  • System Refresh: Abap+Java stack

Have a few questions about CRM refresh I'm working on. Done many refreshes over the years and the new process has me shaking my head in disbelief.
Performed a normal system refresh, by restoring online backup of production system onto mirror system. The mirror system exactly matches my production sytem (Oracle 10g, SuSE Linux 64 bit, UNICODE).
Now my system is running from Abap stack perspective, however Java components fail to load.
Now from reading the documentation (System Copy for SAP, Based on SAP Netweaver 2004s Abap+Java) it appears that I have to use sapinst and no longer use online database backups for system refreshes.
Is this the case? Has the investment my organization made into online backups now worthless?
Is there a way to take the java schema in this online copied database and bring it online after converting it to work on the mirror landscape?
Or should I throw out our system methodology and start new

    Thank you for the reply.
Reading SAP's documentation seems to imply that I need to extract out the java schema from my production source and then re-install on my QA target to make a refresh of the java stack possible.
However, if I have a complete copy of my source system database working on the target, why is the extract necessary?
At least, I should be able to extract out the contents from the source as if it was the target, thereby eliminating any sort of production outages (we have many constraints about shutting down production from fuctional perspective).
I'll do some research around the other tools mentioned to see if they can lend a hand fixing the issue,

  • Uninstall only Java system?

    Hi
I had already install ABAP+Java system but right now I want to uninstall only Java part of SAP system and still ABAP part of SAP system. Could you please advise me ,It's possible? How can I do or where can I get the information?
    Thanks,
    Beaw

    Hello,
There is no way to "uninstall" only one stack (J2EE or ABAP).
Also, you can not migrate only one stack (ABAP or J2EE) without system consistemcy issues.
If you are at an early stage of your project, you may re-install.
If you are at an later stage, keep the system "as-is" and minimize the usage of the Java stack to have a minimum consumption of memory and cpu.
Setting disp/j2ee_start to false will disable the J2EE engine on startup.
    Hope it will help.
    Best regards.

  • PI 7.1 system copy (abap+java)

    Hello,
We need homogenous copy of PI 7.1 system to an existing system (newly installed PI 7.1). I would like to use database specific option (oracle).I was studying SAP guide for System copy of PI 7.1 and there are slight diff comparing to NW 7.0 double stacks.
Comparing to NW 7.0 double stacks I can't see here step for exporting central instance where application specific filesystem and SDM filesystem was archived (I know SDM is not present  in 7.1 anymore). In addition I can see in guide for 7.1 new option for database refresh. However this section also does not describes any needs for taking special care of java filesystem content.Does it mean that I do not need to take special care for java filesytem content anymore on 7.1?
I am bit wondering if it is sufficient for 7.1 just to refresh DB (with restore method for oracle for example) and then perform just adaptation of java IDs in profiles as described in section for database refresh of system copy guide PI 7.1? Will be this way system consistent (consistent abap part and consistent java part)? On NW 7.0 after restore of DB only, java part would be not consistent, is this new in 7.1?
Thanks for your feedback in advance

    Hello -
Since you need the complete ABAP and JAVA databases, you will want to use the system copy tool on the installation CD. If you are using a Micrsoft SQL system, you will be able to save yourself some steps. Here is what we did for our MSSQL refresh:
Use sapinst to do a file system export on the source system.
Take back up of source system and use sapinst to restore it to target system.
    Process
    1. Detach the database files from the source system database or create a backup and copy the files
    to the target system.
    2. Attach the database files or restore the backup of the source database on the target database server.
    3. Run SAPinst to install the target system by choosing the following on the Welcome screen:
    <Your SAP system> Software Life-Cycle Options System Copy Target System <system variant>
    <technical stack> .
Let me know if you have more questions or if you need more information. I can try and answer a few if you are trying to use ORACLE and UNIX / LINUX. Thanks! - Will S.

  • Table structure changed in testing system after system refresh.

    Hi Team,
Recently we underwent a system refresh in Testing System where the Testing data is filled with Production data. But now we find that in one table some fields which we had deleted they are again found there. The version history of table is also gone. The table object was under testing in testing system and after which it was supposed to be transported to production. I believe System refresh only means refresh of data and it has nothing to do with table structure. Please correct me if I am wrong. Please also let me know what could be the reason of those changes in table if it is not System Refresh.
    Regards,
    Amit

I believe System refresh only means refresh of data and it has nothing to do with table structure.
Alas, you were wrong, after all table definition are data too, as program sources...
You have to re-import every transport request which was not yet transported to production in your test system.

