Tabs tab name or tab id

Hi
I'm writing application with access control to several tabs there will be condition checking if user :APP_USER have access to selected tab. The point is how to get tab_name or tab_id. and use it in pl\sql function like I can use :APP_USER
Or
how can I do this without using tab_id
Regards
Jaroslaw

CREATE OR REPLACE
FUNCTION can_user_access_tab(p_user IN VARCHAR2
,p_tab IN VARCHAR2
RETURN VARCHAR2
IS
ln_count number;
BEGIN
SELECT count(1) INTO ln_count
FROM acces_tab_users
WHERE username=p_user
AND tab_name=p_tab;
if (ln_count=0) THEN
return 'N';
else
return 'Y';
END;to each tab add a SQL expression condition
can_user_access_tab(:APP_USER,'<tab name>') = 'Y'
Note : <tab name> would be different for each tab , so you have to modify the conidtion for each tab with a new string that matches your table's(acces_tab_users) tab_name column.
If you want to use an authorization scheme which uses tabname and user , there is a substitution string named CURRENT_PARENT_TAB_TEXT that might work for you. But I couldn't find anything for the sub tab.
In the authorization scheme that would be
return can_user_access_tab(:APP_USER,:CURRENT_PARENT_TAB_TEXT) --function returns BOOLEAN in this caseI haven't used it, so can't provide any more info on this at the moment.
Update
Use Jari's method and pass :APP_USER and :APP_PAGE_ID to the authorization scheme. You would have to set up the tab access table based on the page number for this.

• Can we change NAME OF TAB and ITEM NAME dynamically at runtime in forms 6i

Hi all,
I have a requirement like
1) based on organization choosen the TAB NAME AND TAB LABLE name in tab canvas should be changed dynamically. can this happen?
example: In forms i gave the NAME and LABLE OF TAB (PROPERTY PALLET) as *'TAB_INITIAL'* and *'TAB_INITIAL'* respectively .
when org_1 is choosen , lable should be changed to 'TAB_ORG_1' .
when org_2 is choosen , lable should be changed to 'TAB_ORG_2'. can the NAME also be changed dynamically??
2)Similarly can we change the ITEM NAMES present on this tab based on organization selection?
Thanks,
Durga Srinivas

Hello.
You can perform this by using:
set_tab_page_property('Tab_page_name', label,'your_desire_label');
and for item set_item_property.
More details on these built-ins and also some example can be found in Forms Builder Help.

• How do I get the Tab Group names to appear above the Tabs?

At one point the names of all my Tab Groups appeared above the Tabs. That is, on every page there's a horizontal list of open Tabs. Above that there used to be a similar looking horizontal list of all Tab Groups. Now that horizontal list of Tab Groups is gone.
This was useful for rearranging and re-categorizing Tabs into different Groups because I could see the whole page for any given Tab, and could move the Tab to a different Tab Group simply by clicking on the Tab and dragging to to any Group in the Tab Groups section above the Tabs section. This was usually easier than rearranging Tabs on the Tab Groups page (accessed by clicking the "Group your tabs" icon at the upper right of the display).
I don't know how this feature got there or why it went away, but I liked it.
How can I get this back?

Tab groups were the primary reason I used Firefox (since the beginning).
Now that they are gone, so am I !!!!!
-- However ... good news! ... they are not gone, just a tiny bit more difficult to manage.
You right click on the tab and select Move To Group. You then create new tab groups within the Tab Group interface. Once you've done that, the familiar Tab Group boxes icon appears in the upper right hand corner of each Group in full display.
Having done it a few times, I can't even remember now what the original method was precisely. But all the functions are still there -- that's the important thing! And I'm still here on Firefox (at least until the next bone-headed crisis....)

• Getting tab name or tab id or tab label at runtime

Hi All,
I think the answer is "no" but I'm going to ask anyway just in case I missed something.
I am designing some authorization schemes for my application. The context behind the design is this:
1. Two-level tabs application.
2. Access is stored in a table where an assignment between a level 2 tab is assigned to a user (well, it's really assigned to groups of users but that's not that important for this question). The level 2 tab is assigned via a select-list LOV defined as:
select
tab_label d,
tab_id r
from apex_application_tabs
where application_id = :APP_ID
and workspace = :OWNER
order by 1
So I store the TAB_ID of the 2nd level tab and it's assigned to groups of users.
So what I'd like is this at runtime:
1. For page-level security, I read the Apex data dictionary and pass APP_PAGE_ID to a function that reads the page number. I traverse the tab hierarchy in APEX_APPLICATION_TABS to see if the APP_PAGE_ID resides in TAB_PAGE or TAB_ALSO_CURRENT_FOR_PAGES to get the TAB_ID. Then I check my own assignment table to see if that TAB_ID is accessible to the user. If so, return TRUE, else, return FALSE. This is working wonderfully and isn't a problem...at runtime if I navigate to a page that is on a 2nd level tab and I don't have access to the page, the security scheme errors (correctly).
2. For tab-level security, I want that at the parent tab level that if the user has access to one or more of the 2nd level child tabs, display the parent tab.
3. For tab-level security, if the user is on a parent tab (because he/she has access to at least one child tab), only show the child tabs to which they have access.
Now the problem(s). The thing is that the user sees the tabs before they navigate to them (#2 and #3 I don't have working right now) and I want to hide them if they don't have access.
For example, let's say my parent tabs are A, B, and C. Child tabs are A1, A2, A3 underneath A. B1, B2, B3 underneath B. C1, C2, and C3 underneath C.
Let's say everything in A and underneath A (so A1, A2, and A3) are available to anyone who has a login to the application. No problem there.
Then, let's say most or all users have access to B1 but fewer users have access to B2 and B3. What I want is that if anything from B is available to a user, show parent tab B. If the user clicks on parent tab B, then show B1, B2, and B3 but only show the tabs to which they have access (so if they have access to B1 and B2 but not B3, do not display B3).
Then, let's say C is a very powerful administrative tab and very few people have access to it. I want to not-show C at all for people who do not have any access to C1, C2, or C3.
The problem I have at runtime is that I cannot find a way for a tab to pass information about itself when the tab is about to paint (or not-paint). The only variable or substitution string at runtime that I can find to reference about a tab is "CURRENT_PARENT_TAB_TEXT". However this gives me only information about the parent tab's text of the parent tab that has focus right now; each parent tab cannot pass it's own info until I navigate there. I need to get that information w/o navigating to the tab first so that I can determine to show/hide the tab. Does that make sense? In other words, at runtime, I log into the system and let's say I'm not very powerful and should only be on tabs A1, A2, and A3 under A. I log in, I land on A1, and I can see A2 and A3 (good), but also I can see parent tabs B and C poking up there too. CURRENT_PARENT_TAB_TEXT does not resolve to B or C (it currently resolves to A) until I actually try to click on B or C. I need to hide B or C before the user clicks.
Yes I can do it if I hard-code the name of the tab in a security boolean function, but I would have to have as many authorization schemes as I have tabs. This is why I want just one tab-level scheme where I pass the tab name or ID at runtime dynamically but I can't seem to reference it.
Over in the template for two-level tabls I see #TAB_LABEL#, #TAB_NAME#, #TAB_ID#, and #TAB_LINK#. These don't seem to be available to PL/SQL to pass at runtime to a PL/SQL function. If they could, this would be my answer.
Any other options or am I stuck on this one?
BTW...we are on version 3.2 of Apex and going to version 4 soon. If something is available in 4 for this that helps, I can do it then.
Ideas? Thanks!

Hey gti_matt,
Did you end up getting anywhere with this?
I'm in the same boat atm...
Thanks,

• Re-name worksheet tabs from cell contents?

Is is possible to re-name worksheet tabs automatically from cell contents in another sheet within the same workbook?
I have a workbook with 30 sheets all feeding data into sheet 31 - the Master Worksheet where all the data is collated etc.
There are occasions when I'll need to rename the individual sheets, but is there a way to change this in my 'master worksheet' without having to go back and individually re-name all the other sheets?

General,
At this time there is no way to do what you want. If you can formulate a clear feature request you can post your idea to Apple using the menu item "Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback".
There is a way, however, to use a function called indirect() that can take input from a table to construct a cell reference. Not know your specific setup it is hard to provide a specific suggestion.

• Changing tab page name

In the web client, How do you go about changing tab page names. For instance, the tab page default on complaints transaction has a heading called technical analysis. I want to change it to just analysis. I looked in the tab groups I see the event with the tab name, however, it can't be modified there? can someone enlighten me on where this modification can be made?

Amory, in order to change the actual name of the tab (read: event), every tab is associated with an event, lookup Tab Group, CPL_ODC1, here you see a View Swith Group assigned 'S10_HD_ANA'. When you lookup this View Swith Group, you see the description 'Technical Analysis'. Copy both this entry and replace it's description accordingly. Then copy the tab group and refer to the newly created View Switch Group. After this create an entry in the BAB tables for your application for the event S10_HD_TREE_ANALYSIS and refer also to you newly created tab group. Hope this helpes, Tiest.

