Tablespaces and standby DB
Hi all,
i have standby DB on standard edition(manual management), when i add or modify tablespaces in the primary DB how impact the standby DB because the archivlog application give erro.
Regards.
Hi
If u r adding new TS or Dfile on Primary database(PD) then just copy the new file on your Standby database(SD) (sp. location),then make standby control file on PD and then copied to SD ,now start recovery on SD,
In case u r modifying Datafile then log will manage it automatecally.
Hope it helps.

Restore only 1 tablespace to standby server.
Hello,
I would like to restore only 1 tablespace to a standby server.
This is what I was planned to do :
startup nomount of the standby server
connect with rman from the primary to the standby with :
rman target / auxiliary sys/xxxx@standby_SID
set until scn 4847169298;
restore standby controlfile;
restore tablespace xxx
But my question, do I need to specify something to skip the other tablespace ?
How will my controlfile know that this standby db only has this single tablespace and that the other tbs are not on this server ?
any help welcome,
KristofYou will need, at a minimum,
SYSTEM
SYSAUX (if 10g)
the Undo tablespace (whatever name you have given it).
.. and the tablespace xxx that you want
If you use the controlfile, you'd have to take all the other tablespaces offline
Check the Backup and Recovery Advanced User's Guide on RMAN TSPITR

What is the diffrence between ' Contolfile ' and ' Standby Controlfile' ???
Hi Guru's,
Can someone please help me out with the diffrences between a 'Control File' and 'Standby Controlfile'.
Thanks in advance
Regards,
GirishKind of reply you can always expect from Sybrand...anyways...the controlfile of any production database would always be having a bit in itself which identifies a database as a primary or a standby database, so whenever you try to query select database_role from v$database; for any production database it would always give output as PRIMARY and for a standby it would always give output as PHYSICAL STANDBY..Hope it clears your doubts

No data in Usage and Standby?
Hi,
I have recently exchanged my white 16GB iphone at the local retail store, but have just noticed that since I exchanged it there does not seem to be any Usage figures in the general settings.
By that I mean the "usage" and "standby" are blank, above the message "usage times will be shown after iphone is fully charged".
To try and correct it, I reset the phone yesterday and it was on charge from 10pm last night to 7am this morning so I would have thought would be fully charged. (the battery meter appears to be fully charged)
Is anyone else experiencing this problem or has any advice on how to correct it?
Thanks for your help. When adding/creating an email account, the following presets are available.
Exchange
MobileMe
Gmail
Yahoo Mail
AOL
If you selected the Yahoo Mail account preset when adding/creating the account, the account was created as an IMAP account with Push access available for received messages along with an option to enable or disable Push access for the account.
The data required to connect with the incoming mail server for an email account to check the incoming mail server for new messages is minute. More battery will be used the more often an account is checked for new messages, but this alone is not a significant battery drain and especially with a single email account. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are not synchronized with the server when the account is checked for new messages. For example, the account's server stored Sent mailbox is not synchronized with the server until the account's Sent mailbox is selected.
Push is not a constant fetch process. With an account that supports Push access for received messages, a new message received at the incoming mail server is "pushed" to the iPhone without the account having to be checked for new messages. In theory, Push access should use less battery compared to automatically checking the account for new messages, which isn't always the case and this also depends on the time interval set for automatically checking for new messages. You can have the account automatically checked for new messages every hour.
Depending on how much data is accessed compared to the number and length of phone calls when roaming internationally, data access can be much more expensive. -
What are differences between the target tablespace and the source tablespac
The IMPDP command create so manay errors. But the EXAMPLE tablespace is transported to the target database successfully. It seems that the transported tablespace is no difference with the source tablespace.
Why create so many errors?
How to avoid these errors?
What are differences between the target tablespace and the source tablespace?
Is this datapump action really successfull?

Since it looks like you're trying to set up the sample schemas, is there a reason that you wouldn't just run the sample schema setup scripts on the destination database? Why are you using Data Pump in the first place?

