Tap or Scroll? Understand the difference in AS3

Hello everyone, I'm developing apps for iOS with Adobe AIR since years but...I always had this big problem: how to make the app understand if I'm tapping something or if I'm just scrolling it?
In my last product I basically have a scrolling menu with some options to activate. So I need a way to determinate if I'm tapping a MovieClip or just scrolling it. Can you help me?
Thank you so much guys, have a nice day!

I would not agree on using Timer event, instead I would use (and I've been using) this:
sprite.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownHandler);
var moving:Boolean;
function mouseDownHandler(e:MouseEvent):void
  sprite.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, mouseMoveHandler);
  sprite.stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, mouseUpHandler);
  //record mouseX and mouseY in variable
function mouseMoveHandler(e:MouseEvent):void
  moving = true;
  //set sprite's coordinates
function mouseUpHandler(e:MouseEvent):void
  if (moving)
   //it means it is scrolling
  } else
    //it means it is a click only..

  • I still don't totally understand the difference on my iPhone between PhotoStream (with iCloud icon), Photos (the icon) and Albums and Camera Roll (under Photos icon) and and Camera Roll (under Camera icon).  I want to delete photos from my iPhone 4.

    I  don’t  understand the difference on my iPhone between PhotoStream (with iCloud icon), Photos (the icon) and Albums and Camera Roll (under Photos icon) and and Camera Roll (under Camera icon).  They seem to be more or less the same thing, but deleting photos in one place does not delete them elsewhere.
    When I tried to import from my camera to my iMac computer the computer would not recognized 900 of the 920 photos on the camera so I had to (successfully) use the Image Capture application to import them.
    I want to delete photos from my iPhone 4 in order to free up storage (I only have 8GB.)  But in synching I do not want to delete any images from my iPhoto on my computer.
    Is there a way that I can Delete All under Edit in either Photos or Camera on my iPhone and check about 20 ijmages to remain on the iPhone?  I could find no command to Select All and then uncheck the 20 photos I want to keep.
    I have the 8GB iPhone and the iMac with OS 10.9.2 and iPhoto '09 Version 8.1.2.
    Help!

    I have Version 6.1.3 because the clogged storage will not allow me to upload Version 7.1.  Catch 22.  This is basically a storage issue, I believe.  I cannot delete enough stuff on my iPhone to allow me to either back up or upload the new OS 7.  I am unwilling to pay for more storage in iCloud, so I want to delete stuff I don't need.  But I haven't yet figured out how to successfully do that.  I synch my phone and computer.  I want to delete mail on the Mail app and photos and still keep my photos on my computer on iPhoto, but not on my phone.  I seem unable to do that.  Any advice?

  • Want to understand the Difference between Attempt sign in and sign in in Unity Connection

    I would like to understand the difference between Attempt sign in and sign in in Unity Connection.
    If I do a direct routing rule to attempt sign in and another routing rule directly to sign in, what would be the difference for the caller (inside caller with or without voicemail and also outside caller with or without voicemail)?  Thank you!  Lise

    Attempt Sign-In—Sends the call to the user sign in conversation, if the calling number belongs to a user. The calling number is used as the ID. If the call is not from a user, the next rule in the routing table is applied to the call information.
    Sign-In—Sends the call to the user sign in conversation, which prompts the caller to enter an ID.

    I understand the difference between imessage and SMS but when I text a friend who used to receive imessages (blue), my phone shows I'm sending her SMS (green) messages. No longer are they blue. She has an iphone and this happens when we are both connected to wifi. We have both recently updated to ios7. Thanks!

  • Understanding the difference

    hi folks, would someone please make me understand the difference between the PeopleSoft Application Server, TUXEDO and PSADMIN interface? Are PeopleSoft Application Server and TUXEDO the same?

    I did not say Tuxedo was doing everything. Only the AppServer <=> database connection pool. The AppServer on his side is in between Tuxedo (db) and Web (within Jolt port) and do all the business stuff from the Peoplesoft librairies.
    Application server is also used to connect client through WSL port from AppDesigner in 3rd tier mode.
    Here's the definition of Tuxedo :
    +"PeopleSoft uses *Oracle Tuxedo, a middleware framework and transaction monitor, to manage transactions between the application server and the database.* PeopleSoft also uses Oracle Jolt, a Java API and class library, to facilitate communication between Tuxedo running on the application server and the PeopleSoft software running on the web server. Tuxedo and Jolt are required elements of the PeopleSoft application server.
    Note. Tuxedo doesn’t actually perform processing on the application server; it schedules PeopleSoft server processes to perform the transactions."+

  • I'm trying to understand the difference between Photoshop Elements and Lightroom software.

