Tab control navigation issue

I am wondering if this is a bug in the tab control and/or if there's a way to get it to work right that I don't know about. See attached example.

I created a new tab control in LV7.1 and that little button does not work for me either. The control seems very querky when I play around with the settings.

  • Events & Tab Control Navigation Buttons

In the attached example, I use a Tab Control with several pages, some of them being hidden.
To access them, I use the navigation buttons on the top right corner of the Tab.
Unfortunately, changing the pages using these navigation buttons does not trigger a "Value Change" event as it does when changing by clicking on the desired page.
This is visible in the upper control that is updated with the page name when the "Value Change" event is triggered.
How can I have the TabControl also triggering the "Value Change" event when selecting the pages with the navigation buttons ?

That's a good one, NI should have made the control fire the value change event in that case too. You could make a timeout event and check the value there (and fire an event for it if you wanted) but that's not very elegant. Personally I would go for multiline tabs, it's not often you see a tab with a scrollbar like that so the user's would probably find it more intuitive to have multiline tabs or another level of selection.

  • Pull tab menu navigation issue

I've been running into some issues within pull tabs. It’s currently being used for the navigation within the folio (see attached PNGs).
There seems to be a .125 second to even a .5 second delay on the interactivity with the buttons. The rate at which they respond is reacting differently each time they're touched but all are approximately within the interval .125 - .5 seconds. The navigation itself is a PNG and the interactivity is implemented through 8 rectangle frames converted into button forms placed over the top of their associated buttons. Have you ever heard of someone experiences issues concerning usability when converting frames into button forms?
I’m thinking that it’s got to be something to do with DPS not being able to respond to the created button forms appropriately or it’s a bug within the pull tab that delays button sensitivity implementing the lag when the user initiates it's action.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

My apologies, that portion was copied from an email I sent to a colleague regarding the matter.
I always convert no fill/stroke frames to buttons on top of the artwork - not the artwork itself. My co-worker who's been working with DPS for years does it differently. Wanted to confirm that.
Still having issues on response time..

Error is : identifier sdi3 not found.
    My java code is:

  • Tabs in navigation page (Tabs persistance problem)

    Hello all,
I'm looking for a workaround of tab persistence (the problem in post URGENT! TAB + Folder navigation Problem )
; is it possible, somehow, to make a navigation page with tabs, and in those tabs some kind of auto-redirection to the actual pages ? Or any other way using tabs? I just want to avoid image-map style navigation. This tab persistance feature is sooo anoying...
    Please help

    Hello
I gave it up using tabs for navigation issue. There are too many problems with that. Now I'm using URL-items within navigation pages and that works fine...

  • Keyboard Navigation with Tab Control

We have a tab control in a form and it has several pages.
On one of the tabs we show data from a multi row block, the first 3 columns are on the tab canvas, then we have a stacked canvas that scrolls left/right that shows the rest of the data. We fix the first three columns as they give context to the rest of the rwo that is scrolled within the tacked region.
    Now the problem:
When focus is on one of the columns displayed on the tab page we can press CTRL-TAB and the tab switches to the next tab page.
If focus is on one of the fields on the stacked canvas CTRL-TAB doesn't navigate to the next tab page - it attempts to switch windows.
It looks like the items that aren't onthe tab canvas, but are on the stacked canvas, aren't party to the CTRL-TAB event?
Has anyone else experienved this problem? Or know of a work around?
    Regards,
    Bren

When I use CTRL-TAB just the trigger key-next-item fires. In our environment we use CTRL-PageUp/Down to switch the tab canvas. But I think the event that is really fired is key-nxtblk. So on forms-level I added the triggers key-nxtblk/prvblk that call my procedure next-/previous-tab-page.
In the when-new-forms-instance trigger I initiate a plsql-table, that has the following record type as a rowtype:
    TYPE TabPage_Rec IS RECORD
    (TabPage Varchar2(80),
    First_item Varchar2(80));
So each tab page 'knows' its predecessor and successor. I then implemented two procedures next_tab_page and previous_tab_page, that iterate the plsql-table and set the canvas_property TOPMOST_TAB_PAGE to the requested value and navigate to the first item on the tab page.
That way you are mostly independent of the way your form is designed (blocks, items, order in object navigator). It is a bit of an investment and you have to keep it consistent to the way your form changes tabwise, but I found it quite handy.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Bettina

  • Multi-Tab Canvas Navigational Controls

I want to control navigation out of a block displayed on a "tab" canvas to other "tabs" in a form containing multiple tab canvases. Are ther any "events triggers" associated with the "tab" level similar to the "WHEN_BUTTON_PRESSED" trigger such as "WHEN_TAB_SELECTED"?
I assume I must place the triggers on the block (or blocks) associated with the respective tabbed canvases.
    null

The trigger must be placed at the form level. Use "if :system.cursor_block = 'BLK'"
    to code for each tab.

  • Controlling navigation between tabs.

    Hi all,
I have 5 tabs in a sequence in a tab strip control. The first tab is the main tab. The user has to enter data into this tab before he can proceed to anyother tab. My problem is that I have to navigate to a specific tab based on the data he enters on the main tab i.e. when the user selects a specific check box and presses the enter key, the system will navigate to that tab for data entry. Any help on how i can do this will be appreciated.

    hi
Store the tab name into tab control activetab field like  mytabstrip-activetab = 'yourtabname'.if not working, use function code of tab.

