Target JSP report fails when called with a key defined in cgicmd.dat

Hi,
When I am calling the parameter form report as (on my local pc):
http://rnbhatta-us:8888/reports/pf_sumsptype.jsp?gsi
It works fine. Here 'gsi' is the KEY that has the userid/passwd@connect_string that I have defined in the cmgcgi.dat file on my local pc.
Now the report pf_sumsptype.jsp makes a call in a similar manner to the target report with the same 'gsi' key as in the code :
<form name="form1" method="post" action="/reports/summary_sptype.jsp?gsi">
The call to the target report 'summary_sptype.jsp' fails. It works if I replace 'gsi' in the above line with the userid and connect info.
Is there any other way to hide the database connect info?
Thanks,
Ritendra.

I'm not sure why this should fail, but you could try changing the method above from post to get.

    When I request the jsp listed at the bottom, I get the following error:

  • I have a production mobile Flex app that uses RemoteObject calls for all data access, and it's working well, except for a new remote call I just added that only fails when running with a release build.  The same call works fine when running on the device

    I have a production mobile Flex app that uses RemoteObject calls for all data access, and it's working well, except for a new remote call I just added that only fails when running with a release build. The same call works fine when running on the device (iPhone) using debug build. When running with a release build, the result handler is never called (nor is the fault handler called). Viewing the BlazeDS logs in debug mode, the call is received and send back with data. I've narrowed it down to what seems to be a data size issue.
    I have targeted one specific data call that returns in the String value a string length of 44kb, which fails in the release build (result or fault handler never called), but the result handler is called as expected in debug build. When I do not populate the String value (in server side Java code) on the object (just set it empty string), the result handler is then called, and the object is returned (release build).
    The custom object being returned in the call is a very a simple object, with getters/setters for simple types boolean, int, String, and one org.23c.dom.Document type. This same object type is used on other other RemoteObject calls (different data) and works fine (release and debug builds). I originally was returning as a Document, but, just to make sure this wasn't the problem, changed the value to be returned to a String, just to rule out XML/Dom issues in serialization.
    I don't understand 1) why the release build vs. debug build behavior is different for a RemoteObject call, 2) why the calls work in debug build when sending over a somewhat large (but, not unreasonable) amount of data in a String object, but not in release build.
    I have't tried to find out exactly where the failure point in size is, but, not sure that's even relevant, since 44kb isn't an unreasonable size to expect.
    By turning on the Debug mode in BlazeDS, I can see the object and it's attributes being serialized and everything looks good there. The calls are received and processed appropriately in BlazeDS for both debug and release build testing.
    Anyone have an idea on other things to try to debug/resolve this?
    Platform testing is BlazeDS 4, Flashbuilder 4.7, Websphere 8 server, iPhone (iOS 7.1.2). Tried using multiple Flex SDK's 4.12 to the latest 4.13, with no change in behavior.
    Thanks!

    After a week's worth of debugging, I found the issue.
    The Java type returned from the call was defined as ArrayList.  Changing it to List resolved the problem.
    I'm not sure why ArrayList isn't a valid return type, I've been looking at the Adobe docs, and still can't see why this isn't valid.  And, why it works in Debug mode and not in Release build is even stranger.  Maybe someone can shed some light on the logic here to me.

  • Is it possible to call diff  report queries when called from form

    hello all
    I want to know if it is possible to call different report queries when called from oracle 9i form .
    i tried to use he
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(REPORT_QUERY = 'q_diff' )
    option and actualy called the report name
    but it dint seem to work !!!
    also is it possible to chng the title of the browser at runtime

    Sandeep,
    this property is used with passing Record Groups as data parameters from Forms.
    Passing the query name indicates that the values contained in the record group substitutes the result of the named query. This may work in client/server Reports, but it definitively doesn't work on teh Web because you can't pass a Record Group as a data parameter in this environment.
    Te problem with changing a Reports query is that you must meet the same number of columns and column types as they exist in the Report. I didn't spend much time with XML based runtime customization in Reports. I think that you can change the Reports query through this feature. In Forms you would create the XML file using text_io and the merge it with an existing Reports. I never did this before. So it could be that all I am saying does not work in the end. Before following this idea, you may better ask in teh Reports forum on OTN if it is possible to use the runtime customization feature to modify the Reports query.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 fails when called from e Web Service under 64bit OS

