No asset was archived for AM_ASSET OBJECT

Hi Experts,
I am new to SAP and Data Archiving.
Please help me.
What should be the residence time for AM_ASSET object.
and If I try to archive AM_ASSET with residence time as 0 or blank. In job log i am getting d message "no asset was archived". what should be d reason?

If you are new to SAP and archiving then you should start with the docu which can be found help.sap.com
the easiest way to get to the documentation is to use the archiving object name
e.g. in Google just enter
AM_ASSET site:help.sap.com
Once you open such a link like Archiving FI Asset Data (FI-AA) - Financial Accounting (FI) - SAP Library
then you can find the general introduction for data archiving as the first entry in the navigation menu on the left.
This keeps you already busy for some hours (or days, if you take the chance to test what you read)
This object specific documentation has as well sections which talk about prerequisites and residence times.
In any case, before you carry out an archiving job, you should make sure that you have the most recent OSS notes with bug fixes in your system. Archiving is something final, there is not much you can do if the data is gone. So go to the service.sap.com/notes site and search again with the archiving object and read those notes and decide which one needs to be in your system. Among them you will find plenty of information to get a deep understanding about archiving in general and for this specific object. Some are in dedicated consulting notes, other are just as explanation next to bug fixes.
And if you execute an archiving job as a beginner, then always use the detailed log to get full information. Remember a job log is related to the technical execution of the job, the log with the error messages from archiving is found in the spool file to the job.

Data archiving for Write Optimized DSO

Hi Gurus,
I am trying to archive data in Write Optimized DSO.
Its allowing me to archive on request basis but it archives entire requests in the DSO(Means all data).
But i want to select to archive from this request to this request.(Selection of request by my own).
Please guide me.
I got the below details from SDN.Kindly check.
Archiving for Write optimized DSOs follow request based archiving as opposed to time slice archiving in standard DSO. This means that partial request activation is not possible; only complete requests have to be archived.
Characteristic for Time Slice can be a time characteristic present in the WDSO, or the request creation data/request loading date. You are not allowed to add additional infoobjects for semantic groups, default is 0REQUEST & 0DATAPAKID.
The actual process of archiving remains the same i.e
Create a Data Archiving Process
Create and schedule archiving requests
Restore archiving requests (optional)

               my client needs to archive Data in SAP 8.8 each year having only 1 year completed.Can we archive data
               less than 3 year?

There will not be any technical problem if the archiving is done as per the instructions set by SAP (I suggest you go through DATA Archiving Session from SAP), What I meant was that any data which is less than 3 year old may still be considered as new data and if this is archived you are left with no choice to modify anything in this data as this becomes read-only. If the client is looking for extra space on server by Data Archiving you can suggest other step as well . Again as I said it is the client's call afterall.

Data collection for cost object hierarchy - no data at order level!

Hi everyone,
When using transaction KKP6 to see my hierarchy for cost object, the system displays all the values that are allocated on my hierarchy nodes, but I do not have the values that should come from the production orders (repetitive manufacturing with production version).
I use transaction KKRZ to collect data for cost object hierarchy, but it seems that the system does not retrieve any information from the orders.
Would someone know about this point customizing steps to follow to retrieve my orders values?

Hi Amadeus,
To do so, I have used transaction OKZ5 in the customizing and ticked "always cost object hierarchy" and "distribution".
By doing so, you enable the system to distribute costs within a cost hierarchy. Otherwise the system will only determine costs on the hierarchy.
Try this, it may work for you as well. During your period-end closing, you sould now use "cost object hierarchy" instead of product cost collector.

Implementing Data Search for Custom Objects

I am looking to modify the drop down values and search criteria based on custom data model.

The following configuration activity might resolve your query.
Transaction: mdgimg.
General Settings> UI Modelling> Define Field Properties for UI. Select your custom data model and go to "Hide Field Names."
For the fields of the entity type, you don't want to come up in the search UI, check on "No selection".
"No Selection" : These wouldn't come up as search Criteria. "No Results List": These won't come up in final result list.

Data Authorization for info-objects

Dear Experts,
We have designed a query in costing displaying the plan and actual costs by cost center. Our requirement is that that users shoul be able to see only those cost centers in the query which are relevant to them? How can I acheive this without creating multiple queries?. Regarding data integrity for XI file/jdbc adapter

I have several questions about XI data integrity for file/jdbc adapter.
Question 1 is: if the destinate file or DB is not reachable or other technical problems occur, do I have to send the message again or not?
Usually we design an bpm to comfirm whether the database or file is completed according to a response message. But it's a little complicated.
Question 2:when I use jdbc send adapter and configure select and update SQL clauses. Does XI only update the records which it select automatically? or Select and Update don;t have any relationship?
Very appreciated if you have any experience to share me.

If the DB is not reachable then message will be found in the inbound side. you can found them in the adapter. Goto RWB -> Message monitoring -> select status System error and search . there you will find your messages. select you message and resend them

XI never does updation automatically, Update is done only based on the SQL update query which you have written in the sender channel.
SELECT statement is used just to pick the values from the table and based upon the query which you want to UPDATE in SQL . data is updated

Data Archival for Custom Tables

Hi Experts,
We have a requirement of archiving the related custom tables while we archive the standard SAP tables data. We are going a head with creating the custom archiving objects to handle this. However, i would like to know about the feature of "Exit routine assignement in generation" in the standard Archiving objects (AOBJ). Can this be used to handle custom tables data? If yes, can you please provide me an example how this can be acheived? If not, what is the purpose of this?

Hello Lavaughn,
I can not speak for SAP, but from my personal experience TimeStamps are the state of the art to store time date info in db tables. Even with date/Time fields a conversion to the local timezone is necessary. Of course you can reuse your db definition on dynpros. But since UI and business logic will be divided anyway this is also not really a valid point.

Changing Data Source for command objects

Hi,
My report (designed in CR 10) is running based on the Stored Procedure call using a command object; which is running successfully in the DEV environment. The report data source connectivity is a DSN.
Now i want to switch it to QA environment with different DSN name. When i tried to update the Change Data Source option, it doesn't allows to update the existing command with a new command!!!!
I don't know how to fix this. Could any one of you have idea, pls. share it here???

If you have same table structure in new data source then you can change the datasource connection.

5. Ensure the connection is highlighted for the command object in the top window, and the connection is highlighted for the new command object in the bottom window.
6. Click Update.
The database connection for the command object now changes to use the new database connection information.

Data attributes for PO objects

Hi Guruus,
I'm trying to find in all the PO objects where the screen data are filled in the data attributes. For instance, the attribute PO_ITEM_HASH_TABLE from CL_PO_ITEM_HANDLE_MM seems to hold the data. But I'd like to find exactly where it's filled in, and I can(t find out. It's just used in methodes GET_DATA and SET_DATA, and the constructor seems not to explicitly fill it.
Actually, my requirement is to get a custom Account Assigment element from stocked orders. That's mean that FI account assigment elements are not displayed, just FM's if you've set them in customizing. (the Account Assigment category in PO line is blank).
Note that I have created a new account assignment element within structure CI_COBL using FI customizing.
I've found a way to display my element somewhere near the display of the FM account assigment elements, but the value user enters is not sent to PAI. It looks like because it's not in the PO_ITEM_HASH_TABLE attribute.

Well, none answered, but I've solved my issue. Thanks to some Customer Structure Appends and some enhancements, now I have my new account assignment element in PO, without any standard modifications
