Table with LOV's verry slow

Hi All,
I have a tabel with 6 lov's on a row. I now have 15 rows and loading the table is verry slow!
Why is that? Are there executed 6*15= 90 query's when the table is loaded?
How Can I improve performance? Because now it is not workable.
Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
I still have this issue. Does someone knows a workaround for this?
Thanks in advance.

  • Select on table with 1800 rows is slow

I have a table with 1800 rows. Each entry has a geometry position and a geometry polygon around the position. I am using the polygon to detect which (other) entries are near the current entry.
In the following testdata and the subsequent query, i am filtering on 625 (of 1865) rows, and then using the .STContains-method to finding other rows (the testdata is fully found by this query, in the live database the values are not so regular as in the testdata.
The query take 6500 ms. In the live database, only 800 records are (yet) in the table, and it takes 2200 ms.
    select SlowQueryTable.id
    from SlowQueryTable
    inner join dbo.SlowQueryTable as SlowQueryTableSeen
    on SlowQueryTable.[box].STContains(SlowQueryTableSeen.position) = 1
    where SlowQueryTable.userId = 2
(The query in the live system is even more complex, but this is main part of it and even simplified as it is just takes too long).
This script generates test data and runs the query:

    --on SlowQueryTable.position.STDistance(SlowQueryTableSeen.position) < 5
    where SlowQueryTable.userId = 2
    drop table #t1
    drop table SlowQueryTable
    drop table numbers
Using an explicit index hint does do the job, but then the query gets slow if i change the where clause:
    select SlowQueryTable.id
    into #t1
    from SlowQueryTable
    with (index([SlowQueryTable_box]))
    inner join dbo.SlowQueryTable as SlowQueryTableSeen
    on SlowQueryTable.[box].STContains(SlowQueryTableSeen.position) = 1
    where SlowQueryTable.userId = 2
leads to 600ms, and changing the where clause
    where SlowQueryTable.id = 100
slows it again down to 1200ms.  Filtering on ID get massively slowed down when using index hint on the spatial index.
Since the table in the live system will grow to 10000+ rows, and the query is called often by users, I badly need a more efficient query.
Do I have to create a different queries for each use-case, some with index hints and some without?

I've run your example and can confirm your results. There's a couple of things that I noticed though.
After looking at query plans, it's not a matter of "with spatial index" vs. "without spatial index". You have two spatial indexes, one on each column (position and box). When you don't hint the "box" spatial index, the query
uses the "position" spatial index. Because of what they are indexing (points vs. polygons), the "box" spatial index requires a lot more IO. With some (non-spatial) predicates, the "box" spatial index gives better performance,
with others the "position" one does. I've yet to figure out exactly why (short on time, I might get back to it in future), but you can examine query plans and use the spatial index diagnostic procs (e.g. sp_help_spatial_geometry_index_xml ) in
addition to the diagnostics you're running to see why and if you can find a better performing plan/index.
Bear this in mind. Given a choice of multiple spatial indexes, the SQL Server query optimizer is not able to choose (for the most part, IO etc. aside), which one is best. Also, there is usually only one choice of spatial query plan shape, in general. If
your query is more complex than the one in your example, you might benefit by breaking it in two: one query to filter out all the rows and predicates that don't use a spatial index and one query that uses the spatial index on the subset. I've had good
luck with this other situations with complex queries involving spatial predicates. This method may not be applicable to a spatial query as simple as the one in your example, however.
    Hope this helps, Bob

  • Issue with LOV data populating to table column - Urgent

    Hi,
I have done a create record screen.
It contains an advanced table with few columns. One of the columns is an LOV in every row to be added.
The user would select a value from LOV for column1 and key in values for other columns.
However, when I click on Add (PFR gets invoked), I get an error
    'Row1 <col name> - Select a valid value'.
    Ex: LOV shows 3 records X, Y, and Z.
I choose value X . It gets populated in table column. I enter value for fe other columns and click on Add.(which invokes PFR)
but the moment I click on Add, I get an error, Row1 <column name> - select a valid value
It displays same error in the tabel column also as in OAAttrValException.
Any inputs to solve this would be great help
    Thanks,
    Kamath.

Your statement "Looks like VO2 is not being attached to the adv table in PFR?" holds the key to your issue.
Are you trying to attach the VO in PFR? Only a selected properties can be modified for beans in PFR. Put your code in processRequest and it should work.

    Hello,
I bought 2 months ago Mac book pro 8,2  intel core i7 2760 QM  CPU@ 2,4 ghz 8 core,  I installed boot camp, 64 bit , and everything is running verry slow, boots up verry slow, programs, browser runs very slow, and i have a problem with my wirless connection, i get , after a wile of usage "Limited Connection" and i have to reconnect to network ( on other notebooks i dont have this issue) .
My computer runs slow because of my Hard drive 5400 rpm?
And how can i preserve my battery, are there Spare batteries on the internet for this macbook.
Sometimes when i play alot, my computer gets very hot. What cooler do you recomend for macbok pro, i heared that fan coolers aren't verry good.
If i use my macbook pro alot , it can break or something?
<EDIT> I forgot to tell, i cannot update to my lates graphic card software, i can''t update anything. I download the update and it tells me that its not compatible with the hardware. (and yes, it is the right version 100% compatible)
    Thanks for your help.

