Tabs Styles in different themes

I'm using a blue theme #20 in APEX 3.1. This theme is fine for most of the templates except for parent and standard tabs. I like tab style in Theme #16 (Dark blue). is there way I can use those tab styles for parent/standard tabs from a different theme in my current theme. Especailly, my application needs standard tabs also similar to parent tabs as in Vikas's example below.
Vikas example page with tabs from Theme #16

My page exampe with tabs from Theme #20 ( needs to be modified as example above)

thanks for your help,

Hello,
You have to copy the HTML and the appropriate CSS from the page templates on theme 16 to theme 20. The images should still be linked correctly except for backgrounds images in the CSS section which you will have to relink.
You will also want to use Firefox with the Firebug addon to help trackdown the exact CSS. It will basically be an exercise in cutting and pasting it's just a matter of tracking down what you need.

    Hi Deep,
This can be achieved by editing the templates in your chosen theme. Unfortunately this requires a knowledge of html and css if you whish to make huge changes. Fortunately, good results can still be achieved with a little knowledge and some trial and error. Start with the theme that most closely resembles your requirements from a structural point of view, such as tab levels and placement, and then tweak for colours and fonts and positions etc.
There will be plenty of threads on this forum regarding this and several books and tutorials cover modifying thems and templates. The web is also full of resources and tutorials for html and css.
The other alternative is to hire someone with the right knowledge to create your theme and I know there are also several commercial sources of third party themes.

  • Active tab styles not loading

Currently using the nightly 39.0a2 (2015-04-07) and my active tab styles are gone. I have no idea which tab is the currently opened one. I have tried with two different themes and same issue on both. Now tab mix plus offers active tab style but they do not follow the rounded corner appeal that was in FF previously so I have those disabled. Any way to get the active tab styles back?

    Hello,
Two things i can think of.
    1) Try using the default theme in FireFox
here are the steps to change the theme
    Hello,
A theme is an add-on that changes the visual appearance of Firefox. When several themes are installed, you can switch to another theme as follows:
#Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and choose Add-ons.
#Switch to the ''Appearance'' tab. You should find your previously used personas in the list.
#Find the Default one and make sure its active if not set it
    2) Have you tried updating the nightly? The Nightly page shows 40.0a1 as the most recent release. Maybe try updating,

  • How can I merge layers with multiple layer styles added to them?

So I have this issue where I have to merge lots of layers in order to finish the job. Thing is that two of them have layer styles added to them. Each one has two different layers styles added to it. If I try to merge the layers, the effect won't stay the same and only one layer style will apply (and not even this one works correctly). Is there any cure for this? Thank you!

Here is how it looks before I merge the layers.
And here is how it looks after I merge the layers.
Why won't it stay the same?

  • How to apply different CSS styles to different table cells?

I have an h:dataTable table and I would like to apply different CSS styles to different table cells depending on their content. If I were doing JSP I would probably have a <c:if> test on the cells, and give them a style name depending on contents, and then define the styles in a separate style sheet. Is there a way in JSF to do the equivalent? Thanks.

How to achieve a cell-specific style is already answered in my 1st reply of this topic. That tells how to apply a style to the text (or other content) inside a cell but not how to apply a style to the <td> as a whole. It would work for something like text font or text color but not cell border.
I'm thinking I can mark the content somehow and then have javascript traverse the DOM, find marked content, and traverse outward to the enclosing <td>. Is there a better way?BalusC already spoke about rowClasses and columnClass attributes, I assume those are insufficient.
The Tomahawk dataTable component has the rowStyleClass and rowStyle attributes for assigning CSS to the HTML tr tag. One is allowed to reference the row data variable when assigning values to these. However, see https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TOMAHAWK-523 for workarounds to bugs in some implementations.
The Tomahawk column component has the styleClass and style attributes for assigning CSS to the HTML td tag. These also may reference the row data variable.

  • Dozens of open tabs lost! Synced them, reinstalled Windows and Firefox, set up Sync, looked up "tabs on other devices" in history - Only a third or so listed.

