System.log: Twainbridge crashing

I have a Canon scanner, it works fine, but: when I look at the logs in systemprofile, I get the following log:
system.log:
Beschrijving: Logbestand systeemevents
Grootte: 214.42 KB
Laatst gewijzigd: 15-11-05 11:15
Locatie: /var/log/system.log
Recente inhoud: ...

Nov 15 11:11:42 ka230601691 crashdump[1705]: crash report written to: /Users/EMac/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/TWAINBridge.crash.log, etc.
I'm using OS10.4.3
Anyone familiar with this?

Same for me with my Canoscan, I use 10.4.4 and everytime I switch on the scanner, I get a TwainBridge Crash Report as follows:

I use the most recent Driver version provided by Canon and already contacted them, but they said, it's not their problem.

  • System.log after crash

I recently had my macbook pro repaired by applecare. For three years the computer was crashing whenever i played world of warcraft. after receiving it back form apple they had replaced the logic board, 2 fans and two thermal sensor cables. The game and everything else worked like a charm for the past two days... right now, however, all hardware cut out.. couldn't move the mouse, keyboard wouldn't respond.. but i was still receiving instant messengers. finally everything froze and i had to power down.. here is what the sysem.log file said. any ideas?

  • MB Pro Crashed after 10.6.6 update. No Boot. System Log attached

    Hi all,
    I hope anyone can help.
I updated to 10.6.6 this weekend. At the end of the patch instalation, it was mentioned that "an error occurred during the install".
After that I have not been able to boot again. The computer remains freezed in they grey screen with the whirling circle.
I have tried "Safe Boot", and it freezes too. I have also unplugged all the accesories, reseted PRAM, verified hardware, repaired permissions and disk and nothing worked. All seemed ok in the verifications and the repairments.
All I have been able to do is boot from the OS X instalation disk or in Single user mode.
I have been examining the system.log and is it full os errors and crashes from the update.
I have repaired most info in the Laptop, excepting some in personal folders which are ciphered. I would not like to lose the ciphered data, and I have not backup from this.
The system was cleanly last formatted and installed in june in 2010. Since then all updates have been applied without problem
Here is an extract from the last boot attempt.
Please, can anybody help with any suggestion???

I had this happen after my Macbook froze during an update. Evidently the old version of the CommerceKit framework was removed but the new one was not yet installed. I fixed it by copying the framework from another Mac to a USB drive, booting in single user mode, and copying the files into place. Here are step by step instructions:
    1. Find another Mac, preferably with as similar OS X version as possible. Both the ones I used were on 10.6.7, and I have no idea if this will work between different versions.
    2. Run Terminal, and type:
    cd /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks
    tar -cvf ~/Desktop/ck.tar CommerceKit.framework
    3. Copy the ck.tar file from the desktop to the USB drive, then eject the drive
    4. Boot the affected Mac in single user mode. At startup, hold down command-S
    5. Once you get a command prompt, type:
    fsck -fy
    mount -uw /
    mkdir /Volumes/USB
    mount -t msdos /dev/disk1s1 /Volumes/USB
    cd /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks
    tar -xvf /Volumes/USB/ck.tar
    umount /Volumes/USB
    exit
If all goes well, OS X should start up and you'll be good to go.
If your Mac has more disks (or a CD inserted, etc.) you may need to use a different device than /dev/disk1s1. Type "ls /dev/disk*" to see your choices.

  • HELP!!!!!!  CRASHES and understand SYSTEM.LOG messages

My G5 have problems (hangs, freeze an kernel panics) with Panther and now with Tiger the same problems after install and erase HD, and I supose that MY PROBLEM IS HARDWARE, NOT SOFT. I disconect the second HD and unplug the RAM and test and work on my G5.
In System.log I can see this messages after a few time (2 - 5 hours of several works in Photoshop):

  • Total lock-ups with fan running - translate system.log file please!?

Hi, all. My late 2005 2.3 gig dual G5 has been experiencing random lock ups for as long as I can remember. My system is up to date and I have tested each pair of the 5 gigs of ram that I have and the system freezes with each pair. It can happen at any time, when I am doing absolutely nothing, for example, overnight. I am at my wits end!
Here's the system log file for the latest freezes. Can anyone tell me what's going on here??? I really need to get to the root of this problem. Thanks so so much in advance.

