Syncing contacts to a 6300: firstname / surname

When syncing to my 6300, Outlook contacts get their firstname and surname put together in the surname field in the 6300. I found an old topic on this subject, but it was about another phone with just one name field.
Why does the sync software not respect the firstname / surname fields?
(Version of PC Suite: 6.84.10.4 Dutch)

I do not have 6300, but does it have separate fields for first name and last name or only one field, "name"?

My Bosses iPhone is merging different contacts with the same firstname into one contact. How can i resolve this? He seems very disturbed and thinks i don't know what i'm doing. I've set up all his devices to sync across and now its messed up on his iPad, and two iPhones.
E.G Contacts with firstname 'Adams' and different numbers are synced into one account.
Now i have no clue how many contacts are this way cos he has a huge number of contacts (he's the ceo).
Please i need a suggestion on how to fix this.
    Thanks for the help.

How do I edit the device in iTunes?
    Double-click on the name.
My screen shot shows both devices because I sync wirelessly.  Right now I can change the iPod name but not the iPad name because the iPod is idle while the iPad is syncing.  In another minute or two, I'll be able to change the iPad name.

If you can see the iCloud contacts in Outlook, you can copy them back to your PC by selecting all the contacts (click one, then press Control-A), then drag and drop the selected contacts to Contacts under My Contacts on the left sidebar of Outlook.
If you want to copy your calendar back to Outlook, select your iCloud calendar on the left sidebar of Outlook, switch to the list view (select View from the ribbon, then click Change View>List), select your events (click on a single event, then press Control-A), then control drag and drop them to Calendar under My Calendars on the left sidebar.
Then you can sign out of iCloud on the iCloud control panel and your local copies will still be there.  If you want to add your iCloud email account back to iCloud, you can do this with these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.

  • Need Help Transferring/Syncing Contacts TO PC

I feel like I have searched everywhere for a solution but haven't found one.  I am ultimately trying to export my contacts on my iphone 4 to an excel format. If I can do this directly, excellent.  If it's a 2-step process, fine.
I did see that I can sync my contacts from my phone to my Windows Address Book (WAB). I tried that using iTunes (Info, Sync Contacts with "Windows Contacts" and apply), but when I went to my contacts folder in windows, the only contact I saw was a contact file for the username on my computer. Every other topic I've read says that this should work, but obviously in my case it's not.
I do not have outlook or manage my phone contacts in any other application, just my phone.
Am I doing something wrong, can anyone help me out? Thank you in advance.
    Here's my specs:

  • IPhone 3Gs won't sync contacts through iTunes after 4.0.2 upgrade

I updated to OS 4.0.2 today, and since then my iPhone 3Gs will not sync contacts. All contacts have now disappeared from my phone. The group headings still show, but Contacts is empty. I performed a factory reset and restored my phone, but still no contacts. Even after repeated syncs.
I am syncing with Address Book through iTunes. I performed a one way sync each time from laptop to phone to avoid the phone overwriting my address book with zero data. I also backed up my contacts before attempting the sync, so the data still exists in Address Book, it simply won't appear in the phone.
I also tried to reset sync history - first by using iSync 'reset sync history' button, but that does not work these days as iSync does not see my iPhone. Then I tried looking for the reset sync history' button that Apple Support says can be found as follows:
"Open iTunes. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences. Click the Devices tab. Click the Reset Sync History button."
But - that button is not there!
    Any ideas anyone?

Did you try to set up your phone without using the latest backup? If you can, your other backup might be damaged and not usable anymore.

  • How to keep Sync contacts on Mavericks 10.9, iClould, gmail, iPhone IOS 7?

