System Partition Not Set. Bcdboot failed! bcdboot.exe

Hey guys,
I have an issue that I can't get past, and I've completely run out of ideas.
I have an SCCM 2012 SP1 server and it has KB2801987 applied.
From this server, I run a Windows 7 Enterprise x86, and a Windows 7 Enterprise x64 task sequence for bare metal deployment to workstations.
Everything works perfectly fine, EXCEPT when I deploy the Windows 7 Ent x64 WIM, and I've used bootable USB media.
PXE Booting a machine, and running the task sequence that deploys Win7x64 = works perfectly.
Advertising the Win7x64 task sequence to a machine = works perfectly
Booting from a 32-bit boot usb media, running the Win7x64 task sequence -> downloads the boot(x64) WinPE image, then starts deployment = works perfectly
Booting from 64-bit boot usb media, running the Win7X64 task sequence = Task Sequence Error (0x8004005).
I've recreated my USB boot media several times. I've tried different brands/models of USB keys, and I always get the exact same error.
And this is the same error that always happens in my SMSTS.LOG.  It seems it can't set the boot partition, and fails at the every end of applying the WIM image.  And again, this is ONLY when I use USB boot media for THIS particular task sequence.
The exact same TS, WinPE boot image and WIM image work just fine when deployed via any other method.  I guess the only thing I haven't tried yet is to make a bootable CD with the same media to see if I get the same issue.  I will try that as soon
as I can.
But any ideas/help is appreciated.  Thanks guys.

I am getting the exact same issue as the original post, however strangely only with one model of computer (HP Compaq 6300 Pro tower desktops).
We are using SCCM 2012 SP1 but are not using PXE, USB media only.
Same symptoms, running a deployment task sequence for x64 Windows 7 Enterprise makes it all the way through the Apply OS step which installs a .wim I've captured previously and fails when attempting to copy down the WinPE environment to continue the task
sequence.
All boot images have been updated to WinPE 4.0 and have the according driver packs added. My format and partition step creates 1 partition to use the whole drive. We do not use a separate partition for system reserved because our FDE product does not play
well with encrypting that partition because it is not an active partition.
Running the initial attempt from an x64 boot key results in failure, but running on an x86 boot key that requires the x64 boot image for deployment will complete. After the initial failure from the x64 key, the machine can't even be deployed from an x86
boot key because it still fails to write to the partition. No combination of diskpart and format from the command prompt has been able to get it deployed yet.
Any other ideas or steps to troubleshoot? I'm open to anything because this is hindering our ability to fully migrate to our 2012 environment.

    Hi.
In RSA1->Transport connection->ShftCtrl0 check whether you have any transport request connected.
In addition ensure in "objects changebility" that you can change queries.

  • RE6500 system time not set and, why set a DNS address?

How do I set the RE6500 system time to current day if it's showing January 1970?  It is connected to the router on both frequencies and the extender output is working on both frequencies. I have set the RE6500 to a static address of 192.168.1.3 as the router address is 192.168.1.1.  In the RE6500 the default gateway is set to the router address of 192.168.1.1.  Is it necessary to set the DNS address in the RE6500 as the router is the default gateway?

Hi Chadster766;  thanks for the prompt reply.  I tried using the external primary DNS address set in the router - saving and rebooting - and when that didn't work, I used the same IP address as the router 192.168.1.1.  That didn't work either; I did a warm re-boot of the computer after setting the DNS in the RE6500.  What am I missing or, should I reinstall the RE6500 and use the default DNS settings?  I'm using Windows 7 Sp1 and the RE6500 icon does not appear in Network, so it appears to be an issue between Windows and the RE6500.

  • System Staus not set as REL in PD after releasing the project

    Hi All,
I am new in SAP PS.Please help me in this issue.
I am working on the IDES System( Sand box).
    Issue is as follows:-
Before booking actual cost in activities we need to release the project first.
But i am not able to release the Project definition directly. It is giving error as E:ZSTAT:000.
But i am able to release the WBS Elements underneath that and after that i can confirm the activities and book costs.
But when i am trying to release the PD directly, REL status is set but immediately after saving it gives E:ZSTAT:000 error and again it is in CRT status.
KIndly help me in setting the status.
    What can be the issues?

