System restore boot disk ISO for HP 255 G1 Laptop AMD

I have a saved image of my laptop - but the system restore / boot disk I created no longer works. Is there anywhere I can get an ISO for the system restore / boot disk for that machine?
I don't think that this should be an 'illegal copy' - because the actual operating system (Windows 7) I have stored as an image file. All I need is a CD / DVD that will boot on the HP 255 and allow me to re-image the machine from the image I created.

Hi,
You can download the relevant repair disc ISO you require from the links below.
Windows 7 32bit
Windows 7 64bit
If needed, you can use an application such as ImgBurn ( Note: you may want to de-select the additional software options during the installation of ImgBurn ) to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.
If you'd rather create a bootable Flash Drive for this Image, try the free application below.

  • Can you save system settings scratch disks locations for each project?

When you begin a new project in FCE you need to set the System Settings Scratch Disks. Typically you would set a new folder for each project to keep all of your files for each project in one location for that project.
I have a couple of FCE projects going at the same time. I've set each project with a different system setting scratch disk location. But if I open a project which should have a unique scratch disk location folder that I've already set before for that project, it ignores the setting I set for that project and just shows the scratch disk setting for the last project opened instead. It does not appear to save or remember the unique setting for that project.
If you have multiple projects going at the same time, is there a way to save the systems settings scratch disk location for each project and have FCE remember that location for each project?

I turned off the Open Last Project on Application Launch in the User Preferences and it still does not remember the unique scratch disk settings for each project.
Since it is quite common to be working on multiple projects simultaneously, you would think that there would be a way in which to save the settings for each project to help keep all related files better organized.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Restore boot disk from image

So I was trying to run Boot Camp last night and it said it couldn't run for some reason and told me to run Disk Utility to back up my hard drive and re-image it. So I booted up via the installation DVD, backed up my hard drive by creating a r/w disk image in Disk Utility on an external hard drive, and erased my hard drive. But now I can't seem to drag a target disk into the right field on the restore tab. Every time I try to drag, I ended up highlighting all the drives instead. Hopefully I'm just missing something simple. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
sorry to say but you've got yourself trapped there.
Vista needs its system partition to be formatted using the NTFS file system.
And while OSX is capable of reading from NTFS drives it is not capable of writing to them.
It could be possible to use WinClone http://www.twocanoes.com/winclone/ to restore that DU image.
You also might be having luck using MacFuse + NTFS-3G http://www.ntfs-3g.org/index.html or Paragons NTFS for OSX http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/
    Good Luck

  • System not booting keep rolling for hours

I need help, my iMac mal-functioning. @ boot it will not boot to desktop, some 1 should pls help

    Hello,
What happens or shows if you hold the Option or alt key at bootup?
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Keep us pposted as to any progress or failures.

  • Restore boot disk

I recently restored the main boot drive from a sparse image and ran disk utilities fix permissions, but the Mac will still not boot from that drive. It hangs on the apple logo with the spinning pinwheel. If I boot from another drive, I can see the main drive and its files ok. Suggestions?

Its files may appear to be OK but it's directory may be damaged. Try running Disk Utility from your installer disk and Repair Disk.

  • System restore is not working

System restore is not working for my Itouch. I am getting a picture of a white cord and and arrow pointing to Itunes logo... any suggestions?

It sounds like there is definitely a system problem. The whole OS seems to be messed up.
Do you have an MS Windows 7 disk?
In such case you could start the Windows 7 Startup Repair process using the MS Win 7 disk.
Boot from Win 7 disk, after the temporal files has been load, you should get and window where you could choose between the OS installation and other options. The second option called Repair you Computer is the one which would be needed to get the system repaired.
Then wait for System Recovery Options to locate Windows 7 on the HDD.
Then choose the Windows 7 installation and then the next window should appear providing the option to repair the system Startup Repair
But in case this workaround would not help you, the system should be reinstalled once again using Toshiba Recovery disk

