_system.date() as a date object?

My system reports back _system.date() as mm/dd/yy which I
could easily parse but I understand that the system date format is
dependent on the user's OS, preference settings, language, mood ;-)
There’s got to be an easy way to get the system date as a
date object. I saw in an earlier post that OpenSpark has written a
bunch of cool calendar math routines but I need to start with
today’s date as a date object.

I use JavaScript syntax exclusively anymore, so I use the
JavaScript syntax Date object. It’s fairly robust and
x-platform. This is much like ensamblador’s use of the Flash
Date object. The Flash Date object and the JavaScript syntax Date
object are both implementations of ECMAScript 262, so it’s
one of those “six of one half dozen of the other”
situations. If you are scripting in Lingo then you would need to
create a Flash object and then instantiate a Date object in it. If
you’re scripting in JavaScript syntax then just use its
native Date object. When using the Date object you gotta remember
that the day of the week – dateObject.getDay() - and the
month - dateObject.getMonth() – are zero indexed... 0 =
Sunday, 0 = January etc. When I have to display day names or month
names I use arrays to store the names I want to display. Also,
hours are in 24 hour (military) time, so dateObject.getHours()
would return 16 at 4:27 pm. You can account for that by subtracting
12 from the returned Hours value if it is greater than 12.
function exitFrame(me)
var dObj = new Date();
var theHour = dObj.getHours();
var apendTime = " am";
var dayArray = new
Array("Sunday","Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday","Saturday");
var dateArray = new
Array("January","February","March","April","May","June","July","August","September","Octo ber","November","December");
var iText = member("infoText");
///// show the date textually
iText.text = dayArray[dObj.getDay()] + " " +
dateArray[dObj.getMonth()] + " " + dObj.getDate() + ", " +
dObj.getFullYear();
///// mm/dd/yyyy format
iText.text += "\n" + (dObj.getMonth() + 1) + "/" +
dObj.getDate() + "/" + dObj.getFullYear();
///// show the time like a digital clock
// 24 hour (military) time
iText.text += "\n" + theHour + dObj.getMinutes() + ":" +
dObj.getSeconds();
// civilian time
if (theHour > 12)
iText.text += "\n" + (theHour - 12);
apendTime = " pm";
} else {
iText.text += "\n" + theHour;
apendTime = " am";
// the minutes and seconds
iText.text += ":" + dObj.getMinutes() + ":" +
dObj.getSeconds() + apendTime;
_movie.go(_movie.frame);
}

    Hi,
    I think this problem remains unanswered.
    The issue behind this problem is, during parellel activation the child jobs acknowledge the parent job about status. If the child job takes long time to read data from active data table, then it times out and fails.
    Check the primary index on Active data table and it should be missing in your case. See the se11 index or db02 missing indexes. That is the reason that causes time out. Rebuild the primary index by asking your basis folks and repeat the activation. It should succeed.
    Thanks,
    Sri.

  • How to handle data in a request object

    I want to know the best way to handle data received from sql query to display on a jsp page and for page navigation. If I store data in a request object then the data is lost after displaying first page. When user hits Next link to view more data I need to do another query to database which I want to avoid. I display only 20 rows at a time. So if my query returns 100 rows I display 5 pages. I need to retain data when user hits next to view other pages. What is the best way to handle this?

