Can we know -- which table resides on which tablespace?

Either you can also use... dba_segments view....
select segment_name, tablespace_name from dba_segments where segment_name='<table name>';

Transportable Tablespace and Table Statistics

We are loading a large datawarehouse of about 2Tb, with tables up to 100Gb full of raster images. The database is 9.2.0.7 on Solaris, and we are using Transportable Tablespaces to move datafiles and tablespaces from data integration server to production server.
During the data integration, we calculate statistics on large tables, and it takes forever. We are wondering if these statistics are moved along with the metadata from data integration server to production server. In other words, should we calculate statistics before the tablespace export or after the tablespaces have been set online on the production server.

Upto my knowledge you dont need to calculate statistics.
Even with export & import command there is a option for statistics.
So when ever you export oracle by default export the statistics of that table.

Import dumpfile with seperate tablespaces for table and index

Hi,
We have a schema for which the its tables are stored in seperate tablespace and indexes are stored in different tablespace. Now we have take full schema export. Now we want to import it on another schema. Now I want to know if the we have difference in the tablespace name we use REMAP_TABLESPACE clause of the impdp command but what about the seperate tablespace for table and indexes. How would Oracle handle this.

Hi,
I hope you created the same tablespace structure on the target side if not so remap_tablespace option you have to use for specifying different tablespaces.Oracle will take care of putting data and index.Any how if a index is moved from one tablespace to other you have to rebuild them,once you rebuild them than only stattistics are gathered otherwise you
might face some performance issue.
Better option is to keep same tablespace structures in source and target environment.

EBS architecture regarding DB, tablespace, users and tables

Hi All,
I do have some questions regarding the database, data model, table space... architecture of an EBS 12.1.1 installation (I use Windows 2008 as platform):
1)
Table space:
Is it correct that the table space used for EBS Apps tables is applsys? Is there more than one table space used for EBS tables?
2)
User:
The Database user used by EBS to connect to the DB is "apps", right? The users mfg, sysadmin... are logical users which do not have a correspondent db account. Is that correct as well?
3)
DB Access:
How can I setup the right environment to access the DB. In order to execute sqlplus, I need to set a proper environment. There is a script called "c:\oracle\VIS\apps\apps_st\appl\VIS_ebs1.cmd". Is that the right script?
I do have more that one script with that name. Example: C:\oracle\VIS\inst\apps\VIS_ebs1\ora\10.1.3\VIS_ebs1.cmd
How do I know, which one is the right script for what purpose?

I found etrm which should give an overview of the EBS data model (and much more), but up to know, I'm not wuite sure how to use it to find the information I'm looking for.
Example: I would like to know where EBS items are stored. I found these tables:
INVFG_ITEMS
INVFV_ITEMS.
In INVFG_ITEMS I was able to find my newly created items, but is it the "main" table for items. How can I find that out? Is etrm the right tool for this?
In etrm, there is a section with FND and another section with DBA. What is the difference and when would I use which section?
I'm sorry for that much questions but right now, my understanding of the EBS and it's architecture is still very basic and these are things which I need to know in order to get a better picture...

For unix/linux we can use 2 users,1 for dbtier and other for appstier.
MFG sysadmin etc... those are EBS user which is pre-define before.

I've read that autoallocate parameter is worse than uniform size:
"Note - there is an autoallocate option for LMTs that can be used instead of uniform size X. This still slices the file up into uniform chunks (in this case always at 64K), and uses one bit per chunk. However, instead of equating one chunk with one extent, Oracle will consider past history and available gaps to decide what size extent to allocate. The extent will be one of a limited set of sizes - 64K, 1MB, 8MB, 64MB. For relatively small, simple systems where there isn't much information available about proper sizing requirements, this can be a minimum fuss mechanism to adopt; but in general I believe you should stick with uniform sizing.......But why is it so convenient to force every extent in the tablespace to be the same size ? (And at this point, you may appreciate my earlier comment about avoiding autoallocate LMTs, which allow for half a dozen sizes of extents). First, ease of monitoring space; secondly, convenience of data packing, and third, reliability of object rebuilds. "
Is it right? If yes, could anyone tell me with size could be correct? Does it depend on the size of the table, for example? Is there any formula to get the uniform size?

Importing data tables into data tablespace and indexes into tablespaces

Edit the import.sql and import2.sql to modify the tables' tablespace and indexes tablespace.
execute import.sql the script in the database. this will create the tables in their respective tablespace.
imp userid=/user/passwd full=y ignore=y indexes=n constraints=y - to import just the data since the tables have already been created.
imp userid=/user/passwd full=y ignore=y rows=n - to import just the indexes since the tables and data have already been imported.