    Does one have things the other does not?

    Hi,
    Lightroom is to manage photos and produce derivative images without ever modifying an original file. Its processing functionality has a narrow feature-set covering the most common needs of professional photographers whereas Elements is a simpler yet powerful photo manipulation tool. Elements is designed to satisfy the needs of photo enthusiasts who like to manipulate images.
    You can also go through the thread to understand the basic difference between PSE and Lightroom.
    Check if this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Understanding the difference of tcpdump

    Hey everyone!
    I just portscanned my server and also used a tcpdump which I grepped for the IP of my server to limit every results to information connected with my server.
    I basically am receiving two different answers:
    13:07:43.733576 IP myIP-address.port > serverIP-Address.serverport: Flags [S], seq 128992249, win 65535, options [mss 1460,nop,wscale 4,nop,nop,TS val 1035529232 ecr 0,sackOK,eol], length 0
    13:07:47.797340 IP myIP-address.port > serverIP-Address.serverport: Flags [S], seq 128992249, win 65535, options [mss 1460,sackOK,eol], length 0
    In this example are myIP-address.port and serverIP-Address.serverport each identical with their equivalents in the second line. Still I got far more information in the second line. The only thing that is connecting to serverIP-Address is a portscan, so can someone explain to me the difference in outpout?

    You know, a simple browse over those 2 Classes in the API will easily answer your questions.

  • Help to understand the difference

    Please forgive me for my English
    I learn DPM 2012
    And I have a question what is the difference between File Recovery points and Express Full Back UP
    1. They both work as both incremental back up? Recovery Points or works as a differential back up and Express Full Back Up as incremental back up.
    What is the difference between them?
    For quite a long time I can not find the answer to your question
    Thanks in advance for your reply

    Hi,
    For file protection (volume and shares and Client) there are two job types.
    A) synchronization = this brings over changed file data and applies them to the replica.  These synchronizations are not recoverable from recovery tab.  It controls how often you want to update the replica - the more frequent the synchronizations,
    the less risk of data loss should the protected volume or server fail.
    B) Recovery point - This is a VSS snapshot of the replica and represents a recovery point that you can recover data from.  No data is xfered when a recovery point is made. There is a 64 snapshot limit for file data.  You can make a manual recovery
    point without synchronization in between scheduled recovery points so you can recover data from the last successful synchronization.
    For application data that support incremental backups (exchange, SQL Db's in full recovery mode) there are two job types.
    A) Synchronization - This is equivalent of an incremental backup and only brings over log changes.  Each incremental synchronization is equivalent to a recovery point.  Each incremental synchronization results in application log truncation which
    is performed by the application (SQL / Exchange)
     B) Express full - This is equivalent to FULL backup, however only brings over Database changed blocks and applies them to the replica volume then makes a snapshot  Each express full backup is recoverable.  Express full backups do not result
    in log truncation by the application.  There is a 512 snapshot limit for express full backups.
    For applications that do not support incremental backups (SharePoint, SQL Db's in simple recovery mode, Hyper-V VMs)  always use express full backups.

  • Trying to understand the difference in dvd types

    I just purchased a samsung dvd recorder so I can record from my TV.
    I tried recording something on DVD -R which is what my ibook reads.
    The dvd recorder can play what I recorded but the ibook doesn't even acknowledge the dvd when I put it in the slot & I have to restart in order to get the dvd out.
    Please excuse my lack of knowledge of this but what am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!

    PS just bought a 15" MacBookPro, can't wait for it to arrive!

    Jeff let me see if I can shed any light on your delima.
    First not all DVD is the same, Software has a lot to do with your success.
    Nero Software used by PC if not properly confiqured will not play on a Mac.
    Roxio, Toast and Popcorn has 3 different settings PC, only...Mac, only...PC or Mac..
    Many DVD recorders like you bought need to be directly connected to your Mac to copy succesfully, While others can copy .
    There are several different ways to accomplish what you want. You will have to be careful when purchasing different pieces of Hardware.
    Many require you to hook up Video and Audio Cable and play VHS or TV and record direct to your Mac.