The error depicted is not a standard SAP error. Its a customized error that has been maintained via validation.
Validations work at the time of 'Save', therefore the error occurs when you save and not when you release. Execute OPSI and verify the validation condition that is causing this error.
Once you are able to determine and understand the condition that is causing the error you will be able to fulfill it or remove the validation altogether (although this is not recommended).

  • Apply Image error - Bcdboot failed!

    Hi @ all,
first some information about the environment. We use:
    SCCM 2012 Sp1 CU2, SQL 2008 R2
I try to deploy a windows 7 machine (desktop) in a branch office. the necessary files will be downloaded from a DP based on windows 7!!
When I boot from an USB stick (64-bit, bootable only, no standalone media) and start a Task Sequence, after downloading the os-image, during the "apply-step" I get the following error.
    The smsts.log says:
    System partition not set ApplyOperatingSystem 10.02.2014 18:51:39 1596 (0x063C)
Unable to find the partition that contains the OS boot loaders. Please ensure the hard disks have been properly partitioned

    stderr:
Installation of image 1 in package A120038D failed to complete..
Unspecified error (Error: 80004005; Source: Windows)
In the TS the hard disk will be cleaned and formatted. I also cleaned the hard disk manually before starting the TS > same error.
Another Task Sequqnce (only another os-image-wim file) for laptop in the same branch office, same room, same subnet and same switch will be deployed successfully.
To try the deployment via PXE it´s very difficult, because the deployment will be started over very slow WAN network connection.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks in advance!
    Tom

Have you looked into using task sequence variables to assist with the partitioning of the disk and the applying of the os?  Using task sequence variables can ensure that the os gets loaded to the desired partition.
During the task to partition the disk, you can select the properties option for the partition you want the os loaded onto and set a variable that the task sequence can refer to this partition by
Then, during the apply os image step, you can tell the task to install the os onto that partition by referring to the variable name used during partitioning.
Try implementing this and see if you still run into the same issues.

  • Firm or Trade-Off Zone Indicator not set

    Hi
I have created the scheduling agreement and run the MRP by this the schedule lines are generated but the system has not set Firm or Trade-Off Zone Indicator how do I go head? IS there any customization/master data required to set the this indicator?
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Prashant.

This depends a bit on how you communicate to your vendors.
Assuming EDI, then the message to the vendor will contain a few date fields
    A. ABFDE End of production go-ahead
Which is the 'end' of the FIRM ZONE
    B. ABMDE End of material go-ahead
Which is the 'end' of the TRADEOFF ZONE.
Upon receipt the vendors system will recognize these dates.
Assuming printout, you need to work in SAP-Script/Smartform to detail the effect of these date on your print.
Either by also mentioning these in the item header (remember each item has an unique FZ/ToZ setting). Or by using special markers on the date lines, based on these dates.
    Regards

  • SolMan ChaRM - System landscape not ready yet

    Hi all,
We are configuring ChaRM for an implementation use, therefore all the systems are not set up yet.
Is it possible in SolMan to define logical component without "real" systems ?
We saw that in STMS it was possible to create virtual systems, but how do we link these virtual systems to SolMan ChaRM ?
Is it possible to define a virtual system landscape and to build and configure ChaRM scenario with this ?
Thanks a lot for all your help,
    Regards.

Yes, it is possible to define a development system and virtual systems (Q- and P-System).
Via transaction SMSY you can describe the planned Q- and P-System at first as 'virtual'.
Create transport routes with transport buffers as you would do for existing systems.
Define the buffers as they should be named in future.
For experimental purposes we connected our IDES-System to our development SolMan system.
In this environment we could map such a ChaRM-configuration.
In the meantime we practiced it in our production SolMan system, too.
    Best regards
    Horst

  • No system manager locations set, search application might not be ready yet

    Hi,
I am just setting up a new SharePoint 2013 environment (Windows server 2008 R2 + SQL Server 2008 R2) and I am getting this error message in powershell when I try to save my new search topology: No system manager locations set, search application might
not be ready yet. The installation script used to install and create the search service originates from this link: http://www.toddklindt.com/blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=378 and I receive the error message after running $clone.Activate().
    ULS is writing this:

So basically all else is going fine before saving the clone. Application pool is created, search service and it´s proxy is created (the databases are also created in SQL). The clone is after this created and then the components are added.
I have tested with both March and April CU. I use separate accouns for search service, installation and so on. I have tested giving the search application pool account local admin right but didnt make any difference.
Some posts in Internet around this matter is pointing towards there might be 4 missing patches like here: http://blog.steigis.ch/sharepoint/sps2013/search-in-starting-state/  They are all installed on my server.
Search host controller service and SharePoint Server Search are started.
Before creating the service I ran this. I have done this on all my other installations of search to solve the problem with the host service is in "starting" state. Info taken from here: http://mmman.itgroove.net/2012/12/search-host-controller-service-in-starting-state-sharepoint-2013-8/
    $acl = Get-Acl HKLM:\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ComputerName
    $person = [System.Security.Principal.NTAccount] "Users"
    $access = [System.Security.AccessControl.RegistryRights]::FullControl
    $inheritance = [System.Security.AccessControl.InheritanceFlags] "ContainerInherit, ObjectInherit"
    $propagation = [System.Security.AccessControl.PropagationFlags]::None
    $type = [System.Security.AccessControl.AccessControlType]::Allow
    $rule = New-Object System.Security.AccessControl.RegistryAccessRule($person, $access, $inheritance, $propagation, $type)
    $acl.AddAccessRule($rule)
    Set-Acl HKLM:\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ComputerName $acl
    $sh = Get-SPServiceInstance | ? {$_.TypeName -eq "Search Host Controller Service"}
After this I do a server restart and continue with creating the search service and its components.
    Any ideas?

I had exactly the same issue when setting up a new SharePoint 2013 environment (Windows Server 2012, SP2013 with PU March 2013 and CU April 2013, .NET 4.5). I have tried almost everything during the last weeks to configure the Search Service Applicatione,
e.g. create the service from GUI, create it from PowerShell, verify my search account had enough permissions, check for missing updates etc. etc. Same error no matter what I tried.
Using another SharePoint farm I went through a similar configuration of the Search Service Application. I used exactly the same script as I did on the first server and the setup completed without any issues. So why did the same features fail during the setup?
To find an answer I compared the two farms and the only thing I noticed that were different was the lack of .NET 3.5 on the application and WFE server in the first farm. I then enabled .NET 3.5 features and now the Search Service Application works as expected
I had no idea enabling .NET 3.5 features would solve the issue - I thought .NET 4.5 was backward compatible and SharePoint only requires .NET 4.5 according the
    requirements?

  • Window System Image Backup Fails to Back Up EFS System Partition

I am trying to use WBADMIN to take a complete system image of my system with the following command:
wbadmin start backup -backuptarget:[NETWORK SHARE] -include:C: -allcritical
WBADMIN is able to create shadow copies of all the volumes on my system, but when it begins to create a backup of the EFI System Volume, it fails immediately:
The backup operation to [NETWORK SHARE] is starting.

The system is encrypted with Bitlocker, and does not have a TPM. I am also running Carbonite, but I have disabled it and the results are the same.
No data is actually written to the log files either, which is strange. The GUI System Image Backup utility also provides virtually the same error. Any thoughts?

    Hi,
Try to test in WinRE to see what the result is.

Sorry, but I could not change the headline in the thread were I started this issue. But error 0x807800C5 is too imprecise