  • Network Error in Client Full System Restore

    Hi,
I've been attempting, as a test, to restore a full system backup to a client computer using a boot flash drive. When I attempt to do so, I get a "Unknown Network Error" at the point where the client has attempted to contact the server, been unable
to and offered the opportunity to enter a name or an IP address. When I enter either one, I immediately get an "Unknown Network Error". There's no error number or other specific identifying informations.
    Details:
The client computer is a UEFI motherboard PC running Windows 7 Professional. It connects with no difficulty whatsoever on a normal basis to the Windows 2012 R2 Essentials server. It gets backed up every night by the server over the network with no problem.
When I boot from the Network Client Computer Restore USB key, everything works fine except that it is unable to find network drivers. When given the chance to load missing drivers, I use the "Drivers for Full System Restore (from the full system backup)"
on another USB key and they are found just fine.
Then when we get to the point of searching for the server, it appears to look for 30 seconds or so, then a dialog comes up asking whether to search again or if I want to enter a IP or name. Searching again doesn't yield results, and when either an IP or
the server name is entered, I get the "Unknown Network Error".
I feel certain there must be some logging that is either available or could be turned on if I knew how. I feel concerned that I would not be able to restore my client computer if something were to happen. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Jeff

    Hi Justin,
Thanks for your response. I'm sorry that I didn't see it sooner - I guess I assumed I'd get an email if there was a response...
Anyway, at the time when the error occurs, the OS is not running. We have just booted via PXE over the network and started the "Full System Restore" Wizard, so it is not possible to "ping" the server. However, the fact that we successfully
booted via PXEs tells me that basic connectivity exists to the server, because otherwise the PXE boot wouldn't work.
Thanks for the pointer to the logs - I'll check them.
What I have done since I last updated was to do a few experiments. I added a Windows 7 boot image and install image with the Windows Distribution Service, so that on PXE boot I'm given 2 options - a Full System Restore and a Software Install.
I also roped another PC into service, one that is running from BIOS rather than UEFI. On that PC, both the System Restore and Software Install via PXE boot work fine. This tells me the server is at least nominally working, and that the problem is related
somehow to the specifics of the PC being connected. Could be server setup still, could be something on the PC.
On the computer with the UEFI, neither Full System Restore nor Software Install works. However, there is at least a clue in the error response from the Windows Setup - I get a lengthy error message that essentially says that \Windows\Boot\EFI\bootmgr.EFI
is corrupted. I'm not clear whether at this point we are referring to a file extant on the PC or one that is being downloaded that's being claimed to be corrupted.
This took me down a path in which, to eliminate variables, I changed the boot drive on the UEFI system from MBR to GPT. No joy. Also broke up my mirrored drive and changed the SATA from RAID back to AHCI. Also no joy. But everything I am reading is leading
me to believe that the problem has to do with the fact that my target PC has a UEFI BIOS. I continue to investigate - and will look through the logs you mention.
    Jeff
    Update 8/24/2014
Made some progress yesterday. I'm now able to use Windows Deployment Service to deploy Windows 7 over the network to the UEFI computer. I had to do two things to get that to work.
Turn off driver signing in the UEFI bios. That got me past the error screen complaining about a corrupted driver (which I'm pretty sure I don't have). But then it got hung up saying it couldn't find a driver for the network.
To fix that, I added the driver package to the boot image using the tools in the Windows Deployment Service applet.
After that, it found the server just fine, allowed me to authenticate, and would have proceeded to install Windows 7 if I hadn't aborted.
I then added the exact same driver package to the Full System Restore boot image, but it made absolutely no difference. Exactly the same symptoms as reported previously.
So, where am I and what do I know?
I can do both a Remote Windows 7 install and Client Full System Restore using Windows Deployment Services on an X64, BIOS based computer.
I can do a Remote Windows 7 install to my X64 UEFI based computer.
When I attempt a Client Full Restore to the X64 UEFI computer, I get all the way to the Full System Restore Wizard, which tells me that it can't find network drivers (even when they've been installed to the boot image). It finds network drivers when provided
via a USB key, but then when the Wizard looks for the server, it's unable to find it. When a manual option is presented, and I enter the server's IP address, I get an "Unknown Network Error" popup message, and I can't proceed further.
On the UEFI computer, I've tried all combinations of Compatibility Support Module (CSM) settings, but they make absolutely no difference to the Full System Restore process.
I've also tried converting the boot disk from MBR to GPT, didn't make any difference.
I "unmirrored" my mirrored RAID drives and changed the SATA bios from RAID to AHCI. Made no difference.
So, at this point I'm kind of stuck. I'm out of ideas for things to try for now. I did look at the logs as suggested, but didn't see much of anything relative to WDS. Possibly logging has to get turned on?
As always, any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