• Getting Tab Name or Tab Id

Hello,
In my page I have 4 tabs. I would like to get the tab name or tab id to pass to my pl/sql procedure. When user clicks the tab, I am passing certain parameters to the plsql procedure. So is there any way i can uniquely get the tab name or tab id?
Thanks in advance
Regards

well,
it is still vague for me to understand what do you mean by getting tab name from URL.
perhaps what you intend to have is a programmatic way of finding tab name from URL.
for that in 10.1.4 as the query strings do not work that way, so you may use the following API function call and use it to write some custom function. (note that it will work when you will call it from some page on your portal).
portal30.wwctx_api.get_path_infothis gives typically a result like this depending upon the page address/location (and provided that you are on a tab of a multi-tab page):
/!PORTAL30.wwpob_page.show/SHARED/U/PAGE_GRP/PAGE_NAME/TABNAMEhope that helps!

• Apex Tab Set name variable

Hi,
Can someone tell me the apex global variable for TAB SET Name please?
Is there any document from I can get complete list of all Apex variable names?
Thanks in advance
Dip

Can someone tell me the apex global variable for TAB SET Name please?Not clear what you mean by "variable": can you provide more context?
Is there any document from I can get complete list of all Apex variable names?If you mean substitution strings, then Flavio has a very ueful list of them and where it's possible to use them:
http://oraclequirks.blogspot.com/2007/07/apex-substitution-strings-cross.html
Other than that, the APEX documentation is probably the best place, although you may need to hunt around to find what you want:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/doc.html
For example, here's a list of substitution strings supported in page templates:

Solved!
Go to Solution.

You are have your answer concerning enabling and disabling tabs. Concerning the first part of your question you can not dynamically change the names of tabs at runtime. The reason is that logically tabs are enumerated with the tab names being the enumerations. In other words the names aren't properties that you can change, they are part of the datatype.
Now what you can do is use a combination of buttons and enabling/disabling controls to simulate the appearance of a tab control - which might not be a bad idea given the problems that tabs can cause.

• Spry tabbed panels, opening a tabbed panel, problem with IE

i've have made a site, with tabbed panels,
all the pages are made of a template;
everythings works fine; in Firefox and Opera,
but only in IE when i open a tabbed panel from a menubar, the contents is opened behind my header location;
i've used spry 1.6.1 and spryUtils to open the tabbed panel.
because there no other posibilty to open a tabbed panel from my other page.
i've tested the site on CSS and all, and i've don't get any errors.
this site is only on our intranet, and DVD;
so is not a online site
i' dont have anything modified in the java script.
just changed some minor adjustments to the CSS of the tabbed panels
The page is containing a fixed footer and header, FOR all browsers therefore is the CSS IE hacks also.

• APEX 2-level tab App. not showing tabs in IE 8

Hi everybody!
I've created a 2-level tab application (first it was APEX 3.2 and I upgraded to APEX 4 but it's still happening) and I can only see the parent tabs in Firefox, cause in Internet Explorer 8 they won't show, both over Windows XP or 7.
The strange thing is that it won't display them in the default page but once I manage to navigate to another page they show as long I'm standing on that other page of the App, so it would seem a tab config. problem, though Firefox shows it right!
Would this be a compatibility problem or bug, or am I just coming across a developing problem that hopefully Firefox is managing to understand anyway? Following a summary of my App. tab setup in case it was helpful:

As you can see every tab has a number (2), which means that all pages should display the 2 levels of tabs and there's not conflict, like in a (*) case.
Thanks.

Many thanks for answering quickly!, but I created the tabs using blog examples in fact, and as I stated before, under Firefox it's displayed as it should be. My problem is on Internet Explorer, versions 7 and 8 on Win XP or 7.
Anyone having this same problem with tabs on IE?

• How to disable a tab in a spark tab bar?

I have a spark tab bar linked to a ViewStack. In olden days, IIRC, setting the enabled property of a viewstack member would set the corresponding tab inactive. However, if I try that now, the tab control is still active, but the contents of the viewstack for that tab is indeed disabled.
To reiterate: I want certain tabs in a spark tab bar to be disabled (i.e. unable to be chosen and displaying their disabled skin state).
<s:TabBar id="tabBar" dataProvider="{tabStack}" x="70" y="91" skinClass="CalculatorTabsSkin"/>
<mx:ViewStack id="tabStack" width="100%" height="100%" creationPolicy="all" change="tabStack_changeHandler(event)">
<s:NavigatorContent id="nc1" label="PIERS">
<comp:Tab1 id="tab1" width="100%" height="100%" continue="tab1_continueHandler(event)" />
</s:NavigatorContent>
<s:NavigatorContent id="nc2" label="FOOTINGS">
<comp:Tab2 id="tab2" width="100%" height="100%" continue="tab2_continueHandler(event)" numberOfPiers="{totalNumberPiers}" />
</s:NavigatorContent>
<s:NavigatorContent id="nc3" label="BAGS OR TRUCK?">
<comp:Tab3 id="tab3" width="100%" height="100%" totalCubicYards="{totalCubicYards}" totalNumberBags="{totalNumberBags}" />
</s:NavigatorContent>
</mx:ViewStack>

