System State dumped to trace file e:\oracle\admin\udump\rbidev_ora_2864.trc
What should i do to resolve this issue?
Database : 10.2.0.2.0
OS version : Microsoft Windows 2003 Enterprise Server Service Pack 2 ( 32-bit)

Ankit,
These errors come from multiple reasons. Most of them areeither due to some bugs which are in Oracle code. Now I am sure you would agree that Oraclewont publish the details of the code so that dbas can do something about the errors. Moreover, just because Oracle wants dbas to work upon these errors and troubleshoot them, oracle has made lookup tools in Metalink specifically so that dbas can look there and work upon these errors.
You are sayig that Oracle has not published error information. There is so much about working of Oracle which we don't know and chances are very less that will ever come to know.
Just my 2 cents to make the point clear.

pls guide with best practiceIn 11g, there is an extensive tracing that happens for the reasons best known to Oracle only. But if you want to disable it, Coskan had published a small post mentioning an undocumented parameter(which means you must think twice before using it) to disable it- disablehealth_check* . • Creating trace file in oracle 10g forms

    hii there,
I have developed an application in oracle 10g. but it's too slow . Now i have to trace forms . How can trace oracle forms.
please send it in details as early as possible. I don't know about this trace file generation.
    -----Sachin

    Hi,
To run SQL trace for a form :
    a. Get to the point in the form where you want to turn trace on.
For example, if the problem occurs on the commit, wait until you are
ready to commit, THEN turn trace on.
    b. Turn tracing on. In GUI versions: Help - Tools - Trace, enable tracing.
    c. Execute the steps you want to trace.
    d. Turn tracing off. In GUI versions: Help - Tools - Trace, disable tracing.
The trace file will be written to the subdirectory specified in the
'user_dump_dest' parameter in the INIT.ORA file.

  • Huge user trace files being generated under udump

last few days one of my database is generating huge number of user trace files under udump. I tried to investigate in alert.log file. But as I am not very expert to analyze the alert.log file I could not find the cause behind it. Only the ORA-00600: internal error code is found there. But it is a generic error . Please help.

Thank you again. I got the clue from your reply.
The error message is pasted below in short.
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [12333], [0], [0], [0], [], [], [], []
Current SQL statement for this session:
    BEGIN :1 := TESTDBA.LOCAL_SYSDATE_SFT_FNC( 1,:2,:3 ); END;
And it is obvious that the function had some problem recently. We need to investigate on that. Now my request is
Please guide me how to check in metalink with the value '12333' which came as argument of ORA-00600 error. Here my job was easy as I got the problem function name . By I want to know the art of analysing the error message in alert.log file.
Also tell me which places I should check regularly as a responsibility of a DBA ?
What are the common errors in Alert log file? Where I should be cautioned ? Where I should ignore. Give me some tips please. Do not restrict your discussion on Alret.log only . Also please cover all important areas. If you think I am taking much of your time then please send me some link or source of PDF etc.

  • How to change trace file location in Oracle Fusion Middleware

    Hi all,
I would like to know how to change the location of the trace file in Oracle Fusion Middleware - Report Server 11g ?
I notice there is logging.xml file in $ORACLE_HOME/config/ReportServerComponenent/logging.xml. In the xml file, it did specify the location of the diagnostic file and other log files.
Is it the correct way to reconfigure the location of the log file? I havent try it though. :D
    Thanks.

    Hi Fleix,
For additional instructions for Release 11i, see Note.167635.1 and Note.150168.1.
For additional instructions for Release 11.0.3 and 10.7, see Note.148982.1 and Note.135715.1.
    a. Append the following to the end of the URL used to login to the Oracle Applications:
    ?play=&record=collect&log=/tmp/oracle.FRD.log
** Note: The self service login URL will not work for creating FRD trace files. You may need to talk to your technical team to get the URL that accesses the forms server directly.
    b. If the URL to logon to 11i applications is:
    http://machine:9603/dev60cgi/f60cgi
Then the following label needs to be included:
    ?play=&record=collect&log=/tmp/'file_name'.frd
For example to create frd for above url log in to application as
    http://machine:9603/dev60cgi/f60cgi?play=&record=collect&log=/tmp/4764802.992.frd
    c. Now log into the application and go directly to the form with the problem and perform the actions which generate the error.
Once the error has been generated and cleared, immediately log out of the application so no additional diagnostics are captured.
    d. The diagnostics will be written to the file specifed after "log=". In the example, this would be /tmp/4764802.992.frd
    e. After reproducing the issue, log on the server side of the instance and go to the directory to /tmp (cd tmp)
    f. Retrieve the frd file: /tmp/4764802.992.frd
This file contains all the details about built-in programs, triggers, procedures in a FORM
    Thanks,
    Anchorage :)

  • How to scan 'immediate trace name SYSTEMSTATE level 10' trace files?