    Hi-
The machine seems to be having trouble with loading certain drivers, but, as this isn't a crash log, and doesn't show the "hang-up" or freeze, it's hard to tell.
    Noted possibilities are:
-Microsoft keyboard (possible USB power problem)
-firmtek driver (from archive) questionable due to the "archive" annotation
-Wacom tablet driver, causing system problems
Running in Safe mode without freezes would help to determine if one of these drivers is the problem.
Other possibilities are outdated drivers, or simply a need to reinstall the OS.
If unnecessary, removing the driver(s) would be a good idea.
External USB and Firewire devices are all suspect, should all be disconnected, revert to Apple keyboard, and test system performance. Adding one device at a time, and testing each will be necessary to clear each device.
I have experienced system trouble when a Wacom tablet was not connected, but the driver was left installed.
Disabling the driver from Startup items may be necessary to test without the Wacom tablet connected.

  • Strange System Log Entry

The following sequence keeps repeating every few seconds in the System Log. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it is all about? It appears to be referring to a Python script, but we have not "knowingly" executed any.

Okay - I also noticed this same issue as propably many others - did little study and found out the reason.
First of all - these should be standard locations, but let's make sure. I found out that wikid keeps it settings in /etc/wikid/wikid.conf - From error messages I checked source of last mention before process ended. Not pasting anything to here, I usually use PHP or C and try to stay away from python but I was able to make something out. Assert is a function that makes a test agains something, if this test's result is true (if I remember my studies right, I rarely use assert) it exits process. Why? Sometimes when programs start they need to make certain checks to avoid crashing - crashing isn't nice..
Anyway, test was for existency of directory where logfile(s) are kept. From same or another source file I also found out about location /etc/wikid, I ofcourse could had checked it from there in the first place, but I liked to follow the code a bit.. There I found file wikid.plist, opened it - a long conf file and finally there it was - logfile(s) are kept in location:
    /Library/Logs/wikid
I created this directory and restarted, everything wasn't okay yet, as rights for that directory were incorrect. So I checked com.apple.wikid in LaunchDaemons and found out it runs as user _teamsserver and gid _teamsserver. So I changed rights for that uid and gid and everything was working after that.
Here's what you need to do in terminal to get it working:
    #sudo mkdir /Library/Logs/wikid
    #sudo chown -R teamsserver:teamsserver /Library/Logs/wikid
Then just restart wikid, there you go. This was my first post and I just created account for this.
Can be marked as SOLVED but 10.5.2 should make sure this directory gets created - either when ever it's missing and wikid is started, or just a empty dir created while upgrading to 10.5.2

hope that gives you a starting point. you can also copy one of those lines and pop it into google.

  • Lots of system log messages from nsurlstoraged, also systemstatsd

I'm running Yosemite (10.10.2) on an old Mini (details below).  I am not having particular problems with slowness, crashes, etc., but I'm seeing repeated messages in the System Log which seem to be errors:
nsurlstoraged[300]: ERROR: shrinkDB - shrink of file system cache did not fully complete.  Result: 11
    systemstatsd[1286]: assertion failed: 14C1514: systemstatsd + 3283 [A886B71F-3A31-3324-9B30-5143FDF4ECCB]: 0xb
For at least the past 2 days, the systemstatsd messages have the exact same values.  When the computer is in active use, I get 2 of them every 3 to 4 minutes.
The nsurlstoraged messages are a little more frequent but don't have such a clear pattern.  Some other messages from that source which are interspersed with the above message include the following:
nsurlstoraged[1263]: realpath() returned NULL for /var/root/Library/Caches/ocspd
nsurlstoraged[1263]: The read-connection to the DB=/var/root/Library/Caches/ocspd/Cache.db is NOT valid.  Unable to determine schema version.
nsurlstoraged[1263]: ERROR: unable to determine file-system usage for FS-backed cache at /var/root/Library/Caches/ocspd/fsCachedData. Errno=13
Should I be concerned about resolving these, or can I just ignore them?  I did run the string of commands provided in the forum by Linc which are intended to reset the privileges on everything in my home directory to the default values, and I also ran the password reset process via the recovery partition to reset the ACLs.
Just a few quick notes about my system:
    - the volume My Mac system (external) is not the system or boot disk.  It has most of my image files (including iPhoto libraries) plus the iTunes Media folder.  I did not run any commands there to reset file/directory permissions.
    - the volume Macintosh HD is the system disk and contains my home directory.
    - I am planning to upgrade from to 4 GB to 8 GB RAM.
Thanks very much for any insight into these messages!
    Dave