    I have discovered that Crystal Reports 2008 doesn't work when called from a Web Service running under 64bit Windows platforms (in my case Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP 64bit); practically no object is instantiated. I've tried several solutions without success.
    Before creating a wrapper component to use under COM+, is there anybody who has a better and cheaper solution than creating another component to wrap CR 2008 ?

    Hi Sergio,
    Before I mark this post as assumed answered I would just like to say and re-iterate that at this time there is no one answer and we fully understand your concerns. As you know in CR 6.0 it came in 16 and 32 bit versions because at the time 32 bit was relatively new but 16 bit was the norm. This is also true for 32 to 64 bit, 32 is the norm and 64 bit is relatively new. We know and are well aware 64 bit is the future and we are working as quickly as we can to move in that direction. Because of the complexity of the Product it's not simply a matter of re-compiling all of our dll's in 64 bit format. The core of our data connectivity with our database drivers which are dependant on third party clients must also need to support 64 bit modes. This as well as Printer drivers also need to be 64 compatable, there are a multitude of dependencies that we rely on that must add 64 bit support. As a programmer you are well aware of the issues around Thunking back and forth between 32 to 64 bits, it can cause delays and potentially loss of data which is a whole other issue. Not to mention also that we would have to ship both versions potentially doubling the size of the distribution packages or doubling the size of the dll's to have the ability to work in both modes. Relatively speaking of course, it would not be double the size but the variables would need to be able to allocate 32 or 64 memory blocks.
    The other option is to produce 2 separate versions, this alone is a massive project. Any issue would need to be fixed in separate code streams.
    So I'm sure you can see it's not simply a matter of saying yes we support 64 bit. It's a massive project that is going to take time to do and we have to wait for the third party drivers to commit also.
    Visual Studio .NET 2005 and 2008 is the only option if you want true 64 bit but you will be limited on what DB's you can support and export formats you can export to. They are the only drivers we did convert to 64 bit.
    Thank you for your understanding