    Hi All,
I am handling UK Payroll and got an issues related to payroll run and control record,

Issue 2: How control record allowed user to Exit control record for period in which EE's skipped in payroll
Please provide your valuable suggesting in regard to resolve the above two issues,

    Hi,
Issue 1: The payroll driver (RPCALCG0) has skipped around 1500 Employees against payroll run for particular period
Say you want to run payroll for FEB..
But payroll control record may not be in FEB... It may be in March..
Issue 2: How control record allowed user to Exit control record for period in which EE's skipped in payroll
Payroll control record may have been deleted on the month of Jan..& been set in Release mode in March month directly...
So feb month gets skipped & Exit mode in Feb is skipped too...
For detailed info.. Go to PA03 enter payroll ares & click display option..
Under Go To tab.. look for Control Record Log..

  • Horizontal tabs when they are on the left side of tab control

I have a tab control for a touch screen where I was going to use buttons along the left side to change tabs, and hide the tabs. However, I realized I can put the tabs on the left side of the tab control and remove my buttons all together. Only issue is, I would like them (along with their font) to be horizontal, not vertical as they are shown in my screenshot. Is there a way to change this?

It's a really poor design aspect of tab controls that the text is sideways when the tabs are on the left or right side.
I've looked into it and found no way to re-orient the text.
However you can put images on the tabs instead of text, and the images can be of text (correctly oriented of course).
The attached code can be used to generate such a tab control.

  • Scaling of Tab-Control do not work correct

When I use the option "rescale objects on the front panel when resizing" in the "window size" category inside the VI properties, then my tab control has a wrong behavior. When I increase my window size, the tab control increases correctly. When I decrease it again, the tab control do not decrease and overlays the other controls.
Also a horizontal decoration line becomes a transversal line and my string control seems to scale different from the other controls so I get overlay effects again.
Does anybody know some hints how I can fix this ? If not this feature is not usable and I get some problems with customers with different monitor resolutions.
    Many thanks for any idea
    Thomas

Yes, there is a known issue with the scaling of tab controls with the window size. This will be fixed in the next release of LabVIEW. For now there is a workaround that might help:
Only scale the tab control as the panel resizes. Leave the "Scale all Objects on front panel as the window resizes" unchecked. Select the tab-control and go to edit->Scale Object with panel. This will not scale the objects within the pages.
In general please refer to this document for further information about misplacements that may occurr with the rescale option.

  • Tab Control/Display Data

    Hello All,
I have an issue with displaying large amounts of data. What my program does is calculate INL/DNL errors on analog to digital converters, when the program runs it generates 3 graphs and a couple of numbers. The idea is to be able to run the program a couple of times and be able to compare data from run to run. My idea was to use the property nodes of a "TAB CONTROL" and create a new tab each run through and store the new graphs and data there. Is this possible? I have not yet figured out how to do so. If anyone has a solution to this or advice on how best arrange such items so they can be easily accessed I'm open for suggestions. Thank you for your time.
    Regards,
    Kenneth Miller

OK, I spend a few minutes to wire up an example showing my idea above (LabVIEW 7.1). It can be easily adapted for more complex problems such as yours. (E.g. add timestamps, add events for printing, saving, etc. ...)
I think it is a better solution than layers of tabs. Enjoy!

  • How to upload tab-control data through LSMW.....

    Hi,
I have to upload the data using the LSMW ....in their i have tab-control...how i have to upload the data of tab-control through LSMW....
Reply me early..if u have any idea...
    Phani

    Hi Phani,
LSMW will have a Indicator for headr and itam, i do not remember the correct field, but it will have an indicator, check the fields, there will be a single charecter lenght field, that should be the indicator, and using that we can write the logic.
check that single charecter field, it that is X that means the header record is processed, and do the items.
and, this is another way, try this out also
YOu can do this in "Define Source Structures" step,
    the HEADER is defined first,
then the DETAIL below the HEADER.
add the fields to the structures.
Both should have some common key field
Please take care that the name of the common field is the same.
Once you do this it is linked. The you have a header and item corresponding to that header. then run the LSMW as you would.
let me know if any issues.
    Thanks

  • Displaying an Incorrect page in a tab control

I'm coming across a weird issue for the first time. I've got a typedef tab control, and when I open the VI, the contents of the first page are displayed in the control, even though the first page is not the active tab. I've attached an example VI. When test tab.vi is opened, you'll notice the String page is active, but the Boolean control is visible. This persists even when the VI is run. Switching pages makes the correct controls display. This only seems to happen when the tab control is a typedef, but I haven't done any thorough testing.
I've observed this on 8.20, which is the most recent version I have installed. I looked for, but didn't find, this issue in the 8.5 or 8.6 bug fix lists. Can anyone confirm that this is happening or let me know if it does not persist in more recent versions?

However, once I operate the tab, go back to the string tab, make current values default, and save, things are OK next time I open it.
It is also good in 8.2.1 once I do the same.
