Table Catalog has no effect on existing table

We are using FrameMaker 11 in a Windows 7 environment.
This is what happens.
1. We go into our chapter template and verify that "Table A" is formatted exactly how we want it.
a. The table has a heading row.
b. The heading row is shaded light blue.
c. The heading row has a medium border on top and bottom.
d. The heading row has text in is that is set to a Table Heading paragraph style.
e. The table's last row has a bottom ruling of medium.
f. All ruling in the table is set to a shade of blue.
2. We save the chapter template.
3. We open a book's chapter.
4. We apply the table formatting from the chapter template to the book chapter.
5. We find a table that was made without a heading row, but the top row was formatted to resemble the heading row in appearance. The table also has black ruling.
6. We block the entire existing table.
7. We click on "Table A" in the table catalog.
Expected behavior: The existing table takes on the exact formatting of "Table A" (the six points mentioned above under #1).
Actual behavior: Nothing happens.
We have to manually exchange the top row for a real heading row, fiddle with applying ruling information from Customer Ruling and Shading, and so forth.
Are we doing something incorrectly?
Thanks in advance.
Tim

>> d. The heading row has text in is that is set to a Table Heading paragraph style.
> Use the Custom Cell Ruling and Shading to strip the overrides off of the table.
That, alas, won't affect the paragraph formats used in existing tables, unless FM behavior has changed from the FM7 I run at home. I just tried it.
The Table Designer really needs a new tab for default para formats, as it is obviously keeping a template structure somewhere for new tables, which DO get the revised formats. Another item for the FM14.3 wishlist, I suppose.

  • Is it possible to create table variable by copying structure of existing table?

    Greetings community,
    It’s a newbie question.
I’m still learning T-SQL, and I’m not very familiar with its syntax, so I’m not sure if I’m asking something stupid. I’m creating a “stored function”. I need to create temporary table variable to do some “thinking” in it and spit out a
scalar result. Actually, I have to create about ten similar functions to process ten tables in similar way, so I was searching is it possible to speed it up.
I was wondering is there any way, instead of declaring table variable with list of gazillion columns (and having the possibility to mistype something), to declare table variable so it would inherit structure of existing table.
    Thanks for any help.

Temp table variable can not be created on the fly, but temp table can be created.
If you want just the structure, you can use the below.
    SELECT Top 0
    INTO #temp
    FROM
    Sales.SalesOrderHeader

  • JDeveloper 10.1.3.4: text-align for table column has no effect

    Hi,
I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4. In a tabe I have a column that displays numbers, which are left-aligned by default:
    Applied
    $50.00
    $2,160.00
    $50.00
$2,260.00I want to have them aligned to the right to look neater:
    Applied
             $50.00
          $2,160.00
             $50.00
$2,260.00Or better still, have the cell with the longest string aligned to the center, and all the other cells align to it by the decimal point:
        Applied
          $50.00
       $2,160.00
          $50.00
$2,260.00I looked in the property inspector and the only thing that looks closest to the purpose is text-align. I set this attribute to right (text-align:right) for the column, and for the outputText, but neither has effect. Everything is still flush to the left. How to get it right?
    Thanks!

    Hi, Branislav,
    Nice meeting you again.
Last time the question was about formatting the total amount returned from the method, from String to Number, Re: JDeveloper does not handle expert SQL, cannot add query clause in view link, which can also format the number as currency.
This time, your answer again solved my problem. I was looking in the inline styling section, and did not notice this property in the General section. Thank you so much for your help!

  • Create table for existing table

    dear all
I have a partition table with millions records and i want to create table from that table
and i want the new table that i create it is contain the same structure(partition) and contain all data
    i write this code
    create table abc as select * from cda;
but this script donot work as i want (same structure(partition) and contain all data)
    so anybody can help me
    best regards

And it is not possible to alter the structure of the table in place? It sounds like you are going to be copying all the data from the current table to a new table and then back to the existing table once the existing table has been altered-- that is going to be very expensive in terms of resources, time, downtime windows, etc. Generally, you can just alter the table in place...
Assuming you really want to copy all the data twice, and that the new (staging?) table really needs to have the same partitioning scheme as the primary, the DBMS_METADATA suggestion would seem to work. Moving the data from the exisiting table to the staging table, you might consider partition exchange if you want the staging table to have the same indexes that the current table has.