  • Historic and Current data for Master data bearing objects

    Hi All,
    We are trying to implement type 2 dimensions for all the master data bearing characteristics, where we require historic and current data available for reporting. the master data can have a number of attributes and all of them can be time dependent. We are not getting any 'datefrom' or 'dateto' from the source system.
    For example:
    For Example: The table below shows data entering BI at different dates.
    Source Data day of entering BI
    MasterID ATTR1 ATTR2
    123506 Y REWAR day1
    123506 N REWAR day4
    123506 Y ADJUST day4
    123506 N ADJUST dayn
    The field 'day of entry into BI' is only for your understanding; we do not get any date fields from the source. SID is the field we are generating for uniqueness. It is a counter. EFF_DATE would be the current date for all the data. EXP_DATE would be 31.12.9999 until the attributes change. SID and MasterID together would be the key.
    On day 1 the following data enters BI,
    day 1
    SID MasterID ATTR1 ATTR2 EFF_DATE EXP_DATE
    1 123506 Y REWAR 2/10/2009 12/31/9999
    On day 4, 2 data records enter with same PID,
    SID MasterID ATTR1 ATTR2 EFF_DATE EXP_DATE
    2 123506 N REWAR 2/13/2009 12/31/9999
    3 123506 Y ADJUST 2/13/2009 12/31/9999
    the EXP_DATE of the record of day 1 needs to be changed to current date.
    Also there are two records entering, so latest record would have EXP_DATE as 31.12.9999. And the EXP_DATE of the first record on day 4 should change to the current date.
    so the following changes should happen,
    CHANGE
    SID MasterIDATTR1 ATTR2 EFF_DATE EXP_DATE
    1 123506 Y REWAR 2/10/2009 2/13/2009
    CHANGE
    SID MasterID ATTR1 ATTR2 EFF_DATE EXP_DATE
    3 123506 Y ADJUST 2/13/2009 2/22/2009
    On day n, one data record enters with same PID,
    SID MasterID ATTR1 ATTR2 EFF_DATE EXP_DATE
    4 123506 N ADJUST 2/22/2009 12/31/9999
    The change is ,
    CHANGE
    SID MasterID ATTR1 ATTR2 EFF_DATE EXP_DATE
    3 123506 Y ADJUST 2/13/2009 2/22/2009
    The data expected in P-table is as below, on Day n or after Day n, untill any other record enters for this MasterID,
    1 123506 Y REWAR 2/10/2009 2/13/2009
    2 123506 N REWAR 2/13/2009 2/13/2009
    3 123506 Y ADJUST 2/13/2009 2/22/2009
    4 123506 N ADJUST 2/22/2009 12/31/9999
    Has anyone worked on type 2 dimensions earlier? Or any ideas to implement this logic would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sudeepti

    Compound the Master ID with eff date and other attribute as superior objects
    so you will get P-table as
    ATTR1   ATTR2   MAT ID
    1 2/10/2009 2/13/2009 123506 Y REWAR
    2 2/13/2009 2/13/2009 123506 N REWAR
    3 2/13/2009 2/22/2009 123506 Y ADJUST
    4 2/22/2009 12/31/9999  123506 N ADJUST

  • Data federator in  business objects

    Hi,
    What is the use of data federator in business objects.
    Regards,
    G

    HI,
    The only option in this case is to 1) use Business Objects' Data Federator to bring XYZ data and BW (new) data together, 2) creating a relational universe, and 3) creating Crystal / WEBI reports using the relational universe; see Picture 1.
    >> You can also combine the data by using a MultiProvider in BW which is access the data in BW and the data in the legacy system and an additional alternative is to move all the data into BW.
    After 20 years goes by, and we no longer need to report on data housed in XYZ anymore, the environment will be turned off.
    1) When this happens, wouldn't we want to remove Data Federator and the relational universe from the scenario ?
    >> That depends on the approach you took

    Hi All,
    I am new to Web Channel.
    I need to know Date format From date of locale.
    suppose there is a date "01/25/2010" date in date field I want to get string "mm/dd/yyyy". Actually I have to pass date format to backend when I call RFC.
    Is there any way to get Date format from "Locale" object. I should get date format for local object
    I get local object from "UserSessionData" object but how to get Date format from it.
    I am not looking for Date value. I am looking for current local date format ("mm/dd/yyyy or dd/mm/yyyy or mon/dd/yyyy) whatever local date format.  I could not find example which show how to get date format from "Locale" object.
    Any help will be appreciated with rewards.
    Regards.
    Web Channel

    Hi,
    You can get it from "User" or "Shop" business object.
    Try to get User or Shop Business Object as shown below.
    BusinessObjectManager bom = (BusinessObjectManager) userSessionData.getBOM(BusinessObjectManager.ISACORE_BOM);
    User user = bom.getUser();
    char decimalNotation = user.getDecimalPointFormat().getGroupingSeparator();
    If you are seeing "1,234.00" then above code will return "."
    I hope this information help you to resolve your issue.