I have a 32GB iPad mini that was purchased new in June of this year. A little while ago, I started the iOS 8.02 download while it was plugged into a wall socket using an official apple wall to USB plug and an official apple thunderbolt cable. I then left for 25 minutes to get some food.
On coming back, I discovered the iPad with a black screen showing the apple logo. I thought this was just an ordinary part of the update, it was restarting or something after installation, so I thought nothing of it. Then, after another minute or two, the screen flashed blue and then went completely black.
Puzzled, I waited for another second and the apple logo reappeared as if the iPad was restarting again. However, after a few minutes, this happened again. This has been going on for the last half an hour, and I was wondering has anybody experienced this before.
As I stated in the title, it won't show up in iTunes, and the hardware reset or whatever it's called doesn't work. Also, bear in mind I had issues syncing it with iTunes the night before and it also seemed to crash a few times last night, restarting the iPad and bringing it to the blank screen with the apple logo for a few seconds before going to the lock screen. That didn't happen at all this morning though.
The iPad is not jailbroken, however, it does have licenses for gba4iOS, which is still installed on it, and a VPN license installed on it by the Hola app, which I deleted but never bothered deleting the license for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Hi Colin how are you?
I updated my IPAD yesterday and have the exact same problem.
Itunes does not recognize my ipad. Home and standby also doesnt work.
Also have the blue thing every few minutes and the apple logo but it never goes beyond it.
Have you solved the issue?

Sync config between active and standby CSM
Is there a way to sync config between active and standby CSMs? Just as one that in CSS.
How about two SSL Service module in two different 6500 chassis?
Thanks.HI,
there is right now no command to commit redundancy between two CSM-Modules. Maybe in the future there will be one. Okay in regards of sync the only way is to check for redundancy is the show mod csm x ft command. But be aware that some slight differences like a real not being in service are sometimes not recognized.
In regards of the SSLModule there is no way as far as I know to sync them. This won't be present in the future in my opinion as there are certificates which require a password or something like that and one won't be able to do redundncy without those passwords. So In my opinion no way to sync two SSL-Module because of security issues.
Kind regards,

Satellite P - How to disable hibernation and standby?
I have set power configuration to say Never for both Hibernation and Standby - both occur.
What am I doing wrong?
I would be happy with Standby but do NOT want Hibernation!Hi p g allison,
Did you set these settings for current power profile?
For example if you disable standby and hibernation for High Performance power profile but you are using or switch to Balanced the settings dont work.
So check if they are disabled in all power profiles!!! -
Require 9i Primary and Standby redo logs files same size?
Hi,
We have 9.2.0.6 Oracle RAC (2 node) and configured data guard (physical standby).
I want to increase redo log files size, but i can't this do same time primary and standby side.
Is there a rule, primary and standby database instances have same size redo log files?
If I increase only primary redo log files, is there any side effect? However I try this issue on test system. I increased all primary redo log files(if status='INACTIVE' drop redo log group and add redo log group, switch logfile,...)
, but i couldn't changed standby side. So the system is work well. Is this correct solution or not? How can i increase both sides redo log files?
Thank you for helps..Thank you for your helps.. I found this issue answer:
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/manage_ps.htm#i1010448
Consequently, when you add or drop an online redo log file at the primary site, it is important that you synchronize the changes in the standby database by following these steps:
If Redo Apply is running, you must cancel Redo Apply before you can change the log files.
If the STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT initialization parameter is set to AUTO, change the value to MANUAL.
Add or drop an online redo log file:
To add an online redo log file, use a SQL statement such as this:
SQL> ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE '/disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/prmy3.log' SIZE 100M;
To drop an online redo log file, use a SQL statement such as this:
SQL> ALTER DATABASE DROP LOGFILE '/disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/prmy3.log';
Repeat the statement you used in Step 3 on each standby database.
Restore the STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT initialization parameter and the Redo Apply options to their original states.

