Tax declaration & E-separation screen shot in EHP5
Hi,
Can I get portal screen shots of Tax declartion & E-Separation applications in EHP5 . I have checked following link suggested in one of the forum, but could not get detailed screen shot of these processes in ESS MSS.
Also I have one doubt in E-separation that whether Separation action gets automatically updated whenever approver approves the separation request and how?(i.e. whether we need to run any program to update separation action after approval process??)
Waiting for your valuable response....
Regards,
Swapnali

Screen shot help for withholding tds on advance?
can someone please help urgently
When the withholding tax type is mapped to vendor master record it gives an error saying that entries in table T0 59Z not existent.I need to develop screen shots for " advance to Vendor& TDS on advance"HEllo,
Firstly please check in your customizing that you activated the
extended withholding tax functionality by following this path in
the IMG:
financial accounting global settings
-> Comapny code
-> Activate the extended withholding tax
Also, there is an additional field "W/H tax catagory" which should be
optional in your account group settings. Please check this by using
Transaction: OBD3
-> Clicking the relevant account group
-> Company code data
-> W/H tax data.
Please note that when you create/change vendor master data, if you
navigate to the withholding tax screen, you have to FIRST enter the
withholding TYPE. Additionally, you may enter a withholding tax CODE
(defined for this withholding type), which is going to be proposed when
posting an invoice for this vendor. If you first enter the withholding
code without having entered the withholding TYPE, the foreign key check
leads to the message 00058 you described in the problem.
Have you check if the tax type exist in T059Z?

Oh, I hope somebody can help me with this issue, it's causing
much frustration. :(
I'm recording a demonstration of how to execute a particular
function within a website. When I create the project, I'm able to
align the screen shot with the red box exaclty how I want to. So, I
take the sreen shot of screen 1 and then click to screen 2. When I
arrive at screen 2, the nice box for the screen shot I created for
screen 1 does NOT align with screen 2. This is a flaw in the
website (lack of uniformity in its graphic design) ... however, can
I correct it with Captivate? I tried the crop feature when you
resize, but this didn't work properly.
Also, why is that you can't specify the size of the screen
after already recording once? I ask becuase I tried recording
screen 1 on its own... And then screen 2 on its own. With screen 2,
I'm not able to adjust the red box precisely as I was able to with
screen 1.
Please help Captivate masters!

My suggestion here would be having snapped screen 1 within
the red recording area and taken the first screen shot, press the
pause on your keyboard button, make sure that the second screen is
aligned correctly within the red recording area, press the pause
button again and then press the Print Screen key to manually
capture the second screen.

Put simply because you cannot have slides at different sizes
in the same Adobe Captivate project file. Whilst you cannot resize
the red recording area, you can select a different application in
the recording dialog box and then snap this within the red
recording area; you can also move the red record box manually by
either clicking and dragging on one of the edges or clicking on one
of the edges and pressing one of the arrow keys on your keyboard.
Note: You move the red recording area 5 pixels (I think) at a time
by holding down the Ctrl key and press one of the arrow keys.
If you need to capture screen 2 at a different size you would
then need to do this in a separate project file and this
separately. You could do this using either the slide navigation
options or load the second file at the end of your first project.
Whatever method you choose to use you will first need to publish
your second screen project as a SWF and include an HTML file.
Personally, I would suggest in either cases you choose the option
"Open URL or File."

Plea for Light UI to be used when posting Screen Shots
I would like to put in a request:
I find it almost impossible to read the settings which were used when people post either Screen Shots or Demo Movies which were made with the dark UI
It would be great if people could switch to a Light mode before making explanatory Screen Shots (Cmd/Ctrl + F2 cycles through the GUI modes instantly and painlessly!)
And, if you are planning on publishing a book, do realise that once these dark screen shots have been rasterized, downsized and reproduced in Print, they become totally illegible!!!My feeling is that if you publish an instructional text book; or charge for on-line Tutorials; your paying customers should expect to be able to see your illustrations and read the contents of the panels on their screen so that they can follow the tutorials.
The dark backgrounds make this well-nigh impossible so an investment in the purchase of the books and tutorials becomes pointless!
Never mind whether the dark screen is Adobe's "Default", and it may look fine on the originating computer, but by the time that a Tutorial has been videoed, edited, posted and downloaded to the Customer, the text is illegible and the cursor is invisible.
In a printed book, the dark screen shots with reversed-out rasterized text become totally illegible once they have been down-sized, separated, screened and printed on an offset Press — so the book is worthless.
I am suggesting that the authors of these teaching materials need to be made aware of these issues and, out of courtesy to their Readers and Customers, should prepare therir material with these factors in mind. -