  • JSPM patching issue after system refresh

We have recently done a System Refresh of Java-Addin box from a source system whic was on SP-13 on to a  target system which was on SP-14.
After the refresh we found the target system is now on SP13.   When I tried to apply SP-14, JSPM reports that the patch is already applied.  How do I go about ? Does this mean that SP-14 is already existing.  How to make the system recognise that the current patch is on SP-13. What needs to be done?
    Thanks in advance.
    Umamahesh

This is not a bug in JSPM,  if the System Refresh is done through SAPINST you shouldn't have such issues.
I think that since some of the files in J2EE are not updated after the manual system refresh and JSPM must be pointing to the earlier Patch level.
Especially files under  ..../bootstrap/SAP AG are not updated
In JSPM by default the forcemode is disabled so given the manual way to enable the option
    Hope this is clear

  • System refresh of abap+java

    Hi gurus,
I am trying to do the system refresh for ecc6.0 abap + java .I did the abap part with the oracle specific method where we restore the data files and run the control.sql command . But for the java part i am confused on what option i had tried to select abapJava and do an export and then when i am importing it with the abapJava option it is also doing the restoration of abap stack . If i select only java it is trying to create a instance JC00 which i dont want , Is there a method where i can only export the java stack and import into the abap system that was refreshed using the oracle restore method ?
    Thanks in advance

    try following this:
JAVA Refresh Procedure On SRC system
    1) Execute the following command after navigating to the SAPinst directory to the JAVA export using SAPinst.
    a. sapinst.exe product_cp.catalog
The export procedure is as follows
    1) Specify the SID name and export directory
    2) To take the export without stopping the JAVA process, uncheck the check box
    On TRG System Preparations
    1) Copy the export from the SRC export directory to the TRG system
    2) The JAVA versions should be same on SRC and TRG
    Import procedure is as follows
Execute the following command on the TRG system after navigating to the SAPinst in the Master DVD
    sapinst.exe product_cp.catalog
Check for the TRG system SID for example TAJ
    Note:
    1) Ensure that the SAP system is up and running.
    2) Ensure that temporary tablespace u201CPSAPTEMPu201D is not empty
After completing the import successfully, restart the SAP system.

  • Java Dispatcher Down but Server0 and SDM up after system refresh

    Hello,
I have done system refresh from PRD to QAS of CRM system - dual stack.Once after the system refresh ABAP is up and running fine but Java is down (Only Dispatcher is down. Both SDM and Server0 are running fine).
I have followed Note 609603 - Problems with Multiple NICs and SAP J2EE Engine and have given the correct host name but the no luck..
    std_dispatcher.out says the following error:
Cannot attach to the Message Server. Can't open port [3925] on host [<Source Host Name>/Source IP Address].
Could you please let me know if I need to do any changes in the Config tool?
    Thanks,

    HI,
IN DB restore the hostname of java system stored in profiles would be your PRD.
Go to Configtool in Edit mode -- cluster --> change the hostnames in Instance profile -- and under other files like bootstrap etc whereever you find PRD hostname.
And otherwise for JAVA system you should use export/import option.

  • System Refresh getting error "Your System has corresponding JAVA stack"

    Hello Experts,
I am trying to do a system refresh on my HCM system which is ABAP only.
When I run SWPM --> Generic Installation Options -->MS SQL Server --> Database Tools --> Database copy completion, I get the following error.
    Version Information is as follows:
    Kernal is 721
    ECC 6.0 Basis 702 level 9 (Netweaver 7.02)
Windows server is 2008 R2 standard
    MSSQL is 10.50.4000
Yes, I have done my research and failed also has a High OSS message open with SAP. This issue is very critical so any help as early as possible is highly appreciated.
    Thank You.