2015-03-18 23:02:17 INF > Detailed error: The specified backup disk cannot be found.
I found out that the failure only occurs if I add the -allCritical switch.
If I start the backup for drive c: with this command:
    wbadmin.exe start backup -quiet -backupTarget:f:\ -include:C: -vssFull -exclude:c:\Hyper-V
    everything is ok.
I can backup every virtual machine with the following command without any problem
    wbadmin.exe start backup -quiet -backupTarget:f:\ -vssFull -hyperv:XYZ-DOM
    Only this command fails:
wbadmin.exe start backup -quiet -backupTarget:f:\ -vssFull -allCritical
The difference is that wbadmin now tries to backup ALL partitions, also EFI & Co. So I assume that wbadmin does not have proper access to the "EFI System Partition" and that all information which one can find in the logs of the
2012 server related to that event is bullshit (Error: The specified backup disk cannot be found).
I found reports of 8.1 users rleated to similar problems (http://answers.microsoft.com/de-de/windows/forum/windows8_1-files/systemabbildsicherung-bricht-ab/f6ed5e53-829e-48be-9b47-a73f730680cc?page=1&tm=1384095732725). Could be a hint, same kernel.
But at the end: With this kind of backup you'll loose defintly the possibility of an bare-metal restore, very
    unsatisfying.
Annother question: Backups with the -hyperv switch are terrible slow. The backups are written to an USB-3 disk, The xyz-Dom machine for example has two vhdx files with roundabout 700GB, more or less 350GB filled. The backup needs 12 hours!

  • Error trying to run SSIS Package via SQL Server Agent: DTExec: Could not set \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value] value to System.Object

    Situation:
SSIS Package designed in SQL Server 2012 - SQL Server Data Tools
    Windows 7 - 64 bit.
The package (32 bit) extracts data from a SQL Server db to an Excel Output file, via an OLE DB connection.
    It uses 3 package variables:
*) SQLCommand (String) to specify the SQL Statement to be executed by the package
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::ExcelOutputFile].Properties[Value]
    Value: f:\Output Data.xls
*) EXCELOutputFIle (String) to specify path and filename of the Excel output file
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::SQLCommand].Properties[Value]
    Value: select * from CartOrder
*) VarObjectDataSet (Object) to hold the data returned by SQL Server)
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value]
    Value: System.Object
It consists out of 2 components:
*) Execute SQL Task: executes the SQL Statement passed on via a package variable. The resultng rows are stored in the package variable VarObjectDataSet
*) Script Task: creates the physical output file and iterates VarObjectDataSet to populate the Excel file.
Outcome and issue:The package runs perfectly fine both in SQL Server Data Tools itself and in DTEXECUI.
However, whenever I run it via SQL Server Agent (with 32 bit runtime option set), it returns the errror message below.
This package contains 3 package variables but the error stating that a package variable can not be set, pops up for the VarObjectDataSet only.  This makes me wonder if it is uberhaupt possible to set the value of a package variable
    of type Object.
Can anybody help me on this please ?

    Hi Visakh,
    thank you for your reply.
So, judging by your reply, not all package variables used inside a package need to be set a value for when run in DTEXEC ?
I already tried that but my package ended up in error (something to do with "... invocation ...." and that error is anything but clearly documented. Judging by the error message itself, it looks like it could be just about anything. that is why I asked my
first question about the object type package variable.
Now, I will remove it from the 'set values' list and try another go cracking the unclear error-message " ... invocation ...". Does an error message about " ... invocation ..." ring any bells, now that we are talking about it here ?
    Thx in advance
    Jurgen
    Yes exactly
You need to set values only forthem which needs to be controlled from outside the package
Any variable which gets its value through expression set inside package or through a query inside execute sql task/script task can be ignored from DTExec
Ok I've seen the invocation error mostly inside script task. This may be because some error inside script written in script task. If it appeared after you removed the variable then it may because some reference of variable existing within script task.

and allocated to 2.5GB RAM to use.
3rd machine - Working as Node1 and its name is "AconNODE1W2K12STD"
and allocated to 1.5GB RAM to use.
and the windows virtual cluster name is "AconWinCLTR". While I am doing the SQL Cluster Installation, I am getting below mentioned error. all systems have 4.5 .net installed. May you please guide me where and what i am missing to complete sql clustering.....

    Hello Vamsi,
check Note 647495 - RFC for Unicode ./. non-Unicode Connections
If your ERP system sends e. g. chinese data to the SCM system, how should the system know which codepage to use? You have to set the MDMP flag in your ERP system in SM59 and configure in the MDMP extended settings which codepage should be used for what language.
Please check this thread - IDoc error - Could not find code page for receiving system
    Hope it helps,
    Thanks & Regards,
