System Monitoring: Navigation to Satellite System
Hello All,
I have configured System Monitoring.
In SolMan -> Monitoring Graphic -> I check Alerts
Now, for some Alerts itallows me to click the Alert and navigate to that particular Transaction in Satellite System. The Alert itself is a Link(Blue Font)
For Others it is not allowing me to navigate to that particular Transaction in Satellite System. The Alert is a Black Bold Font
Why so?
Thanks!
Hello SALPG ADMIN ,
I can confirm that the alerts appearing in black blod letters are having no problems, it is just representing a different MTE.
As you know every alert in the System Monitoring Graphic of SAP Solution Manager is just mapping the data from the corresponding Monitoring Tree Element (MTE) in the CCMS, transaction RZ20.
The alerts that you see without link, not in blue colour but in black & bold lettters, are corresponsing to MTEs that do not have any Analysis Method assigned in RZ20, and therefore, there is no transaction on the satellite system that you can check to display more details for the alert.
On the other hand, the Alerts in the graphic that have blue colour, are mappping MTEs which do have an Analysis Method assigned in RZ20, and when you click on the link, you just trigger this Analysis Method and jump into the monitored system, in the respective Analysis Transaction; for example, for update error alert, you would jump into SM13.
You can just prove this if you got o RZ20 and check the porpertied of the MTEs that you see in the Graphic.
I hope this clarifies your question,
With kind regards,
Marta

Solution Manager System Monitoring for non SAP system
Dear Support,
I have configured the CCMS Agent (SAPCCMSR) for non-SAP system (Windows 2008R2).
The system information (e.g. CPU, Memory, Disks etc) has already showed in RZ20 of Central Monitoring system (e.g. Solution Manager).
How can I do to configure to display these information in the Alert Inbox tab on System Monitoring Workcenter?
Best regards,
Fan HungHi,
Have you defined and added corresponding logical systems for the respective satellite systems?
Here is the sequence of steps you've to do:
in SMSY:
1) Define server, DB, Systems
2) Generate READ, TMW, TRUSTED RFCs to the satellite systems
3) define logical systems and assign the satellite system to it
in Solution_Manager:
1) define new solution
2) add the logical system into the solution
If these steps are successful, you should be able to see the satellite system in SYSTEM MONITORING in Solution_Manager.
Have you already done these steps?
After performing these steps:
Solution_Manager>choose relevant solution>operations setup>Solution Monitoring>System monitoring>Activate monitoring> choose the system and activate monitoring.
Your system will then appear.

System Monitoring setup: missing database
I would like to set up System monitoring functionality for satellite system in SOLMAN.
The following problems occurred:
1) Missing database component of the system in System Monitoring set up
Usually the system has the following components in System Monitoring set up:
a) SAP Application Server
b) Server <servername>
c) Database <SID>-Database
For my satellite system the Database component c) is missed.
How can this component be activated? The satellite system has MaXDB
2) Missing system entries in tcode RZ20
I miss the entries of the system e.g. Shortdumps Frequency, AbapErrorInUpdate, Shortdumps in tcode RZ20.
How will the system values added into the RZ20?
Thank you very much!

ThomSolved!
You just need to maintain the DB in SMSY -
No SID -Database visible under Operations: System Monitoring
Hi!
I successfully set up the System Monitoring for one satellite system with SAP DB.
I integrated DB via tcode SM59 and created the alert monitor.
After this I created the User Defined alerts in System Monitoring Setup.
The prooblem now is I cannot see the appropriate component <SID>-Database under Operations: System Monitoring.
Has some one experience dealing with this problem?
Thank you very much!

ThomHello Thom,
did have a look at SAP Note 1038134?
If you are using Solution Mnager roles for System Monitoring the authorization check has changed and you need to maintain authorization object S_SOLM_ACT.

SYSTEM monitoring , RFCs
Hi All
I want to setup system monitoring from solution manager 7.0 for other satellite systems (4.6) .
Satellite systems have already been added in the System landscape (Tcode -SYSY) and also I have already enabled EWA , SL reporting and they are getting generated properly in solution manager .
Do we need to create RFCs for CCMS read destination and CCMS Login destination to enable system monitoring for those satellite systems . If yes, then are they will be created for client 000 ??
Waiting for suggestions.
Links and documents will also be appreciated...
Still waiting for your suggestion , Experts
Edited by: Rocky on Jun 9, 2008 1:53 PMAs recommended by some colleagues I am also investigating Customer Center of Excelence as a reference to define roles and responsibilities, particularly in the concept of Application Lifecycle Management.
Any other input is welcome.