Addendum:
Literally two minutes after I got back to actually working, I found a more "elegant" solution. I posted it elsewhere, but I guess I forgot to share it here. =/ So I thought I'd update this real quick. =)
If you apply a custom skinClass to your tab bar you can bind the tab.enabled property just like you'd expect/want.
<!-- some component that has the TabBar in it... -->
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
[Bindable] private var tab2IsReady:Boolean = false;
private function checkCriteria():void{
tab2IReady = someOtherThing.isFinished;//Boolean
]]>
</fx:Script>
<s:TabBar id="theTabBar"
dataProvider="{viewStack}"
skinClass="skins.CustomTabBarSkin"/>
<mx:ViewStack id="viewStack">
<s:NavigatorContent label="Tab index 0">
<!-- Your first tab's content -->
</s:NavigatorContent>
<s:NavigatorContent label="Tab index 1" enabled="{tab2IsReady}">
<!-- Your second tab's content -->
</s:NavigatorContent>
</mx:ViewStack>
<!-- rest of the component that has the the TabBar in it... -->
When you type "skinClass" use the auto complete to generate the custom skin (named whatever you want).
The generated code will appear like below (I left out the Script tag).
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!-- skins/CustomTabBarSkin.mxml
Adobe's copyright & doc comments
-->
<s:Skin
xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:fb="http://ns.adobe.com/flashbuilder/2009"
alpha.disabled="0.5">
<fx:Metadata>
<![CDATA[
* @copy spark.skins.spark.ApplicationSkin#hostComponent
[HostComponent("spark.components.TabBar")]
]]>
</fx:Metadata>
<!-- optional Script tag here -->
<s:states>
<s:State name="normal" />
<s:State name="disabled" />
</s:states>
<!--- @copy spark.components.SkinnableDataContainer#dataGroup -->
<s:DataGroup id="dataGroup" width="100%" height="100%">
<s:layout>
<s:ButtonBarHorizontalLayout gap="-1"/>
</s:layout>
<s:itemRenderer>
<fx:Component>
<s:ButtonBarButton skinClass="spark.skins.spark.TabBarButtonSkin" />
</fx:Component>
</s:itemRenderer>
</s:DataGroup>
</s:Skin>
<!-- End skins/CustomTabBarSkin.mxml -->
Then add the enabled property to the ButtonBarButton & bind it to data.enabled in your skin class.
Change:
<fx:Component>
<s:ButtonBarButton skinClass="spark.skins.spark.TabBarButtonSkin" />
</fx:Component>
To:
<fx:Component>
<s:ButtonBarButton skinClass="spark.skins.spark.TabBarButtonSkin"
enabled="{data.enabled}" />
</fx:Component>
Then any <s:NavigatorContent/> used with a TabBar using that skin will respect the enabled property and do exactly what you expect & want (be enabled when true, & disabled when false).
Hope this helps some people. WIsh I'd remembered to re-post it here when I first figured it out.
Happy Coding! =D

Hi Ashwini,
To install the snmp service, please refer to the script below:
#Import ServerManger Module
Import-Module ServerManager
#Check If SNMP Services Are Already Installed
$check = Get-WindowsFeature | Where-Object {$_.Name -eq "SNMP-Services"}
If ($check.Installed -ne "True") {
#Install/Enable SNMP Services
Add-WindowsFeature SNMP-Services | Out-Null
After installing this service, please try to reboot if you can, and check the tabs, a similar dscussion is for your reference:

• App Tabs. My app tabs have dissapeared with the latest update. 4.0Beta5. The option to make a tab an app tab and my previous app tabs have dissapeared.

see above. When I rebooted Firefox my App Tabs . My app tabs have disappeared with the latest update. 4.0Beta5. The option to make a tab an app tab and my previous app tabs have disappeared.

App Tabs are stored in sessionstore.js as part of the session data, so make sure that session restore is enabled and working.
This can be a problem with the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak and any existing files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js .

• TabStrip: Know wich tab is the active tab

Hi all,
How can i know wich tab is the active tab in runtime?
Could you put a sample code?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Create one context node with 1 attriute of type string. let's say it's name is "Active_Tab". Bind this attribute with property "selectedTab" . You must have assigned some names to all the tabls in tab strip.
At run time, when you will read this attribute, it will give you the name of currently selected tab.
Thanks
Vishal