  • Creating Partitions in Existing tables with Data

    Hello everyone,
I want to know what the best way of creating partitions, in tables having data, is .. ???
    thanks
    Rossy Rocs

    There are two ways :
1a Create a new Partitioned Table
1b Copy data from the existing table to the new table
    1c Create Indexes
    1d Rename old table
    1e Rename new table
    OR
    2 Use DBMS_REDEFINITION

  • SRM MDM, Error, "Table with Code 'null' does not exist in repository"

    Hi experts,
We has SRM MDM scenario, while doing OCI settings, we are able to connect with MDM repository but getting follwoing error message in portal, "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Table with Code 'null' does not exist in the repository 'Repository' or is one of the system table (e.g. Workflows) that is not exposed in repository schema"
    Can You please suggest,
    Thanks and Regards,
    Munish

    Hi everyone,
Sudhanshu and Anshuk:- Thanks for your response, let me try and explain the real scenario in details:-
We have deployed the SRM-MDM Catalog Search UI in Portal.
    We tried accessing the http://<Portal Host>:<Portal Port>/SRM-MDM/SRM_MDM
Then we got a screen (Search UI App screen), where in we have provided the MDM Server name, then the MDM Server Password, then presses the Connect button, then below this, it displayed the Repository name created in the MDM. We have selected the Repository, then provided the Credentials of a User (Name: T_CORP) in MDM which has "Catalog Manager", and the "UI Configuration Manager" Roles. Please note that these Role names were created by us in MDM. Is it the right procedure or do we have any standard Roles delivered by SAP in MDM to map? If any standard Roles are available, where we need to check these.
Once the Credentials of MDM User is provided, and then selected the "Login" button.
Then we are getting the below error.
"java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Table with Code 'null' does not exist in the repository 'Repository' or is one of the system table (e.g. Workflows) that is not exposed in repository schema"
Please clarify; we are not configuring any values in iViews. Where we need to do this, I mean name of the iView, and what values do we need provide generally? We are just running the Search UI App application; I don't think it is an iView, because the URL shows the Application name details, etc...
Please guide us, how to fix this Error.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Munish

  • Error trying to relate tables "...either doesn't exist or doesn't have a relationship to any table available in the current context"

    I have two tables;
The first is my Order table which has a single row for each unique order - there are no duplicate order numbers. The order id column here is called
    OrderID.
The second is my Submissions table which is similar to a transactions table, there are multiple submissions for every order. This table also contains an
OrderID column that contains the relevant OrderID.
The submission table also contains a calculated field called Date and a calculated field called
MaxDate field which is the date of the most recent submission that relates to any particular order in cases where there are multipple.
My goal is to add a column to the Order table this MaxDate column. The reason for duplicating the information rather than linking the tables is because I need to create more calculated columns in the
Orders table based on this value.
I have created a relationship between the two tables however when I use:
    =RELATED(Submissions[MaxDate]
    I get this error:
"...either doesn't exist or doesn't have a relationship to any table available in the current context"
I don't really understand why this would be, because MaxDate definitely exists and contains only numerical values. What is more strange is that if I try and combine the data through a pivot table it actually works! I can create a pivot with OrderID in the first
column and then associate it with MaxDate from the Submissions
    table as the value.
Can anyone help me understand what is the problem here?
P.S. if it is useful the formula I'm using to calculate the MaxDate is:
    =MAXX(FILTER(Submissions,Submissions[OrderID] = EARLIER(Submissions[OrderID])),[Date])
    Thanks.

Maracles, is this still an issue?

  • How can I convert an existing table to IOT

    Hi,
    My Oracle version is 10.2.0.4

    It has 1141580 rows.
I want to convert this into index Organized table. It has no secondary indexes.
How can I convert an existing table to IOT.
    CREATE TABLE test_table (
       Column1             NUMBER        NOT NULL,
       Column2             DATE          NOT NULL,
       Column3             VARCHAR2(100) NOT NULL,
       Column4             VARCHAR2(8)   NULL,
       Column5             VARCHAR2(40)  NOT NULL,
       Column6             VARCHAR2(3)   NULL,
       Column7             NUMBER        NOT NULL,
       Column8             NUMBER        NULL,
       Column9             VARCHAR2(32)  NULL,
    ALTER TABLE test_table

ADD CONSTRAINT test_table_cons1 FOREIGN KEY (
        Column1
      ) REFERENCES test_table2 (
        Column1
    /

alter table doesn't allow to change the organization of a table.
So the logical answer to your question is
    You can not
    and your question
    redundant.
    As most other questions here.
So the answer should have been
    - create a new table
    - insert all rows
    - drop the old table
    - rename the new table
Oracle is not about rocket science.
Oracle is about reading documentation and using brains.
If you do that, maybe, one day, you will be a bigboy.
If you keep asking redundant questions you will remain a littleboy.