Dozens of open tabs lost! Synced them, reinstalled Windows and Firefox, set up Sync, looked up "tabs on other devices" in history -> Only a third or so listed.
Usually, when I reinstall Windows, I manually backup my Firefox bookmarks and open tabs, but because Sync has worked perfectly for me in the past, I didn't do it this time. I backed up all my other files and settings and whatnot from the rest of my system, then in Firefox I hit the Sync button (put in on the GUI so I see if it's syncing or done) for the last time, waited until the green rotating dot was gone, closed Firefox, shut down the system, formatted the drive and reinstalled Windows and Firefox. After setting up Sync I waited a while to make sure everything is on my system.
Then I wanted to have all the tabs and windows open as I had on the old system, so I went to the history and "tabs on other devices". I could already see from the small size of the list, that tabs were missing. I went through all of them, opened them and sorted them into windows.
-> Maybe about two thirds of the tabs I had open on my old system are gone!
Not just new tabs that might not have been synced (although the button showed sync was complete), but also old tabs (from weeks ago) that must have been synced before. Actually maybe especially or even only the old ones are lost. And the lost tabs are not just from one of the open windows, but from several.
What can I do to recover my lost tabs?
They contain important websites that I didn't bookmark yet, articles that I wanted to read, windows with dozens of tabs on a topic that I did some research for and stuff like that.
What does the green circle mean? Does it indicate that the sync is complete (to the Firefox servers) or just that the changes have been saved locally and set up for some next scheduled sync with the Firefox servers?
    Further info:
I always run the newest stable release of Firefox (v19 on both systems). Old system was Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation, new system is Windows 8 Pro. My used Sync quota is about 10 MB. I had 4 Firefox windows open with different amount of tabs in each of them, from 10 to maybe 80 with an overall amount of 150-200. Most of them weren't loaded. Firefox start is set to "load last session" and tabs are set to "load when selected". Memory usage 500 MB - 1 GB.

I have most of the items bookmarked. Having 200 - 300 tabs open saves time, since I don't have to go to the bookmarks, if the tabs are already open. One problem has been crashes, but as long as I can restore a previous session, I can still get to the data. I had quite a few tabs open when I was planning to purchase a new computer. I also follow the stock market, and the weather. I was also looking at various VIrtual Private Networking (VPN) sites. At one time, I probably had 20 - 50 tabs open, just for those. I did bookmark a few, but unfortunately lost the VPN tabs, when Firefox crashed. Even if I don`t go to a particular group of tabs very often, leaving it open is faster, especially since I will know where they are. I often put the computer in standby mode, rather than shutting it off, especially if I will remain in the same location.

  • CF9 and Ext JS - has anyone applied a different theme?

Has anyone had any luck applying Ext JS themes to override the built-in theme that ships with CF 9? If so, which theme did you apply, where did you get it, and what was your method?
My guess is that i can put any Ext JS 3.0 theme into my web site and then include the ext-all.css file and it should work. CF 8 allowed us to switch between themes (at least for some of the Ext JS functionality), which was cool because you could (in theory) add new themes on the server level and allow each of your applications to quickly choose. But this seems to be scrapped.
    Ideas?

I was able to apply a different theme as follows:
First, I downloaded one of these: (very simple modifications of the default CF theme)
    http://extjs.fudini.net/
Then I used the csssrc attribute in cfajaximport to specify where I want CF to look for the styles. You will have to rearrange the folders of your downloaded extjs theme to be exactly like the one that ships with CF. Look at the documentation for cfajaximport.
If you have control over your server, you could try putting new themes in the ColdFusion folder so they can be accessible by all your applications.
If anyone knows how to find some really cool extjs themes, please share!

  • Access model for smart tabs: Can the new tab have a different ACL?

Access model for smart tabs: Can the new tab have a different access control list then the sources it draws from?
Scenario: Some lecture content is in a private course viewable to course members only and some is put on a public page viewable to all. Can the content on the smart tab viewable to the public have different permissions?
Scenario: Public site starts with small number of courses, say 16, located in 4 sections on the main welcome tab. Administrators have edit only rights to the Welcome page and grant editing rights to each of the course pages to others. A few months later the site has more content and decides to change the four sections on the Welcome page to four section pages with courses attached to it. The new pages would have new editors for them. Can the course pages originally located on the main welcome page be restricted to no viewers and smart tabs put in new courses connected to the new section tabs? The thought here is to avoid rebuilding the site as the architecture changes.