    Hi Muhammad,
It looks like you have a Java schema in your database, and sapinst is finding that and therefore assuming it's a double-stack system.  Perhaps this system used to be double-stack at one time, and then was split?  In the trace file I saw the following entries, at different points:
    SID: HCT
    DbServer: USALSQLT01\HCMT
    DbName: HCT
    ABAP Schema: hct
    Java Schema: SAPHCTDB
    TRACE      2014-04-18 09:26:36.318
Found corresponding java schema SAPHCPDB. Aborting.
    TRACE      2014-04-18 09:26:36.333 [iaxxgenimp.cpp:325]
               CGuiEngineImp::showDialogCalledByJs()
    showing dlg d_doubleStackSystemError
    TRACE      2014-04-18 09:26:36.333 [iaxxgenimp.cpp:335]
               CGuiEngineImp::showDialogCalledByJs()
    <dialog sid="d_doubleStackSystemError">
    <title>Unsupported System</title>
    <dialog/>
So, that seems to be the cause.  If you're sure this is only supposed to be a single-stack ABAP system, you might try deleting the SAPHCPDB schema using database tools and then re-running sapinst.
While you're at it, it looks like you might have an old copy of Sun JRE 1.4.2 still installed (perhaps from the old days when that version was required to run sapinst).  In the environment variables in the trace I saw:
    JAVA_HOME=C:\j2sdk1.4.2_29-x64
You might want to uninstall that if you don't need it anymore, and unset that environment variable.  Also, your swap size looks low for a 64-bit system with 8 GB RAM, even for a test system:
    Swap size (MB): 9998.18

  • Only one business system for outbound java proxies?

    Hi!
I have a problem regarding java proxy runtime JPR.
When I call the deployed outbound proxy from a client program, the java proxy sender service is always one defined business system. even if that has nothing to do with the business systems used by the proxy.
For example: I define a business system on the Web AS, which is responsible for the java proxy communication, this is the bean defacto. When I call this bean from a client the JPR calls the Integration Server using another business systems channel. Of course I get the runtime exception service unavailable, because it is not used in interface determination, as the sending channel. If I use the 'working' business systems channel it works just fine
I hope you get my problem.
If I enter the Adapter Monitor, then choose the JPR I can see under Cache that the working business system has several entries here.
Where is the difference between the one working system and others, has anybody ever faced this problem?
    regards
    Stefan

When you call an outbound java proxy bean, the sender business system is usually derived from the business system which is connected to the technical system Web AS Java in SLD.
If you want another sender business system, then you can set this with the application program with help of the message specifier class (look at manual for further details).
I recommend writing a wrapper bean around the generated proxy bean classes to enable the sending application program to provide the business system as a parameter. In that way different senders can provide their business system separately.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Business system VS application(java/ABAP)

can u differentiate business system VS application(java/ABAP) in terms of proxy???

    Hi,
    ABAP Proxy :
    1. With ABAP proxy generation function it will be possible to generate ABAP proxy objects to an SAP system from an interface description in the SAP Exchange Infrastructure Integration Repository.
    2. ABAP proxy objects can only be generated for SAP systems that are based on SAP Web Application Server 6.40.
If you use ABAP Proxy , you can reduce the overhead calling the function again and again.

    Java Proxy:
    1. JAVA proxy is used for J2EE based systems communicating with XI for sending or processing msgs in those J2EE based systems
2.It allows java applications to interact directly to Integration server with avoiding the configurations for the special adapters

  • We need to reinstall the JAVA part alone in ABAP+JAVA

    Dear Sir/Madam,
We have an SAP ECC 6.0 system with ABAP+JAVA components. Now there are some issue with our Java comp. and I'm unable to start the JAVA engine. As we have done little configuration on JAVA side we are planning to reinstall the JAVA part alone.
1)Can we uninstall the the JAVA Component alone from the ABAP+JAVA Central instance?(Without affecting the ABAP Part)
2)Can we install a new JAVA addin in our existing ABAP+JAVA system?
3)If yes; is there any special steps appart from the master guide  "4.4.2 Installing the Java Add-In for an Existing ABAP System" ?

    Thank you for the update,
We have done a Homogeneous system copy from our DEV system to QA system(SAP ECC 6.0 ABAP+JAVA with Oracle 10g)
Our issue is we are unable to connect the VA it shows "Unable to lookup connection default".
We've noticed that the Instance ID in our config tool still shows the DEV Instance ID and the Instance.properties files shows the QA system instance ID.
    In our DEV it's given
    com.sap.engine.bootstrap.Bootstrap
    ./bootstrap
    ID0035522
    and QA it's
