Removing title on subsequent pages

In Pages, how do you remove the title from subsequent pages. I have a title on page 1, this repeats on p2. p3 etc.

You have written the title in the Header, which by default do repeat itself on every page. you can do as Jerry says or Cut the title out if the HEader and paste in the text layer.

  • Remove "Home" text in page title

    Anyone know how to remove the "Home" text in the page title's breadcrumb?
    I've tried .s4-title h2{display:none}, which doesn't remove it.  But, actually, I see the "Home" text in both the "h1" and the "h2" tags.
    I looked in IE Developer Tools, and I see the "Home" text within this code:
    <h1 name="onetidprojectpropertytitle">
    <span id="ct100_PlaceHolderSiteName_ContentMap">
    <span>
    <a class="ms-sitemapdirectional" href="/sites/sitecollectionname">
    Text - sitecollectiontitle
    <span>
    Text - >
    <span>
    <a class="ms-sitemapdirectional" href="/sites/sitecollectionname/sitename">
    Text - sitetitle
    <span>
    Text - >
    <span class="ms-sitemapdirectional">
    Text - Home
    I want to get rid of that arrow ">" and the "Home" text.
    any help would be appreciated.  thanks!

    If you are only wanting to remove it from a single page you can add a "Content Editor Web Part"  to the page.   Then change the Layout properties of the Content Editor Web Part to  hidden.
    Using the Source Editor for that webpart you can paste the following code:
    <style>
    .ms-globalTitleArea {
    display:none;
    </style>
    This will hide that entire area.  If you still would like to have the search bar available you will want to paste in this instead:
    <style>
    .ms-sitetitle {
    display:none;
    </style>
    This will only hide the title and will leave the search visible.

  • Why do text variables using Running Header character style translate forced returns as a word space in the running head on the first page but close up the space on subsequent pages?

    In an InDesign document that requires 3 different Chapter head paragraph styles (to cope with differrent length headings) I've set up the running heads on the master page with a text variable using the Running header (character style) option. The character style I've assigned to this is an empty character style that is applied to all 3 chapter head paragraph styles.
    Some chapter heads require a forced line break, so that the line breaks are aethesically pleasing. On the first page the text variable translates this forced line break as a word space in the running head, but on subsequent pages it ignores the forced line break. This means that if you have a word space before the forced line break, on the first page you get a double word space and on subsequent pages the running head sets correctly with a single word space. But if you remove the word space before the forced line break in the chapter head text, the first running head sets correctly with forced line break interpreted as a single word space, but on subsequest pages the space is closed up.
    This only seems to be a problem when the character style option is used for header text variables. If a paragraph style is used the forrced line break is interpreted as a a single word space in all instances, both on the foirst page and subsequent pages.
    This would appear to be a bug in how text variables are applied when using the Running header (character style) option. I can't see any other reason why the text variable would beheave differently on the first page and on subsequent pages. There is only one master page, so it isn't a case of their being an error between a main master page and a chapter opener master page.
    Does anyone have any solutionss, or know if this problem has been fixed in subsequent releases of InDesign (I'm using CS6 ID version 8.0)
    Thanks

  • PDF with imported video leaves outline on subsequent page

    I have an InDesign file with an imported MOV video.
    When I Export an Interactive PDF and open it in Acrobat X (10.1.7), the video plays fine, but when I advance to the next page, there is a remnant ghost outline in the exact location of the video on the subsequent page. If I toggle back/forth between pages the outline goes away. The outline is a single-pixel rectangle of the video's position on the previous slide.
    Tried this on two different Macs and see the issue, even starting a brand new file and importing just the video and exporting the file.
    Using the standard/defauit settings for Interactive PDF Export, and the latest version of Acrobat.
    Curiously, this problem does not occur if I use Adobe Reader, but is present and repeatable in Acrobat X.
    Is this a known bug? Any workarounds?
    Thanks,
    R

    If I go to install Acrobat XI (even as a trial), it states that older versions of Acrobat will be removed, which I'm not okay with.
    I otherwise have no compelling reason to upgrade to XI, even if this bug is fixed in that version—that's pretty expensive for a bug fix which can/should be fixed in a patch for X.

