hi everybody i have a rac with 2 nodes in one node the tablespace temp is empty and in the other node is full, why this occurs?

I am getting the following error while executing an insert query.
ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by 128 in tablespace TEMP.
I have tried increasing the TEMP tbsp size it got resolved temporarily but occurred again after few days.
When the problem occured, following query shows all insert queries in TEMP tablespace and one of them consumes about 5GB and others are about 24MB.

T.blocks * TBS.block_size / 1024 / 1024 mb_used, T.tablespace,

The insert query is :
INSERT INTO SEOSDATA (ENTRYID,DOMAINNAME,USERNAME,EVENTTYPE,LOGNAME,TIMSTAMP,SOURCE,COMPUTERNAME,EVENTID,EVENTCATEGORY,SEARCHSTRINGS,MSGTEXT) VALUES (ENTRYID_SEQ.NEXTVAL,:1,:2,:3,:4,:5,:6,:7,:8,:9,:10,:11)
It is not expected that an insert query consumes such a huge memory.
Can someone help me in figuring out what the problem is.
What might have gone wrong? Seems like sorting is used, why an insert query uses sorting?

Insert statement should not use TEMP tablespace. Please check with following query which user and session id is using TEMP tablespace.
SELECT b.tablespace, b.segfile#, b.segblk#, b.blocks, a.sid, a.serial#,
a.username, a.osuser, a.status

WHERE a.saddr = b.session_addr

I encountered this error: "Cannot use system rollback segment for non-system tablespace 'TEMP"

Dear All,
I recently ported my code from Vs 2003 running on Windows 2003 Server to VS 2010 running on Windows 2008 Server 64bit.
The DB query that we trigger from the code has not been changed but forming the query is changed.Like in very high level initally I was getting data at execution level so I use sprintf to form the query along with required params and then use SQLExecute. The application runs fine for few hrs after that I get the below error.

I am using Oracle 11g client on Windows 2008 Server R2. Surprisingly when we get this temp space issue in the DB, that time when I run the same query through application from a 32bit it is able to execute successfully same doesn't happen with 64bit machine.
Any suggestion to resolve the above error ?Am I doing a memory leak of something which is causing the above issue.

-RI was trying to monitor as which inserting is causing this issue.It looks to be the insertion of blob data is causing the issue.When I disable all the insertions of Blob data the temp space issue doesn't come.
I am seeing some trailing characters in the coloumn when we are inserting Blob. I am doing SQLBindParameter with SQL_C_BINARY and SQL_LONGVARBINARY as InputOutputType and ValueType respectively.Do you see any problem in this.

please helpIf you are not a DBA, then get in touch with your Database administrator and show him this problem. Your database is running out of TEMP tablespace because of the sorting needed by this query.

Unable to extend temp segment by 64 in tablespace TEMP

anyone can help on this issue. I have a procedure in this procedure one statement
INSERT INTO prod.temp select * from .........
this statement giving the unable to extend temp segment by 64 in tablespace TEMP
error.
this is a big query.
when we run that procedure in development and testing environmenmt it's running fine but in staging database it's given the trouble.
when DBA extent the temp tablespace upto 10gb.If »prod.temp« is empty and truncated you can try append hint:
INSERT /*+ append */ INTO prod.temp select * from .........In addition try to remove any sortings from your »select *« statement.

Jaganwhat is the size of your temp tablespace?
Have another try, if the problem persists, increase the temp datafile size.
alter database tempfile <temp file name> resize <integer> M;
You can also add a new datafile.
ALTER TABLESPACE name ADD TEMPFILE 'filename.dbf' SIZE 10M;
You can always investigate and try to avoid too much sort by checking the SQL.

We have a lot of version 8.5 crystal report templates, now, as required, we want to use JRC (pure java) to export those templates to PDF / RTF etc.
We have done a lot, for the most of templates, works fine, but there are some reports, once the data is large, an error coming :ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by 1280 in tablespace TEMP
for this problem:
1. I have read the migration guide first :http://support.businessobjects.com/communityCS/TechnicalPapers/cr_xi_designer_migration.pdf
2. I have tested the templates with the same parameters in designer, they are just fine ( and obviously, the old templates can work with COM components in wintel platform , we used VB )
3. Because 2 works fine, I tried to extend our oracle temporary tablespace, but everytime I extend, I can see it will always be fully occupied by the JRC export function.
4. The problem is occured in the repSrc.export(expOpt, reqCont) function
I am now trying to find out the reasons:
1. checking the parameters real value in the report
2. enable log4j for JRC to see the real SQL statement
This is really annoying problem, I would appreciate if anyone could give me help.I think this is one might have some relationship with my problem

I found in version 8.5, the created SQL Statement is simple, all conditions come under Where clause, but the new crystal report XI convert this to "join" types.
But JRC engine will lost some very important join condition to make the result really large, so, my oracle error comes out.
I am thinking about to write command object as a workaround for this issue, woundn't JRC engine support the simple SQL Statement?
I found the release note of CR4E says some features are "Supported" instead of "Full Support", where can I find the detail list of these un-supported feature list? -

i´m using OBIEE 10.1.3.4 . When i´doing a select over a materialized view, the tablespace temp grows too much ( about 15GB).
The columns of the materialized view are functions.
The base tables of the Materialized View are big, thousands of MB.
Is it possible to configure the tablespace temp with OBIEE? and via SQL-PLUS?

If you are using 8i or 9i, you should use tempfile in place of datafile. -
Partial Restoration of Tablespace from RAC instance to non-RAC instance

MJI am not sure what you mean by "OS replication".
Whether you use RAC or a Failover Cluster, the database has to be on Shared Storage (which requires no "replication").
RAC licence costs are higher than that for a Failover Cluster because both instances have to licenced and the RAC option has to be purchased.
Of course, if the two nodes together are limited to 4 CPUs, you could consider Standard Edition to reduce the licencing costs.
DBA skills requirements are also higher for RAC.
With respect to your question "...will be sufficient for the avaialability purposes" it really depends on what your requirements are. People use RAC for Avaialability when it really is better positioned for Scalability. If you want only availability and can afford a few minutes downtime, and each node in the cluster can individually handle the user/batch loads, a Failover Cluster would suffice.
I suggest that you raise this question in the "Database - General" forum : General Database Discussions
or the "Real Application Clusters" forum : Real Application Clusters
"Replication" is the wrong forum for such a question.
When you do re-raise your question, please clarify your understinding of "OS replication".

If there is severe temp segment space contention across instances, a
slowdown can occur. The following are potential workarounds:
- Increase size of the temp tablespace
- Do not use the DEFAULT temp tablespace feature in RAC.
- Increase sort_area_size and/or pga_aggregate_target "
I have increased the size of the temp TS, but the error is poping up still in alert.log.
I don't know how to assign DEFAULT temp tablespace feature in RAC????

After I "upgraded" to iPhone iOS 6.1.2 and iTunes 11.0.1 (on my MacBook Air) books no longer sync onto my phone. Yes I have checked the "Sync Audiobooks" box. Yes I have checked the individual books. Yes I have checked the various parts of the book

I created 3 pages for my IWeb. Each page is created fine in the Navigation menu. Works OK with IWeb Doesn't when published (Cursor doesn't even change). I made 3 Hyper text links to these pages. Works fine with IWeb AND in published IWeb Any Idea ? T