  • Input Text with LOV in table, the search list will be limited with 25 row?

    Hi, experts
I got a strange problem with JDev 11.1.1.5.0, I created Input Text with LOV in Data View for one attribute with default setting, the LOV worked fine when I drop the DC with 'ADF form'; but when I drop it with ADF Table, the search function will just show 25 rows, I can see it try to fetch data when scroll down just like form, but then nothing happened, only the first 25 rows will be show without any error log.
Any special configuration needed for LOV in table? or a bug in LOV?
    many thanks.

You can change the range size on the VO which you use for the LOV. If you only want to change it for the VO the lov uses, select the VO in question in the application module data model and clic edit. There you enter -1 fro raneg size.
If you want to change it globaly for this VO you open the VO and select the Tuning section and check 'all at once' which should get you all rows. Be careful that the VO don't return too much rows. A LOV wiht more then 50 rows is too big. In this case you may choose an other component.

  • Problem with Lovs in same row of table

    Hi all,
I am using two lovs in a row of advanced table. In first lov I am searching for few attributes and storing on of the values in a formValue(by using addLovRealtions(....,...,...,LOV_RESULT,...)). Based on this value I am using LOV_PASSIVE_CRITERIA to serach a value in second LOV. But when I am clicking on torch to search it's showing following message:
you must enter a value for searchVersionId as criteria for LOV.
    where serachVersionId is formValue.
But Same LOVs if used outside this table are working properly. Can you guys please help me to pass value to formValue. I am posting that code snippet also where I am setting Lov relations.
    //Set lov for Code
    OAFormValueBean versionId = (OAFormValueBean)
    webBean.findChildRecursive("searchVersionId");
    OAMessageLovInputBean codeSystem = (OAMessageLovInputBean)

    if(codeSystem!=null){
    codeSystem.addLovRelations(pageContext, "searchVersionId",

Adding the lovMaps will work for items outside the table at any point of time, since the ids dont get changed for LOVs. However inside the table, every lov in each row will go through some id transformation, this will not allow dynamic lov maps to be added after the Lovs are rendered. You should have them relations declaratively

  • Performance issues with LOV bindings in 3-tier BC4J architecture

We are running BC4J and JClient (Jdeveloper 9.0.3.4/9iAS 9.0.2) in a 3-tier architecture, and have problems with the performance.
One of our problems are comboboxes with LOV bindings. The view objects that provides data for the LOV bindings contains simple queries from tables with only 4-10 rows, and there are no view links or entity objects to these views.
To create the LOV binding and to set the model for the combobox takes about 1 second for each combobox.
We have tried most of tips in http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/tips/muench/jclientperf/index.html, but they do not seem to help on our problem.
The performance is OK (if not great) when the same code is running as 2-tier.
Does anyone have any good suggestions?

I can recommend that you look at the following two bugs in Metalink: Bug 2640945 and Bug 3621502
They are related to the disabling of the TCP socket-level acknowledgement which slows down remote communications for EJB components using ORMI (the protocol used by Oracle OC4J) to communicate between remote EJB client and server.
A BC4J Application Module deployed as an EJB suffers this same network latency penalty due to the TCP acknowledgement.
A customer sent me information (that you'll see there as a part of Bug# 3621502) like this on a related issue:
We found our application runs very slow in 3-Tier mode (JClient, BC4J deployed
as EJB Session Bean on 9iAS server 9.0.2 enterprise edition). We spent a lot
of time to tune up our codes but that helped very little. Eventually, we found
the problem seemed to happen on TCP level. There is a 200ms delay in TCP
level. After we read some documents about Nagle Algorithm,  we disabled a
registry key (TcpDelAckTicks) in windows2000  on both client and server. This
makes our program a lot faster.
Anyway, we think we should provide our clients a better solution other than
changing windows registry for them, for example, there may be a way to disable
    that Nagle's algorithm through java.net.Socket.setTcpNoDelay(true), in BC4J,
or anywhere in our codes. We have not figured out yet.
Bug 2640945 was fixed in Oracle Application Server 10g (v9.0.4) and it now disables this TCP Acknowledgement on the server side in that release. In the BugDB, I see backport patches available for earlier 9.0.3 and 9.0.2 releases of IAS as well.
Bug 3621502 is requesting that that same disabling also be performed on the client side by the ORMI code. I have received a test patch from development to try out, but haven't had the chance yet.
The customer's workaround in the interim was to disable this TCP Acknowledgement at the OS level by modifying a Windows registry setting as noted above.
    See Also http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=328890
"New registry entry for controlling the TCP Acknowledgment (ACK) behavior in Windows XP and in Windows Server 2003" which documents that the registry entry to change disable this acknowledgement has a different name in Windows XP and Windows 2003.
Hope this info helps. It would be useful to hear back from you on whether this helps your performance issue.