I switched over to an early 2008 20-inch iMac (booting from same external disk) and the "ERROR:shrink DB" and "assertion failed" messages are continuing, so I doubt that it is related to the hardware unless it's the external drive itself or the Firewire cable.
    Any help would be appreciated...

  • System preferences keeps crashing

    Bit of a problem here
In system preferences on my iMac under the users & groups option i'm trying to change the login options from list of users to automatic login
Everytime i try to select the name for automatic login system prefs keeps crashing & i cant change it
I am trying to set up OS x Server on my iMac but ive uninstalled i'm still learning & i'm going through a tutorial from a book
I have looked at a few threads already & ive tried running a couple of apps called maintainance & onyx ive also repaired permissions on disk utility
I have also tried removing the system preferences plists as someone mentioned on another thread
Anyone had a similar problem & found a solution
I can copy & paste the crash file if needed
Please dont say i have to reinstall the OS
    Thank you

    Hi Mende1

  • System Preferences will Crash then Load

I have been getting this issue for some time and have been trying many troubleshoots to fix this issue.
Here is a step by step process of what happens...
    1. Boot Up Computer
    2. Open System Preferences
    3. After 3 Minutes of trying to open, it crashes.
    4. I try to open it again, opens within 1-2 seconds.
System Preferences only crashes the first time of opening after booting up. Can any of you help? Any help will be much appreciated.

Since the issue is specific to your original user account, you can proceed in two ways. One is to log into your new account, make a list of the preference files (plists) located in /username/Library/Preferences/, including any in the ByHost subfolder, log back into the original account, move everything on that other account's list from the original account's Preferences folder into a newly created folder on the Desktop, log out and back in, and see if the problem goes away. If so, you can copy the ones in the Desktop folder (one at time) back into /Preferences/, restart, and see if the problem returns. If so, you've identified the corrupt/conflicting one. Continue with all of them until isolating the bad ones. That'll save you the trouble of resetting preferences.
The second way is much more detailed and I'll not burden you with the steps unless the above doesn't fix the issue.

  • Network Pane causes System Preference to Crash

An unusual problem has cropped up on my Black Macbook 2 GHz machine. Everytime I click on the Network Pane it causes the system preferences to crash.
I've tried everything from rebuilding the permissions, to deleting certain pref files.
I thought I had fixed it the other day when I rebuilt the permissions, but the problem came back 24 hours later?
Has anybody else experienced this problems?
    Thanks
    T

arg..... tried everything you suggested and didn't work. The weird thing is I can sort of make it work. If I reboot and load system preferences before everything seems to finish loading it works if not it craps out, even after successfully booting it and then restarting it. Here's my activity log. I've pretty much have killed everything I recognize and with the exception of timbuktu that's about all I can see: MenuCal's I've already killed once and that did nothing so it's back in there.

  • Xserve deliver filling up system.log

Just checked my system.log after a hard crash and it seems to be constantly filling up with the following:
Dec 18 15:33:23 xserve deliver[24559]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory
Dec 18 15:33:23 xserve deliver[24560]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory
Dec 18 15:33:23 xserve deliver[24561]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory
Dec 18 15:33:23 xserve deliver[24562]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory
Dec 18 15:33:23 xserve deliver[24563]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory
Dec 18 15:33:23 xserve deliver[24564]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory
Dec 18 15:33:23 xserve deliver[24565]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory
Dec 18 15:33:23 xserve deliver[24566]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory
Dec 18 15:33:23 xserve deliver[24567]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory
Dec 18 15:33:23 xserve deliver[24569]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory
Since I see the words 'deliver' and 'imap' in there I assume it's mailserver related, however we do not have our xserve's mailserver activated.
Any ideas on what's causing these logs? Ordinarily I wouldn't worry, but it seems to be writing many many lines per second so surely something's not right.
    Thanks in advance
    Si