  • Modern resume template - Large gap on 2nd and subsequent pages

    I am using Pages 5.5.2 on Yosemite 10.10.1.  When the body content extends beyond the first page, all subsequent pages have a large gap at the top.  If I change the top margin, the content overlaps with the name and address 'layers'.  How do I reduce the space.  There is an existing question, but it refers to previous versions.
    Thanks

    Using multiple returns is a very crude and amateurish way of laying out text.
    Firstly determine what should and should not be in the Headers and Footers. Company Name and Address should not be in the Header if they are only required once on the front page. They should be in a floating TextBox or part of the Initial Text.
    Headers and Footers should be reserved for what they are meant for, repeating elements like Chapter titles and page numbers.
    To maintain the necessary spacing to the text under use Space after paragraph.
    In Pages '09 you can do this more neatly with First Page is different and using a Layout Break to start the page lower.

  • Title of Web Page doesn't appear at very top of browser window!

    Running 3.6.8 on Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and the name/title of the website I am currently viewing doesn't appear above the address bar.
    For example, for this page (support.mozilla.com/en . . . ), "Ask a Question | Firefox Support" does not show up on the top.
    The title of the page DOES, however, appear in the tabs, but I often don't browse with multiple tabs open on a given browser window.
    I have tried running in safe mode, have disabled all addons/themes etc, but nothing seems to fix the irritating problem.

    I've partially fixed it by making some adjustments and republishing. but I still could not get the reflection to appear with the photo - which left a blank space that threw off the spacing on the page. i've removed the reflection to resolve this.

  • I need a 3-inch top margin on the first page of my letter and a 1-inch top margin on subsequent pages. How can I do this?

    This is so easy in Word but I have spent 2 hours trying to figure it out in Pages. To print on my boss' stationary I need a 3-inch margin on the first page and a 1-inch top margin on the subsequent pages. When I change the top margin on page 2 in Inspector, it changes the top margin on page 1 to 1-inch as well. In Word this is an intuitive, 2-step process.

    Hi Dan,
    Don't confuse "intuitive" with "what I'm used to."
    Pages has "Document" margins, which apply to all pages of the document, and "Layout" margins, which may be set to provide additional margin space in a layout.
    Start by setting the Document margins to 1" all around. This is the default setting for the (word processor) Blank templates. You can check it (and adjust it if necessary) in the Inspector. Open an Inspector window (View > Show Inspector). Choose the Document Inspector (first button).
    Switch to the Layout Inspector (second button). Remember that you already have a 1 inch top margin, so to produce a 3 inch margin before the beginning of this layout, you'll need to set a 2 inch Layout margin "Before" the layout.
    Hmmm... Depending what you're defining as 'steps' for the process in word, and considering that the document margins in Numbers are preset to 1" all around, this appears to be a 1-step process in Numbers:
    Step 1: Set the "Before" Layout margin to 2 inches.
    Done.

  • How can I see the entire "title" of a page (now truncated)?

    I see that Firefox is now truncating the "title" of web pages. I cannot see any good reason for this because the space to the right of the title is blank. I think it was done in the "do anything to make changes to Firefox" department but in this case it is not an improvement and provides the user with less information.
    How can I fix the browser so I can again see the entire "title" as provided by the web page designer? I don't want to take extra steps (if any) to see it. I want it to display automatically each time.

    That is on the tab. A tab has a maximum width because otherwise a long title would cover the full tab width.
    You can make the Windows title bar visible again in the open the customize window via the 3-bar Firefox menu button (Customize is at the bottom left).<br />
    There you will find the choice to have the title bar visible.