Hi ,my 20 TB of database is hanging and my manager told me to run the following system state dump and anaylse the trace file to see which processes etc are hanging the database.
    SQL>alter session set events 'immediate trace name SYSTEMSTATE level 10';
I got 2 trace files which are quite large....not sure what to look into.....can anybody plz suggest what to see if in them if database is not responsing
    Thanks
    gagan

If you dump a couple of hanganalyze every 60 seconds or so. You will be able to see wait chains and identify sessions that are progressing(slow) and those that aren't(hung). Then you can reference this information with the process information in the system state dump. A level 3 or 4 is ok for what you want. Still, if you are not sure where to look in the first place, best to log a SR with Oracle.

  • Too many trace files apparently created on behalf of Health Monitor

Every ~10 minutes I see two pairs of trc+trm files that appear to be nothing more than a nuisance. A nuisance because if you don't get rid of them, then commands such as "ls -lt | head" take too long to complete. Even after setting disablehealth_check=true, the files still keep coming. The only thing I can find is a correspondence between the rows in v$hm_run and these trace files.
The RDBMS appears to be working fine and there's nothing in the alert log that would explain their existence. Having said that, I'll go ahead and admit that I don't these are false negatives but it sure looks like they are.
Below is a sample of the two trace files in the 4 files that get created every 10 minutes. Thanks.

The corresponding data from v$hm_run (and the view definition itself) show that status = 5 means 'COMPLETED'. The interesting thing is that RUN_MODE.RUN_MODE is 'REACTIVE'. This seems to say that it's not a proactive thing. But if something is reacting, then why is it showing no error (i.e., ERR_NUMBER = 0)?

  • Excessive trace files in 11G on AIX 6.1

    Hello friends,
I have a few new Oracle 11g (11.1.0.7) databases running on IBM P560's, AIX 6.1.
After a few weeks of running these databases, I've noticed an excessive amount of trace files generated in the $ORACLE_BASE/diag/.../trace directory for various background processes and wondered if I might have a parameter set incorrectly. Note that there are no errors noted or references to the trace files in the alert logs, and I'm seeing the same behavior on two separate similar servers and databases.
I recall on HP-UX, setting ASYNC IO will cause thousands of trace files to be generated, but this seems new with 11g since we are not getting the trace files in our 10G environment.
For every trace file, there is also a 'trm' file.
    E.g.,
    DBAtst_dbrm_172144.trc
    DBAtst_dbrm_172144.trm
The trm file is a binary file, and the trc file is ascii.
Inside of the trace file, the contents are similar to:

Don Burleson has a great web page addressing trace files in 11G, but it doesn't mention anything about excessive trace files.
    http://www.praetoriate.com/t_debugging_adr_monitoring_tools.htm
I'm concerned that something is wrong and I should not be getting all these trace files. Plus, they will eventually fill up my disks if I don't keep them pruned down.
    Thanks.

According to an article on Metalink, this is not a bug. This is what was posted on metalink
    "Solution:
The bug 9056228 was closed as 'Not a bug'.
The messages are expected behavior due to the way the code is written. According to Development, these are not errors but some information Oracle dumps into trace files.
Customers need not to worry about anything about these messages. These are expected.
As a corrective action, these traces can be deleted at any time or ignored. "
    I hope this helps.

    Daniel,
The dbms_system package is an undocumented , internal-only package. Please don't use it. Instead of it, use dbms_monitor package to do the same task.

    Hi,
I have seen this issue on 10.2.0.2 too.
This tracing is on by default and you have to put in some cron job to remove the trace files.

  • Explain Plan from TKPROF trace file.

    Hello,
My procedure is taking time for that i have trace on in procedure fo find explain plan of particular query.
Using below statement Trace is on.
       EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET SQL_TRACE = TRUE';
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET TIMED_STATISTICS = TRUE';Now for getting expalin plan from TKPROF i have used below statement but for some query i have found explain paln and some case i cant found explain plan.
    tkprof mf_ora_23773.trc mf_ora_23773.txt explain =abc/abc
can u please help me to analyze where i m wrong?
    Thanks.

First of all, you should best avoid using the explain= clause on the tkprof command line.
This will run explain plan on the statement in the trace file, and that explain plan can even be wrong, as there is no information on datatypes in the trace file.
The real explain plan data is flushed to the trace file, when the program issues commit or rollback. Oracle always issues an implicit commit when the program disconnects, so when you run the program to completion you should have explain plan output in your trace files.
You won't get explain plan output if you don't have access to the objects in the SQL statement. Also recursive SQL won't produce explain plan result.
One would need to see part of your trace file to verify your assertion the explain clause doesn't always work.