    Have you ever happened?
Basically I don't want to lose time coping and pasting, doing much work to do something simple. I want to have sync my contacts from gmail account with iCloud account.
I used to have Lion Mac OS 10.7.4 which was allowing me sync my contacts from gmail into my macbook contacts. What was really beautiful because if I’d add a new contact automatically was updated into my gmail account and by default was updated into my iCloud account (1) which it’s really important in an Apple device or (2) just to have a back up in your iCloud account.
    1. If I use iCloud to save every contact, such as phone numbers, email address, etc.. (with the information that I have read) It'd be default to write emails in gmail if I am in my macbook or a pc from school, I mean it's gonna be a lot of work. , because the contacts will be in iCloud .
    2. But also if I restore, lost, sell my iPhone and I buy a new one it'll be easier if I just type my Apple ID and there's gonna be my all contacts.
However now I have got Mavericks 10.9.1 which is currently not allowing sync contact in this way, this is a big problem for me I use a lot google mail and Apple things as well. I have been making a small research about but nothing. Can you give me your opinion or solve my problem?

You can sync your Google contacts with the app,Contacts but you cannot sync between iCloud contacts and Google contacts. Just like your email does not sync between account, but to the application. It's always been that way.
If you want to email someone from your Gmail account but their address is only in iCloud, this is not a problem as Mail uses all addresses in Contacts.

  • I can't see the option for yahoo in the sync contacts section of i tunes

when I go into i tunes (with my iphone 4S contected to my pc - and click on the info tab - I can see the 'sync contacts with' option - the drop down box to the right of this offers me the options to sync with - outlook, google contacts & windows contacts.  it does not offer me the option to sync with yahoo - which is my email account - how can i add yahoo to this drop down box of options?

    Hi GillAH12
I have observed the same as you have where I no longer see the option to sync with Yahoo contacts when I access itunes via my PC. I currently have an iPhon4s with latest iOS 6.0.1.
I know for a fact prior to what I see now, I never saw a choice of  "Google contacts" to sync but the other choices of "Outlook" and Windows Address Book" may have always been in the drop down list.  The only thing I could thing of as to why the choice of Google contacts appears there is because I logged onto Google with a shared account (created by someone else) that I use with my other colleagues for a Tech volunteer org I belong too that may have a small list of contacts from our group.
As you mentioned in your initial post on 11/27/12 (at 4:53 pm), I too only have Yahoo as my main email contact where I maintain my contacts on my PC and other than iCloud (turned off for contacts and mail) in my iPhone setting, I only have Yahoo listed as my other account (and ALL settings are turned ON for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders and Notes)
    Chris,
You mention to GillAH12 (in your reply on Nov 27, 2012 5:11 PM) that
" Computer contacts sync to Yahoo. Phone contacts sync to Yahoo. You don't sync yahoo contacts on phone to computer or vice-versa. "
But the last time I had syncing issues between my iPhone contacts to my Yahoo contacts (that I troubleshooted with a Genius tech at an Apple Store) unless he was wrong, he said once you add your Yahoo account in your iPhone settings, and turn on your Contacts, he said your iPhone should now display your yahoo contacts (which they did) and I'm almost sure (but not 100%) that he said all subsequent updates/additions to my contacts on your iPhone should be synced and reflected in my Yahoo contact list on my PC and vice-versa from my Yahoo contacts on my PC to my iPhone. Not lately, but I have seen my Yahoo contacts get updated after I added a new or updated an existing contact on my iPhone
You are saying that's not the case and if not, whom (i.e with Apple support or some other Apple user) did you confirm that info with?
Before I even visited the Apple Store, since I bought my iPhone at Verizon, i intially spent several hours with a Verizon tech to try and resolve (but they were unsuccessful) my Yahoo contact sync issues, before they suggested I go to an Apple Store. As myself and GillAH12 (and I'm sure others have observed), it's very frustrating to get mixed answers from different Apple techs and it's sad us Apple users have to rely on our testing and troubleshooting skills to help each other.
    Thanks

  • How do we sync contacts and calendars (ONLY) between two iCloud accounts, two iPhones and one iMac with two user accounts?