What are differences between the target tablespace and the source tablespac

The IMPDP command create so manay errors. But the EXAMPLE tablespace is transported to the target database successfully. It seems that the transported tablespace is no difference with the source tablespace.
Why create so many errors?
How to avoid these errors?
What are differences between the target tablespace and the source tablespace?
Is this datapump action really successfull?

Short of trying to then reverse-engineer the objects that are in the dump file (I believe Data Pump export files contain some XML representations of DDL in addition to various binary bits, making it potentially possible to try to scan the dump file for the object definitions), I would tend to assume that the export didn't include those type definitions.
Since it looks like you're trying to set up the sample schemas, is there a reason that you wouldn't just run the sample schema setup scripts on the destination database? Why are you using Data Pump in the first place?

I have seven transaction tables in X, which has image tables in Y. X tablespace is my Online tablespace and Y my archive tablespace and I use the archive tablespace to store old data.
I use the same algorithm, only wrapped up in two processes, with only the source and destination alternating. The code performs extremely well for moving data X->Y. And ridiculously slow for Y-> X.
I have just started doing this process of archiving, so the data volume in both the sets of tables are the almost the same.
Any clue on what I could check up for here ?? What should be the problem ??
The trace file shows the similar plans both sides, only there are wait times in process Y->X.

ahhh ... you are talking now about "internal" (vs. "external"?) volume instances. This implies probably you have really to talk to the responsible dba, as Justin already proposed.
One small correction, you always can do an "insert /*+ append */ ...". As Oracle will write into new datablocks then, you only would loose the last allocated free blocks. But in the case of the offline tables, this is not a problem as you only add data anyway therefore you'll not loose a lot. And disk space is not really a concern anymore these days.
For the other way around, you only had to do an "alter table X move tablespace <online-tbs>" afterwards to clean up all the unused blocks.
For the truncating, may be you can think about it again. You have a processing going on there ie there is some grouping/selecting criteria. Probably one of these criterias is a partitioning candidate? And with a partitioned table you would be back in the truncating game.
For the "I'm not let to DDL on the objects from inside the code" seems a rather funny restriction, as this doesn't let you do a truncate and instead you need a lot of (probably unnecessary) undo-tablespace for a delete. But as some dba's don't really know, what the job of a good developer is, you can probably ask your dba for a packaged procedure, where this table/partition gets truncated.

How to restore limited tablespace for table (drop table import)

Application user has drop one master table in database i want to restore it but now i don't hv logical backup
i hv only rman backup,Is it possible to restore only limited tablespace and open the database n import that required table from tablespace.
If its possible by auxiliary instance pls send me the required steps to create auxiliary instance for limited tablespace

What you want to do is certainly possible and its possible to recover only the dropped object form the tablespace with the help of TSPITR . Please see the following link to understand and know about it. Since you haven't mentioned your version, I am giving 11.2's link.

EXPDP tablespace and IMPDP tablespace - who owns the tablespace data?

10.2.0.3 - Windows 2003. Done some googling but not got the answer.
Have been asked by developer to export multiple tablespaces (on one server) into a new database (on another server) but import into just one tablespace.
Unable to use transportable tablespaces because software owner says it doesn't work.
However, developer says can use data-pump in 10g to do this.
Have created the same repository on both databases under the system account and same path name on both servers.
Have used expdp system/password tablespace=(tablespace_name1, tablespace_name2, etc) to create the dmp file and copied it over to the new database server.
Now about to import it into the new database into just one tablespace.
If I export all the multiple tablespaces and then import them into the one tablespace - under the system account - how does Oracle work out who owns the tables in the tablespace?
The tables, themselves, are owned by multiple owners (not all these users are created in the new database as the developer's ultimate idea is that it is only one new schema is created for the multiple tablespace data).
Before doing it I wonder - even though I've specified no schema etc - seems to me that system owns this data and all the data in the tablespace if I do import it successfully using remap tablespace=source: new tablespace.
I saw the system tablespace increase (thought it would but not what is desired, I'm guessing as I can't identify it clearly when looking - so it maybe there unnecessarily forever.
Seems to me I've put stuff into my system tablespace that will be there forever (unless I do something about it) on database1.
But if I impdp to database2 to new tablespace - under the system owner - then it will still be in the system tablespace and still owned by the system schema.
Is this correct thinking?
Should I create the old owners of the schemas in order for the impdp to succeed?
And if correct - is it possible to then allocate those tables in that tablespace to a new schema owner - and is there a way to do it at the time of import or do I have to then do some clever magical guru stuff to change it?