  • Security when Using an External Boot Disk

    Hi All.
I'm about to purchase a new external hard drive for using as a boot disk and was wondering what securities you can now enforce on a partition with OSX 10.6
The main purpose for the external boot disk is for creating a shared usage resource for running applications. As I will be allowing others to use this drive, I am concerned about the security implications of using it with one of my macs, mainly because of viruses and data corruption.
I know that partitions/external drives used for booting Windows are secure because the windows partition is set to read only for other partitions/drives, preventing "infections".
The question is: Can I set the permissions/security for an external boot disk (OSX 10.6) partition so that if I use it with one of my machines, my internal hard drive will be secure from any viruses, corruptions, etc.
If you can, or if there's anything else I can do to the same ends, please can you tell me how (or post a link to instructions/advice)
Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm glad you enjoyed reading my [Mac Virus guide|http://www.reedcorner.net/thomas/guides/macvirus>, but it sounds like it has not adequately impressed on you the extreme rarity of Mac malware at this time, or the low threat level. Also, it sounds like you're still operating under a couple misconceptions. Firstly:
The external boot drive idea seemed like the perfect solution. As it's the boot drive, when it's used, it's permissions will be enforced on the user. Theoretically this should provide solid protection from trojans, obviously not for that actual boot drive, but for my internal HD.
Keep in mind that trojans are not viruses... they are not going to spread themselves by attaching to other files. (Though, if they did, I'm not sure why you think they wouldn't be able to affect drives other than the boot drive.) Also, malware today is not a juvenile prank aimed at erasing your files. (Though, again, if it was, I'm not sure why you think it wouldn't be able to affect drives other than the boot drive.) Malware these days is big business, aimed at stealing your personal information or turning your machine into a slave to help send spam or crack other machines.
    You also say:
The main threat will be from freeware
For this reason, AV software can actually cause more risk. No AV software catches all malware, so by becoming over-reliant on it, you don't use the filter between your ears. That filter is all that is needed to avoid Mac malware. And keep in mind that Mac malware is extremely rare.
@Thomas. I know how rare mac malware is, after a decade and a half of using macs I've yet to knowingly come across any.
The reason for my assumption that a secondary boot drive would afford me more protection is: As with any partition you can set the read/write permissions. Without write permissions, surely a virus cannot copy itself onto another drive.
The important thing is that this secondary boot drive would not contain any personal details, and would not be used for online purchases/transactions. Thus if malware was downloaded onto the drive, it couldn't access sensitive data.
Furthermore when I've finished working with someone, I can scrub the drive and restore from a cloned backup, thus eliminating any maleware that might be on it.
The most common freeware that will be downloaded will be codecs for video. There often is no way to get around this. If the person I'm working with has video in an unsupported format they need this code to use their footage. As you pointed out this is the kind of area that people use to hide trojans (not just for ****!).
Not at all. Again, trojans are not viruses... they do not show up on your machine attached to other software.
This has confused me a little. I thought that Trojans are written as a pice of code that can be hidden within another program. eg. A video encoder program can contain malware but still also behave like a normal encoder when you run it?
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Boot Camp error: The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition. The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Jounraled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows.

    Hi!
    I am getting the error:
"The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.  The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Jounraled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows."
I read up some on google, but all of them says that they have crated a partition and that is the problem, I only have the standard "Macintosh HD".
I tried to create a partition manually in disk utility but then the error message: "Partition failed with error message: Could not unmount disk."
Can anyone help me? It's driving me crazy.
    Thanks.

This message, and threads like yours got asked daily for over two years, now it is only a couple times a week!!
Is it so hard to follow through? you were to have backup already, clones are best, then erase/format and restore.
    Then partition.
Some have been able to use Disk Utility booted from OS X DVD or another drive, and repair the drive.
You have to use Boot Camp Assistant (99.9% anyway) to create and achieve a proper Windows Master Boot Record partition.

  • Any tips for restoring data on new boot disk?

I'm replacing the boot disk on my PB G4. Rather than cloning the old disk, which functions fine, I'd rather do a clean install of Tiger and my apps just to clean out some of the garbage. Any advice as to the best path to take when it comes to moving data / prefs / settings for the following apps?
    Address Book
    Mail
    iCal
    iSync
    iPhoto
    iTunes
    Safari
    and especially Keychains
Now that I think about it, I guess I'm trying to move my home folder over and replace the root account that reinstalling the OS is going to do.