  • Difference b/w DATA TYPE and DATA OBJECT & differences b/w TYPE and LIKE

    hai
    can any one say the differences between Data type and Data Object.
    And also differences between TYPE and LIKE
    thanks
    Gani

    hi,
    _Data Types and Data Objects_
          Programs work with local program data – that is, with byte sequences in the working memory. Byte sequences that belong together are called fields and are characterized by a length, an identity (name), and – as a further attribute – by a data type. All programming languages have a concept that describes how the contents of a field are interpreted according to the data type.
          In the ABAP type concept, fields are called data objects. Each data object is thus an instance of an abstract data type. There are separate name spaces for data objects and data types. This means that a name can be the name of a data object as well as the name of a data type simultaneously.
    Data Types
       As well as occurring as attributes of a data object, data types can also be defined independently. You can then use them later on in conjunction with a data object. The definition of a user-defined data type is based on a set of predefined elementary data types. You can define data types either locally in the declaration part of a program using the TYPESstatement) or globally in the ABAP Dictionary. You can use your own data types to declare data objects or to check the types of parameters in generic operations.
         All programming languages distinguish between various types of data with various uses, such as ….. type data for storing or displaying values and numerical data for calculations. The attributes in question are described using data types. You can define, for example, how data is stored in the repository, and how the ABAP statements work with the data.
    Data types can be divided into elementary, reference, and complex types.
    a. Elementary Types
    These are data types of fixed or variable length that are not made up of other types.
    The difference between variable length data types and fixed length data types is that the length and the memory space required by data objects of variable length data types can change dynamically during runtime, and that these data types cannot be defined irreversibly while the data object is being declared.
    Predefined and User-Defined Elementary Data Types
    You can also define your own elementary data types in ABAP using the TYPES statement. You base these on the predefined data types. This determines all of the technical attributes of the new data type. For example, you could define a data type P_2 with two decimal places, based on the predefined data type P. You could then use this new type in your data declarations.
    b.  Reference Types
    Reference types are deep data types that describe reference variables, that is, data objects that contain references. A reference variable can be defined as a component of a complex data object such as a structure or internal table as well as a single field.
    c. Complex Data Types
    Complex data types are made up of other data types. A distinction is made here between structured types and table types.
    Data Objects
          Data objects are the physical units with which ABAP statements work at runtime. The contents of a data object occupy memory space in the program. ABAP statements access these contents by addressing the name of the data object and interpret them according to the data type.. For example, statements can write the contents of data objects in lists or in the database, they can pass them to and receive them from routines, they can change them by assigning new values, and they can compare them in logical expressions.
           Each ABAP data object has a set of technical attributes, which are fully defined at all times when an ABAP program is running (field length, number of decimal places, and data type). You declare data objects either statically in the declaration part of an ABAP program (the most important statement for this is DATA), or dynamically at runtime (for example, when you call procedures). As well as fields in the memory area of the program, the program also treats literals like data objects.
            A data object is a part of the repository whose content can be addressed and interpreted by the program. All data objects must be declared in the ABAP program and are not persistent, meaning that they only exist while the program is being executed. Before you can process persistent data (such as data from a database table or from a sequential file), you must read it into data objects first. Conversely, if you want to retain the contents of a data object beyond the end of the program, you must save it in a persistent form.
    Declaring Data Objects
          Apart from the interface parameters of procedures, you declare all of the data objects in an ABAP program or procedure in its declaration part. These declarative statements establish the data type of the object, along with any missing technical attributes. This takes place before the program is actually executed. The technical attributes can then be queried while the program is running.
         The interface parameters of procedures are generated as local data objects, but only when the procedure is actually called. You can define the technical attributes of the interface parameters in the procedure itself. If you do not, they adopt the attributes of the parameters from which they receive their values.
    ABAP contains the following kinds of data objects:
    a.  Literals
    Literals are not created by declarative statements. Instead, they exist in the program source code. Like all data objects, they have fixed technical attributes (field length, number of decimal places, data type), but no name. They are therefore referred to as unnamed data objects.
    b.  Named Data Objects
    Data objects that have a name that you can use to address the ABAP program are known as named objects. These can be objects of various types, including text symbols, variables and constants.
    Text symbols are pointers to texts in the text pool of the ABAP program. When the program starts, the corresponding data objects are generated from the texts stored in the text pool. They can be addressed using the name of the text symbol.
    Variables are data objects whose contents can be changed using ABAP statements. You declare variables using the DATA, CLASS-DATA, STATICS, PARAMETERS, SELECT-OPTIONS, and RANGESstatements.
    Constants are data objects whose contents cannot be changed. You declare constants using the CONSTANTSstatement.
    c.  Anonymous Data  Objects
    Data objects that cannot be addressed using a name are known as anonymous data objects. They are created using the CREATE DATAstatement and can be addressed using reference variables.
    d.  System-Defined Data Objects
    System-defined data objects do not have to be declared explicitly - they are always available at runtime.
    e.  Interface Work Areas
    Interface work areas are special variables that serve as interfaces between programs, screens, and logical databases. You declare interface work areas using the TABLES and NODESstatements.
    What is the difference between Type and Like?
    Answer1:
    TYPE, you assign datatype directly to the data object while declaring.
    LIKE,you assign the datatype of another object to the declaring data object. The datatype is referenced indirectly.
    Answer2:
    Type is a keyword used to refer to a data type whereas Like is a keyword used to copy the existing properties of already existing data object.
    Answer3:
    type refers the existing data type
    like refers the existing data object