  • Issue in retrieving all the records from ADF Table with multiple row

    Hi,
As per my requirement, I need to fill the table with multi selected LOV values and when user clicks on commit, I need to save them to database.

  • Takes long time to drpo tables with large numbers of partitions

    11.2.0.3
This is for a build. We are still in development. No risk of data loss. As part of the build, I drop the user,re-create it, re-create the objects. Allows us to test the build all the way through. Its our process.
This user has some tables with several 1000 partitions. I ran a 10046 trace and oracle is using pl/sql to do loops to do DML against the data dictionary. Anyway to speed this up? I am going to turn off the recyclebin during the build and turn it back on.
anything else I can do? Right now I just issue 'drop user cascade'. Part of is the weak hardware we have in the development/environment. Takes about 20 minutes just to run through this part of the script (the script has alot more pieces than this) and we do fairly frequent builds.
I can't change the build process. My only option is to try to make this run a little faster. I can't do anything about the hardware (lots of VMs crammed onto too few servers).
This is not a production issue. Its more of a hassle.

Support Note 798586.1 shows that DROP USER CASCADE was slower than dropping individual objects -- at least in 10.2    Not sure if it still the case in 11.2

  • How to get current row of Advanced table with no submit

    I have an advanced table with an 'Add another button'. When an empty row is created by clicking this button, LOV is used on the first column to populate other fields of the row. The rows of the table carry a button called "Add dependencies" whose functionality is to take the user to a different table to add rows to a different VO. This button is just a button and not a submitButton. I am passing the row's primary key as part of the URI as Vo attribute FdTaskId={@FdTaskId}
The button works perfectly fine for database fetched rows (rows already present in the database), but, for the rows created using 'Add Another button', though LOV populates all fields including the primary key, the URI parameter passes null to the next page. That means, the VO attribute is not set. This works fine only when a 'submit' happens in the first page. For example, if I click Add another row again, then the previously inserted row passes the primary key fine as part of {@FdTaskId}.
Could you please help me how I can resolve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Datta

I am doing exactly that. My issues is that, VO attribute is passed correct for the table rows which are fetched from the database. For the table rows which got created through 'Add Another button', the VO attribute passed through URI as {@FdTaskId} is returning null. The VO attribute sets only when a form submit happens. For example, after adding a row through 'Add another row' button, click the same button again to add one more row and now go back to previously added row and now you can see that its VO attribute is set ({@FdTaskId} carries value )

  • Importing a table with a BLOB column is taking too long

I am importing a user schema from 9i (9.2.0.6) database to 10g (10.2.1.0) database. One of the large tables (millions of records) with a BLOB column is taking too long to import (more that 24 hours). I have tried all the tricks I know to speed up the import. Here are some of the setting:
    1 - set buffer to 500 Mb
2 - pre-created the table and turned off logging
    3 - set indexes=N
    4 - set constraints=N
    5 - I have 10 online redo logs with 200 MB each
6 - Even turned off logging at the database level with disablelogging = true
It is still taking too long loading the table with the BLOB column. The BLOB field contains PDF files.
    For your info:
Computer: Sun v490 with 16 CPUs, solaris 10
    memory: 10 Gigabytes
    SGA: 4 Gigabytes

    Legatti,
I have feedback=10000. However by monitoring the import, I know that its loading average of 130 records per minute. Which is very slow considering that the table contains close to two millions records.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Problem importing a table with blob's

hi all, I'm facing the following situation.
    Source DB : 10.2.0.3 (client's DB)
    Destination DB (mine): 10.2.0.4
I've a dump file (traditional) of a particular schema.
I'm running import (imp) to import on my DB.
It runs fine until it reaches one particular table. This table has 6 colums, 3 of them are BLOB.
This table has 260000 rows (checked with export log).
When import reaches row 152352 it stops loading data, but import is still running.
what can I do to get more information from this situation in order to solve this problem?
    Any suggestion will be appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.

Pl identify the source and target OS versions. Are there any useful messages in the alert.log ? How long did the export take ? Rule of thumb states import will take twice as long. Have you tried expdp/impdp instead ? Also see the following -

  • How to populate a jsf table with an array?

I have a JSF project where I'm using a table and I would like to populate that table with some custom information without using a database. I'm trying to write my own data provider. I was wondering if anyone knows how to populate a jsf table using an array. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey thanks for replying. I'm not quite sure what you mean, but I am using a woodstock table in Netbeans. I would love to skip writing the data provider since I've never done that before, but I'm not sure how I would go about populating the table with a regular List or Model. I have populated a JTable with my own model, but never a woodstock table. They don't seem to work the same way. Thanks for the help. I've spent hours trying to figure this out.