  • I no longer have access to system folders that allow me to remove old or incorrect PAGES templates. Need to find out how to do that. The only way I can do it now is to blank the template and replace the bad template with a blank.

    I no longer have access to system folders that allow me to remove old or incorrect PAGES templates. Need to find out how to do that. The only way I can do it now is to blank the template and replace the unwanted template with a blank. It was previously possible to go to MY TEMPLATES and remove the unwanted templates. I don't if this issue is before or since installation of 10.8 (a nightmare in my case, which led to significant failure issues).  And because I haven't tried to remove templates since finally managing to install 10.8 (now at 10.8.4), I don't know if this is typical of the newer OS or a problem. I've been a Mac user for more than 25 years, but I think I'm nearing the end of the road. By the way, I've never needed to do this before because the manuals always offered an answer... they don't seem to do that anymore. In any case, I don't know how this works... I'd prefer an email reply if that's possible. But that would probably be too easy, and I don't know how to get a reply.

    Thanks, I appreciate the help.  I think this is one of the problems Apple is creating by changing the OS so often. I had fomer colleagues at [a major aerospace contractor] who told me that so many original files were ultimately lost because of the deadly change in the "Save As" operation that they are now afraid of every OS update. Apple has badly damaged their support base with that very prominent company (they won't update now until they've fully examined and understand changes in the pre-conditioned nature of OS computer functions), and they are a whole lot less enthaled with Mac-related equipment/software. Can't blame them, I too used orginal files that way (as easy-to-use templates), and lost some important files before I realized what was happening (to late to revert). Companies should not have to retrain employees each time an OS gets an update, it's can be very expensive several different ways. They learned a painful lesson with that one. And because I'm now retired and don't use multiple devices, I need iCloud like I need a hole in the head... but I'm told there's no way to keep Apple out of my computer. Fortunately, because of major problems when initially installing Mountain Lion, one hold-over of the hardware/software damage I experienced was that iCloud can no longer access my computer even though everything else is working fine again. That was the only "good luck" I had as a result of that expensive nightmare.

  • Table of contents - title creates automatic page break

    I want the title "Table of Contents" to appear above the automatically generated Table of Contents in pages.  The TOC covers 3 pages (it's a long document) and I've formatted it and am happy. However, the title for the page which reads "Table of Contents" makes the TOC jump down to another page leaving the title on an otherwise blank page.  I have tried re-typing the title, ensuring no page breaks are on the page. I've deleted the TOC and reinserted it at the appropriate place etc. But it keeps jumping down and starting on a new page.  Any advice appreciated. I want to the keep the title "Table of Contents" on the same page as the table of contents themselves.

    I am having the exact same issue. Long ToC (3 pages), but cannot place a simple headline above it. It automatically breaks the pages and starts on a new page. Any ideas people?
    Please see the picture below. I cannot find a way to narrow down that gap between headline and ToC.
    Cheers Phil

  • When scaling in page setup, 1st page prints correctly, but subsequent pages do not scale correctly/too large for the paper, parts of the text missing

    When trying to print in Firefox, and when scaling the page size in page setup, the first page prints correctly, but subsequent pages do not scale correctly and are too large for the paper, with parts of the text are being cut off at the top and right. This is not fixed by checking or un-checking the "ignore scaling/shrink to fit page width" in the print window, or by changing the scaling%.
    I am running Firefox 15.0.1, on Mac OS 10.5.8.
    The same problem happens in the print preview and if I save the print as a .pdf
    I have tried all the fixes in the how to's and others in various forums with no improvement.
    This happens every time I try to print a document scaled up or down only in Firefox.

    The 2nd page print scaling error has been an issue with Firefox on the Mac since 2011. People at Mozilla have not considered this a major problem. Try printing anything at less than 100% and you'll quickly see how every page after the first page being scaled wrong gets old real fast. The lack of a solution to this issue forced me long ago into using Safari as my primary browser. Good luck waiting until version 21 for a solution. Current release is 18.0.2.