This typically happens when the system is trying to send alert messages of some kind. It can happen if you have notifications turned on in the server monitor app, or if you have other tools trying to send system messages.
You can go into your /etc/mail/aliases file and make sure someone is configured to receive mail sent to root (uncomment the line and add the your email address in place of 'you').
Then make sure that mail service on your Xserve (where you're seeing the messages) is turned on and allows mail relay from localhost. Additionally, you can configure mail service to route all mail through your real mailserver. But you don't need to configure or allow inbound mail, since you won't need it.

  • EEM policy: Syslog ED & logging Discriminator = Crash

    Hi everyone!
I found a new bug in cisco IOS 15.1(4)M3 when running EEM script with syslog event detector.
If system logging performed using the "logging discriminator" and run concurrently EEM script with syslog event detector, then Cisco router crash and goes to reboot.
    Cisco ISR G2 3925E.

  • System.log flooding  - strange loop every 10sec.

Unfortunately for us, we decided to update the computers in our office to 10.5.
Among other problems our server has become unstable - it has spontaneusly crashed twice in two weeks.
I tried to find the reason by looking at logs and I found it quite difficult since now a couple of processes are for some reason looping all the time and flooding the system logs.
Can someone tell what this means? Something about MySql but we aren't supposed to running any as I know...

It seems pretty clear that mysql is trying to load, but failing for some reason ('Too many arguments').
I doubt that's the cause of your instability, but it's easy to stop MySQL from loading. Open a terminal window and run:
    sudo launchctl unload -w org.mysql.mysqld
Hopefully that'll clear up the logs and make it easier to spot the issue.

  • FaceTime warning in system.log (during heavy buffering) receivedNoPacketsForCallID

OSX 10.8 to OSX 10.9.1 Facetime, both external Logitech 9000 cam.
Heavy buffering, broken connections, retry, freezing, sound dropping.
Plenty bandwith (60/6 at one side at least, other side no measured but fast connection over ethernet)
At every video freeze thes lines in system.log:

This is a Mac 9.1 (late 2009) 2.66 CoreDuo, so not the fastest, but with 4Gb DDR3 should not be problem.
Even with all apps/bowsers/windows closed no improvement.
Not sure when this started getting this bad, has been just a few weeks i think.
Internal cam doesn't do any better.
Would switch to google chat but that has a dreadfull distorted  echo.
The only thing i can find on the web on this system.log warning is the sourcecode..
Anyone know anything about this issue?

    Whew.
I'm glad you had the spare supply; I usually recommend "trying before buying" anything, unless, of course, one has lots of cash to blow.
I also wanted to tell you that, if your 2.03 driver method doesn't work, try this:
Go to Start, Run, type in MSCONFIG, press Enter, press the Services tab, check the Hide All Microsoft Services box, press the Disable All button, select the Startup tab, press the Disable All button, Apply, OK, and Restart.
After the reboot, try your games again, and see what happens. If everything's ok, then go back and enable the startup services one at a time, and try playing again until you find the offending service. If all is ok, do the same with the Services tab, until you find the offending Service.
(I spent hours online with Microsoft on this a couple of months ago, and this method found that the intermittent crashing problem was caused by one of the nVidia services.)
So far, I have had four causes of this type of problem (BSOD, spontaneous reboot, freezing):
    1) Corrupted OS/driver
    2) Poor power
    3) Bad RAM
    4) Startup Service
Of course, #1 and #4 don't cost anything but time and effort to fix, and should be tried first, unless anything is grossly wrong, like an underrated supply, and/or ram which won't pass memtest, which one should replace anyway. (I've got a lifetime warranty on the RAM, and only had to return it for replacement.) So the only thing that cost me to repair this problem completely was the replacement of the PSU, and it was the very last thing I did.
Were I to do it over again, I would have replaced the PSU before I actually put the replacement RAM in, because I risked damaging the new RAM (and the old stick too) with my old 300W supply. (However, I was on a severe cost restriction which influenced my decision, making the "free fixes" the priority.)
    Hope this helps.
