Table AGR_AGRS - selection results not sufficient ??
I want to select all customer activity groups (single roles) which are NOT included in a composite role.
With the transaction SUIM I got the list of all used single activity groups.
Then I put them in the selection criteria of table AGR_AGRS (SE16) as "child AGR".
All (child) activity groups which are not in the result list are single, right?
NO!!! I made I test with a huge composite activity group: Its children roles are not all listed! Some are, some are not.
Can You explain, please?
Thanks a lot!

> I want to select all customer activity groups (single roles) which are NOT included in a composite role.
It's allways difficult to find things that are not there
My suggestion is to do the following:
1- Make a download from AGR_DEFINE containing all single roles you want to check and store it in a spreadsheet.
2- Make a download from AGR_AGRS and store this in the same sheet.
3- For each row in the first download, find out if it is in the CHILD_AGR column of the second one. In Excel the function VLOOKUP will be helpful.
Hope this helps,
Jurjen
If you ever want to look for empty composites, those are the ones that appear in AGR_FLAGS with FLAG_TYPE "COLL_AGR" and FLAG_VALUE "X" but cannot be found in AGR_AGRS.

APO DP - use of tables for selections and notes
I am using APO DP V5.
I note that tables for holding selections and notes are planning area specific and have tables names such as /1APO/S1nnnnnnnn and /1APO/F1nnnnnnnn respectively.
My questions:
1. What is the logic for the naming of these tables
2. For a given planning area, are the tables names the same as one moves from Development to QA to Production environments
Thanks,
Bob AustinBob
I think the answer for the notes part of this question is here. The logic for the selections should be the same
Re: Updating of Notes for cells in APO DP
The table names might not be the same in QA since they are created independently and dynamically. But one way to check is to try it out -
Why DDL during SELECT is possible. Or why SELECT does not put a table lock?
This is a question to people who really knows Oracle internals or/and RDB theory.
(The question is relocated from another thread for not hijacking on that's original question.)
Why DDL during SELECT is possible? Or why SELECT does not put TM 2 Row Shared lock on table(s)?
This not locking causes a possibility while one session is running a long select, another can truncate and even drop table(s) that are being read by the first session.
I think, humbly assume, that Oracle does not put TM 2 lock on tables, that are being simply SELECTed, by some significant technical reason. But I do not know this reason. If somebody knows please shed a light.
Also, if you know that this behavior is totally correct from perspective of RDB theory, please explain me.
I'll try to explain my point.
It is a matter of data consistency and integrity that is supported in Oracle everywhere except this place.
a) If one session is reading data from moment T and other session changes data on its way at moment T1, the first session wont read that changed data, it will read the data that was there on moment T.
This is declared as Read Consistency principle.
b) If one session is changing data, and another session tries to truncate or drop table - the second session will fail with error ORA-00054: resource busy and acquire with NOWAIT specified.
This is declared as Data Integrity principle.
c) But why not to follow the above principles in case when one session reads data and another session tries to truncate or drop table (or do other DDL operations)?
It is counter-intuitive. Why not to put TM 2 (SS) lock during SELECT execution that would prevent DDLs on this table?
What I only can assume is that this is only because some technical difficulty or limitation.
What is this limitation or other reason in favor of which Oracle sacrificed consistency in this case?user11181920 wrote:
Aman,
There was no need to clarify how DML lock works, I know that.
Also I know that in Oracle a Select does not lock neither table rows nor table itself.
The reason I mentioned it because you brought up the word change which is far better suited for DML's than DDL's as the former has a requirement to have its Undo preserved.
Again, my question was why Select does not protect itself by locking table(s), partitions and indexes?Protect from what? There is nothing wrong with doing a select. What would happen with a select doing a lock on the table before being executed in its entirety (forget DDL and DML altogether for a moment) ? State one good reason that there should be a lock for the select. If it has to, it would be always isn't it?
The keyword here is concurrency and that's what is the best when the number of locks obtained are lesser at non-required operations. A select doesn't change anything that's why in Oracle, there is no read-level lock.I am not saying about row locks while reading. They are not needed because Undo resolves concurrency.Only in the case of DML where the change is still active and the buffers are dirty. With a DDL, its an implicit commit.
I am asking why Select does not enqueue one, only one lock per object that participates in the Select?Again, my question back to you is, what good you would get from it? What purpose it would solve?
It is not very expensive, I suppose. But it would protect from DDLs that can destroy the Select's result set. You have seen in your system and in my demo(and that's what the the question was on the other thread also) that the result remains intact and its not a behavior from now. Its the same since the time I have started learning Oracle. Can you explain that why you think that the result of select statement would be wrong for a drop table? I believe, its been stated repeatedly that if the select has no requirement to look back the table, it would get completed. Only if the select needs to access the table again, it would fail. So even if we consider your explanation, there is no wrong result shown at all. Once the session encounters that the table is dropped for the statement, the execution stops right away. So where is the destroyed result?
Yes, it is less dangerous when Select does not lock table comparing with what would happen with DMLs in such case (that is why DMLs protect themselves by TM 3), it affects only the Select and its consumer, but still ... I don't understand this Oracle's decision. What is a reasoning behind it?.As I said, to improve concurrency.