  • Reports fail when run against a different data source

    Hello,
    We have a VB.NET 2008 WinForms application running on Microsoft .NET 3.5. We are using Crystal Reports 2008 runtime, service pack 3 -- using the CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer in the app to view reports. In the GAC on all our client computers, we have versions 12.0.1100.0 and 12.0.2000.0 of CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, CrystalDecisions.Shared, and CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.
    Please refer to another one of our posted forum issues, u201CCritical issue since upgrading from CR9 to CR2008u201D, as these issues seem to be related:
    Critical issue since upgrading from CR9 to CR2008
    We were concerned with report display slow down, and we seemed to have solved this by using the Oracle Server driver (instead of either Microsoft's or Oracle's OLEDB driver).  But now we must find a resolution to another piece of the puzzle, which is:  why does a report break if one data source is embedded in the .rpt file is different than the one you are trying to run the report against, in the .NET Viewer?
    Problem:
    If you have a production database name (e.g. "ProdDB") embedded in your .rpt file that you built your report from and try to run that report against a development database (e.g. "DevDB") (OR VICE VERSA -- it is the switch that is the important concept here), the report fails with a list of messages such as this:
        Failed to retrieve data from the database
        Details:  [Database vendor code: 6550 ]
    This only seems to happen if the source of the report data (i.e. the underlying query) is an Oracle stored procedure or a Crystal Reports SQL Command -- the reports run fine against all data sources if the source is a table or a view).  In trying different things to troubleshoot this, including adding a ReportDocument.VerifyDatabase() call after setting the connection information, the Crystal Reports viewer will spit out other nonsensical errers regarding being unable to find certain fields (e.g. "The field name is not known), or not able to find the table (even though the source data should be coming from an Oracle stored procedure, not a table).
    When the reports are run in the Crystal Reports Designer, they run fine no matter what database is being used; but the problem only happens while being run in the .NET viewer.  It's almost as if something internally isn't getting fully "set" to the new data source, or something -- we're really grasping at straws here.
    For the sake of completeness of information, here is how we're setting the connection information
            '-- Set database connection info for the main report
            For Each oConnectionInfo In oCrystalReport.DataSourceConnections
                oConnectionInfo.SetConnection(gsDBDataSource, "", gsDBUserID, gsDBPassword)
            Next oConnectionInfo
            '-- Set database connection info for each subreport
            For Each oSubreport In oCrystalReport.Subreports
                For Each oConnectionInfo In oSubreport.DataSourceConnections
                    oConnectionInfo.SetConnection(gsDBDataSource, "", gsDBUserID, gsDBPassword)
                Next oConnectionInfo
            Next oSubreport
    ... but in troubleshooting, we've even tried an "overkill" approach and added this code as well:
            '-- Set database connection info for each table in the main report
            For Each oTable In oCrystalReport.Database.Tables
                With oTable.LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo
                    .ServerName = gsDBDataSource
                    .UserID = gsDBUserID
                    .Password = gsDBPassword
                    For Each oPair In .LogonProperties
                        If UCase(CStr(oPair.Name)) = "DATA SOURCE" Then
                            oPair.Value = gsDBDataSource
                            Exit For
                        End If
                    Next oPair
                End With
                oTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(oTable.LogOnInfo)
            Next oTable
            '-- Set database connection info for each table in each subreport
            For Each oSubreport In oCrystalReport.Subreports
                For Each oTable In oSubreport.Database.Tables
                    With oTable.LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo
                        .ServerName = gsDBDataSource
                        .UserID = gsDBUserID
                        .Password = gsDBPassword
                        For Each oPair In .LogonProperties
                            If UCase(CStr(oPair.Name)) = "DATA SOURCE" Then
                                oPair.Value = gsDBDataSource
                                Exit For
                            End If
                        Next oPair
                    End With
                    oTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(oTable.LogOnInfo)
                Next oTable
            Next oSubreport
    ... alas, it makes no difference.  If we run the report against a database that is different than the one specified with "Set Datasource Location" in Crystal, it fails with nonsense errors

    Thanks for the reply, Ludek.  We have made some breakthroughs, uncovered some Crystal bugs and workarounds, and we're probably 90% there I hope.
    For your first point, unfortunately the information on the Oracle 6550 error was generic, and not much help in our case.  And for your second point, the errors didn't have anything to do with subreports at that time -- the error would manifest itself even in a simple, one-level report.
    However, your third point (pointing us to KB 1553921) helped move us forward quite a bit more.  For the benefit of all, here is a link to that KB article:
    Link: [KB 1553921|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333533353333333933323331%7D.do]
    We downloaded the tool referenced there, and pointed it at a couple of our reports.  The bottom line is that the code it generated uses a completely new area of the Crystal Reports .NET API which we had not used before -- in the CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer namespace.  Using code based on what that RasConnectionInfo tool generated, we were able gain greater visibility into some of the objects in the API and to uncover what I think qualifies as a genuine bug in Crystal Reports.
    The CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ISCRTable class exposes a property called QualifiedName, something that isn't exposed by the more commonly-used CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table class.  When changing the data source with our old code referenced above (CrystalDecisions.Shared.ConnectionInfo.SetConnection), I saw that Crystal would actually change the Table.QualifiedName from something like "SCHEMAOWNER.PACKAGENAME.PROCNAME" to just "PROCNAME" (essentially stripping off the schema and package name).  Bad, Crystal...  VERY BAD!  IMHO, Crystal potentially deserves to be swatted on the a** with the proverbial rolled-up newspaper.
    I believe this explains why we were also able to generate errors indicating that field names or tables were not found -- because Crystal had gone and changed the QualifiedName to remove some key info identifying the database object!  So, knowing this and using the code generated by the RasConnectionInfo tool, we were able to work around this bug with code that worked for most of our reports ("most" is the key word here -- more on that in a bit).
    So, first of all, I'll post our new code.  Here is the main area where we loop through all of the tables in the report and subreports:
    '-- Replace each table in the main report with new connection info
    For Each oTable In oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.Database.Tables
        oNewTable = oTable.Clone()
        oNewTable.ConnectionInfo = GetNewConnectionInfo(oTable)
        oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.SetTableLocation(oTable, oNewTable)
    Next oTable
    '-- Replace each table in any subreports with new connection info
    For iLoop = 0 To oCrystalReport.Subreports.Count - 1
        sSubreportName = oCrystalReport.Subreports(iLoop).Name
        For Each oTable In oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.SubreportController.GetSubreportDatabase(sSubreportName).Tables
            oNewTable = oTable.Clone()
            oNewTable.ConnectionInfo = GetNewConnectionInfo(oTable)
            oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.SubreportController.SetTableLocation(sSubreportName, oTable, oNewTable)
        Next oTable
    Next iLoop
    '-- Call VerifyDatabase() to ensure that the tables update properly
    oCrystalReport.VerifyDatabase()