This is complex.  Until today we had one iMac with two user accounts - one for me and the other for my wife.  We sync'd our calendars and contacts between our two user accounts using my iCloud account, thereby keeping our schedules coordinated and our contacts information always the same between us.  Also, as I had an iPhone, I sync'd my phone with my iCloud account, thereby keeping the contacts and calendars in the two user accounts on the iMac AND my iPhone sync'd.  (I also sync'd other things, like Notes and Mail and Safari settings, between my iPhone and my user account on the iMac, but my wife did not want to be burdened with all my emails showing up in her email account and I wasn't interested in hers, etc., so we didn't sync anything between us other than calendars and contacts.)
We've finally bought my wife an iPhone and set up an iCloud account for her.  And of course she now wants to sync several items from HER account on our iMac to HER iPhone, but I don't want them, just as she doesn't want all of my other stuff.  But we still want our mutual calendars and contacts to sync to HER new iPhone, just like they already do to mine.  But I can't figure out how to CHANGE her iMac user account from using MY iCloud account on the iMac to using HER new iCloud account, and then having HER iCloud account speak to MY iCloud account but share JUST our calendars and contacts.
Originally I tried a workaround by simply having her iPhone log into my iCloud account.  That works great for the calendars and the contacts.  But...she can't sync anything else from her iMac account to her new iPhone because she's presently "forced" to use my iCloud account.  And neither of us want to sync our other things to each other's iMac accounts or iPhones.  Also as we're both using my iCloud account, in things like the Find My iPhone app, the Cloud is seeking two phones labeled with my name and none with her's.  So we definitely don't want this as the set-up and communications network between our devices.
We want to set up our users on the iMac to sync to our SEPARATE AND DIFFERENT iCloud accounts and then have those iCloud accounts sync calendars and contacts (ONLY) between themselves, and then push that data to our separate iPhones (or the other way, from either of our iPhones to the individual accounts on our iMac and the other person's iPhone).  Does this description make sense to you?  I've diagramed it nicely using Keynote, but even thiough I can draw it, I can't figure out how to set up and configure all the devices to make it work.  If you would like me to send the Keynote slides (just two of them - the current and desired configurations - please send your email address to me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to forward it to you.
If anyone can help me set this up I'd be most appreciative!  Thanks so much.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all readers in this community!

    BobT.
I had the same problem, and decided to look into it last night.
First of all, the solution I would like to have is for Apple to allow for selection of iCloud accounts per application, i.e. Contacts to one, Photo Stream to another. I believe this would be the most straight forward solution for the problem we are facing.
Since this is not an option I came up with a workaround. I was most interested in solving this for Contacts, so this is what I tested for. Now I have all 3 devices with the same contacts.
    1) Turn off iCloud for Contacts on all devices. On the device that has the Contacts list that you would like to propagate to all others select to keep the contacts, and on the others select not to keep them.
Note that the current backups still exist on iCloud, so in case something goes wrong you can still turn the iCloud for Contacts back on to get your current Contacts back.
    2) In iTunes, sync All Contacts with the phones, starting with the one with the Contacts content you chose to keep.
From this point on, the 3 devices should sync contacts with each other.
This, of course, will stop your iCloud backups of Contacts, but I don't think this is really needed. You are already storing copies of your Conacts on 3 devices, which for good parts of the day are likely not all co-located. You also potentially have Time Machine backups turned on, which would mean there is a 4th copy there as well. For the case of Contacts iCloud only complicates matter ... that is until Apple implements the solution I first wrote about.

  • How can I sync contacts in my address book to my iPod Touch 2nd Generation with iTunes 10.5.2?

My iPod Touch with OS 4.2.1 will no longer sync contacts from my address book on my computer now that I've upgraded to iTunes 10.5.2 and to Lion.  I have ensured that the iPod Touch is set to synchronize all my contacts.   The calendar continues to sync.

I have the same situation. I believe I disconnected iCloud by going into preferences and also unclicking the box for Contacts. What am I missing?

  • Can two users on the same Mac sync contacts by using the same Apple ID in the iCloud settings?

Can two users on the same Mac sync contacts by using the same Apple ID in the iCloud settings?

    Hi Barney,
That's exactly what I want. I have a personal user and a business user on my MacBook Pro. I want both users to have the same contacts so if I add a contact while I'm logged into my personal user, it will show up when I'm logged into my business user. I want both contacts books to be exactly the same; like you said. So, I used my business user AppleID when I enabled iCloud for my personal user and I enabled iCloud for my business user with that Apple ID as well. For my personal user, I selected Contacts and Calendars to sync with iCloud. For my business user, I selected everything to sync with iCloud. The problem is... it didn't change anything. I restarted my computer to see if that would do anything but nothing happened. I'm not super savvy with Apple products, so maybe I'm completely confused.
    Hi Xeni,
Thank you for your response, as well.