After installing iOS6, my Maps are not working at all, anything i search it says "result not found" even after placing a pin and selecting "Direction to here" i get the same result not found. Very disappointed with the new iOS.
Have you run it in a debugger? That will show you exactly what is happening and why.

My table of contents does not use the entry style I select for words in the paragraph that have character styles applied to them in the chapter, so some of the letters, specifically parameters, are showing up green, which is fine in the chapter but not in the TOC. I can manually fix this in the TOC by changing the character style to none after the toc has been generated, but I don't want to do this.
What application are you running? Please ask this in the forum of the product you're using.

Select event not triggered in table with only one row
Hi all,
I am building a BI VC application where query data is displayed in a table. When the user clicks on a table row another query is then triggered and output in a second table. The output from table 1 is linked to the input of query2/table2 with a select event.
The problem that I am facing is that if there is only one row in table 1, the select event is never triggered. If, however there are two or more rows in the table the select event is triggered and query 2 is executed. I have searched the forums but all I could find on select event problems was how to avoid the initial select event.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and what is the workaround or is this a bug in Visual Composer? We are on VC 7.0 SP19.
Cheers,
Astein MelandThanks Chittya,
Yes we have considered this option as well. But as we have more than one table linked together we would like to avoid having to manually click several buttons.
In the end I found Note 1364334 describing bugfixes released in VC 7.0 SP20:
"Normally, when a Visual Composer table is populated from a data service, the first row is selected by default. However, we have found that if only one data row is returned from the data service, this row is not selected by default and cannot be manually selected by clicking on it either."
So I think we will just have to upgrade our Portal to the latest support packs to solve this problem.
Thanks,
Astein -

SSAS Cube Hierarchy Default Member, not aggregatable in pivot table multi select, Urgent
Hi All,
I have one problem in my project ssas cube. one of the dimension hierarchy, a value has been set up as default member in calculation tab.
The problem is:
When i filter (select multiple) this defaulted value and other value in excel pivot, it is always showing default member value instead of selected members aggregated value. if i remove default member it is working fine. Can you please provide work around
for this.
Please note that, if select multiple values within that hierarchy (this time not selected default value), aggregation is working fine.
Thanks, RajendraHi Hirmando,
According to your description, the default member cause incorrect data when dragging a attribute that contain a default member to the FILTERS area, right?
I can reproduce this issue on my environment, when dropping this dimension in the filter area of my pivot table and select multiple members including the default member then only data for the default member is shown. Currently, it's hard to say the root
reason that cause this issue. In order to narrow down this issue, please apply the latest server pack and cumulative update.
Besides, you can submit a feedback at
http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback So that microsoft will confirm if this is a know issue.

Select dba_users - ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
Hi,
I need to access dba_users to show some information on a report but could not access from apex it show every time
failed to parse SQL query:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
The problem is only on apex I could access from sqlplus or others tools.
ThanksHi Scott, Rafael and Ben,
I assume this then means that the parsing schema needs objects to be granted directly rather than through a role, the same as if you are parsing object references in pl/sql.
Rafael, there is a view called all_users to which you have access, but it provides much less information.

Table or view does not exist when using in PL/SQL block
I hav something strange...
When i execute a query it works just fine... When i use the exact same query in a function i want to create, i get the error 'table or view does not exist'
I create the function with the same user then when i'm executing the query.
For example:
select name,userid from portal.WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOGS
if i execute this... it works fine. I get my results.
However when i create a function:
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION EBUSINESS.GET_USER_CREATOR (p_userid IN Varchar2) return VARCHAR2
as
/*CURSOR c_user_creator IS
select distinct name,userid from portal.WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOGS
where sub_domain = 'user' and action = 'create'
and name = p_userid;*/
v_creator varchar2(500);
v_ret_val VARCHAR2(500) := 'NOT_FOUND';
BEGIN
select userid into v_ret_val from portal.WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOGS
where sub_domain = 'user' and action = 'create'
and name = p_userid;
--v_ret_val := x.userid;
--end loop;
-- Is the user in the group or not?
/*OPEN c_user_creator;
FETCH c_user_creator INTO v_creator;
IF c_user_creator%FOUND THEN
v_ret_val := v_creator;
ELSE
v_ret_val := 'NOT FOUND';
END IF;
CLOSE c_user_creator;*/
Return v_ret_val;
END;
The table or view does not exist...
I tryed with cursor, select into, for x in (select....)
Nothing works.
A select grant is a select grant right? Are there different grant you should use so you can select it into a function or just do a normal select?
I also tryed to create a view that just sais select * from WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOGS but that doesn't work...Are there different grant you should use so you can
select it into a function or just do a normal select? Yes. Grants on objects used in functions/procedures must be given directly to the user, and not through a role. -