  • Load Report failed when opening Report under IIS 5.1

    I recently upgraded to Crystal Reports 2008 (12) from Crystal Reports Basic 2008 (10.5).  I am using Visual Studio 2008 with the CrystalReportViewer.  Now when I run my reports from the website under IIS 5.1 (Windows XP SP3), I get a Load Report Failed.  The detailed exception follow:

    Sundar

    Sundar,
    you just need a report (*.rdf) file that serves as a placeholder for the reports object in the forms module. You can either take one of your reports, one of the sample reports or create a simple dummy report by yourselves.
    Create a simple report using reports developer (e.g. "select sysdate as dummy_date from dual" as the report query). Save it as "dummy.rdf" in your reports directory (where your existing reports are stored).
    Now open the form that uses your menu. In the Reports node of your forms module, add a report, select "Use existing report file" and browse to the "dummy.rdf" file previously created.
    Open the property palette for that report and remove the path information of the "Filename" property, so that it reads "dummy.rdf".
    Edit the "Name" property so that it reads "MY_DUMMY_REPORT".
    Compile and save the form.
    Now use the PL/SQL code mentioned above in your menu and see if it works.
    Hope this helps

    end;The hyperlink showed, and I can see the rep_detail.jsp showed in the same browser after I clicked the hyperlink.
    The problem is, the hyperlink has to include the reports path and also userid and password.
    If I did not put the userid and password, it will showed in another browse that
    "The report has uncompiled PL/SQL"
    How can I hide those userid, password, and the reports path?
    BTW, Is there anyway to show the report callee in different page (precisely, open another IE) from the report caller?
    Any help would be grateful.
    Many thanks,

    Hi,
    Thanks for the answers.
    Yet, I am still doubt about using cgicmd.dat.
    I have looked around in this forum saying that it is not secure to use cgicmd.dat. Because all report request does not use authentication (the client can directly open report without login).
    In Form, I can use the On-Logon to do the Oracle Form login (to do logon to the database), and then I use my own custom user login to restrict the menu for each user.
    I do this since I want to restrict the user,
    i.e user A can only view the sales form as well as sales report,
    user B can only view the purchasing form as well as purchasing report.
    Well, I am not so fond about the SSO itself.
    It comes to my mind, since I don't have to re-login (to the database) each time I call another form (login database is only once at the first Form, On-Logon). It also goes to when calling the report caller.
    What is RAD?
    How can we use it?
    Is OID = Oracle Internet Directory?
    If true, maybe, I won't use it since I don't understand about it also.
    Why we don't have to specify the userid and password when Form calls Report1 (using Run_Report_Object and Web.Show_Document())?
    But we have to specify the userid and password when Report1 calls Report2.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Buntoro