Solution Manager System Monitoring of a CE 7.10
Hi
I am trying to setup a Solution Manager Monitoring Solution for a CE 7.10 Enviroment.
I have already setup CEN in SOLMAN.
I have registered CE Systems with a sapccmsr j2ee agent.
I have setup the JCO RFC Connection in CE.
I have created the TCP/IP Connection to the JCO Connection in Solman.
I have set the TCP/IP Connection in RZ21 as the J2EE Customizing Destination.
The solution involves only 1 Logical Component with 3 CE Systems.
When I go to the solution manager setup and try to configure the MTE Nodes for my solution I cannot get the MTE context while clicking in Activate Monitoring for other Software Components
I choose Java Application Server, choose my server, choose CEn but when i have to choose the context of the MTE i get an empty list.
IF i go Activate Monitoring for Other Servers and choose the server I get the contexts of the remote server, but I can only choose one.
So how can I see the context of the CE servers in the Software component part?

Solution manager system monitoring configuration
Hi
I am configuring system monitoring in solution manager (Oracle / Solman 7.0 EHP1 / Windows 2008 / VM)
I have added a satellite system to solution manager thru CCMS and CCMSPING agents. These are visible in RZ21 / Technical infrastructure / Overview. This has also been added in SMSY, SMSY when refreshed pulls out data from the satellite system. However I am having trouble with the transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER. This is where I setup system monitoring.
Here I find the solution maanger system however am not able to find the satellite system which I had added.
Thoughts?
thanks

Edited by: Thiru Thirumal on Aug 6, 2008 4:57 AMHi,
Q. Is it possible to setup the solution manager -above mentioned tasks without Ides system ?
A. Yes.
Check with links for
1.Early watch alert
This process helps you to identify potential problems early, avoid bottlenecks, and monitor the performance of your ABAP and JAVA systems and your most important business processes, regularly, automatically and effectively. The data collection infrastructure comprises the ABAP Service Data Control Center and the JAVA function module Data Provider. The SAP EarlyWatch Alert in the SAP Solution Manager is a service provided by SAP.
To be able to use it, you have:
maintained the non-ABAP systems correctly in the system landscape maintenance (transaction SMSY)
RFC u2013 Connections between: and an RFC u2013 Connections established.
your satellite systems and the SAP Solution Manager system
SAP Solution Manager and the SAP Service Marketplace
Solution Manager system and Solution Manager Diagnostics
Cf: Solution Manager IMG (transaction SPRO).
checked the availability of the tools required for the SAP Service sessions (add-on ST-A/PI), with the report RTCCTOOL.
activated Alert Monitoring and set-up the Automatic Session Manager (ASM) in the Service Data Control Center (SDCCN) of your satellite systems, for all SAP satellite systems and the central SAP Solution Manager of your solution
set-up your systems in a solution landscape in the SAP Solution Manager
configured Solution Manager Diagnostics
2.System Monitoring
The system monitoring in the SAP Solution Manager is, as described above, like a system-wide central CCMS. It can also contain the central CCMS (CEN) of satellite systems. These CENs can then monitor other components.
The graphical display in the SAP Solution Manager gives you access to the alerts of all systems in a solution. You can go to the local or central CCMS of the satellite systems.
The system proposes the most important alerts in the CCMS monitor collection, according to SAP experience, and their alert thresholds, for each system in the solution, in the system monitoring Session. You can activate or deactivate these alerts. The connection between the local CCMS and the SAP Solution Manager allows you to maintain the alert thresholds directly in the SAP Solution Manager, overwriting the values in the local CCMS.
3.Central System Administration
You activate the customizing for business processes in your solution, in the Business Process MONITORING session in the SAP Solution Manager. A monitoring tree element (MTE), or a monitor collection, u201EBPMu201C of several monitoring objects, is created in the local or central (CEN) CCMS of the satellite system.
The data is collected for the monitoring types of the business process monitoring in contrast to system monitoring, as follows:
● The system collects performance (dialog transactions), posting cancellations (V1 and V2) and u201EOther CCMSu201C and interface data, in the local CCMS of the satellite systems.
● The system collects background processing, application list, application monitors, delivery lists, and document size data, in the central SAP Solution Manager CCMS.
The SAP Solution Manager system copies the data from the local CCMS.
The graphical display in the SAP Solution Manager simplifies access to the alerts for the business processes, business process steps or the interfaces between the systems in a solution. You can go to the local CCMS of the satellite systems.
The connection between the local CCMS and the SAP Solution Manager allows you to maintain the alert thresholds directly in the SAP Solution Manager. These overwrite the values in the local CCMS.
4.Business Process Monitoring
The system and business process monitoring (including interface monitoring) in the SAP Solution Manager, both use the Computing Center Management System (CCMS) (transaction RZ20) architecture. This means that system alerts which occur in the local CCMS, are passed to the SAP Solution Manager via RFC connections between the SAP Solution Manager and the satellites. The system shows these alerts in a graphic or in Sessions. You can also handle the alerts centrally, without having to go to the local CCMS of the satellite systems.
You can see the alerts from several systems in a solution landscape in the SAP Solution Manager, in a graphical overview, in contrast to the local CCMS of the SAP Solution Manager satellite systems. This is the view of a central CCMS (CEN). You can also monitor non-SAP systems in a central CCMS (CEN) of a satellite system