Best practices for importing .png screen shots into FrameMaker 9?
I'm new to importing .png screen shots into FrameMaker, and also new to FrameMaker 9. To compound things, I have engineers giving me screen shots taken on Linux machines, using a client like NX to get to Linux. My screen shots are coming in fuzzy and instead of trying to troubleshoot what's going wrong here, I was wondering if someone could quickly tell me what normally works with FrameMaker 9 and .png on a Windows system so I can troubleshoot from there.
That is, let's say I'm capturing a screen shot on a Windows system and I use some tool (Paint Shop Pro X, SnagIt, Alt-PrintScreen, or whatever). I save the screen shot as .png and then import by reference into FrameMaker 9.
What dpi do I use in the capturing program?
What dpi do I use when I import by reference into FM?
What if that makes the screen shot too large/too small: Is it better to use the FrameMaker Graphics > Scale solution, to resize it in my capture program, or to retake the screen shot?Bringing screenshots into Frame documents has four major considerations:
how to perform the original screen capture
how to post-process it in a graphics editor
what graphical object model (and file format) to store it in
making sure it isn't damaged by your workflow
1. Screen Cap, typically of dialog boxes ...
... used to be simple; isn't anymore.
Dialogs used to have identical pixel dimensions on all user screens. You hit Alt[PrntScrn] in Windows and you got a one pixel per pixel 24-bit color image on the clipboard.
More recent operating systems now have much more scalability in the GUI. So either capture at what the default user sees, or at the optimal presentation enlargement, which might be precisely 2x the default display.
2. Post
Before you even start this step, you need to know exactly how you will be presenting the final document out of Frame:
B&W? Color?
What dimensional size on the page?
If hardcopy, what are the optimal parameters of graphical images for your print process? If web or PDF, various other considerations arise. I'll presume print.
In our workflow, the print engine is 600 dpi bitmap. We normally present images at one column width, about 3.5in. Our PDF workflow passes 600 bitmap untouched, but resamples gray and color to 200 dpi. I tend to use 600 dithered bitmap, but always test if there's any doubt.
Chances are the screencap bitmap, at your native printing res, is too small. There is no "dpi" associated with clipboard images. Once pasted into an image editor, the editor should provide the ability to declare the dpi (Photoshop does, both at paste, and via "resize without rescale"). If your image editor doesn't, fire it. If you can't see and control dpi, you have no real control over this workflow.
Plan to save the final image in a format that at least supports linear dimensions (like EPS) if not explicit dpi (TIFF). Save out the image at the exact size you intend to use at import in Frame. Do you know how Frame scales objects? I don't. So do your scaling where you have control over how.
Play with the defined "dpi" until the linear dimensions match your planned import frame. If that dpi passes through your workflow unmolested, you may not need to perform any resizing.
If you need to convert from 24-bit color to bitmap (at your printing resolution), I'd suggest using error diffused dithering converting to your target res, as this tends to preserve the hard edges in dialog boxes and rasterized text.
If you need to re-scale, I'd suggest scaling up by an integer multiple, using "nearest neighbor", to the nearest size just higher than your target dpi. Then rescale bi-linear down to your target size.
3. File Format
The main consideration here is compression, followed by color depth and size encoding.
Screenshots tend to have expanses of flat colors, and hard edges. These objects compress reasonably well using repeat-count compressions (like ZIP or RLE). They tend to get damaged by curve-matching compression, like JPEG, because they typically contain no curves through color space. Hard edges get fuzzy or pick up ringing artifacts.
So don't use JPEG (and what compression will your workflow use?). I tend to use TIFF(ZIP) for screenshots.
Avoid indexed color (4-bit, 8-bit or 15/16-bit) color.
Don't use GIF. It has no size encoding. The usual presumption is that GIF is 72 dpi, which makes importing it a nuisance, and at least a minor math exercise. Plus, it's indexed color, and may scale poorly downstream.
Experiment. See what looks optimal in the final product.
4. Workflow
As you can see throughout the above, all your careful planning can be for nought it your save-as-PDF, distiller or print shop process resamples everything down to 90 dpi. You have to know what's happening, and how to optimize for it, or you probably won't like the result.
We once had graphics showing up at 10 (yes ten) dpi in print.
Turned out the print engine could handle JPEG 5 but not JPEG 2000.
We had to hastily back-port images until a software upgrade fixed it. -

On my iMac OS-X 10.9.3 I am able to view a downloaded .pdf in my browser , if however I want to print out the .pdf via the File tab and Print in Safari, the message comes up that Adobe either does not support this format, or it s corrupted as an attachment to an email. I have tried saving it to my desktop by exporting it as a .pdf, or saving it to the desktop. In both cases when I try to open it, I get the same message.
Found that the only way I can save the data is to take a screen shot to my desktop and then I can print it out, but cripes what a pain!
Any suggestions would be welcome, is this me or an Adobe issue? If you are printing to physical printer from Safari : Use Reader print button from Reader toolbar
If you want to save a PDF from Safari to your local : Use Reader Save button from the Reader toolbar.
PS: if you have PDF in read mode the hover the mouse at the bottom of the page and the floating Reader toolbar will appear.
Please let me know if this solves your issue. -

How to take a screen shot automatically and from a remote location
Hi,
I have a Desktop, a Video Analyzer with Windows XP, and a Laptop, also running Windows XP. What I would like to do is take a screen shot from the Video Analyzer while running the LabVIEW VI from my laptop.
I have found this, which gives me insight into the complexity of a print screen call, but this is really only if LabVIEW were running on the system from which my screen shot is desired. For this post, that is not the case.
If you have a solution or even just a vague idea or comment, please do not hesitate to post. I appreciate any and all feedback on this topic.
Thank you for your time.

Electrical Engineering InternThank you for your response. I would like to aviod using outside software in this. I'm sure that TightVNC is great, and it would probably work. I would, however, just like to do this using labview and labview only. Maybe it isn't possible but I really would like to do it entirely in labview. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them even if they, too, have outside software involved.
Thanks again Joseph -

How to delete photos from iPod after making screen shot?
Hello!
I just figured-out how to take screen shots with the ipod... And was playing with it for a while! heh heh
Now I have a bunch of screen shots saved to my ipod, is there a way to delete them with out connecting to iTunes?
Any tips are appreciated. On a Mac, iPhoto launches automatically if there are Saved Photos. In Windows XP, there's a "new device" dialog where you can select the Scanner & Camera Wizard (no view files option in XP, unlike Vista), or you can go to My Computer and you'll see an Apple® iPod device (the only thing accessible will be the Saved Photos).
I think we've covered all the OSs now.
Hope this helps...