  • Can two Apple IDs be linked so that they can share data? My iMac and iPad have the same Apple ID and sync contacts, bookmarks, etc. My wife's iPad has a different Apple ID. Can it be linked somehow to mine to share contacts etc?

No. You cannot link your contacts to hers. However, you can use Home Sharing to share the information:

iOS- Setting up Home Sharing on your iOS device
Setting up Home Sharing for Apple TV (2nd & 3rd generation)

  • Is there any way to sync Outlook for Mac with iPhone? I have tried everything but not successful. Apple says it is not possible to sync contacts from Outlook for Mac to iPhone 5. Any help will be much appreciated.

Is there any way to Sync contacts from Outlook for Mac to iPhone 5? Apple support says that only iTune can only sync contacts from "Contact" which is the default contact of Mac. If one is running Outllok on a Mac machine then it is not possible to sync the contacts with iPhone. It is strange that Apple distributors are promoting and offering machines with promise that Windows users can now run MS Office on Mac machines without any problem. While this is true, it is so strange that one cannot sync the contacts from MacBook Pro to iPhone5. If someone has found a way to sync contacts from Outlook to iPhone 5 please help as it is very frustrating to not be able to sync the contacts. Thanks, Amit.

  • I have an iPhone that was set up as a backup of another phone. I want to sync it with my current library; am afraid of losing synced contacts. Will I? Can I prevent this?

The older phone in question was a work phone that was set up by the owner and then distributed to employees for use. I have a new phone that will be for personal use that I have backed up from the work phone;mainly for the contacts. I want to sync the new phone with my personal library, and I go to do so and get the infamous "erase and sync" message. Will this erase they synced contacts if I do this? (Contacts are what are most important in this case; there is no music stored, for the backup had no music.) If it does, can I prevent this from happening without having to manually replace the contacts?

You did not restore the new iPhone.
The first time a new iPhone is connected to iTunes on a computer that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device or that was used to backup another iPhone or iOS devide, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device, or set up the new iPhone as a new iPhone.
Since the old iPhone was synced with iTunes on a different computer, all iTunes content on the new iPhone (which is none at the present time) will be erased first.
The warning message should indicate all iTunes content will be erased from the iPhone, which is iTunes content only.
If you are syncing contacts with a supported address book app on this computer and the supported address book app on this computer includes any contacts, you will be provided a merge prompt for the contacts, which you want to select. Otherwise the contacts on the iPhone will be replaced with the contacts in the address book app on the computer with the first sync.

  • How can I sync contacts to IMac, Icloud and Iphone

My Contacts on my Imac have only one option in settings to sync with my google contacts.  Before Icloud all my contacts and calendar synced just fine between my Imac and Iphone.  Now with Icloud I never seem to be able to sync contact to or from my Iphone.

iCloud requires Mac OS X 10.7.2 or later. Your signature states you are using 10.6.5 so that could be the reason.
You can still use iTunes to sync your contacts. You don't have to use iCloud.

  • Mavericks can't sync contacts need to sync multiple family iPhones to same account but keep contacts in separate groups

Both my wife and son have iPhones and prior to mavericks I was able to sync contacts through iTunes and select which group of contacts synced with the phone so for instance my son would only see his contacts and my wife her own,but the imac would hold the master back up
I cannot see anyway to do this now as the only way to sync contacts appears to be through icloud.i can't find any support documents to explain what happens if I turn icloud sync on as all it says on iphone is merge contacts which presumably would then put all contacts on each phone
Does anyone know how I could achieve the desired goal?

    1 person = 1 account
iCloud is for individual use, so if 5 people share the same account they will get all of the contacts (and calendar events) in the account. Kinda messy.
Give each person their own account in iCloud and their own user account on the Mac.
iTunes can still be shared with a seperate ID for all to use.
Syncing via iTunes has nothing to do with iCloud, and is no longer possible with Mavericks.