1.Do i need to configure the CCMS_OnAlert_Email, for every alert that you have, in the satellite system?
Best thing I would say is to copy method ( RZ21 --> Method --> Method definition )CCMS_OnAlert_Email to Z_CCMS_OnAlert_Email in Solman and assign this auto reaction to MTE class of satellite systems.
2. How do i configure this out of solution manager, and bypassing the satellite system?
You have to install/configure sapccm4x( for monitoring abap ) on satellite systems by giving details about Solution manager. Then the alert will be sent to Solution manager from satellite system and the configured auto reaction will send mails .

Solution Manager - System Monitoring
Hi Basis associates,
This is a open discussion for SAP Basis experts to discuss what the pain points are when it comes to SAP System Monitoring on
1. Solution Manager
2. Third party Monitoring tools
for any SAP Application (ABAP, ABAP+Java, Java only)
Also, what are the additional parameters that Solution Manager needs to monitor to make the monitoring easier?
Thanks

Activated SDCCN on Satellite System not Solution Manager
I activated SDCCN on a satellite system instead of Solution Manager and need to find out how to treat Solution Manager system as the "master system" (basically point the satellite system back to the Solution Manager system).
Also, do I have to activate SDCCN on the Solution Manager system itself? The documentation is vague here.1] In the satellite system go to tcode: SDCCN
In the menu Goto -> Settings -> Task Specific
In the settings for RFC-Destinations you can choose to which Solution Manager (master) the data will go.
2] If i'm correct, you don't have to activate SDCCN on the Solution Manager. Just create a service in tcode: DSWP (Operations, Solution Monitoring, EarlyWatch report)
(If you get an error session overdue, check answer on this Early Watch Alert Configuration)) -
Database node appears late in System monitoring setup
Hi,
I am configuring central monitoring for my satellite systems from sloution manager. After connecting the systems through RFC when I go to setup system monitoring in DSWP I can see application server nodes but the databse node appears late, sometime after two days.
All the agents installation on satellite systems, saposcol, RFCs from Solman are OK.
Is there any reason for such delay? any known bug? My Solman is EHP1 SP03. Satellite systems mostly ERP6 or BI7.

DhirajHI Dhiraj,
Check if this is applicable.

System Monitoring prerequisite
Hi All
I am running on solution manager 4.0 Kernal 7.0 SP13 . I am unable to configure system monitoring for satellite system SAP 4.6c (ABAP System)
Do we need to upgrade it to SP 15 for CCMS and for System monitoring .
Please suggest u2026
Please forward me documents on CCMS or system monitoring if possible .

Thanks in advanceHi Rocky,
I do not think we get any RFCs after clicking on Setup System Monitoring.
Instead we get a screen which has
Setup System Monitoring
Activate Minitoring for Systems with ABAP-stack
Check CCMS Connectivity and so on.
When we click on "Activate Minitoring for Systems with ABAP-stack"
we get a screen on left which shows the list of systems with fields "SID" "Installation No" "Active"
Here we have to chose the system.
Thanks,
Padmaja.

Missing CCMS sub tree in satellite system
Hi,
I am setting up monitoring in Solution Manger for different SAP systems.
On one satellite system in the CCMS tree there is a branch for MaxDB Monitoring.
In another satellite system in the CCMS tree there is no branch for MaxDB Monitoring.
How can I insert the MaxDB Monitoring branch in the latter satellite system so I can copy the properties of the MTE classes to use in alerts in Solution Manager?
The SAP CCMS Monitor Templates monitor set in the satellite systems is used in the Solution Manager.
Best Regards,
Kjell AarhusHi Mikael,
Thanks for your clearifying answer.
Now, in the system I have taken over, the SAP CCMS Monitor Templates have been used as source to provide Solution Manager with data. Is that an unfortunate solution? And is it possible to change that now after everything is set up?
/Kjell
