Syntax question (for Tween class pros maybe?)

I've posted it earlier but no one replied. Maybe my post was
a little confusing. I'll try again.
Here is the code ( > comboFunc is the problem child):
var tweenType =
[_root.tweenOptionsComboBox.selectedItem.data];
var easeType = [_root.easeOptionsComboBox.selectedItem.data];
var comboFunc = [tweenType+easeType];
this.tween = new Tween(this.ring, _xscale,comboFunc, 0,100,5,
true);
Basically there are two comboBox dropdown menus on the root.
Listing all Tween options (Regular, Bounce, Elastic...) and all
easing options (easeIn, easeOut...) How can put the two dynamically
together without a long switch statement...
any insight appreciated.
Thanks
Stephan

Hmm That's so strange. It still doesn't work. I've taken out
the array notation as you've suggested in your last message.
The Tracing in the following code:
var tweenType = _root.growingTween.selectedItem.data;
var easeType = _root.growingEase.selectedItem.data;
trace("tweenType : "+tweenType);
trace("easeType : "+easeType);
trace("tweenType[easeType] : "+tweenType[easeType]);
...prints the following messages in the output window:
tweenType : mx.transitions.easing.Regular
easeType : easeIn
tweenType[easeType] : undefined

  • Question for ALL Bootcamp Pros....

    Ok so i am currently on a PC (and have officially decided that I hate PCs) and I want to switch over to the New Macbook Pro-15". See I have a rather advanced question about the Bootcamp program (cause i understand it's basic premiss). I was wondering, is it possible to use a Thumb Drive (like a 60GB USB Drive... and yes I do have one) as my hard drive partition instead of actually partitioning my hard drive on my new Mac. The reason why I am asking this is because I use up a lot of hard drive space (quickly) and I don't want to have to worry about using up my New Mac's hard drive.
    So yes, my question is: Can I set up Bootcamp to use a 60GB USB Drive as my hard drive partition for Windows XP on my Mac? In addition, if I were to do this would anyone know how I would go about doing it?
    Thanks for the help!

    Why do you need Bootcamp at all. I'm not a gamer, and if I were, I'd find Mac versions, or a new game
    Parallels 4 will let you boot XP from any drive you choose to move the Virtual Drive folder to. You can even store multiple copies of XP or run XP and Vista at the same time, with MacOS. Get plenty of ram for this...
    Backing up Windows becomes so simple. Zip the folder and copy the file to a backup drive. Hose up your XP? Just delete the folder and move an uncompressed copy back to the right location. XP just runs again. No mixed partition drive, and the problems people have when they screw up removing the Windows partition.
    Exclude the XP folder from Time Machine, and when working with XP save documents to the 'Shared' folder that Parallels creates (that isn't excluded from Time Machine) for hourly backups of your files.
    If you trash XP on a Bootcamp partition, you are stuck with the same format and reinstallation of everything that you are trying to leave.

  • Question for a class

    Hey, I'm doing basic flash in a school class right now, and I
    have a question...
    ... there's a "vegetable term" used to describe
    following/seeing the motion path an object is taking. Do any of you
    know what it is?

    Not really being a pest - but I always thought that the
    "proper" use of a forum is to search for the
    answer forst - so...in theory, anyone asking the same
    question that has been asked several times
    within the past few days, should really not be awrded with
    getting the extra credit, because in
    reality, all these duplicate extra credit questions just help
    bottleneck the forum's bandwith - an
    improper use of any public forum - and, I now realize that I
    myself am being hypocritical for
    replying and thus adding to the bottleneck myself.

  • Audio question for you Premiere Pro vets...

    Hi there -
    FCP editor here who is loving the new PPro CS5 and is trying to convince my studio to do our next show on it.
    I'm having trouble with one particular audio situation and so far all the help documents I've read aren't giving me an answer:
    I'm trying to export a quicktime file with multiple audio tracks. For example: track 1 is a stereo track with all the camera audio, while track 2 is a stereo track with Music & effects. This would create a similar situation of a TV show dumped to tape with channels 1&2 program audio, and channel 3&4 Music and Effects.
    My assumed path would be to create 2 submixes: 1 "camera" and 2 "music & Effects." I was then hoping to export a quicktime with each sub mix as a separate audio track inside the exported quicktime. Is this correct?
    Can anyone help an old man out?