  • Breaking up data in a remote object

    Currently I have a chart that gets its data using a remote
    object connection. The chart currently shows a months worth of
    data. Now I need to break that monthly data into weekly data. The
    customer would rather have the data spread acroos four weekly
    charts instead of just one monthly chart. The customer would then
    just click click a 'Next' or 'Previous' button to cycle through the
    charts.
    I know that I just change the function (CFC) that calls for
    the data to only return a weeks worth of data, but I don't want to
    make a separate data call every time the user clicks 'Next' or
    'Previous'
    Is there a way to grab the whole month's data set and then
    divide it into weekly data sets within the app?

    Okay I figured this one out. If I add a hSlider with two
    thumbs I can set the thumbs with just a couple of functions.
    Basically when the user clicks either button a function is called
    that passes in a predetermined value of how many tick marks to
    move.
    The HSlider has a property called 'values' that holds the
    positions of all the thumbs. Using some simple functions they can
    easily be manipulated.
    Setting the slider's visible property to 'false' will keep
    the navigation focused on just the buttons.

  • How to Insert the System Date in the entity object

    Hello,
    I have the problem - in entity object I have one attribute as 'Created_Date' in the <entity>Impl.java,
    to this attribute I want to assign the value as a System Date. Could someone please let me know how to do this?
    Thanks

    Hint for all who are trying another solution. You might think it's easier to assign a SystemDate using this method:row.setDate(new Timestamp(System.currentTimeMillis())); But unfortunately this solution has a real gotcha! Doing this you are writing an Attribute with a precision of milliseconds. Unfortunately the SQL-Date type can hold only full seconds. So this solution sometimes leads to the Problem that BC4J complains that "someon else has changed the row" (in reality the database has simply stripped off the seconds).
    Even if you are trying to convert the Timestamp to an oracle.jbo.domain.Date like this Date myDate = new Timestamp(System.currentTimeMillis()));
    row.setDate(myDate); you will not be able to solve the problem. 'myDate' still holds the milliseconds, it only doesn't display them. You might still discover that BC4J complains for modified rows.
    So the solution given by Faraz is definitively the best solution, even if it looks complicated, as it strips off the milliseconds.

  • How to execute Custom java data source LOV view object from a common mthd?

    Hi,
    My application contains Custom java data source implemented LOVs. I want to have a util method which gets the view accessor name, find the view accessor and execute it. But i couldn't find any API to get the view accessors by passing the name.
    Can anyone help me iin how best view accessors can be accessed in common but no by creating ViewRowImpl class (By every developer) and by accessing the RowSet getters?
    Thanks in advance.

