed - this suggestion therefore more than doubles the data storage required for the data
    b) whenever an indexed column is changed, the index has to be maintained - this suggestion then more than doubles the work that each UPDATE statement has to do, since both the table and the index have to be maintained for any UPDATE at all
    This might work OK for toy projects, but it doesn't scale well at all...

  • 500 - Internal Server Error - Table or View does not Exist

    When trying to use the sample restful service oracle.example.hr I get a 500 - Internal Server Error.
    I have no clue what to do next. I've even tried granting public to the emp table.  Nottin.

    May be the default parsing schema in your Apex workspace cannot access table EMP. Try and qualify table EMP and grant access from containing schema to Apex parsing schema. Hope being helpful, regards.

    I am new to this field, I am getting error when I run my workflow in other folder, It is giving table or view does not exist, And I understood that the target table is not present,
    Actual table present is ws_twfs_olb_project_ds but in the session log it is showing wc_twfs_olb_project_ds1. I don't know why in the session log it is showing like that.
    Might be the problem occured during the importing session. If so, Can you please provide me how to resolve this issue.

    wc_twfs_olb_project_ds1 is an alias table and used in Informatica mapping to do self join(specifically in order to query different column multiple times).
    Ideally you sholud be checking the wc_twfs_olb_project_ds in the OLAP schema.Try connecting to OLAP scheam by toad or SQL*PLUS and let me know if you are able to view this table or not?..

  • ORA-00903: Invalid table name - running Set based mapping

    Hello,
    Using OWB 10.2.04.36 and have created a mapping which reads data from Non-Oracle, ODBC source table, actually a worksheet in an Excel workbook which has been defined/set up using the Heterogeneous Service components.
    I can view the data in the worksheet using the Design Center, Data Object Editor, Data Viewer tab so I know the data is accessible.
    The mapping is performing a Loading Type: INSERT/UPDATE into a View which has an INSTEAD OF INSERT OR UPDATE OR DELETE ON view.
    The mapping validates okay and is deployed successfully.
    Yet when it is run in "Set based" Operating Mode from Control Center Manager the Execution Results show an "ORA-00903: Invalid table name" error is raised.
    You cannot run the mapping in any Row based operating mode as Row based running fails with "ORA:22816: Unsupported feature with RETURNING clause" due to the generated code for the INSERT/UPDATE of the view using a RETURNING clause which is actioned on an INSTEAD OF trigger.
    Looking at the generated package code I can strip out the SELECT statement from the MERGE statement for the alias "MERGE_SUBQUERY" and it runs and displays the expected result, however when the complete MERGE statement is taken and run I get the same ORA-00903 error that was reported in Control Center Manager.
    Any ideas what the problem could be? I have another mapping that reads from the same source Excel workbook/worksheet and INSERT/UPDATE into a table without an INSTEAD OF trigger, this mapping deploys, runs successfully so the issue seems to be with the INSERT/UPDATE into the view. The views are what we require to be populated.

    But changing V_EMP_DEPT to EMP is not INSERTING/UPDATING to the view V_EMP_DEPT, what you propose is INSERTING/UPDATING into the table EMP. The code was only an example showing that the MERGE does not work when INSERTING/UPDATING into a view based on joining tables.     I have tree simple mappings each one with only one dimention and sometimes external or normal tables. One of them is ok but I can´t deploy the others.
    In Controle Center I have this messege: the table or view does not exist.
    I genereted both queries and run in SQL navigator with the same message.
    I realized that I can set the schema properties for external tables but I couldn´t do the same for Dimension (or I don´t know where I can do this).
    I believe that I have to set this propertie for dimension to have my mapping running ok, but I realized that the only one mapping that is ok does not have this propertie set.
    Where is the problem?!!?!?!?
    I validated these mapping and they have warnnings about column length, no errors.
    In the previous OWB version I used to set this propertie, but in 10.2 I don´t know if is realy necessary.

    Try to open the package body with a tool like TOAD and try to compile it. When you use TOAD the process stops where the error is. Then you know which table or view doesn't exist for the OWB. If the table or view does exist then it is almost certainly a missing privilege that prevents you from succesfully deploying your mapping. If the table or view does not exist then you've got to deploy the underlying (bound) table.

  • MapCache - table or view don´t exist

    I´m trying to use Oracle Map Cache using mvdemo data. I just uncommented the <map_cache_server> in mapViewerCinfog.xml.
    When I restart the mapviewer, appears some ORA-00942 ERROR, indicating that a table or view don´t exists.
    In the HTML page, using Mozilla, appears a gray box, not a map.
    Some suggestion?

    as system
    Each database user (schema) so has quasi its 'own' USER_SDO_CACHED_MAPS view (8-12 mapviewer_11ea1_ug.pdf)

  • Table or view does not exist when using in PL/SQL block

    I hav something strange...
    When i execute a query it works just fine... When i use the exact same query in a function i want to create, i get the error 'table or view does not exist'
    I create the function with the same user then when i'm executing the query.
    For example:
    select name,userid from portal.WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOGS
    if i execute this... it works fine. I get my results.
    However when i create a function:

    I tryed with cursor, select into, for x in (select....)
    Nothing works.
    A select grant is a select grant right? Are there different grant you should use so you can select it into a function or just do a normal select?
    I also tryed to create a view that just sais select * from WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOGS but that doesn't work...