    Thanks so much for helping with this.  I can only hope that Todd sees it also.
    I have submitted a feature request.  Regardless, the ability to map tracks to channels, and the ability to create quicktime files with multiple audio tracks is definitely something that should be possible.
    If you're wondering more about the applied use:  Besides being able to map tracks to an audio channel for tape, the most important time when this is used is this: At the end of a TV show it's customary for us to export a final quicktime with program audio and music separated:  2 audio tracks in one quicktime.  If we want director commentary, that also becomes another audio track inside the quicktime.  A "track" can be stereo or mono.
    It creates a single quicktime file where all audio elements are separated, allowing us to distribute a single file to multiple departments who may have unique editing/sound requirements.  Simplifies things a lot.
    As it stands now, we would have to take the quicktime/audio elements back into Final Cut Pro or AVID to achieve this.  (Unless someone else knows a way to do in Premiere - I'm all ears).

  • More add memory questions for a MacBook Pro 1.1 (late 2007)

    I've read some of the previous threads and looked at the info that "the Hatter" has provided. In my case (actually my wife's case) she has 4 GB of ram with 1GB in each of the risers A/DIMM 1&2 AND B/DIMM 1&2. She wants to add memory and my question is can I just add 2GBs to each of the empty slots (Riser A/ 3&4 and Riser B/ 3&4). The previous examples showed only one slot in each riser with stock RAM , so i'm not sure if I should move the existing RAM in riser B to slots 3&4 in Riser A or not. By the way, it's a dual core, 2.66 GHZ.
    I'm assuming, also, from earlier threads that adding different sized memory, as long as it's in pairs is okay.

    You confuse me, because it sounds like your title is MacBook.
    So what is it you don't understand?
    Sounds like the Mac Pro was ordered or already upgraded once to 4GB. They came stock with 2 x 512MB.
    And yes, you can add 4 x 2GB.
    And yes, I'd move them to slots 1&2.

    Try a pram reset;  Power down in the normal procedure, power back up holding the following keys before the start up chime ;  option,command,P,R (no commas)continue to hold these these keys until you hear the start up chimes 2 times, then release. Reboot and see if this helps. If this persists, you should bring the machine to an Apple store, or an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider)  Hope this helps:)

    Please read my question carefully, this is, I think, a question for the experts. It's not the usual name change question.
    When I setup my new MacBook Pro, something slipped by me and my computer was named First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro (using my real first and last name).
    I changed the computer name in Preferences/Sharing to a new name and Preferences/Accounts to just be Mike. I can right click on my account name, choose advanced, and see that everything looks right.
    However, If I do a scan of my network with my iPhone using the free version of IP Scanner, it lists my computer as First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro! And it lists the user as First-Last.
    So even though another Mac just sees my new computer name, and my home folder is Mike, somewhere in the system the original setup with my full name is still stored. And it's available on a network scan. So my full name might show up at a coffee shop.
    Can I fully change the name without doing a complete re-install of Lion and all my apps?

    One thought... you said the iPhone displayed your computer's old name? I think that you must have used the iPhone with this computer before you changed the name. So no one else's iPhone should display your full name unless that iPhone had previously connected to your Mac. For example, I did this exact same change, and I use the Keynote Remote app to connect with my MacBook Pro. It would no longer link with my MacBook Pro under the old name, and I found that I had to unlink and then create a new link under the new name. So the answer to your question is, there is nothing you need to do on the Mac, but rather the phone, and no other phone will display your full name.