How to create a temp table in the memory, not in disk?
in sql server, you can create a temp table in the memory instead of disk,
then you can do the insert, delete,update and select on it.
after finishing, just release it.
in Oracle,
I am wonderfing how to create a temp table in the memory, not in disk?
thanks,Thanks for rectifying me Howard.
I just read your full article on this too and its very well explained here:
http://www.dizwell.com/prod/node/357
Few lines from your article
It is true, of course, that since Version 8.0 Oracle has provided the ability to create a Keep Pool in the Buffer Cache, which certainly sounds like it can do the job... especially since that word 'keep' is used again. But a keep pool is merely a segregated part of the buffer cache, into which you direct blocks from particular tables (by creating them, or altering them, with the BUFFER POOL KEEP clause). So you can tuck the blocks from such tables out of the way, into their own part of the buffer cache... but that is not the same thing as guaranteeing they'll stay there. If you over-populate the Keep Pool, then its LRU mechanism will kick in and age its contents out just as efficiently as an unsegregated buffer cache would.
Functionally, therefore, there can be no guarantees. The best you can do is create a sufficiently large Keep Pool, and then choose the tables that will use it with care such that they don’t swamp themselves, and start causing each other to age out back to disk.
Thanks and Regards -
Error while deploy mapping ora-06550 table or view does not exist
Hi everyone,
i have a target source 'U_BCK' that cointains some Oracle table.
I have also created a target schema 'BCK_OWNER' where i create some dimensions and cubes with mappings.
My mappings connect some table from U_BCK with dimension or cube from BCK_OWNER.
My repository owner is called 'rep_owner' and i used this user to create every metadata.
Now i'm trying to deploy, and i don't have any problem until deploying mappings. When i try to deploy mappings i get some errors like ora-06550,ora-00942 table or view does not exist and statement ignored.
Please help me and sorry for my english...
Thanks,
Alex.The mapping, that drives the data from one table to another is deployed to the database as a PL/SQL package. When deploying your mapping fails, it most often means that the resulting PL/SQL package doesn't compile in the database.
Using Oracle SQL Developer (or Toad, SQL Navigator or any other tool) connect to the schema on the database where you have deployed the mapping. Open the pl/sql package and compile it. That should show you the place where the compilation fails, and give you an idea as to what table it can not find. Otherwise, in SQLPLUS, you can simply give the following command:
ALTER PACKAGE THE_PACKAGE_NAME_GOES_HERE compile body;
show errors;
As the database user who owns the source tables, make sure to issue a GRANT command for each of the source tables, granting SELECT access to the database user who owns the mapping:
grant select on TABLENAME to TARGETSCHEMA.
hope this helps