    I am sorrry, let me tell my requirement clearly.
    My application is not data base driven. Data transaction happens using tuxedo server.
    We have entity driven VOs as well as programmatic VOs. Both are custom java data source implemented. Entity driven VOs will participate in transactions whereas programmatic VOs are used as List view object to show List of values.
    Custom java datasource implementation in BaseService Viewobject Impl class looks like
            private boolean callService = false;
        private List serviceCallInputParams = null;
        public BaseServiceViewObjectImpl()
            super();
         * Overridden for custom java data source support.
        protected void executeQueryForCollection(Object qc, Object[] params, int noUserParams)
            List dataFromService = null;
            if(callService)
                callService = retrieveDataFromService(serviceCallInputParams);
            setUserDataForCollection(qc, dataFromService != null? dataFromService.iterator(): null);
            super.executeQueryForCollection(qc, params, noUserParams);
         * Overridden for custom java data source support.
        protected boolean hasNextForCollection(Object qc)
            Iterator<BaseDatum> datumItr = (Iterator<BaseDatum>) getUserDataForCollection(qc);
            if (datumItr != null && datumItr.hasNext())
                return true;
            callService = false;
            serviceCallInputParams = null;
            setFetchCompleteForCollection(qc, true);
            return false;
        }Individual screen developer, who want to load data to VO, will do something like the below code in their VO impl class
        public void fetch()
            BaseServiceViewObjectImpl vo = this;
            vo.setCallService(true);
            vo.setServiceCallInputParams(new ArrayList());
            vo.executeQuery();
        }As these custom java data source implemented LOV VOs comes across the screens, i want to have a util method at Base VOImpl class, that gets the view accessor name, finds the LOV VO instance, retrieves data for that. I want to do something like
         * Wrapper method available at Base Service ViewObject impl class
        public void fetchLOVData(String viewAccessorName, List serviewInputParams)
            // find the LOV View object instance
            BaseServiceViewObjectImpl lovViewObject  = (BaseServiceViewObjectImpl) findViewAccessor(viewAccessorName);
            // Get data for LOV view object from service
            lovViewObject.setCallService(true);
            lovViewObject.setServiceCallInputParams(serviewInputParams);
            lovViewObject.executeQuery();
    Question:
    1. Is it achievable?
    1. Is there any API available at View Object Impl class level, that gets the view accessor name and returns the exact LOV view object instance? If not, how can i achieve it?

  • Data types and Data object

    Can Any one give me Clear definition of Data type and Data objects.
    Concept i know clearly.. but unable to explain it..

    Data consists of strings of bytes in the memory area of the program. A string of related bytes is called a field. Each field has an identity (a name) and a data type. All programming languages have a concept that describes how the contents of a field are interpreted according to the data type.
             In the ABAP type concept, fields are called data objects. Each data object is an instance of an abstract data type. Data types in ABAP are not just attributes of fields, but can be defined in their own right. There are separate name spaces for data objects and data types. This means that a name can at the same time be the name of a data   object as well as the name of a data type.
    <b>Data Types:</b>
                     As well as occurring as attributes of a data object, data types can also be defined independently. The definition of a user-defined data type is based on a set of predefined elementary data types. You can define data types either locally in the declaration part of a program (using the TYPES statement) or globally in the ABAP Dictionary. You can use your own data types to declare data objects or to check the types of parameters in generic operations.
             Data types can be divided into elementary, reference, and complex types
    <b>Data objects:</b>
                      Data objects are the physical units with which ABAP statements work at runtime. Each ABAP data object has a set of technical attributes, which are fully defined at all times when an ABAP program is running. The technical attributes of a data object are its length, number of decimal places, and data type. ABAP statements work with the contents of data objects and interpret them according to their data type. You declare data objects either statically in the declaration part of an ABAP program (the most important statement for this is DATA), or dynamically at runtime (for example, when you call procedures). As well as fields in the memory area of the program, the program also treats literals like data objects.
    ABAP contains the following kinds of data objects
      Literals
       Named Data Objects
      Predefined Data Objects
      Dynamic Data Objects