The file structure online redo log, archived redo log and standby redo log
I have read some Oracle documentation for file structure and settings in Data Guard environment. But I still have some doubts. What is the best file structure or settings in Oracle 10.2.0.4 on UNIX for a data guard environment with 4 primary databases and 4 physical standby databases. Based on Oracle documents, there are 3 redo logs. They are: online redo logs, archived redo logs and standby redo logs. The basic settings are:
1. Online redo logs --- This redo log must be on Primary database and logical standby database. But it is not necessary to be on physical standby database because physical standby is not open. It doesn't generate redo log. However, if don't set up online redo log on physical standby, when primary failover and switch standby as primary. How can standby perform without online redo logs? In my standby databases, online redo logs have been set up.
2. Archived redo logs --- It is obviously that primary database, logical and physical standby database all need to have this log file being set up. Primary use it to archive log files and ship to standby. Standby use it to receive data from archived log and apply to database.
3. Standby redo logs --- In the document, it says A standby redo log is similar to an online redo log, except that a standby redo log is used to store redo data received from another database. A standby redo log is required if you want to implement: The maximum protection and maximum availability levels of data protection and Real-time apply as well as Cascaded destinations. So it seems that this standby redo log only should be set up on standby database, not on primary database. Am my understanding correct? Because I review current redo log settings on my environment, I have found that Standby redo log directory and files have been set up on both primary and standby databases. I would like to get more information and education from experts. What is the best setting or structure on primary and standby database?FZheng:
Thanks for your input. It is clear that we need 3 type of redo logs on both databases. You answer my question.
But I have another one. In oracle ducument, it says If you have configured a standby redo log on one or more standby databases in the configuration, ensure the size of the current standby redo log file on each standby database exactly matches the size of the current online redo log file on the primary database. It says: At log switch time, if there are no available standby redo log files that match the size of the new current online redo log file on the primary database. The primary database will shut down
My current one data gurard envirnment setting is: On primary DB, online redo log group size is 512M and standby redo log group size is 500M. On the standby DB, online redo log group size is 500M and standby redo log group size is 750M.
This was setup by someone I don't know. Is this setting OK? or I should change Standby Redo Log on standby DB to 512M to exactly meatch with redo log size on primary?

Resizing online and standby redo log in dataguard setup.
In 10gr2 dataguard i would like to increase redo logsize from 50M to 100M.
on primary
standby_file_management=manual
added online redo groups with 100M
log switched
drop old one and readded with 100m
deleted log added in step2.
same for standby redo logs.
On standby
was able to resize standby redo logs.
but cannot resize online redologs status is clearing or clearing_current.
please comment. thanks.I assume you just had to wait until the Primary switched out of that online log so it became inactive at the standby as well? We track where the Primary is by marking the online redo log files at the standby as clearing_current so you can tell where the primary was at any given moment.
Make sure you create new standby redo log files at the Primary and Standby to match the new online redo log file size.

Dataguard lost both Primary redo log and standby redo log files
Hi,
I am new to data guard, i came acorss a scenario where we loose both primary redo log file and standby redo log files.
Can someone please help me understand how to recover from this situation.
Thanks!>loose both primary redo log file and standby redo log files
We have to be very clear.
There are (set A) online redo log files and (set B) standby redo log files at (location 1) Primary and (location 2) Standby.
The standby redo log files, depending on the configuration, aren't strictly mandatory. The standby can be applying redo without online redo log files present as well, depending on how it was setup.
So, the question is : Did you lose online redo log files at the primary ? Didn't the primary shutdown itself then ? If so, you have to do an incomplete recovery at the primary OR switch over to the standby (which may or may not have received the last transaction, depending on how it was configured and operating) OR restore from the standby (again, with possible loss of transactions) to the primary.

Sequence of stopping starting Primary and standby DB
Hi,
what are the sequence of stopping starting Primary and standby DB ?
To stop, which one ,primary or Standby, should be stopped first ?
To Start which one first ?
Thank you.Hi,
what about the 10gR2 logical standbys? When I read the Note:278643.1 to apply the patch for logical database, it seemed that the sequence to stop and start the primary/logical standby was to stop the logical standby first before the stop of the primary one. Please advise me, for a simple situation just to stop and start the primary/logical standby to support a Unix server bounce, what is the sequence we should follow ? Do we have to run some commands to stop/start the SQL apply?
Any idea or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much,

2. transportable tablespace mode. expdp user/password transport_tablespaces=<your tablespace list here> ...
NOTE: for #2, you need to have your tablespaces in read only mode, then you need to copy the data files, and the
tablespaces need to be self contained.
Hope this helps.