  • Emergency questions exporting for dvd studio pro (ntsc and pal)

    Hi,
    I'm under a tight timeline and would appreciate any help possible. I'm experimenting with outputs/burning today so the real thing can happen tomorrow.
    I have an hour long project that was shot on two different kinds of cams -- a sony hdv V1U and pan dvx100b. The first shot mostly in 16:9, the second squeeze 24p. We imported all footage as non-hd though, because the V1u has had problems syncing properly with hd settings with final cut. The issue/question now is this-
    I don't know what file format (I'm assuming mpeg-4 for DVD studio pro, but using compressor or no?) or settings to use -- I'm used to mpeg-4, but for some reason it is coming out all grainy/pixelated and I'm not sure if I need to adjust the settings. Also, once exported into a usable/high quality format, I need to burn a ntsc dvd but also a pal dvd -- I've burned pal dvds on dvd studio pro before and know adjusting the settings is just in preferences, but I'm assuming the video will need to be converted into a different kind of file. Or no?
    My sequence settings are 1440x1080 (16:9), quicktime video settings compressor hdv 1080i60. When I export as a quicktime file the conversion is great and no problems, but that isn't workable in dvd studio pro.
    I would appreciate any advice you could offer,
    Thank you,
    Tenzin

    Thank you, I'm trying that -- someone else just mentioned it needing to be an mpeg 2 file as well. The trouble I'm having now in compressor is it isn't converting when I press submit -- nothing is showing up in the batch monitor. I've tried this directly exporting from fcp using compressor, as well exporting quicktime from fcp and then using the quicktime file in compressor.
    I'm not used to using compressor so I'm thinking I am not doing something properly in this process? Thank you for the suggestions, they are reassuring. Do you know if the same file produced by compressor can be used for the pal dvd?

  • 64 bits question for mac pro users

    Hi,
    I am actually in the process of buying a new Mac Pro and I would like to know if someone here could help me to understand what's going on with the 64 bits mode thing on the mac pro.
    I have a mac pro 1,1. Now I am using SL, but ML is out for a while. I use Logic 9 and most of my plugins supports the 64 bits mode, but I am sticked to the 32 bits mode.
    First question: Is it right to think that going for 64 bits mode computer now will greatly improve the performances and internal memory management on Logic in 64 bits mode with plugins in 64 bits mode?
    Second question: Looking at the wiki page for the mac pro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_Pro#Specifications), I understand that the 5,1 model is fully 64 bits compatible, but what about the 3,1 and 4,1 models? Are they fully 64 bits compatible if they are upgraded to ML? Why is the kernel not 64 bits?
    I would like to buy a used mac pro, which would fit better in my budget right now. But, I am looking for better performances and a 64 bits mode of operation, and these are my priorities right now.
    Thanks for your time to help me.
    Martin

    Yes. And no.
    Use all 8 DIMM slots. Result = 17% boost over not.
    Use 667MHz 2GB DIMMs = 4% slower (not noticed real world, Barefeats also).
    Yes you can't use 8GB DDR3 etc.
    I thnk that the issues wtih ML and Lion, the issue witrh some PCIe cards not working, not being bootable, and that it was the first to try to implement the new EFI and SMC in 3 yrs - are bigger issues.
    And the cost of system even now is too high without taking into account: RAM, will I need to upgrade the video card it came with? before I can use it.
    Yes. Penny wise and pound foolish over 4 yrs old model now (will turn 5 in February) and was first booted by Intel in November 2007.

  • Some questions for class project? Trying to learn more about the iPhone

    Hey guys, I am looking for some quick feedback on the iPhone and possibly the iPad for a class assignment. If anyone could share information on the following questions that would be fantastic. Thanks!
    1. What are some of the disadvantages of Apple not providing Flash/USB for its products(iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch)?
    2. Why should customers buy an iPad (no USB) rather than the Kindle (USB ports)?
    3. Why do you think Apple doesn't provide Flash/USB ports to its products (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch)?
    4. Would the lack of USB/Flash in Apple products affect your decisions to purchase Apple products versus a competitor's product?
    5. Do you expect that Apple will begin to incorporate technologies such as USB/Flash in the future as competitor products begin to steal market share?
    6. Apple views Flash as a dying technology. Steve jobs has even compared not supporting Flash on the iPad to Apple dropping support for floppy drives. Do you believe there is any value to this analogy and why?
    7. What do you think could be some good aspects of no USB on the iPad?
    8. What affect will the implementation of HTML5 have on the issues with iPad's lacking Flash capabilities?
    9. How did you gain an interest in Apple how would you rate that product and would it it recieve a higher rating if it provided USB/Flash?
    10. Would you be more interested in purchasing a Apple product if USB use was provided? Or would this quality not have any affect on your decision to purchase the product?

    This sounds more like a marketing survey...
