TABLE FUNCTION call - cast - InvalidType ORA-06550

hello, I keep getting the following exception: +"... PL/SQL: ORA-00902: invalid datatype ORA-06550: line 7, column 1: ..."+
I created type here:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE types
AS
TYPE TmpHiearchyMapTableType IS TABLE OF TMP_HIERARCHYMAP%ROWTYPE INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
END;
Then my TABLE FUNCTION resembles...
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION spGetParentsTable
ObjectId number,
ObjectClassifier varchar2
RETURN types.TmpHiearchyMapTableType
IS
TmpHierarchyMap types.TmpHiearchyMapTableType;
BEGIN
     RETURN TmpHierarchyMap;
END;
I tried to invoke the table function and loop through it by:
DECLARE
oMappingTable types.TmpHiearchyMapTableType;
BEGIN
-- This OKAY!
oMappingTable := spGetParentsTable(2,'ThinkFundamentals.Util.Security.SystemUser');
-- FAILED here! "Invalid Type"!?!
select * from table(cast(oMappingtable as types.TmpHiearchyMapTableType));
dbms_output.put_line('done!');
END;
Thanks!

hello I managed to switched from "Associate Array" to "Nested table" but still having trouble SELECT * FROM table(...), it keep saying "Invalid DataType" - detail as follows:
-- NOTE 1: Here's how I create the object type (Be nice if I can just say "CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE TmpHierarchyMapObjType AS OBJECT      (TMP_HIERACHICAL.ROWTYPE)" instead of having to duplicate column definition.
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE TmpHierarchyMapObjType AS OBJECT
Id numeric(19,0) ,
ParentId numeric(19,0),
ChildId numeric(19,0),

  • PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'P_MAIN' ORA-06550

    I have 2 environments: a development environment and a production environment. Both have the same package.
    Calling the package from APEX in the production environment it gives a error:PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'P_MAIN' ORA-06550.but the data is stille be saved.
    But calling the package in development environment nothing happened.
    What can be the problem???
    regards,
    ekas

    That's not what he asked: is it possible that a package with the same name exists in another schema on the production server - also is it possible that an synonym for the package exists in the production server which doesn't exist in the development? =>All synonym that exist in the production database also exist in the developmenst database.
    Also, you haven't provided details of how you performed these tests to establish that one works where the other doesn't. Are you testing the package within the context of an apex application or have you isolated any test case to the PL/SQL code only - could you run a test of the package within something like SQL*Plus (or your favourite IDE)? Are you feeding in identical test data? Indeed, do you have a unit test script which you can run on both development and production?
    => I have test the package in the content of a apex application, and the data in the production enviroment is not the same as in the developement enviroment due to real data in production.

  • TABLE  FUNCTION OR CAST WITH TABLE FUNCTION

    Consider following scenario:
    I've a function which returns nested table of employees.
    I am calling this function in some other procedure and building a query dynamically.
    Sample code looks like
    CREATE OR REPLACE  PROCEDURE TEST_PROC( P_EMP_ID   IN   NUMBER,
                                            O_EMP_LIST OUT  SYS_REFCURSOR) IS
    v_tbl_emp_id       tbl_emp_id;
    begin
    v_tbl_emp_id :=  fn_get_usr_list (P_EMP_ID);--fetches employee id  reporting to given emp id
    v_select_clause :=
             'SELECT EMP_NO,EMP_NAME,DEPT_NO';
    v_from_clause := ' FROM EMP';
    v_where_clause1 :=
                ' WHERE emp_no IN (
                          SELECT  COLUMN_VALUE
                                     FROM TABLE
                                             (CAST
                                                 (:v_tbl_emp_id AS tbl_emp_id
    --AND I AM APPENDING AND CLAUSES BASED ON VARIOUS CONDITION
    v_qry :=     v_select_clause  || v_from_clause|| v_where_clause1;
    OPEN O_EMP_LIST FOR v_qry USING v_tbl_emp_id;
    END TEST_PROC;I CAN REWRITE THE SAME CODE AS
    CREATE OR REPLACE  PROCEDURE TEST_PROC( P_EMP_ID   IN   NUMBER,
                                            O_EMP_LIST OUT  SYS_REFCURSOR) IS
    begin
    v_select_clause :=
             'SELECT EMP_NO,EMP_NAME,DEPT_NO';
    v_from_clause := ' FROM EMP';
    v_where_clause1 :=
                ' WHERE emp_no IN (
                          SELECT  COLUMN_VALUE
                                     FROM TABLE(fn_get_usr_list (:P_EMP_ID)))';
    --AND I AM APPENDING AND CLAUSES BASED ON VARIOUS CONDITION
    v_qry :=     v_select_clause  || v_from_clause|| v_where_clause1;
    OPEN O_EMP_LIST FOR v_qry  USING P_EMP_ID;
    END TEST_PROC;Now I would like to know which one performs better
    USING TABLE ALONE OR USING CAST ALONG WITH THE TABLE FUNCTION?
    AND PLEASE HELP ME ON FORMATTING CODE.
    I've added tags still its not formatting!!
    Thanks,
    NM

