example, but you can google plenty of examples for a TSQL Merge statement for a SCD type 2 and then use an Execute SQL Task to execute the statement in SSIS.

Customized Execute SQL Task in SSIS

Hi,
I,m using Execute SQL Task in SSIS Package with these configuration ..
But, If SQL Statement doesn't report any record mean Query is not returning any data then this Task will be failed.
How can I assure that If there is no record is returning in query that " Execute SQL Task " should bot be executed .
Also I If I can do the same thing through other methods in SSIS, Pls response .

Hi Ashish,
The Execute SQL Task failed because you had set the ResultSet to “Single row”, however, the SQLStatement didn’t return any records. If you don’t want to execute this task when the query doesn’t return any records, you can use the following method:
Create a String type variable RowCnt, add another Execute SQL Task prior to this task.
In the new Execute SQL Task, input the SQLStatement as “Select Count(*) From Table”, set the ResultSet to “Single row”, and map the result set 0 to the variable RowCnt.
Join the two tasks (green line), and edit the Precedence Constraint (Green line), and set the expression to “(DT_I4)@[User::RowCnt]>0”.

I need to fetch data from multiple sql servers using SSIS scirpt task inside a foreach container.
is there anyway i can build dynamic sql connections using ssis variables inside SSIS script task in each loop

Your only options is using .net code, then it will be no different than using a console app in a loop.

and so forth for each connection string
the connection string would come from the ForEach loop

Import HL7 data in sql server using ssis

Could I know how to import HL7 data in sql server using ssis.
I am not aware of any .NET code.
Could someone provide me with any kind of custom code so I can try to understand and use it to my specifications.

As COZYROC said, HL7 is a type of EDI file. There is nothing built into SQL Server to handle this type of parsing. You will either need to buy something or write your own, which I do not recommend because it is much more difficult than you imagine.
You can use BizTalk to parse the data into an XML format which can then be processed by SQL Server.

Oracle version of SQL Server DTS/ SSIS.

Howdy all. Im starting to teach myself Oracle and have a couple of questions.
What is Oracles equivelant of SQL Servers DTS/ SSIS (ETL tool)? One of my hangups with SSIS (new to SQL Server 2005, replaced DTS in SQL Server 2000) is that it requires VB .net to accomplish certain things whereas DTS could use VB Script. That being said:
What lanuage(s) does Oracles ETL tool use when the GUI does not do what you need?
Are these tasks usually done by Developers or DBA's in the Oracle world. As a SQL Server DBA, I've done lots of these tasks throughout my career, but it seems as though MS is looking to redefine the lines between DBA and Developer (not just based on this, but other things as well).

Using SQL Server 2012 SSIS to Extract Data From SAP

Hi
What is the current best practice for using SQL Server 2012 SSIS to extract data from SAP R3? Please note we are looking for a solution that does not use SAP BW or SAP OHS.
Ideally we would like to build our ETL SSIS process to make a .NET call to an SAP RFC procedure and avoid using web services.
With SS2012 can we use any of these without using SAP BW:
- SAP .NET Connector
- MS ADO .NET
- BizTalk .NET 3.0 Adapter

You can use the .NET Framework Data Provider for mySAP Business Suite along with SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS) to import data from an SAP system into SQL Server database tables, flat files, or other compatible destination types. You can create an SSIS
package that can be executed to import data from an SAP system.
You must use the SQL Server Import and Export wizard to import data into the SQL Server database. You must provide a select query to specify data to be imported. The query must confirm to the semantics supported by the Data Provider for SAP. You can start the
SQL Server Import Export Wizard either from the SQL Server Management Studio or from an Integration Service project in Visual Studio. Detail steps please see:

How can I read a file with ASCII Special Character into a SQL table using SSIS 2008?

I've tried everything to read this file and am getting no where. Help how can I read this file and load a SQL table?
RS - AscII - 30 (Record Separator)

We can use script component as source/transformation to read the text file and assign the contains to a string. Split the string by chr(30) i.e RS and finally stored into an array or write to the output buffer of the script component.

Execute SQl Task Error SSIS Package

Hi all,
I`m using for each loop container in my package to grab the file name from the source path. I have created 2 vairables
FilePath and SourceFolder
I`m using execute sql task inside the container and this is my query
Insert into [dbo].[DCA_FF_TEST] (File_Name,File_Date) SELECT File_name = ?,
File_Date = GetDate()
Please not the Table I am trying to insert has more columns but at this stage I dont need them.
When i execute the task I get an error
[Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "
INSERT INTO [dbo].[DCA_FF_TEST] ([File_Name],[F..." failed with the following error: "The statement has been terminated.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters
not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
Can someone point me in the right direction? Am I missing anything?
Resultset property Set to None
Parameter Mapping: Variablename: FilePath , Direction: Input, datatype : Varchar, Parametername: 0, ParameterSize: 100.
I`ve checked the connection as well it works.

Get error from SQL AGENT: The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D024

I am running SQL Agent that executes an SSIS process from sql server1. The SSIS process executes its SQL/tables/sp’s against another sql server2.
I get an error after adding data flow tasks with transaction supported within a sequence with transaction required. The error, “The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D024 "The transaction
manager has disabled its support for remote/network transactions"
Prior to adding this sequence everything was working from sql agent, and there were other sequences with oledb destinations.
Everything works when running within SSIS Package.

DTC was running on remote computer. The problem was it was no longer accepting transactions from remote servers. This was in SSIS so I had to turn to "Transaction Supported" for all Data Flow Transactions.

Data Flow Task problems after installing SQL Server 2014 SSIS

I can't create any Data Flow Task. Once I create (tested and working) Connection (it doesn't
matter if it is Excel, Flat File or other) and try to use it with a Source Assistant, I get the following messages:

Multiple Select statements in EXECUTE SQL TASK in SSIS

Can we write multiple select statements in execute sql task(SSIS).
If possible how to assign them to variables in result statement

You can use below steps to set result set to variable.
1.In the Execute SQL Task Editor dialog box, on the General page, select the Single row, Full result set, or XML result set type(According to your result set).
2.Click Result Set.
3.To add a result set mapping, click Add.
4.From the Variables Name list, select a variable or create a new variable.
What is multiple selection ? May be below can be used in your scenario !

SQL task on SSIS, send execution process to email

Hello,
I have a package that run an SQL taks. This task takes some time, more than 24 hours.
I can see on the SSIS Progress Tab, that it add a row with information about the % of the SQL task running (% of instruccions).
I would like to be able to send an email with this % everytime it change. If not available, from time to time, Eg. Every hour.
How can this be acomplish ?

Hi Gilbert,
The percentage information which you see in execution results is not about the % completion of the task/package. When a task executes there are lot of SSIS pipeline events and some other events occurring for each task and are displayed in execution results
tab. If somehow you can capture these % messages it will not make much sense to send mails on each change in % message as these messages are too frequent and quite a lot in number (depending on number of tasks in your package).
The nearest I have logged is when these events started and finished by implementing SSIS Logging.
