Tables in jsp

Hi .............
I am having say a thousand records in my database i need to create a html table to view all these records in ten segments i.e i need to divide the records say ten parts with navigation button(like google search).............
when i click the button for the first time i need to see first hundred records and when i click button for the second time i need to see second hundred records................

JSP cannot dynamically update the contents of a web page once it has been displayed inside a web browser. Essentially, JSP code runs on the server and the resulting HTML-formatted output is then sent to the user's browser.
What you're interested in is JavaScript (which has no relation to Java). Do a google search for "JavaScript dynamic update" and you will find plenty of code examples that essentially say "if the value of the combo box is currently X, set the value of the text field to Y."

Yes i did try the same ..
BEGIN

When i checked the mtest table it shos me the row inserted...
inside foolter .. Now this means everything did get execute properly
But still the vallue of off_city is null or emtpy...
i check the filed and still its empty..
while mtest had those records..seems like some process is cleaining the values...but cant see such process...
a bit confused..here..I tried on Load after footer...
tried chaning the squence number of process ..but still it doesnt help
some how the session variables gets changed...and it is changed to empty

Insert data into table from JSP page using Entity Beans(EJB 3.0)

I want to insert data into a database table from JSP page using Entity Beans(EJB 3.0).
1. I have a table 'FRIENDS', (in Oracle 10g database).
2. It has two columns, 'NAME' and 'CITY'. Both have datatype strings(varchar2).
3. Now from a JSP page, having two textfields, 'NAME' and 'CITY', I want to insert data into table 'FRIENDS'.
4. In between JSP and database is a Entity Bean(EJB 3.0) and a stateless session bean.
5. I am using JDev as editor.
Please provide me code ASAP or link with similar example.

I am also trying that scenario. So u can
Post the jsp form data to a Servlet which will act as a Controller.
In the servlet invoke the business method.

Deleting a row from a table using jsp

Given a table in a jsp, can an user click on a row of that table and retrieve the information so that the program can delete a record from a database table?
most of the tables that I have seen are static, the user cannot interact with them(specially when the user wants to delete several records from a database table).
Can anyone suggests a good book or way of deleting a row from table using jsp.

eg use a column in the table that has a radio button or check box,
on submit, get all the rows that are checked, using the row as an index into your db store, get the key and use the key to issue the sql delete command.

how do I create a table in JSP which has certain number of columns and rows. I have a button called "ADD", which when clicked should add the data I entered. How do I update and save the same?, if there are buttons called "SAVE" and "DELETE".

Urgently Need Code for Copy & Paste from Html Table in JSP to Excel file

I am creating a html table in JSP file .
I need code for 'Cut,Copy,Paste' functions ie. if someone wants to copy data from my table to excel file or from excel file to html table he shud be able to do that.
Can someone give me code for 'Cut,Copy and Paste' i.e. some javascript functions which can do cut, copy and paste which i can put in my jsp file

I have got the same question. I tried to pass sql "Create table" statement, but the servlet engine (tomcat4) threw an error "could not manipulet statement.execute". It works for normal SQL select statement.
Anyone got the same problem ? or got a solution for this ? someone told me that PHP can do it, but just want to get it works with JSP.

If you're using JSP+JSTL, use the JSTL's c:forEach tag. If you're using JSP+JSF, use the Tomahawk's t:tree tag.

I have a question about Table Generator JSP.
How to work with with Table Generator JSP. I have to create one table generator JSP. With the help of this jsp i have to show data on other JSPs.

Not an easy for sure.
Hints:
1. Write a custom tag to generate table. Include this tag in any JSP page of your application.
2. A table is two dimensional view having multiple rows and columns.
3. You can use a list of value objects to render data in your table.
4. You can take list (probably a java.util.List) name column names and data source for each column (perhaps method name of your value object) as input to the tag.
5. In your tag get the list object from session/pageContext. Then iterate through this list and using java reflection obtain column values & render rows.
You can replace step 3, 4 and 5 by:
Take two dimensional array of objects (like javax.swing.JTable) as input to the tag to render table data. Also, take a String array to render table header.
Whatever approach you follow, pass object names as tag attribute and make original object available as attribute in session or page scope.

How to get the data of table from JSP to Servlet?

Hi,
I have a dynamic editable table of 3 columns on a jsp. On click on any cell the usr can edit the data. Now on click of submit button on the jsp I need to submit or get the whole data of all the rows to a servlet which would further process it.
How do I do that?

But as table being editable i would change the data

In servlet I would use request.getParameter(?);
TIAIf you table is editable nad has input field to edit then "malcolmmc's " answer will work perfectly.
you can also use hidden form fields to use those vaues at servlet like this
<input type="hidden" name="UniqueName' value="<%=d.getfirstField()%>'>
Here UniqueName should be the unique for each cell value so that on servlet you can fetch these values using request.getParameter("UniqueName").