I am definitely not trying to not create a clone.
I would like to understand that, as I have a dmp file created for multiple tablespaces via expdp - under the system user - as I now want to dmp that file under one user - and can do via impdp - who owns the data - and if I have transferred via system user - is it the system user who owns the data in the tablespace now - or can I transfer it to a new named user?

Is it possible to have a logging TABLESPACE with a nologging LOB?

The target tablespace must already exists: if it does not exist you need to create it with a user account having DBA role like SYSTEM or SYS.
This is just an example that you should adapt (path name and size):
SQL> create tablespace tnew datafile 'c:\oraclexe\oradata\xe\tnew01.dbf' size 100M;
Tablespace created.
SQL>Once target tablespace exists you can move LOB columns to new tablespace:
SQL> create table tl(x clob) tablespace users;
Table created.
SQL> alter table tl move lob(x) store as (tablespace tnew);
Table altered.

HTTP 404 error after changed tablespace and password of schema FLOWS_FILES

Hi I have a problem of having HTTP 404 not found error for file upload in my apex app by submiting a page. When it goes to http://xxx.xxx.xxx:8080/apex/wwv_flow.accept after unlocked , changed password and change tablespace for the account FLOWS_FILES.
Is there anyone can help ?

Yes, I have modified the bug tracker application to support file upload by using a file browser object and created a "file_upload" table under the workspace schema to keep the linkage with the table WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$. The application works fine before but after I realize that the FLOWS_FILES schema can be unlocked and the free space in default tablespace SYSAUX has almost been used up more than 99%, so I first unlock the account FLOWS_FILES, then changed the password and move the table WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$ to tablespace FLOW_1 and changed the default tablespace and then rebuilt the index. I have moved the table back to SYSAUX tablespace now and have rebuilt the index also. However, upload a file and then press 'apply change' in the 'create issue log details' page, it gets the error HTTP 404 but if I do not attach any file. It goes without an error. The only thing I changed is on the database side of the FLOWS_FILES schema, so I think the problem resides on it but I don't know why even I moved the table WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$ back to SYSAUX, rebuilt the index but still it doesn't work.
Is that good even explanation ?
btw, I am using IIS and how can I see the webserver error ?

Using exp dump file, how to know schema/tablespace/database/table....

I have export dump file. I don't have any information other then that about the dumpfile.
1. How do I know what version of exp was used(or database version)?
2. what does the exp contain, whether it is table/schema/tablespace/database level export?
3. Is it possible that I can used impdp command to export a file which was exported using "exp" command?

1. Sorry for my ignorance but in first case how do I know if i have to use "imp or impdp".
As discussed in the above mentioned thread strings might reveal something but not sure. Otherwise you can always confirm by trying to run it.
And assuming that if I imported the dump(using trial and error rule), how do I know what level of export was the dump file created... ie
how do I know the present object(object imported in target) was belonging to which tablespace and schema in source database(question 2 of "Sidhu")?
When you will import it back in a new database, everything will be same as the original database. All objects will belong to their respective tablespaces,schemas blah blah...(where they were in the original database).

ASSM and table with LOB column

I have a tablespace created with ASSM option. I've heard about that tables with LOB columns can't take the advantage of ASSM.
I made a test : create a table T with BLOB column in a ASSM tablespace. I succeeded!
Now I have some questions:
1. Since the segments of table T can't use ASSM to manage its blocks, what's the actrual approach? The traditional freelists??
2. Will there be some bad impacts on the usage of the tablespace if table T becomes larger and larger and is used frequently?

Can you explain what you mean by #1 because I believe it is incorrect and it does not make sense in my personal opinion. You can create a table in an ASSM tablespace that has a LOB column from 9iR2 on I believe (could be wrong). LOBs don't follow the traditional PCTFREE/PCTUSED scenario. They allocate data in what are called "chunks" that you can define at the time you create the table. In fact I think the new SECUREFILE LOBs actually require ASSM tablespaces.

ORA-20015: Invalid tablespace for table

I have a table partioned by range and have done interval partitioning on a date column.
when i apply the lifecycle definition on this table i get the following error ORA-20015: Invalid tablespace for table .
Also in the list of candidate tables,it shows Table Partioning Not Available.
Any help on this