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
    * Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
    * Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

  • Two different themes in one application

    Hello,
I am quite new to Apex and currently I have a problem which g**gle can't answer :-)
I want to set two different themes on some pages in the same application. When trying to change the theme on one page this can only be done for all pages in this application. Is there a possibility to reach my goal?
    Thanks for your support
    cheers, sebastian

    Hi Sebastian,
It isn't possible to apply multiple APEX themes to one application, but the same effect can be achieved by applying one set of templates with multiple styles.
What you need is a theme that separates the style (CSS and images) from the structure (templates) so that multiple colour schemes can be applied to the same template set. Unfortunately the themes supplied with APEX weren't designed this way.
The general idea, that Matt mentioned, is to have multiple CSS style sheets and sets of images that can be applied to the same template set. This way, you can create two pages in the same application, with the same template set, but apply a different style/colour scheme/look and feel to each page by setting different paths to the CSS files and images at page level.
All of my themes work this way for exactly this reason. This article on dynamic theme switching might help explain the concept. Although the switching mechanism is presented to the user as a select list, this doesn't have to be the case. The "switch" could be made internally based on page number or some other condition.

  • Page tab style ignore my settings

Why does the Page Style, tab style settings get completely ignored? I set my tabs to rounded, square, whatever and my page tabs and portlets all remain square. I've followed the page color hint and it makes no difference.
I've tried copying the style but to no effect.
Is there a way I can manually hack this to work?
BTW I am on Portal 3.0.9.8.3 on Win2k and DB 8.1.7.3

I am not sure how this will help you, but i will share my experience
    I created a new 3.0.9.8.1 portal instance(development) and i migrated all users,groups,content areas,pages
from production instance also on 3.0.9.8.1
The pages were all set to the "Style for Public Home Page" and they did not respond to any change in the page style.
We are not using Style for Public Home Page, hence i deleted the style. The pages now started using
the actual styles associated with them.
I also noticed that that our production instance has multiple copies of the same styles (which is as a result of bug in page import utility).
After a few days i tried firing up the portal in Netscape 4.7, i got this error
    http://servername:7777/pls/portal30/PORTAL30.wwpob_app_style.render_css?p_style_id=5
    Not Found
The requested URL /pls/portal30/PORTAL30.wwpob_app_style.render_css was not
    found on this server.
The portal opens fine in Netscape 6.2 and all versions of IE.

  • Is there a way to create multiple New Tabs pages and name them?

This feature is great but I would like to be able to create multiple new tabs pages and label them. This would be more useful than tabs groups that all load at once.

No that is (currently) not possible.
It will be possible in future Firefox version to specify the number of rows and columns.

  • Copying page from one app to another: Different themes

All the threads on this forum for steps to copy a page from one app to another refer to Raj's instructions at Synonyms
What if the 2 apps involved have different themes? When I do the final step (f) in his procedure, that page will have Theme X and the rest of the pages will have Theme Y. How is this handled?
Will the new page just use the templates it needs from whatever theme the app it is imported into happens to be using? Or would it bring along the templates it uses from the old application?
    Thanks

Raj's technique predates themes and has no connection with themes. A page has one numeric attribute that references a page template or is null.
Raj's technique never handled the case where the referenced page template didn't exist in the target application.
It's your job (see the caveat in that threat) to ensure that you don't reference non-existent shared components from the page being copied.
What if you do anyway? That isn't part of the solution that was presented but the answer is you have to repair the damage.
What you are saying, in effect, is that that technique for copying pages across apps really works best only if the 2 apps involved have the same theme, right? There are at least four cases: 1) the page template attribute is null so it will use the app's default page template which I believe is adjusted when you switch themes; 2) the page template attribute is not null and locates an existing page template which is a template in the current theme. In this case everything should work correctly; 3) the page template attribute is not null and locates an existing page template which is not a template in the current theme. In this case the referenced page template will be used at runtime, but the theme reports and/or switch theme functionality may not work as expected with respect to that page; 4) the page template attribute does not locate an existing template. I don't know what the result is in this case.
I also don't know if the template a page uses is considered to be part of a given theme based on the template's name or numeric ID.

My table of contents does not use the entry style I select for words in the paragraph that have character styles applied to them in the chapter, so some of the letters, specifically parameters, are showing up green, which is fine in the chapter but not in the TOC. I can manually fix this in the TOC by changing the character style to none after the toc  has been generated, but I don't want to do this.

  • How to change the theme in the default profile so new users get a different theme

How can I change the theme (background picture, etc) for the default profile, so that when new users log in and get a new profile created, they get a different theme than the one they currently receive?

    Hi,
If you want to get a different theme for new users, based on my understanding, it’s not easy, we can load the specific theme for all user because we can control OS to load this specific theme file.
The default location of theme file is:
    C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
To configure OS load different theme for different user, I think this cannot be controlled by a registry key. It’s complicated to make OS choose different theme pack for different user, even more, the theme pack files are limited.
Here is some different but similar discussion about changing theme programmatically:
