Syncing calendar issues

Hey guys! I was hoping someone out there can help me with syncing my MS Outlook - I saw a post from mid October that recommended buying ipod-sync software on line which I did, only when I try to sync with calendar I get an error that says something like "Cannot update calendar on myIPOD" with a click ok and that is the only option. Good news! my error -50 went away, bad news, still no calendar.
I do have the sync with outlook checked in the calendar tab. Contacts and pictures and all else is well. Ideas?

I have had my Nano for over a month now and have never been able to sync with my calendar in Outlook- all else worked until the 6.0 software push, then all went to heck, it took over a week to recover from that install. Since one of the reasons I upgraded from a shuffle to a Nano was so that I could also ditch my PDA (contacts, calendar, to do list) I was very disapointed when the calendar and to do list did not work.
The software works outside (as a stand alone) of iTunes, in essence, syncs when I tell it to without iTunes. The work around is good for me given that iTunes hasn't helped with my issue. I found the website from a disscussion that happened somewhere around the middle of October. It seems that I am not the only one who has had these issues.
Hope that helps, and by the way I am really thankfull for this discussion board and your inputs as you have saved the day on numerous occasions (not just Hawk, all of you!)

  • HT1386 iPhone Syncing Calendar issues...

    Hi All,
I've had a recent problem in that my iPhone 4S seemingly 'lost' a load of my Calendar entries. I checked that all the Calendars where being synced by selecting 'All calendars' and this was okay, but when i tried to Sync with iTunes, I got a message saying I'd delete over 800 entries on the Computer (the 'over 25% of entries being changed' warning) if I continued, so I 'cancelled sync' of the Calendar entries...
I next followed the support page recommendation, and on iTunes>(Device)>info>advanced, clicked on the 'Replace information on this iPhone - Calendar' box. Next Sync, all entries reappeared, but whenever I've tried to Sync since it tells me that if I proceed , I will 'MODIFY' over 350 entries on the computer - something I'm a little weary of doing! Is there any advice anyone can give as to where I've gone wrong / if I should just proceed, etc?
I'm running Windows 7, and the iTunes is up to date, as is the iOS on the iPhone 4S...
Thanks very much in advance for any help!
    Kindest regards,
    Mark

I have this same issue: When I add an event on my iphone, it does not show up on icloud.com - it worked fine in the past and I haven't changed any settings. I verified the icloud calendar settings on the phone (default calendar etc..) - I tried to turn calendar icloud sync off and then back on but to no avail. help.

  • Outlook Sync (Contacts/Calendar) Issues - Progress today........

    Folks,
I posted another earlier discussion on this topic over the weekend, but since I got my iPhone on Friday, I have probably burned about 20 hours working trying to figure out why I cannot sync my calendar and contacts from Office 2003 "OR" 2007 into my iPhone. When I started this process, 584 of my 1310 contacts did sync, I had NO luck on getting any of calendar items to sync.
Today we resolved the Contact issue!!! Still working on the calendar issues and if anyone has any further ideas, I am open to it, but it appears for both the contacts and calendar issues, I had corrupt data. You dont know it until encounter it this way.
Here is what you need to do in order to get the contacts to sync, it worked for me, hopefully it will work for many after me:
    1. Export "ALL" of your contacts to a .CSV (Comma Separated Value for Windows) file. Just export them to your desktop or somewhere easy to find them. As an extra safety net to ensure you dont lose your contacts, back them up also to a .XLS file as well as a .PST file.
    2. Delete "ALL" your contacts out of Outlook. Sync Outlook, especially if your like me and have your contacts and calendar on a corporate exchange server. Be sure you clear your iPhone so there is no contacts on it.
    3. Import the .CSV file to a VCARD file, sync to your coporate server, sync your iTunes and you should now see all your contacts.
Again, it worked for me and hopefully it works for you.
    Good Luck!!
    Alan
Dell D420 running Win XP   Windows XP Pro

    Everyone is waiting for this.
Right now you cannot sync locally between your phone and your desktop. You are forced to upload your contacts to another company's server (read "the cloud") and then download them from whatever device you didn't upload them from.
Still waiting for this fix please.

  • Ical sync to gmail calendar issues with snow leopard

I had sync before w/ iCal 3 then it stopped last June.  I'm now running 10.6.8 with the hope that the Sync would be good. Still no luck.  My Gmail account is working find with connection to my Droid just not syncing w/ iCal.  Note I've tried to re-enter the Gmail account with out luck.
    I appreciate the help !
    Thanks

    Harvey,
The "On My Mac" calendars will not sync, and in my experience are no longer required. They can be safely deleted after making backup copies.

  • RIM Facebook 1.7 Calendar Issues (with Google sync)

I know that the Facebook app calendar issues have been documented all over the web and in other posts on this forum; but I still have been unable to figure out the best solution to this problem.
I am using the latest version (1.7) of the Facebook app and the latest version of google sync.
Despite unchecking the calendar sync option for the Facebook app, it ALWAYS eventually hijacks the "device default" calendar for my BB (curve 8330) and adds all my friend's birthdays.  It sometimes happens after a battery pull, other times it seems random.  Despite deleting the facebook cical entry, it will always come back eventually.
I am unable to set anything other than facebook in my default calendar option under options>advanced>device default. When I delete the facebook cical, the default calendar selection (options>advanced>default services) disappears entirely I assume that this is because there is no option other than the device default.
I have NEVER had a cical entry for my google calendar.  I'm assuming the google sync app does not need a cical entry.  I'm also assuming that the lack of a cical entry is what is preventing me from selecting my google calendar as my default, which is what many suggest to solve this problem.  I cannot select my google calendar as a default, which isn't a problem until facebook hijacks my calendar.
Previous to FB app 1.7, everytime my calendar was hijacked, google sync would become a one way street (events would sync from the web to my phone, but not vice versa).  To remedy this, I would delete the facebook cical, RSET the calendar manually, and re-sync my google calendar.  This would work fine until the next time FB hijacked the calendar.
Now (in FB 1.7), despite hijacking my calendar, it does not appear to interrupt google sync in either direction.  My google calendar is now named "facebook," but birthdays do not sync to my google calendar.  It is very odd indeed and worries me that this convoluted setup is going to mess up my online google calendar at some point.
Unchecking the calendar option in the facebook app should prevent it from creating a cical entry. Period.  This is very frustrating and discouraging to see RIM update this app from 1.5 to 1.6 to 1.7 without fixing this obnoxious issue.
Has anyone else been able to find a solution to this problem?

Had the same problem here plus the same event kept getting duplicated 20 to 30 times per day.
I tried all of the solutions that people suggested:
    removed facebook cical
set default email to another email address
    battery pull
none of that worked; there was still a "default" email with all of the replicated events.
Then I stumbled upon a Blackberry tip to move all events into one email account.  So, I moved everything into my GMAIL account, and the "default" email disappeared.  Apparently, if a calendar account is deleted without deleting the events (as was the case with Facebook) the rogue events stay in a "default" calendar.
I then used Blackberry desktop manager to create a sync to MS Outlook.  I opened Outlook and did a search for the replicated events (by name).  494 replicated events were found, so I selected all of them and deleted them.  I then went back to Blackberry Desktop Manager, re-synced, was prompted to remove the events and WHAM, problem solved.
Make sure that you uncheck he calendar feature in the Facebook for Blackberry App options.
I hope that this helps others!

  • Error message when trying to sync calendars

  • How do I sync calendars between Mac (OS10.6.8) and iPad (iOS7.1)? using iTunes (v 11.1.15).

I have an iMac (model 8.1, OS X v 10.6.8) and an iPad 2 (iOS 7.1).  The calendars no longer sych via iTunes but did about 6 months ago. I think that may have been when I updated the iPad OS.  None of the instructions I've seen on-line seem to help. When I attach the iPad to the iMac via a USB cable I get the following message in iTunes - > Info - >Sych Calendars, "Your calendara are being synced with your iPad over the air from iCloud. Over the air settings can be changed on your iPad."  I do not have an iCloud account.  According to the Apple Support website, "To use iCloud, you must have at least iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPad, or iPad mini; or at least OS X Lion v10.7.5 on a Mac." I'm not sure my iMac can support that OS due to its age.  Besides, I used to be able to sync the calendars so why bother with iCloud?  It just seems like one more step.
Also, I've never been able to sych the mail content between the two machines.  The message below the iTunes->iPad->Info ->Sync Mail Accounts says, "Syncing Mail Accounts syncs your account settings, but not your messages...."  Any instructions on how to sync the messages would be appreciated too.
It's frustrating to have these syncing challenges.  I had a Palm Pilot at work about 15 years ago and and it synced with the PC any time I put it into the docking cradle.  Same thing with a work-issued Blackberry about 10 years ago.  I'm disappointed that the Apple systems seems to be so convoluted and un-user friendly.  Syncing calendars worked when I orginally got the iPad about two years ago but now doesn't seem to sych.  What am I missing?  Thanks in advance.

I downloaded the icloud software on my computer in order to sync calenders and contacts using Windows 2007, but I keep getting an error message when trying to sync my icloud and Outlook calendars.  I downloaded it for the first time a month ago and  had it working but it stopped syncing, so I deinstalled the iCloud software and reinstalled, but keep getting the error message "Your setup couldn't be started because of an unexpected error.  What do I do now?  Can anyone help with this?

  • IPhone will not sync calendar after 10.5.2 update

I am having this issue. I have restored the phone and still can't sync calendars with phone. The phone does not seem to be syncing mail accounts either.
Can anyone help or offer suggestions?

Try resetting the sync history first which is done with iSync preferences with the iSync application located in your Applications folder.
Applications > iSync > iSync Preferences > Reset Sync History
After that, reboot your Mac and try syncing again.

  • Itunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected

Just went to sync my iphone today and got this message:

Any ideas what the problem might be.  Had not had this happen to me before.
Can't be iCloud because the only thing I use that for is Find My Mac.
Restarted iTunes as well - still get the warning notice.

  • ITunes could not sync calendars to iPhone because the iPhone disconnected

    error message
iTunes could not sync calendars to iPhone because the iPhone disconnected
I have spoken to Apple a couple of times in the last week (approx 2hr) apple support said it could be a Microsoft issue I have spoken to Microsoft and read endless information from the net and it seems that Microsoft is not the issue.
I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled, reset all settings in Settings\General on the phone, reset sync history on the iPhone, upgraded microsoft office 2003 to 2007 and I am still getting the error message.
I have a iPhone 3G, pc is running windows 7 and just upgraded to microsoft office Home and Student 2007 and Office Outlook 2007.
    iTunes version 11.0.2.26
    iPhone iOS 6.1.3
I have the same error on my wife's iPhone as well.
    Any help would be great.

Thanks midwestcraft. I had this problem and your answer solved it for me.
Thought this further info may be of use to some who wants more historic dates in their calendar.
I had "do not sync events older than" unchecked and the input field set to "0". When I changed it to 180, it worked perfectly. I've found that I can increase this number to "545" - anything higher causes the error. This seems to coincide with some strange multiple-entry events in my calendar.
Don't know if this will be a clue for somebody to fix the issue.

  • Any way start over from scratch to fix iCloud calendar issues in Outlook 2010?

I'm suddenly having perplexing iCloud calendar issues in Outlook.  Forget the hundreds and hundreds of duplicate entries for birthdays and holidays, and the thousands of duplicate contacts - I've just been manually deleting them from Outlook.  I also tried manually deleted iCloud files from iCloud on outlook, but this does not seem to affect what is on iCloud itself.  I've now got an issue where if I add an appointment on my iPhone, it appears on Icloud but not in Outlook 2010 even though the iPhone calendar is displayed in Outlook. iPad appointments show up on iPhone, iCloud and Outlook.  iCloud entered appointments show up on iPhone, and iPad and Outlook.  Of course it is maddening that there is a separate calendar for each (there is only one of me, so why a separate calendar in Outlook  for every source is beyond me).  How can I get my iPhone to start showing up again in Outlook?  Another issue is that now every time I click on calendar in Outlook, it takes 2-3 minutes to display the calendar because iCloud seems to be syncing. I'm assuming this is because there a so many duplicates.  I've removed Icloud from Outlook. Ran a repair on Outlook.  Uninstalled iCloud. Reinstalled.  Re-added to outlook., but the issue is never fixed.  I'm considering make a brand new Apple ID and abandoning my current one, but that means I have to change my iPad, iCloud, iPhone, family iPhones, Outlook, readd credit card, reload all of the data.  That's a pain.  I sure would be nice to have a simple way of editing the iCloud data and adding devices (and having a more descriptive source name would be even better).

I found sync options under "info"
I was looking to sync the information from the phone back into outlook, It looks like these options will sync what is on outlook into the phone..
I wanted to export from the phone (which has all of the old appointments and updated contacts) , back into outlook
    Any other thoughts?
    Thanks

  • Unable to set Outlook to override iPhone when syncing calendar/contacts

Hi, I connect my 3GS iPhone via USB and sync calendar and contacts. I make ALL changes in Outlook. Is there any way to enable one way sync? i.e. to allow the computer to automatically delete/change previous entries on the phone?

I just dealt with this issue a few hours ago. I too couldn't figure out how to adjust any settings for two way syncing.
I synced my phone so that the contacts on my phone were up to date in Outlook.
In iTunes I selected contacts to sync but then at the bottom of that info screen where it says Advanced... I checked contacts again in that section. It is giving you the option to replace information on iphone with what is on the computer. Then I hit apply and then I select sync.
Kind of an backasswards way of doing things, but I have noticed I've been doing that alot with the iphone.

  • IOS 8.1.1 iPhone 5 won't sync calendars with MacPro

I am using an iPhone 5, iOS 8.1.1, an older MacPro with OS 10.7.5 and iTunes 12.0.1.26
Up until the past 2 weeks I had no problem syncing calendar events between the phone and computer. Now my memory become foggy, I either downloaded the latest version of iTunes or the phone's iOS and ever since I cannot sync my calendars. My music syncs fine when I make changes to the playlists.
I've chek'd thru the discussions on similar items here in the discussion group but nothing seems to help.
Anyone with suggestions or a fix?
    Thanks