  • Stored procedure fails when called through jdbc

    Stored procedure returns incorrect results
    Hi!
    I am really puzzled about this and would really appreciate some help.
    We are migrating an servlet/jsp-application from websphere application server 3.5.3 to
    Oracle Application Server 10g. The backend is an Oracle 9i database server. Most of the application
    is build upon stored procedures in oracle. So the migration part is to make the servlets and JSPs
    to work in their new environment, creating deployment descriptors and so on.
    We are using JDeveloper 9.0.5.2 for development on Windows XP OS
    Java version is 1.4.2_03-b02 (ojvm)
    and also have an Oracle Application Server Enterprise Edition 9.0.4.0.0
    running on a W2K SP6. Java version is 1.4.2_03-b02, for development and testing.
    When running standalone (that comes width JDeveloper) OC4J the Java version is 1.4.2-b28 (client VM)
    The problem:
    When calling a stored procedure that calls another user defined procedure the returned result is wrong.
    The example snippet I've enclosed only success on my standalone OC4J.
    When I run the Java-app in JDeveloper using embedded OC4J it behaves incorrectly.
    When I run the Java-app deployed at the standalone OC4J that comes with JDeveloper it runs just fine.
    When I deploy the Java-app at the Oracle Application Server it behaves bad again.
    It looks like the procedure called by the procedure cannot execute correctly or that it got null value as in-parameter.
    What puzzles me is that this procedure did work correctly on websphere (JVM 1.2.2 and Oracle jdbc-drivers classes12.jar)
    and it does executes just fine on the standalone OC4J.
    I have tried different classes12.jar, ojdbc14.jar, different datasources (com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource,
    oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionCacheImpl) width no succes.

  • Load Report fail when use impersonate="true" in dotnet config

    We have VS2005 and use Crystal 11.5. Our crystal report runs fine. When we set <identity impersonate="true" userName=".\user id" password="user password" />
    in our Web.Config file, the report show error "Load report fail".
    Could someone tells me why?
    Thanks
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
    Please check you are using impersonation in same way
    following line below under the <system.web > tag , as illustrated below
    <system.web>
    <identity impersonate="true"/>
    <authtorization>
    <allow users="?"/><authtorization/>
    This may be permission issue. Domain users need access to "C\Windows\Temp directory" and to the report directory try with giving permission .
    Hope this helps!!

  • Registry's EnumKey Lookup Failing When Called By MSBuild?

    A MS-DOS script executes the VBScript below and it works fine. However, when using a MS Build master deployment file which calls the aforementioned MS-DOS script, the 2nd location lookup ("SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\")
    fails with a result code of 2. I have spent countless hours trying to figure out why the difference. Any ideas?
    Const HKLM = &H80000002 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

    Or try sysnative:

    Don't retire TechNet! -
    (Don't give up yet - 13,225+ strong and growing)
    But that is not a portable solution.  it does not apply to 32 bit platforms and will only work from a 64 bit session when calling intp a 32 bit session.
    If we are in a 32 bit session running VBScript then we cannot see the 64 bit registry without the help of WMI.  The correct solution is to build in the correct environment.  If you want to run in both environments then you will need to test the
    32 bit version on a 32 bit system assuming the applications being enumerated use the same keys on both architectures.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    This is correct. I totally forgot there are 32 bit and 64 bit versions of MSBuild. I made no changes except to execute the main deployment script with the 64 bit version of MS Build. Thank you for all of your help.

  • Crystal report hangs when calling oracle package

    hi i have a oracle package that calls a proceadure, if i test this package in PLSQL developer it compiles and i get sensible results
    this package has been designed using a ref type cursor to be called from crystal reports. it primary objective when the report is run, is to use File util to output data to an xml file.
    when i run this from crystal reports it locks crystal reports up, and dosent output a file.

    Hi yes the package uses fileutil to output a file,
    the report user has permission over the file util output directory.
    I have previously used this method to generate rpt, and other output files in parelell.
    thanks