    fixed {noformat}{noformat} tags

    To be sure which is better you will have to test them both. You can use either AUTOTRACE or Oracle trace (tkprof) to get run metrics - system resources used when running both versions of the query. AUTOTRACE won't provide CPU information, but if you can find the qieries in (G)V$SQL you can find it there. Oracle trace is more effort but should provide more metrics. I could do it if I have privileges :(..
    All I can do is check the time taken by the both procedures using set timing on, which gives same result for both.
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

    alter table tableName drop constraint constraintName ;
    You cannot drop an index being used to enforce uniqueness. You must drop the constraint - which will also drop the index. You also cannot drop a unique constraint being used as a reference of a foreign key. Adding the keyword CASCADE will allow you to get around that, but it will destroy the FK references.
    alter table tableName drop constraint constraintName CASCADE ;

    The PLS-00306 error is normally a runtime error. It is telling you that the call to procedure ENTPRFMAN had either too few or too many parameters passed to it or that one or more of the parameters were of the wrong datatype.

  • ORA-06550/PLS-00201 error while configuring data source

    Hi,
    My development platform is Visual Studio 2005, ODAC11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.20), and Oracle 10g Release 2 database.
    I tried to setup a sqlDatasource in my web page using drag and drop features
    When I configure the sqlDatasource to use a stored procedure inside a package,
    I notice that odp.net uses #0# as separator (instead of .) between package name and procedure name in Configure Data Source dialog box. Then when I clcik the Test Query button, I got following error.
    There was an error executing the query. Please check the syntax of the command and if present, the types and values of the parameters and ensure they are correct.
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
    PLS-00201: identifier 'PK_LOOKUP_TABLE#0#P_LIST' must be declared
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored
    It looks like odp.net cannot locate PK_LOOKUP_TABLE#0#P_LIST.
    Is there any workaround ?
    Below is the stored procedure code. It compiles and runs without problem.
    PACKAGE BODY pk_lookup_table
    AS
    /* Get a list of lookup table name */
    PROCEDURE P_LIST (
    O_CURSOR OUT sys_refcursor )
    IS
    l_cur sys_refcursor;
    BEGIN -- executable part starts here
    OPEN l_cur FOR
    SELECT table_name
    FROM all_tab_comments u
    WHERE u.comments LIKE '%Lookup Table%'
    ORDER BY 1;
    o_cursor := l_cur;
    END P_LIST;
    END "PK_LOOKUP_TABLE";
    On the sqlDataSource property sheet, if I click the Select Query property, the Command and Parameter Editor will open, then I can change the select command name to PK_LOOKUP_TABLE.P_LIST. Then if I run the application, I get another error.
    Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
    Exception Details: Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException: ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
    PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'P_LIST'
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored
    Seems that it can locate the procedure.
    In the Command and Parameter Editor dialog, I can add output parameter, but data type is restricted. There is no REF CURSOR datatype in the dropdown list.
    How can I add output parameter with REF CURSOR type via IDE ?
    Thanks for the time looking into this issue.

    db.ExecSql_ReaderDataTable(ProcedureName(FPAGET, "GetCurrencyFromScenario"), CommandType.StoredProcedure, params)
    End Function
    The PL SQL code that contains the function is called as below:
    Procedure GetCurrencyFromScenario (
    asUserName varchar2,
    DataSetType varchar2,
    DataSetName varchar2,
    CurrType varchar2,
    asCurrency out fpa_operating_variable.value_text%type) is
    begin
         asCurrency := 'EUR';
         return;
    end;

    I wasnt posting duplicates. I posted the first time on PL SQL forum, but was guided to post it on ODP.net as it is more of related to VB.net. Hence I reposted it there.
    Moderator: can you lock this thread if you want and activate the other thread?
    As mentioned, I flipped the two variables and 'asDatasetName' and 'asDatasetType' and tried it. But is still failed.
    Regarding the "fpa_operating_variable.value_text ", yes it is a varchar2. I rechecked the same.
    Thanks for all the help in responding.

  • Error on /pls/apex/wwv_flow.show HTTP-404 ORA-06550: line 25, c

    Following on from the previous problem I had with Error 33331, we moved the application to a new APEX installation. Everything was fine for 30 mintes until
    we started getting this error :-
    PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'SHOW'
    I've put in tracing in the httpd.conf file at info level and switched on mod_plsql tracing. Everything went fine for another 40 minutes but we're now getting the same errors, the following is one of the mod_plsql trace files.
    I have a hunch caching is at the root of the problem ?