http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:119
But it is not working for me.
I'm a newbie to APEX and checked the forum for advice on cascading select lists. I saw the thread for
"Cascading Select Lists - Not Working" posted by sue and the replies by Varad Acharya, but I'm still
having issues of not seeing the alerts, not able to run the pl/sql process in SQL Workshop, and not
getting the expected results.
I have a list of countries (US - USA, CA - CANADA, etc.) and a list of states for each country. When a
user selects a country I would like to show the list of states within that country.
This is what I've done so far:
Defined an application process:
Process Point: On Demand: Run ... by a page process.
Name: CASCADING_SELECT_LIST1
Process Text:
BEGIN
OWA_UTIL.mime_header ('text/xml', FALSE);
HTP.p ('Cache-Control: no-cache');
HTP.p ('Pragma: no-cache');
OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;
HTP.prn ('<select>');
HTP.prn ('<option value="' || 99 || '">' || '- All States -'
|| '</option>'
FOR c IN (SELECT state_code || ' - ' || state_desc d, state_code r
FROM tbk_state
WHERE country_code = :cascading_selectlist_item_1)
LOOP
HTP.prn ('<option value="' || c.r || '">' || c.d || '</option>');
END LOOP;
HTP.prn ('</select>');
END;
defined and application item:
Name: CASCADING_SELECTLIST_ITEM_1
Build Option: - No Build Option -
Created a 'Form on a table with report' as follows:
Page 5: Report on TBK_HARDWARE_LOCATION
Page 6: Form on TBK_HARDWARE_LOCATION
in HTML Header of the page attributes for 'Form on TBK_HARDWARE_LOCATION' I have:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
htmldb_delete_message='"DELETE_CONFIRM_MSG"';
//-->
</script>
<script>
function get_select_list_xml1(pThis,pSelect){
var l_Return = null;
var l_Select = html_GetElement(pSelect);
alert ('Dept no=' + pThis.value);
var get = new htmldb_Get(null,html_GetElement('pFlowId').value,
'APPLICATION_PROCESS=CASCADING_SELECT_LIST1',0);
get.add('CASCADING_SELECTLIST_ITEM_1',pThis.value);
gReturn = get.get('XML');
// gReturn = get.get();
alert('Enames=' + gReturn);
if(gReturn && l_Select){
var l_Count = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("option").length;
l_Select.length = 0;
for(var i=0;i<l_Count;i++){
var l_Opt_Xml = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("option");
appendToSelect(l_Select, l_Opt_Xml.getAttribute('value'),
l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue)
get = null;
function appendToSelect(pSelect, pValue, pContent) {
var l_Opt = document.createElement("option");
l_Opt.value = pValue;
if(document.all){
pSelect.options.add(l_Opt);
l_Opt.innerText = pContent;
}else{
l_Opt.appendChild(document.createTextNode(pContent));
pSelect.appendChild(l_Opt);
</script>
On Page 6: 'Form on TBK_HARDWARE_LOCATION' I have the following items (plus some others):
Name: P6_COUNTRY_CODE
Display as: Select List
HTML Form Element Attributes: onchange="get_select_list_xml1(this,'P6_STATE_CODE');"
Source Used: Only when current value in session state is null
Source Type: Database Column
maintain session state: Per session
Source value or expression: COUNTRY_CODE
Named LOV: LIST OF COUNTRIES
Name: P6_STATE_CODE
Display as: Select List
Source Used: Only when current value in session state is null
Source Type: Database Column
maintain session state: Per session
Source value or expression: STATE_CODE
Named LOV: - Select named LOV -
List of Values definition:
select state_code || ' - ' || state_desc d, state_code r
from tbk_state
where country_code = :P6_COUNTRY_CODE
order by 1
LIST OF COUNTRIES is defined as:
select country_code || ' - ' || country_desc d, country_code r
from tbk_country
order by 1
Now to the problem:
I run page 5 (the report) to see the list of locations and then I try to edit a record (page 6). When I
try to select a different country I get the following error (on IE):
"Problems with this web page might prevent it from being displayed properly or functioning properly.
In the future, you can display this message by double-clicking the warning icon displayed in the status
bar.

p=114:6:1413254636072443110::::P6_HARDWARE_LOCATION_ID:2
I don't see any of the alert messages.
I also tried to run the application process code in the SQL - Command Processor (I replaced
:cascading_selectlist_item_1 with 'CA' or 'US') and got the following:
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh

Can someone help me please?Varad,
First, thank you for taking the time to try to help me with this problem.
When I view the page's source code (here are the first few lines):
<html lang="en-us">
<head>
<script src="/i/javascript/core.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/i/css/core.css" type="text/css" />
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
htmldb_delete_message='Would you like to perform this delete action?';
//-->
</script>
<script>
function get_select_list_xml1(pThis,pSelect){
var l_Return = null;
var l_Select = html_GetElement(pSelect);
//alert ('Dept no=' + pThis.value);
var get = new htmldb_Get(null,html_GetElement('pFlowId').value,
'APPLICATION_PROCESS=CASCADING_SELECT_LIST1',0);
get.add('CASCADING_SELECTLIST_ITEM_1',pThis.value);
gReturn = get.get('XML');
// gReturn = get.get();
//alert('Enames=' + gReturn);
if(gReturn && l_Select){
var l_Count = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("option").length;
l_Select.length = 0;
for(var i=0;i<l_Count;i++){
var l_Opt_Xml = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("option");
appendToSelect(l_Select, l_Opt_Xml.getAttribute('value'),
l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue);
get = null;
function appendToSelect(pSelect, pValue, pContent) {
var l_Opt = document.createElement("option");
l_Opt.value = pValue;
if(document.all){
pSelect.options.add(l_Opt);
l_Opt.innerText = pContent;
}else{
l_Opt.appendChild(document.createTextNode(pContent));
pSelect.appendChild(l_Opt);
</script>
It looks like line 17 is:
var l_Select = html_GetElement(pSelect);
I'm still not sure why I'm getting this error and why it's not working?
Thanks,
Eti
