Taking a single picture

I am very newbie to JMF.
I have a simple problem: I must take (and save) a single shot, it is a static picture, with a web camera from a java application. I have some examples for capturing audio and video streams, but none for a single shot. Can you help me ?

Can you add to the Lightroom an ability to process several raw files with the same content but with different exposure into the single picture?
Base raw files can be given with exposure bracketing during shooting, for example.
The goal - to get maximum details in darks and lights (if we use the "ligths recovery" or "fill lights" we lose the quality because raw file just have no all required information).
The similar (but not the same, only the idea) thing - is High Dynamic Range Photography in Adobe Photoshop

The plugin LR/Enfuse does this already. And of course Photomatix have a plugin available for Lightroom. This essentially amounts to pixel editing, which is beyond the range of Lightroom's metadata editing.

Can't click on photo when slider set to single picture

Prior to Iphoto 08, when you set the slider to show a single picture (all the way to the right), you could double click on it to edit, drag it to a folder, etc. With iphoto 08, you cannot do this. It is rather annoying to use the large view to determine which photo I want, then move the slider to a smaller photo size (where you can see multiple pics) and then click on it or drag it. (as an example, if you click on a photo in the tiled mode, it brings up the picture info in the bar on the left, if you do it when that is the only photo on the screen, the info will either show the event or photo library info.

this is a known issue in iPhoto '08 and has been discussed many times at length on this forum - there is no know workaround except to slide the slide to the left and display multiple photos

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help:
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Searching for multiple faces in single picture

Is it possible to search for multiple faces in a single picture. I would e.g. like to search for all pictures containg Person X and Person Y.

File -> New Smart Album
Face -> is -> X
+
Face -> is -> Y
To get pics with both, set the condition to Match All, to get either, set the condition to Match Any

Restore from the backup!
You password: You have set it! It might be your passcode or you mioght have set it accidentally, so test all of the passwords you normally use. If you cannot get the password you backup is lost, but you can still sync your iTunes content.

IMovie video with single picture

Hi Apple Support!
I'm having a problem with iMovie for a while now. I want to create a video with a song, which has one single picture shown during the whole song, without
the picture zooming in or out. I have tried to import a song and to import a single picture. But everytime I do this, the picture is there for only 6 seconds and it's fading in. I can't find any effect changes or time options. I'm an old windows movie maker user, so maybe this will explain why I still don't understand this problem. Hope anyone can help me out here. Much apreciated.

in your Projects Settings you can switch-off the KenBurns effect as preset for stills.
double click the 'clip'/still in your Project.
Set lemgth to 'whatever' length.
keep in mind, scheme is : min:sec:frames

Contents of events folder suddenly displaying single pictures only, not a thumbnail of all photos, what has happened?

Suddenly the contents of the events folders in iphoto is displayed with single pictures only, and not thumbnails. I wasn't aware I had changed any settings, but having looked at all the settings I cannot figure out how to change the display back. Anyone know what has happened?

Does the zoom slider down left of the iPhoto Window help?

Single Picture not show on iPad

Both exporting an .ibook or run the preview the single picture are not showing on iPad in landscape but show in portrait. I see the picture in the miniature of publication but when i larger the picture disappears. Foto gallery instead its ok. This problem is show me at the end of work (i have 70 page) during make layout the preview was ok.

Select that image in iBooks Author in both orientations and confirm the size is inside the layout.

Single Pictures fail to display

In iPhoto '11 (9.4.3) when I double-click on a photo in an album the picture tries to open but the screen goes dark. The size slider at the bottom is at smallest but even moved to largest no photo appears. The flag is there and the navigator (showing the photo), but the photo itself fails to appear on the screen. When I double-click in the middle of the dark screen the photo briefly shows and then I quickly see the photo return to the album collection. So the photo is there in single view, but it just doesn't appear. Strange. I should mention that I recently installed the new iTunes software on my iMac (where the iPhoto problem is taking place) and updated my iPad to the new Apple software and then sync'd it with my iMac. Can anyone help with this? Thanks very much.

How do I put single pictures into one folder and then give a name to folder

I have imported some pictures from a memory stick. They are in a single format and I want to make them into a folder and add a title to the folder. What do I do to add it to my events?

In iPhoto menu under "Events" then "Create Event."
Once you have created and named the new Event you can drag and drop from "Last Import" under "Recents" in the pane on the left to the new event.

Single Picture Slideshow Music Vid

Hey guys- I'm trying to find out how to make a simple music video. I just want a picture of a album cover shown for the duration of the music- no motion, no transitions, etc.
I've figured out how to get the music in and the picture but I can't figure out how you paste this single pic across the timeline so that there is no motion going on with it.
Can anyone give me some pointers or point me to a video tutorial somewhere? I've searched around but can't find any info for doing this.

My batch action won't work but when I run the action on a single picture it works

I'm on a Mac and I set up 2 actions the first one to resize a photo and the second one to make a frame with my photography business logo on it. The actions have previously worked fine with no issues and now all of a sudden it won't work on a batch action but it will work fine on a single photo. Please help!!!

Variable exit not taking multiple single values...urgent pls

I have created an variable exit where the variable represents mulitple single values.
In the customer exit when i trying to populate mulitiple values and move it to e_t_range it is not taking multiple values. I have also observed that it is a line item type. I want to know if there is anyway out since it is an urgent requirement. Any help would highly appreciated. I shall also award points accordingly. Thanks.

The scenaio is like this I want to hard code some values which have to be removed from the selection hence I have created the variable with multiple single value variable and I have removed (unchecked) ready for input as it is not required. After your suggestion I have also made it mandatory but after running the query I am getting a message Abort no value determined. I have written this code under if i_step = 1.