  • I don't understand the difference between the number of photos shown in the library and the number that is updated at the end of a session. They are very different.

    In the Library in iphoto, under Photos, I have 1,896 photos. Sometimes, after working in iphoto, an update will flash through quickly at the top of iphoto. The last one showed 6,131 photos. Where are these photos?

    This question doesn't make any sense for iPhoto for iOS. If you are asking about iPhoto on your Mac you might want to post the question in the iLife > iPhoto forum instead of this forum which is iPhoto for iOS.

  • How can i understand the differents logs in oracle rac?

    I need to check if everything is running ok

    Interesting check list.
    But to check (RMAN) backup I would add something like:
    RMAN> list backup completed after 'SYSDATE-1';or
    RMAN> report need backup;I would also add some periodic recovery tests.

  • What is the difference between "Take in" and "Send in" service?

    I have an iPhone 6 that reboots frequently for no reason. As the warranty is still valid, I want Apple to review it. I bought it in the States but I don't live there, and I'll be back for 3  days. Visiting the support website it gives me 2 options:
    SEND IN FOR SERVICE: Send it to Apple for repair or replacement.
    TAKE IN FOR SERVICE: Find an Apple Retail Store or local Apple Authorized Service Provider
    I assumed that if I took it to a store they would replace it. But seems they won't. I can't understand the difference between this Two types of service.

    If you take it in, they will make a diagnosis on the spot and let you know what your
    options are. If the iPhone qualifies for replacement, the replacement will take
    place immediately.
    Make an appointment at the Genius Bar to avoid delay. If you will be going to Apple on/after
    April 10, expect large crowds due to the beginning of  Watch demos.

  • What is the difference between SWF and F4V in the context of Streaming or progressive Download?

    Hello everybody,
    I am absolutely a beginner in working with Captivate and furthermore my technological know how is not that good.
    So, I have problems to understand if the export formats SWF and F4V are both capable to be published in the Internet as streaming video and as progressive Download? Well so, I do not really understand the difference between streaming and progessive download either?
    Furthermore I was asking myself if this issue depends on how I imported flash videos (there are these two options) in my Captivate project during the production phase?
    I would be very thankful for some helping information!
    Greetings,
    Mareike the beginner

    Welcome to our community
    I'm not certain I fully understand the differences myself, but will toss out what I believe to be true about the formats. Hopefully, if I'm incorrect in my bellief, someone with more definitive knowledge will chime in.
    It was explained to me a couple of years back and is my understanding that "streaming" only applies to a video based format such as F4V, FLV and it doesn't apply to SWF. With SWF, you may specify a preload value. So when the SWF transmits from the web server to the PC, a certain percentage has to be received before play begins. But that's not streaming. It's preloading.
    For streaming to occur, the web server establishes a communication channel between the server and the destination PC. This channel is monitored to see what speed is in use. Only enough information is then transmitted to be comfortable at that speed. If the speed improves during the connection, the server serves data at a faster rate. If the connection degrades, the information transmitted is also scaled back so as to accommodate the lower speed.
    With SWF, after it has all been downloaded, a savvy user is able to poke around in their temporary internet files and save the SWF for play later. With streaming, this isn't possible because as the stream is viewed, it evaporates from memory.
    Seriously hoping others will chime in here to confirm or deny this.
    Cheers... Rick

  • I want to reserve a static IP address on my Airport extreme.  What is the difference between reserving by MAC Address and DHCP Client ID?

    I want to understand the differences in the way you can reserve a static address for a device on the network.  I had previously set the device itself to an address and then reserved it with DHCP Client ID, which I thought was just the devices static addresss.  I'm not sure if this was in fact correct or just happend to work.  I know what a MAC address is, but I'm not really sure what the DHCP Client ID is. So it would be great if someone could clarify it, and the difference between reserving address by MAC Address or DHCP Client ID.

    A MAC address is a unique identification consisting of letters and numbers in a form that looks like this:
    xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
    Every network device has a MAC address, which can be found on a label on the bottom or back of the device. Apple calls this the Ethernet ID.
    A DHCP Client ID is an optional name that you can assign to a device. For example, on your Mac....
    Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Network
    Click on Ethernet
    Click Advanced at the lower right
    You may be able to edit the DHCP Client  ID here....for example.....you could enter MJ500's MacBook in the space provided. That would be the Client ID of your Mac.