  • Loading data from .csv file into existing table

    Hi,
I have taken a look at several threads which talk about loading data from .csv file into existing /new table. Also checked out Vikas's application regarding the same. I am trying to explain my requirement with an example.
I have a .csv file and I want the data to be loaded into an existing table. The timesheet table columns are -
    timesheet_entry_id,time_worked,timesheet_date,project_key .
    The csv columns are :
    project,utilization,project_key,timesheet_category,employee,timesheet_date , hours_worked etc.
What I needed to know is that before the csv data is loaded into the timesheet table is there any way of validating the project key ( which is the primary key of the projects table) with the projects table . I need to perform similar validations with other columns like customer_id from customers table. Basically the loading should be done after validating if the data exists in the parent table. Has anyone done this kind of loading through the APEX utility-data load.Or is there another method of accomplishing the same.
Does Vikas's application do what the utility does ( i am assuming that the code being from 2005 the utility was not incorporated in APEX at that time). Any helpful advise is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Anjali

    Hi Anjali,
Take a look at these threads which might outline different ways to do it -
    File Browse, File Upload
Loading CSV file using external table
Loading a CSV file into a table
you can create hidden items in the page to validate previous records before insert data.
    Hope this helps,

  • User-defined field in existing table

    Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to add a user-defined field in an existing table.
Actually, I would like to add a combobox with other types of partners than vendors, customers and leads and add a user-defined field in the OCRD table.
    Thank you
    Regards,
    Thibault

    Hello,
Your answers help me a lot !
My code is working, i.e. when I create a new BP and choose another type in my comboBox, the information is saved.
When I search a BP who has this type, SAP find the good BP.
But, I don't see where the data is stored, I don't see anything which make the difference between 2 BP with 2 different types in the OCRD table.
So, where SAP can make the difference?
    Thank you

  • Datapump : How to append data in an existing table

    Hello Everyone,
    We are new to Datapump.
We try to extract data from one user/schema and to append it into another user/schema.
First we tried Tt use the parameter table_exists_action=append during the importation but we receive this error (but the rows are appended):
ORA-39152: Table "XXXXX"."YYYYY_ZZZ" exists. Data will be appended to existing table but all dependent metadata will be skipped due to table_exists_action of append
Which I don't expect since the utility have been told to, indeed, append data.
Next we tried to use CONTENT=DATA_ONLY on exportation and importation but the importation never end.
How can we append data into a table's user/schema without having an error?
    Best regards.
    Carl

IGNORE=Y during the import.it does the same operation. if the table already exists,it ignores and proceed with importing/appending data to the tables. same way, they do have indexes=n and constraints=n option.
both export/import have equivalent options for fitering to our requirement and datapump has one step above classic import in which you can filter upto metadata object as well.

  • How to insert columns in an existing table?

iv read the tutorial in this site http://www.w3schools.com/sql/sql_alter.asp but it is not for SQL Server 2000 DB.
Im using SQL Server 2000 DB. how do i insert column in an existing table?
i tried to execute the code (String query) below but it doesn't wrk:
    For data type char:
    String query = "ALTER TABLE [dbo].["+tablename+"] ADD [columnname] [char] (60) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NOT NULL";
    For data type int:
String query = "ALTER TABLE [dbo].["+tablename+"] ADD [columnname] [int] NOT NULL";________________________
is what's wrong with the code?

Best solution would be to look up the exact syntax from the SQL Server 2000 documentation. The tutorial you have there teaches the ANSI Standard SQL. It is surprising that SQL Server 2000 (Microsoft right?) doesn't comply with that (especially since they list it in as one of the ones the tutroial was made to demonstrate).
I would double and triple check your sintax, whatch your error logs to make sure something else isn't preventing you from changing, and making sure you are logged in to the DB as a user who has the ability to alter tables.