I guess I should clarify. I don't create a disk image when I clone a drive with Disk Utility. What I do is simply take the boot drive and drag it to the field in the restore tab that says "source" and drag the external disk to the destination. I check the erase destination box and click on the restore button. Then I do not touch the Mac until the restore process is complete.
I have done this on at least four different Macs and tested each copied disk by rebooting it and actually using it.
That being said, I think SuperDuper is a much more useful program for backkups, especially if you pay the registration fee and set it up to do automated backups on a daily basis.

  • If I do a full system restore on my MBP  will i get ilife off of the boot disks that came with the computer?

If I do a full system restore on my MBP  will i get ilife off of the boot disks that came with the computer.
Hi on my MBP i am going to restore it.
It came with iLife will this be on the boot disks?
    Thanks

If your computer shipped with Snow Leopard, that means it shipped with two disks: an Install disk that contains the OS, and an applications disk that contains the iLife suite. You would use the applications disk to reinstall iLife.

  • Cannot run Disk Manager in Full System Restore

    Hi,
I'm trying to do a full client restore of Windows 8.1 with my Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials (all Windows Updates installed on server), but on the screen where I select source and destination volume, and I click on "Run Disk Manager", I get
error "Cannot load Microsoft Management Console". Same error occurs whether I start the Full System Restore via network over Client Restore Service, or via USB stick.
I can think of a workaround to this, but I've used this earlier in previous Essentials/WHS versions and it has worked flawlessly, so I'm wondering if this is some regression in 2012 R2?
UPDATE: For anyone wondering, the workaround for this was to boot with normal Windows ISO, go to Advanced settings -> Command prompt, and set up the volume using
diskpart tool. Then going back to Full System Restore, and you can just select the correctly initialized target volume.
    Any comments?

    Hi,
Few days ago system got in a weird state and had to do a full restore. Enabled network boot from BIOS, connected to Windows Server, chose disks (only restore BIG_SSD, i.e., C:) just normally without need to go to Disk Manager, as backup matched current drive.
Perhaps the original issue was due to boot partition being on the secondary drive for some reason (drive D:), but I'm not sure if it was indeed the case.
I have seen it before as well, that restores in Essentials don't work properly if you've chosen only to backup drive C:, but for some reason drive D: is the booting disk (although Windows is on C:). Why has it ended up like that, I don't know, but nowadays
I always install Windows with just one hard drive connected especially if I want to get reliable backups to Essentials.
Thank you everyone for feedback, will mark it as solved, although we perhaps got more questions than answers :)

  • Can I do a full system restore of a 10.5 system by booting on a 10.6 CD?

    Dear all,
I am trying to support my parents whos MacBook just failed (harddisk dead). They have now gotten a new harddisk installed and wants to restore the setup from their TimeCapsule.
I would prefer to do a full system restore, so that it gets back to exatly how they had it before. A 'user only' setup would require them to reinstall all third party apps including MS Office etc., which will be tricky for them.
    Few questions:
    1. Does a 'full system restore' restore everything, including applications and system files? Will it be going back to an exact clone of what they had?
    2. They ran a Mac OS 10.5.x system, but cannot find their installation CD. Can I lend them my Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) CD to boot, while still restoring their 10.5.x system? (I don't want them to have 10.6 as I am not sure about compability with all their 3rd party software/drivers etc.)
    3. Any other things I should keep in mind for a successful restore?
    Thanks,
    Magnus

No. Well, you can do the restore, but it won't boot.
You need a Leopard disc. It can be the original that came with their Mac, or a Retail (black) version, and it doesn't matter what version of Leopard it is, since you don't load OSX but only use the Installer utility. Thus borrowing one doesn't violate the license.
They really should have a Leopard disc, not only to do a restore, but also if they need to do a +*Repair Disk+* on the internal HD. And they would need the original disc, for the Apple Hardware Test on it; AppleCare will send them a replacement for a nominal fee.
    3. Any other things I should keep in mind for a successful restore?
Yes. See #14 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum, for detailed instructions. Note the caution there, under the green box, about turning TM off immediately after the restore.