  • Returning multiple function calls as one

    Hi,
    Lets say I have a function f() which returns a cursor. f() is called via jdbc and the results processed as a resultset.
    I would like to know if it is possible to construct a second function, g() which contains 2 calls to f() such that a single cursor is returned (which translates to a concatenated result set from the 2 calls to f)
    Any info appreciated, many thanks,
    dan

    It is in general not a good idea to attempt to perform this union of two cursors.
    What about issues such as dealing with different number of columns? Different data types? Or sort order?
    The sensible approach says that one deals with all this at SQL level. In other words, before you get to the application programming (PL/SQL or Java) level. It is very inefficient to attempt to do the SQL Engine's job at application level. You need to re-invent a lot of wheels. And none of these will turn as fast as the SQL wheels, and nor will the self-rolled wheels have shiny mags. ;-)
    Why cannot function F() simply return a cursor that is a pointer to a parsed SQL statement that does the union of the two SQL statements you have in mind?
    Why not add a parameter to function F() to tell it whether you want result 1, result 2, or a combination of both?
    As for whether it can be done.. yes, it can be hacked. But it will not be performant. It will waste a lot of expensive server memory that can be put to far better use.
    One method to do this is to create a pipelined table function called G(). Both ref cursor pointers are passed to G(). G() fetches a row from a cursor, and then simply pipe that row as a result. It iterates through both cursors.
    To use G() you will need to call it via the SQL Engine. The major problem with this is that you are now doing double the amount of I/O to get to the results. G() duplicates all the I/O.
    As G() runs in the PL/SQL engine, and the cursor pointers refers to data to be fetched using the SQL Engine, a lot of context switching (and pushing data from one stack to another) needs to be done.
    So not only will this blow I/O, but also increase CPU.
    So the question is why go to all this trouble? Surely it makes a lot more sense to stick to fundamentals - use SQL as it has been designed to use. Use ref cursors for the purpose they have been designed.

  • Error while deploy mapping ora-06550 table or view does not exist

    Hi everyone,
    i have a target source 'U_BCK' that cointains some Oracle table.
    I have also created a target schema 'BCK_OWNER' where i create some dimensions and cubes with mappings.
    My mappings connect some table from U_BCK with dimension or cube from BCK_OWNER.
    My repository owner is called 'rep_owner' and i used this user to create every metadata.
    Now i'm trying to deploy, and i don't have any problem until deploying mappings. When i try to deploy mappings i get some errors like ora-06550,ora-00942 table or view does not exist and statement ignored.
    Please help me and sorry for my english...
    Thanks,
    Alex.

    The mapping, that drives the data from one table to another is deployed to the database as a PL/SQL package. When deploying your mapping fails, it most often means that the resulting PL/SQL package doesn't compile in the database.
    Using Oracle SQL Developer (or Toad, SQL Navigator or any other tool) connect to the schema on the database where you have deployed the mapping. Open the pl/sql package and compile it. That should show you the place where the compilation fails, and give you an idea as to what table it can not find. Otherwise, in SQLPLUS, you can simply give the following command:
    ALTER PACKAGE THE_PACKAGE_NAME_GOES_HERE compile body;
    show errors;
    As the database user who owns the source tables, make sure to issue a GRANT command for each of the source tables, granting SELECT access to the database user who owns the mapping:
    grant select on TABLENAME to TARGETSCHEMA.
    hope this helps

  • Getting ORA-00600 when using table functions

    Hello,
    I am trying to use simple table function:
    create or replace type StatCall AS OBJECT (
    dial_number varchar2(255),
    start_date date,
    duration number(20)
    create or replace type StatCallSet AS TABLE OF StatCall;
    create or replace package ref IS

    end ref;
    create or replace function GetStats(p ref.refcall_t) return StatCallSet pipelined is
    out_rec StatCall;
    in_rec p%ROWTYPE;
    BEGIN
    LOOP
    FETCH p INTO in_rec;
    EXIT WHEN p%NOTFOUND;
    out_rec.dial_number := in_rec.dial_number;
    out_rec.start_date := in_rec.start_date;
    out_rec.duration := in_rec.duration;
    PIPE ROW(out_rec);
    END LOOP;
    CLOSE p;
    RETURN;
    END;
    select * from TABLE(GetStats(CURSOR(select * from call)));
    And I get:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17285], [0xFFFFFFFF7C4900A8], [1], [0x3943BA5E0], [], [], [], []
    Oracle 9.2.0.2
    Are there any ideas about how to fix this?

    What version of the database?
    Which flavor of Disco (Plus, Desktop, Viewer)?
    Standars EUL or Apps EUL?
    Can you post the code for the calculation?
    ORA-600 errors, as you mentioned, are internal, and may require opening a dialog with Oracle support. Then again, it could be something else in the calculation that is causing the sky to fall.