  • How to add an unique column to an existing table?

How to add an unique column to an existing table?
I have a large table which has no unique constraint. and I want to add an unique column for it. How to do it?
Does adding a sequence is a good choice? How to do it?
    Thank you

    Hi,
    alter table tablename
add constraint contraint_name unique (columnname);but before that you need to check in the table.column there is no duplicate record exist.
Does adding a sequence is a good choice?
Your talking about unique constraint then yes.

  • How to effectively manage large table which is rapidly growing

    All,
My environment is single node database with regular file system.
    Oracle - 10.2.0.4.0
    IBM - AIX
A tablespace in this database is growing rapidly. Especially a single table in that tablespace having "Long Raw" column datatype has grown from 4 GBs to 900 GBs in 6 months.
We had discussion with application team and they mentioned that due to acquisitions, data volume is increased and we are expecting it to grow up to 4 TBs in next 2 years.
In order to effectively manage the table and to avoid performance issues, we are looking for different options as below.
    1) Table is having date column. With that thought of converting to partitioned table like "Range" partitioning. I never converted a table of 900 GBs to a partitioned table. Is it a best method?
         a) how can I move the data from regular table to partitioned table. I looked into google, but not able to find good method for converting to regular table to partitioned table. Can you help me out / share best practices?
    2) In one of the article, I read, BLOB is better than "Long RAW" datatype, how easy is to convert from "Long RAW" datatype. Will BLOB yield better performance and uses disk space effectively?
    3) Application team is having purging activity based on application logic. We thought of using shrinking of tables option with enable row movement- "alter table <table name> shrink space cascade". But it is returning the error that table contains "Long" datatype. Any suggestions.
Any other methods / suggestions to handle this situation effectively..
Note: By end of 2010, we have plans of moving to RAC with ASM.
    Thanks

    To answer your question 2:
    2) In one of the article, I read, BLOB is better than "Long RAW" datatype,
how easy is to convert from "Long RAW" datatype. Will BLOB yield better
performance and uses disk space effectively?Yes, LOBs, BLOBs, or CLOBs are (supposed) to be better than raws (or long raws). In addition, I believe Oracle has or will shortly be desupporting the use of long raws in favor of LOBs, CLOBs, or BLOBs (as appropriate).
There is a function called "to_lob" that you have to use to convert. Its a pain because you have to create the second table and then insert into the second table from the first table using the 'to_lob' function.
    from my notes...
    =================================================
    Manually recreate the original table...
Next, recreate (based on describe of the table), except using CLOB instead of LONG:
    SQL> create table SPACER_STATEMENTS
    2 (OWNER_NAME VARCHAR2(30) NOT NULL,
    3 FOLDER VARCHAR2(30) NOT NULL,
    4 SCRIPT_ID VARCHAR2(30) NOT NULL,
    5 STATEMENT_ID NUMBER(8) NOT NULL,
    6 STATEMENT_DESC VARCHAR2(25),
    7 STATEMENT_TYPE VARCHAR2(10),
    8 SCRIPT_STATEMENT CLOB,
    9 ERROR VARCHAR2(1000),
    10 NUMBER_OF_ROWS NUMBER,
    11 END_DATE DATE
    12 )
    13 TABLESPACE SYSTEM
    14 ;
    Table created.
Try to insert the data using select from original table...
    SQL> insert into SPACER_STATEMENTS select * from SPACER_STATEMENTS_ORIG;
    insert into SPACER_STATEMENTS select * from SPACER_STATEMENTS_ORIG
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00997: illegal use of LONG datatype
    That didn't work...
    Now, lets use TO_LOB
    SQL> insert into SPACER_STATEMENTS
    2 (OWNER_NAME, FOLDER, SCRIPT_ID, STATEMENT_ID, STATEMENT_DESC, STATEMENT_TYPE, SCRIPT_STATEMENT, ERROR, NUMBER_OF_ROWS, END_DATE)
    3 select OWNER_NAME, FOLDER, SCRIPT_ID, STATEMENT_ID, STATEMENT_DESC, STATEMENT_TYPE, TO_LOB(SCRIPT_STATEMENT), ERROR, NUMBER_OF_ROWS, END_DATE
    4 from SPACER_STATEMENTS_ORIG;
    10 rows created.
    works well...
